(( An odd, utterly painful eerie feeling begins to perpetuate the pair. Almost as though they can feel eyes on them at all times...
An odd hissing sound stalks them along with terrible drawn out slippery noises...as though someone is dragging raw meat over the cobbled streets. The smell of stagnant water and the horrible noises will follow them for an hour...until they have nearly reached the center.
Then, something slithers out of an alleyway...
Nothing more abhorrent has been seen in the streets for a long, long time. It looks as though it may once have been a Lowland/Torquehelm mix...gone horrifically wrong! The skin on its head is sloughing off and odd spikes protrude from its body at terrible angles and its breath comes in foaming gasps. It possesses no lower half to speak of...
"Wotcha...mates..." Its voice slithers from its throat with amazing effort as its eye, lacking eyelids, stare the pair down... It hunches what's left of its spine and prepares its attack...be careful in what you use...it could be stronger than it looks...
FYI: I will be playing this little monstrosity, so fling out what you have, but don't go too far on his movements...I'll help you with that.
Image belongs to drulle.livejournal.com/, who is epic and had this idea, though I didn't have time to doodle up my own rendition yet. <3)))~Nathalia

The chatting was nice, familiar. He grinned as Ivy talked of her family, amused by how it reminded him of his own. ...Except that he had no siblings, and that his mother was fairly normal -- but his Father came straight out of a storybook and the insanity that he kept company with more than made up for his lack of bizarre siblings.
"Rabbits are actually a lot like cards from what I gather, just with a few key differences that make 'em really different." His big grin turned bashful. "Not that I'm an expert or anything." Kaden paused for a moment, considering all the weirdness they could run into. Father always told him to expect the unexpected and today was the epitome of 'unexpected'. He laughed aloud, shaking his head. "On a weird day like this, I'm honestly starting to think it's possible."
For a moment Kaden swore he heard something. It was a faint sound, distant, and mostly hidden beneath the fading echoes of his laughter in the quiet streets, but whatever it was gave him an awful chill up his spine. He resisted the urge to shake and kept his feathers smoothed down as they walked.
After that, the night took a horrifying plunge.
The air seemed to turn electric with a sense of wrongness as a scent like stagnant water began to permeate the city. The strange sound half-heard returned time and time again, scraping and slipping somewhere in the distance. Never within sight, never close enough to pinpoint, but always the disconcerting feeling of eyes following their every step. For the first time since growing those peacock wings, Kaden felt a real inkling of doubt.
Somewhere along the way their conversation had faded out entirely. It was replaced instead by a single-minded march forward, as if somehow reaching the fountain would shield them from the weirdness.
Just as Kaden thought he could see a hint of the fountain in the distance, something sloughed out of a nearby alley and placed itself firmly within their path. For a moment something in Kaden's brain clicked off. All of his feathers had bristled up at odd angles and his eyes simultaneously widened as his mouth went dry. He wasn't seeing what he was seeing... but he was.
And then it spoke. Something in that horrendously simple action jarred Kaden out of his horror and his jaw dropped open to state, quite bluntly: "Holy shit, Ivy... It's a fuckin' zombie."

Eurwen was cheerful as they conversed, but suddenly everything went down hill. She heard a faint sound that made her jump slightly. She tried to brush it off, but slowly she could feel fear seeping into her.
Someone was watching them. She couldn't shake the feeling, and she was smelling something disgusting. She almost vomited when the scent first assaulted her nose, but she choked it back as they marched onwards. The conversation was replaced with terrifying sounds and a sense of impending doom as she slowly found herself edging towards her companion.
And then something firmly blocked their path to victory. They were so terribly close and now a very disgusting and terrifying thing was in their way. Her way. And it was asking them what was up.
"Yep," Eurwen said without missing a beat to her companion. Despite her terror, she was more determined now than ever to get to the fountain. And the fact that the rotting thing looked like a Lowlander helped. It looked like it was ready to attack them, and she was going to get the upper hand, she prayed to all things that Kaden would follow her lead. "And the bitch is in our way."
She grabbed the box and threw it with all her strength at the creature, generally aiming for its midsection. The mouse didn't wait around as she bolted towards one of the sides.
Her footing wasn't fantastic as she practically slid when she whipped out the crowbar. She would attempt to hit the creature with it one way or another.
In theory Kaden would attack the other side. Hopefully it would confuse the rotting bastard. Or at least she would give Kaden a chance to attack high while she was attacking in the middle... since there was no low.
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, she can carry up to 200 lbs of extra weight for 24 hours straight, one day per week. She is left feeling tired and somewhat drained for the 24 hours following that period.
( I rolled a dice. 15 for box throw, 11 for footing, and 18 for her crowbar flailing attack )

Suddenly the thing hunched what was left of its spine and Kaden's momentary disconnect from himself shut off immediately. Ivy was right. The damn thing was in their way and it didn't look like it was willing to let them pass without a fight, so why not give it what it wanted?
Everything happened in a flash. Ivy threw the box at the creature and darted around to one side and, without waiting to see if the box connected or whether or not Ivy wanted him to do something else, Kaden had already found his 'opening'. In a split second decision, Kaden exploded into motion and launched himself at the creature from the opposite direction Ivy had taken.
Springing up onto his spider legs, Kaden boosted his Club ability and aimed a downward kick at the beast's head with the hopes of also smashing it into the ground. Regardless of how his hit connects, Kaden will spring away from the beast and attempt retract his spider legs in hopes of avoiding a broken limb. He'd only had it happen once, but he'd been exceptionally cautious about it every happening again.
(Rolled a 14 for his attack and a 16 for his dodge.)
Mayle's Tarantula Mutation: Kaden has now grown four very long, hard, and spiky spider limbs from his chest. They are sturdy and long and fold up double while he walks so as not to interfere with his shorter legs, but when extended, they can lift his body into the air and help him run faster as their muscles work in a different way. (Think Invader Zim, if you will <3) These legs are strong enough to whip him out of sight at 20 mph, but they are weak against being struck and could break rather easily in battle, once broken they are very hard to heal.
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, he can carry up to 45 lbs of extra weight for 24 hours straight, one day per week. He is left feeling tired and somewhat drained for the 24 hours following that period.
Brass Knuckles: This small pair of brass knuckles looks a little pitiful until you're hit with them. Once contact is made with at least a little force, the victim will feel as though a giant bell is going off in their head, impeding their ability to hear, fuzzing their vision slightly, and literally making their heads ring.

((The monster throws its long neck back and laughs thickly. "Zombie? Ahahaha!!! Zombie? Ahahahaaaaa!" Its voice is coated in mucous and bits of chunky, rotten flesh slide out with the effort it takes to convulse its throat in such a fashion.
The box thrown at it hits it full in the midsection, causing it to jerk back as a sound like wet taffy is heard. The box sinks into its mess of a middle and is gone. The crowbar sinks right into the left side of its head, tearing away a chunk of flesh and making a thick cracking sound. The laughter becomes more hoarse and guttural as it surges forward. The brass knuckles taking a slight hit on its shoulder and it wheels around like lightning, its jaws snapping up wildly at the legs above it and managing to take off one of Kaden's toes. "Children...Ahahaha, children..." It hisses, laughing madly as the area 100 feet around itself becomes a mess of nasty, fleshy, pulpy ooze that reeks of rot and decay. The creature sinks down into it, the laughter turning panicked as it goes under, gurgling. The ooze will not suck in the two fighters, simply stick at them and be horrible. The smell seems unwilling to wash off of Kaden.
Three Josiggies round the corner. Two Hearts and a Spade; A Wolf, a Dachshund/Ferret mix, and some kind of Bird of prey. All three look horrified and will clean Kaden's wound if they describe well what happened....
Your goal is still to get to the fountain...be careful.))

Disgusting.
Everything was terrifying and awful. Eurwen had hoped that the box would have done something other than disappear. But thankfully she was capable of hitting the creature in the head. Or rather. A lump of flesh came off.
She wanted to vomit. But the horror only continued when she watched the creature snap one of her companion's toe's off.
The little mouse tried to rebound for another attack. The monster was laughing, however, and everything around them was turning into a rotting nightmare that Eurwen couldn't even dream of. She did vomit, at this point it was impossible not too. And the small amount of food and alcohol she had that evening was part of the mess she was standing in.
But weirdly the laughter turned into gurgling.
She looked to Kaden. "Are you...?" She started as she walked--squished--towards him. Oh Suits his toe was missing and they were standing in.... "Let's get to the fountain now, do you want me to uh, carry you?"
This smell was horrible. She needed to get out of here now. And what if that thing came back?

Apparently the thing didn't like being called a Zombie. This fact, above all else, managed to honestly disturb Kaden. If it scoffed at being a Zombie then what the hell did it think it was?! Better yet, Kaden reprimanded himself, why was he even contemplating the thoughts of a horrendous rot monster?
The loud crack from Ivy's crowbar connecting with the beast might have been consoling if it weren't for the sudden and rather horrifying pain that shot through his talon as the thing snapped a toe off in one bite. Kaden squawked loudly in pain as he leaps back. The pain was intense, thankfully the combination of shock and adrenaline numbed it a little. When he retracts his spider legs he balances on one leg and tucks his bleeding talon close to his body.
The instinctive move was a good one, it would seem, for the ground beneath him suddenly turned to a cesspool of rotten sludge (he did not relish the thought of getting that on his open wound). Thankfully the creatures horrific laughter quickly fades into a distraught gurgling as the beast sinks into the sludge as if suddenly unable to hold itself together any longer.
Ivy's tentative question is met with an odd laugh from the bird and, finally, he loses his own lunch. Thankfully, it's little more than liquor and bile. "T-that bastard took my toe." He laments once his stomach ceases its rebellion. At least he felt a little better, though the pain was still vivid. He nods in agreement. "Definitely need to get out of this now. I can walk." He pulls back up onto his spider legs, hoping to all things good in the world that he was not walking over some fleshy zombie trap that would, at any moment, reveal a monster lurking beneath the surface to snap off one of his legs.

(( I find it hilarious that my dice gave Eurwen good rolls when they normally only favor Penny and Peaches. XD ))
Eurwen watched in dismay as the bird lost his lunch. Ha well. It was good to know that he was just as disgusted as she was. She wrinkled her nose as she tried to pretend she wasn't smelling putrid flesh and rot.
"Right, spider legs," she said as she started to walk in their original direction. They didn't walk very far before people actually... showed up. They would have been useful earlier. Especially considering their region. Eurwen did her best to remain composed as she walked through the sludge.
"Heeeey," she started with a small wave of a paw. They didn't look amused. She faltered for a moment. She wanted to wash herself until she bled, but right now she had to focus on the fact that Kaden was missing a toe and probably needed to get fixed up before they kept going. "We were attacked by a Lowlander who was missing his lower half. After I smacked him in the head with a crowbar melted. Of course before he melted he managed to bite my friend's toe off. Could you... help us?"
Eurwen looked somewhere between crying and hyperventilation.

Nothing happened. No legs bitten off, just a toe. Kaden was thankful beyond words to finally step out of the mire and into the company of almost normal looking individuals. He would've been pale as death had he not been covered in dark feathers. He lowered himself down from his spider-legs, immensely thankful for his heron blood. Everything would've been considerably better if he wasn't bleeding and light-headed.
Then again, he supposed that was part of being in shock.
Even better, Ivy was doing the talking. Kaden appreciated that. Couldn't find the words he was looking for. He extended his wounded foot. "Help would be appreciated, greatly." Didn't being bitten by a zombie mean you turned into one? ...Suits was the stench following them? Was it... Was it him? He glanced back at the filth behind them and then back to the Josiggies. "I don't want..." to turn into a zombie. No, that wasn't it. "it to get infected." Better.
He glanced to his friend, trying to properly clear his thoughts up. He wanted to reassure her that everything was fine but in the end he settled with simply laying a wing over her shoulder.
Though the group of Josiggies still appear horrified and wary, they nevertheless agree to help Kaden in his plight and clean and bandage his missing toe. Kaden wiggles his remaining digits and smiles gratefully. He's a little calmer now that he's had time away from the muck and the monster, though the smell is definitely still clinging to him -- or Ivy, he can't quite be sure. "Thanks."
