There was a moment where he was lulled into something almost like security. It was sort of cute, to watch Alex nuzzle up to the girl and give her something to be happy about, and he seemed to like the crow, too. Like some kind of family moment, father, daughter and--faithful pet, he supposed. It made him miss his own people (for a moment, another thought intruded on his worries for Virtute--stars and stones, was his dad all right?), but it was helpfully distracting.
And then, just like that, Jarvis and Jerome were gone, sucked out of the room by a gale of wind that had about torn his own ears off. He stared blankly out the window, at the black cyclone that vanished into the distance. Their fellow conscious people, their new additions, their bit of possible help--gone like they had never been there, but for the broken window. He turned, blinked slowly, and locked eyes with Wulfram.
"This," he said, acutely dumbfounded, "is officially ridiculous."
Suits, but they needed to find a blasted Queen.

((And with that last statement, Zeki too, vanished into the wind. The gales' howl slows down, and turns simply to rain, the Ace staring adoringly up at them))

Wulfram really wanted to pretend everything was alright. That this little Ace was probably just happy to be around its feathered peers and, as Zeki had thought, they were perhaps all just birds of a feather... but something was off. It grinned at him, not just happy but something more. Too happy. He'd seen that unbalanced sort of joy before, it was almost painfully common in The Wood. Still, it seemed innocent and Wulfram wanted to believe the world was not as bizarre as it currently felt.
He glanced back to the window where Jerome sat. Had he seen it as well?
His brows furrowed briefly and then the Ace nudged his leg and his attention jerked back. Devi was looking at him, the Ace was looking at him. He smiled reassuringly at the girl and reached out his hand, intending to pet the Ace, when a roaring gust of wind dragged his attention back to the window. What -- Before he could respond to the bizarre gust of wind it had managed to tear the window out and Jerome and Jarvis with them. The man's usually controlled expression became one of utter bewilderment, mouth half open in protest. Zeki spoke and he turned back to the man to agree, only for him to get sucked out as well.
That was more than Wulfram needed to see. Shock faded in a flash and he jerked back, grabbing the child-woman behind him and pulling her further away from the window.

Zeki said something. The puffin peaked through the man's feathers. And then the boy disappeared into the wind too. She whimpered when the Queen shoved her behind him. What was going on? Where had everyone just gone? "What's happening?" she asked in a squeak as she tried not to desperately cling to the the crow.
She could hear the pounding rain. The wind seemed to be gone. But what if something else happened. She turned to the Ace that was looking at them with an adoring expression. Shouldn't be frightened as well? This wasn't normal was it? "Mr. Birdy, shouldn't you be frightened too? Or is this normal around here?" The puffin whimpered. She couldn't get any closer to Wulfram without being on top of him and this was just a little too much.
"W-Wulfram can we go home or something? I don't think we can get help here anymore." Could she burst into tears? She wanted to.

With all the single-minded focus of one who's brain was more than just slightly jumbled, Vaska hop-skipped down the hall. The ghost behind him was mostly put out of mind, at least for the time being - he had a goal in mind, and nothing was going to slow him down. Not even some spook-horse. Falks and Ben were better at this sort of thing. Well. Falks wasn't, not at all. But Ben was. Besides, he needed to check in on them, and make sure they were... surviving! Right? Because what would they do without their brother?! They certainly needed him, at this point. As he walked, Vaska muttered to himself dryly, talking about how crazy the world was, and how he didn't like it, and how he needed his brothers and his Ace and then... RIGHT! The boy skidded to a halt, his eyes going round as he whirled to look at Wiglaf. " ALEX! We need to find Alex, too!" No further explanation followed that, but it was unneeded: At the end of the hall, the forms of the other group appeared, a purple Avian in the midst of them. A stream of gibberish flowed freely from the Bat's mouth as he hurried his way over to the Ace, most of it sounding somewhere between delighted and relieved. He wrapped his wings around the bird's neck and clung to him, letting out a few happy cries. Then he became aware of the other people around him, and of the ghost who was following him once more. He gave the strangers a baleful look, frowned, and furrowed his brows. " ...Who are you?!"

((The Ace gave the windows a big grin and then tipped its head to the side, smiling at the Torque and Tulgey. It didn't seem to have any reaction to what had just happened... Maybe it's just stupid? It had just begun to hop forward to them again, when a teenage Bat sped out of the hallway and latched onto it.
The Ace let out a yelp, though Vaska will see nothing wrong with the voice, and writhed in terror. After a mad attempt to dislodge the boy, it hissed at him and fluffed itself up completely. Outside, the storm picked up and began to howl in earnest. And Wulfram can hear voices from downstairs...getting louder.))

Perhaps it was the sadist in him, but there was something in Devi's trembling voice that Wulfram found both adorable and a little amusing. He touched her cheek and was about to say something reassuring when he noticed the Ace was giving them a rather odd look. Or, rather, it looked utterly unfazed by all the weirdness.
He frowned slightly and opened his mouth to continue only to be cut off by a loud wailing. The crow's red eyes narrowed and he wrapped his arms around Devi as he dragged her back a few paces. "Careful." He hissed, just in time to watch a strange bat-like child tackle the Ace.
Wulfram used the chaotic scramble of Ace and Child to edge away from them both and to ensure his precious little abomination was out of harms way. Outside the wind was howling fiercely and now the Ace was hissing and the boy was giving them dirty looks. Wonderful. All just wonderful. Had he been of a canine persuasion he might've growled, instead his Tulgey nature put a painful bite behind his suspicious words.
"I am Wulfram, A Queen of Spades." His red eyes narrowed. "Who are you?"
To make matters worse Wulfram could hear voices approaching from downstairs. What in hell was going on!? Perhaps he should be glad to see that the statue-esque Court may be coming to life but, as of now, he was really quite entirely done with this madness.

There was suddenly a very loud noise, the girl's feathers puffed up as the tears started flowing. Why? What was going on? She was dragged without protest, half burying her face in the Tulgey crow.
There was suddenly a loud and strange boy all over the Ace. And the Ace didn't seem to like it one bit. The puffin's ears pulled back as the boy suddenly asked who they were. Why was he so casual? And why was he hurting the poor Ace? It obviously didn't like that, and it had been happy a moment ago when she was petting it. If it was upset by this boy and not the disappearing people something must have been wrong with him.
"Stop it!" she said suddenly, wiggling a bit in Wulfram's grasp. "He doesn't like that! Leave him alone!"
She sobbed for a moment before completely bursting into tears. Couldn't someone just sit down and explain what was going on? Why were people running around and disappearing?

((The Ace screams, a horrible rook croak of a strangled noise, aimed at the Bat, before scrabbling away and attempting to hide behind the Torque mix. If it could get close enough, it would nuzzle up to her lovingly, tucking down and looking as harmless as it was possible to look, its face shocked and dim-looking.
The Bat's attack is aimed at Wulfram, it would appear...dear dear, this could be awful for poor Vaska. Chirping quietly, the Ace aims another hiss at the Bat, and continues to sniff lightly at the Birds it so seems to adore.))

Something was wrong.
A bit of surprise from the Ace... That, Vaska could understand. He hadn't exactly been delicate with his happy flailing, and Alex had been surprised in the past by it... But this kind of behavior was weird and frightening. The whole world had gone crazy, and now even his pet was freaking out. Vaska choked on his own happy burbling, scrambling to let go of the Rook and falling back on his rump. The Tulgey stranger and the freaksy-deaksy little Torque were forgotten for a moment. "Alex...?" He whimpered.
His eyes filled with tears.
The girl started yelling at him.
With an ear-splitting scream the bat whirled to face them again, flaring his wings to make himself look bigger, eyes insane. "What did you do to him?! What did you do to my ALEX?!" He choked on a sob of his own, body shaking hard from a combination of madness and pain and fear. His Alex was... was afraid of him! They had done something awful, he just knew it! "You -- I don't know you! This is my HOME! YOU DON'T BELONG HERE! GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT GETOUTGETOUTGETOUT"
With alarming speed, Vaska slipped into a full-blown panic/insanity attack. When Alex pulled away from him and moved to the strangers... That panic attack turned into something much more serious.
Vaska screamed again, launching at Wulfram's legs, beating his wings against the larger man and wailing all the while. "You can't have him! YOU CAN'T!!" he wailed. Rational speech and thought evading him, all he could thing to do was scream and flail. "I hate you! I HATE YOU!"
((modified and shifted for slightly better flow xDD))
