Eurwen stared as the cat rammed his head into the wall, the crack making her jump back a bit. Antler hit the floor, revealing that it was brittle bone. Yeah, this was a little more than poisoning but it was worth a shot.
And nothing happened, of course. Her brow furrowed. They had tried Corvies... but had they tried the right ones. It was hard to believe that something was impossible to fix. And that goo... that must have been the ink.
She should probably slowly back away before the former mayor started bashing his head against the wall. Ugh, but she hadn't done anything. There had to be something she could do. She didn't have too much magic in her arsenal that wasn't for helping. She eyed the ooze on the floor, pulling out one of her feathers and poking it with it. The mouse twirled it around in the light for a bit before deciding to set it down and leave it be.
She slowly backed away and made her way back to Ayden. "You know I warned you it wasn't pretty in here," she half muttered as she returned to the door.
Wait. Queen Donolda?
That was Zane's boss. Whoops. She'd be quiet and sit here like an idiot, contemplating what to do about this nightmare.
The way the cat was acting it... was that... the people in through the door?
---
Why was everyone being so weird? She blinked a few times when Ayden patted her on the shoulder. What was going on? She peered through the door after everyone, noticing the dead bodies. Oh, that, would be something to be upset about eh?
Kamina let out a surprised hiss when Ayden kicked the door. She had not expected anything like that in her haze.
She made a growling noise of displeasure as she decided she didn't like any of this. So she growled, and pouted, and waited like a good little girl.
(( I am completely unsure of if I should assume the movements of the Ace, despite Kamina calling it, so I'm just going to have her pout. ))

Jovan nodded sadly. He didn't even know what he could do to help. Standing in the room, staring at the dead, wounded, and dying, Jovan felt overwhelmingly out of sorts. It all got worse once Ayden poked his head around the corner. The man cried out at the sight of his maddened employer and the man himself was laughing and shaking and... suits.
The young equine-mix let out a soft noise of surprise when the Mayor jerked back and slammed his head into the wall with a sickening crack. The antler clattered across the floor and the boy blinked in surprise before slowly picking it up with a tentacle and examining it.
It was entirely dried out and brittle.
He turned his attention back to the Mayor, to those sightless eyes leaking ink and shuddered heavily. How could this sort of thing be happening? With one of his free tentacles, he lifted up the little blobling and examined it curiously. It looked like a miniature version of the one that attacked them earlier. Was that what was happening to the Selkies? Had they become these horrible things?
"Is that what happened to you, little guy?" He whispered thoughtfully. Maybe the monster had just been trying to get to Ayden for help? Maybe... "I don't suppose you know how to fix this?"
He whined a little. Eurwen's blood didn't seem to help and Ayden was cursing and kicking things and generally making a fuss around Kamina that he was certain might frighten her in her daze. Thankfully he managed to get himself under control before Kaden had to rush over and ask the man to control himself for the girl's sake.

Company? Really? Oh suits, this didn't really make things better. His lips peeled back from behind his mask in an irritated growl.
Then he saw Kamina. Now. He wasn't exactly the bestest uncle-ish thing ever, but he certainly was aware of and visited his extended on occasion. And Kamina wasn't exactly someone a person forgot.
"Kamina, what are you doing here?? He asked, startled. This was the last place he wanted -any- of his family at right now. And these people. He blinked wide eyed at t hem, not sure of what to make of all of this.
And it seemed this guy was working for the Mayor. The real mayor. But it seemed he was as shocked as most people to see the true Mayor in this state. Mikael wondered wildly if Donnie would make a go at this guy as well. He'd have to put a stop to that one way or another for sure.
Critter made a series of angered noises, and Mikael frowned, quickly de-summoning him. He'd have to deal with the momerath later.

She was being addressed by someone in the room. It took Kamina a few moments to process what was going on beyond her pouting. She peered through the door, edging her way into the room a bit more between Ayden and Eurwen.
"Hello Uncle," She said with a lopsided smile. Her voice had its usual vacant air. "I was in the city with someone--I don't remember who--and I ended up here. A Lowlander that tried to eat me, and there was a big scary Ink Monster."
She tilted her head, finally eying all of the carnage and the strange man in the corner. Did he have no eyes? How odd. No wonder the puppy had sounded upset from what she could hear. The feline frowned as she looked back to her Uncle. She wasn't quite sure what to make of this beyond the fact that it was pretty bad. "You're not going to beat us up too, are you?"
Eurwen was a little surprised when the strange long fingered noble addressed Kamina. She made a small surprised squeak when the girl pushed her way into the room and nearly stepped on her tail.
And then she spoke in her usual airy tone and just...
Eurwen sighed. Maybe she could try smoke things up just in case the Mayor started screaming again.

As more Cards entered the room, including what was clearly a full-blooded Selkie mix, Graeme shifted a bit against the table, trying not to let on just how uncomfortable he was with this situation. The room was getting a bit crowded, and he was worried that with so many people around, the antlered Feline would freak out. But he gave a smile to Ayden. "Greetings, and yes. I'm sorry, but I think your employer is very ill..." He gestured wearily to the Feline again, but it seemed Ayden had already noticed. Oh, this wasn't good. Graeme winced in sympathy as whatever Eurwen tried seemed to have no affect, and the poor sick man cracked one of his antlers open on the wall, far easier than he should have if it were still of living bone.
Graeme just...didn't know what to make of the situation. And then...one of the strangest children he had seen in his life entered the room. As if this couldn't get worse, now there were kids here? At least Mikael seemed to know the girl. He rubbed at the space between his eyes for a moment, trying to calm down. He just couldn't believe that there was nothing to be done. He just...couldn't think of what to try. He glanced at Ayden again, sadly.
"Ah suppose ye heard what Ah was saying before?" he asked the man, gold-orange eyes sad. "Somethin' in the water is infecting and killin' Selkies, and your poor employer was affected."

Jovan jerked around slightly when Mikael spoke up, a brow arched in surprise. He'd noticed him briefly earlier but he'd been that entire side of the room rather intently with the hopes that he wouldn't draw any attention from the wrathful Queen. He'd apparently done a good job, because the man's comment caught him entirely unsuspecting.
He knew Kamina? Huh. Apparently he was her Uncle and everything. ...How had he missed that?
It took a few more minutes for the image to finally click. Right. He'd seen him around the Palace a couple times but the man didn't love or work there. And he was a Spade. That explained a great deal of his confusion, at very least. Had there not been so much going on already, he might've introduced himself to him.
Instead he went back to focusing on the Mayor and trying to puzzle out some connection between the horrible Ink Monsters and the horrible sickness that was killing the Selkies. Nothing in the world of magic was finite. They may not have found the right cure yet but that didn't mean it wasn't out there. But would they be able to find it before the Selkies all succumbed to the illness?
He tucked the broken chunk of antler in his bag absently and lifted up the oil-slicked feather Eurwen had dropped. "What about this little guy?" They were both made of... ink-like substances, right? And it had seemed to like the strange ink he was leaking...?

The policeman died, slipping away with the drug in his veins. Donnie felt somewhat numbed by his words. This plague afflicting the realm, it was in their water? Affecting the populace. Reaching the Capital. Killing them by driving them slowly mad, dulling their fur and killing their senses. And the Mayor would be useless.
Less than useless. She twitched when he screamed, but the sound had already made her jump once and it wouldn't do so again. Not like it had.
She said nothing to the newcomers for a long while, trying to digest the situation in its entirety while at the same time trying to dig her mind into a semblance of working order. She felt at the same time hyper-aware and sluggish in the aftermath of her explosion, physically and mentally drained. That man shouldn't have had to die. And that was not a thought she was dealing with right now. That was a thought for much, much, much later.
McDuck's aplomb in the face of catastrophe was admirable. She found herself exceedingly grateful for his ability to field questions and offer explanations to the newcomers, at least one of whom was local and in the employ of the madman. Even when he explained her part in the mess, he did so diplomatically. Truthfully, but he could have said much worse.
"Ayden? Yes. Yes, I am. I believe that Mr. McDuck explained things very succinctly. These were the last of your Selkie police. One man is injured and gone from this room. The rest are dead. Your former Mayor cast a powerful fire spell, killing one. Another took his own life. Dalphus was my doing. It's complicated."
'Tired' didn't begin to cover the spectrum of emotions she was fending off just then. "I am no longer the Queen of Spades. Magic was involved, of an unknown source. I need to find a sink. Excuse me."

((Ayden nodded in response to the Wolverine's utterances. What could he say to something as simple as that? "There...there should be a bathroom down the hall, up the tunnel and to the direct right...I believe I remember using it once..." He said with a half bow, putting an arm out to keep Kamina back as the Ace finally slunk out to her.
The poor thing had spent the last solid two minutes trying its best to wake Timothy up, its whines and upset sounds getting progressively louder until its nudging had knocked his corpse over. It had sniffed him thoroughly...and something had seemed to click in the tiny mind, tail tucking tight between the thick legs as it slunk back out, cowering behind Kamina and sniffing at her as it whimpered.
The once Mayor, Cillis, gave another crazed laugh, throwing his head back when his antler was picked up and attacking the wall with his skull with renewed vigor. Ayden twined his tail around Eurwen's and gingerly pecked her on the cheek. "You think I didn't believe you? Trust me when I say, I've seen worse as far as gore goes. Strangeness, though? This could just top it? The Queen of Spades is not a Spade? My friend is..., none of this is right." He looked sadly on as Jovan's blob refused to touch the tainted ink and snarled if placed close to it again.
Ayden turned back to Mr. McDuck as the Queen exited. "Yes, sir. I did hear you well and think you explained it nicely...it still tends not to cover the shock of seeing an old friend reduced to this. My apologies." Gingerly, he stepped into the front of the room and began t rifle through the desk, gingerly looking for any records on the issue.
Cillis stood.
Quietly and without sound, until he was well onto his back legs, arms bound or no. Still laughing and snickering to himself, he suddenly threw his head back and screamed aloud. He then charged toward Ayden with a desperate and frenzied ferocity.))

Eurwen listened quietly to the Queen. Her brow furrowed. So the Queen of Spades wasn't... what? She watched as the woman exited the room to find a sink. Did this mean Zane was out of a job? She pondered that only briefly, as Ayden wrapped his tail around hers and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Oh, I trust you," She said with a sigh, "I'm sorry I've been snippy."
She wished she could articulate things a bit better. At least he was able to keep his composure. She eyed the former Jovan when he offered the ink blob the ink she had picked up on her feather. Apparently it was bad enough that that thing wouldn't touch it.
This was not looking good. Nothing felt right.
She looked away from the Mayor for a moment to watch Ayden. She pulled herself back into the room with the intent of examining something to see if they could find an answer. And then things went straight to hell.
There was a scream that pierced through the brief silence. Her heart seemed to stop as she watched the cat charged towards Ayden. She didn't have time to think straight. She panicked and she charged aiming to bite the cat's nearest leg and take him down with all her might. (oh hell yes, 19, even if it's a very stupid idea).
Magic. She should use magic too. She had to have magic somewhere. There was a spell in there she hadn't used in the back of her head.
Worth a shot she was all ready aiming to bite a sickly monster what was the worst that could happen?
Aimed At Cillis, King's Ability: Once a week, she is able to cause another person to scream in agony as ivy, similar to hers, begins bursting out of their skin and constricting their movement. Cutting it causes them extreme pain and they cannot tear it out without inflicting severe injury on themselves. After one minute, it will wither and die, leaving them with numerous wounds that will heal over in about 30 more seconds.
If it hasn't been 24 hours this is still activated: Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, she can carry up to 200 lbs of extra weight for 24 hours straight, one day per week. She is left feeling tired and somewhat drained for the 24 hours following that period.
--
Kamina blinked a few extra times when she was kept back. She was distracted, rather quickly, by the Ace returning to her.
She made a distressed sound when it sniffed and whimpered at her. "I'm sorry Puppy," she said as she reached out to give it a small scratch under the chin. "Sometimes people don't wake up. You can live with me if he was your owner. Otherwise we'll get you back to where you belong. I promise. Don't be sad, okay?"
The cat smiled at the ace and gave it a kiss on the nose. The adults were still talking about important things.
And then the talking turned into something else. The girl's eyes widened in confusion as she turned to look inside.
What was....?
(I rolled to see if Kamina could do anything, and she rolled a 1. Ha. Ha. My dice are probably going to suck from this point forward.)

Jovan flinched away a little when the mayor resumed beating his head against the wall, especially so soon after he lifted the antler to examine the brittle, hollow bone. He set it back down and slid it out of the way, traded it for the ink stained feather... only to receive a poor reaction from the Blobling.
It recoiled, as if disgusted or frightened, and then hissed when he edged it a little closer. He dropped it with the antler and let out a concerned sigh. "Sorry little guy, didn't know." He muttered and set it back on his head.
Apparently the stuff tainting the Mayor's blood was so toxic not even a monster made of ink would touch it. That was not at all reassuring.
Caught up in trying to puzzle out the ramifications of what that could mean, Jovan was absolutely oblivious of the Mayor climbing to his feet... until he screamed. The sound sent a horrible chill up his spine and he jumped forward to stop his charge -- only for Eurwen to dive in between them. The equine mix gave a startled yelp and recoiled, only to trip and land flat on his rear. (Rolled a 2 for doing... anything... -_-)
