Wulfram's eye twitched in frustration as the bat-child screamed, recoiling from the awful sound even before he heard the window explode above them. He managed to avoid the shower of glass (13) and deflected the smaller pieces he missed with his wings. He felt a few slivers hit but was no worse for the wear.
He returned with a furious vengeance to claim those wing claws. Impudent brat! How had it even managed to stay conscious through this abuse?! That ability alone should have knocked him out and the fact that he continued to fight through magic and abuse was not at all endearing of him but only managed to anger the crow even more.
His blade slammed through the claws and he swept them up with a victorious grin... only to hear the bat child's war scream again. Bastard! He jerked back, avoiding the blow to the face that the bat obviously wanted but the flailing creature caught his leg and sunk sharp fangs into the feathered flesh. (8) Wulfram hissed in pain and slammed the butt of the razor against the back of the boy's head (18) in hopes of both dislodging him and perhaps knocking him out.

Tiny teeth sunk in, working their way between feathers and down to the skin beneath. Vaska tasted blood, real blood, and it made him almost want to vomit. He'd not expected it to be so hot, or for it to taste so foreign - after all, he had tasted his own blood before, but this was just different. The combination of everything that had happened to him in the last fifteen minutes caught up with the boy just as Wulfram's final blow went down. He ground his teeth down a little bit harder, partly out of instinct, and then his jaw went slack ( 2 for staying awake ). When he released his bite, one of his teeth came away with it, likely remaining in the larger man's leg. The Bat himself went tumbling back, hitting the ground hard. His eyelids fluttered once, vision focusing on the Alex that had abandoned him, a plaintive whimper of fear escaping him. If he went unconscious, who knew what would happen to him next? Too bad thoughts weren't enough. Vaska passed out in the middle of the floor.

Wulfram clenched his teeth through the pain. He'd had far worse but there was also a large child latched onto his leg with his teeth and that was not only painful but frustrating. He kicked the child once more for good measure, his expression frighteningly cold, and yanked the tooth out of his leg. He added it to the collection of claws he'd claimed and wrapped the whole bundle in the handkerchief from his pocket.
It was only once he'd wiped his blade clean and returned both kerchief and weapon to his pocket that he noticed the boy had been staring at something before he fell unconscious. The Ace probably... And, oh... Suits, right. Devi.
Hmmmm. This might damage her opinion of him a bit. Not enough to erase all the work he'd done so far but certainly enough to make him have to work a bit to restore his image. Bloody hell! At least they were... Alone?
As he turned to check on the girl, he found that she was not where he'd left her. Instead he caught the sight of feathers slipping around the corner, back toward the entrance, and his heart pounded in his chest and his head roared with momentary panic. Her too?! Lenore had betrayed him but Devika wasn't supposed to know any better! How could she run away from what she didn't know was wrong?! She didn't even have anywhere else to go!
In a flash of long-legged strides, he was around the corner and had Devi in sight. His anger flashed red in his eyes but before they could settle his wrath on her, they fell upon the Ace. The Ace. He was to blame for this! He antogized that child, he lured away his pet! "Devi?" The Tulgey Queen questioned, his voice strangely contained for the rage he felt beneath the surface. "Where are you going?"
His leg bled freely from where the bat had bitten him and the teeth had dragged, but Wulfram didn't seem to notice just then.

Devika was quietly following the Ace. He seemed to know his way around, so he really must have lived here right? Then again everything was so confusing and she was held back by her binding a bit.
She heard the voice of the crow behind her, she jumped and squawked. Looking over her shoulder with a terrified expression she tried to process what she was seeing. He didn't look happy. But he had been angry at that shriek-y bat thing. Was he going to be angry at her next?
Was that blood?
"I didn't want to get in the way," she whined as she edged closer to the Ace. "You were scary and... and the yelling and the...you're bleeding..." She trailed off into a whimper. She had done something bad hadn't she? Now she was going to get punished. What was she supposed to do? Why couldn't someone sit down and explain everything to her? She gave a panicked look between the Ace and the Tulgey Queen, the tears threating to overflow yet again.

((The Ace tilted its head at the tall man before him...seeming to be deciding something. Then it spoke.
"We're going away now." It whispered, almost unintelligible. Its head turned in Devi's direction as it gingerly nuzzled the back of her neck.
The next movement happened in a complete and utter flash. The Ace bit down hard (railroading, no roll can save you) on the back of the girl's neck, grabbing the scruff as another pair of legs descended from its feathers and it took off, dragging her down the hallway in an incredible burst of speed. Unrelenting, it ripped off down two hallways and sped away toward another, the Crow only just able to keep them in sight.
With a sudden screech of annoyance and fear, it skidded to a halt at the sight of a large group of people before it! Letting go of the Puffin in its beak, who probably tumbled from the speed, it threw itself at the large window and crashed through the glass, tumbling through the air before flying off, bleeding, into the night.
Within a few minutes...the trees outside of the window will fade completely. My...what a group they've stumbled into...))

Sabe finished what he had said and was about to listen to what the other had to say about it when something happened... Sounds... running... and Screaming? He gazed over the snakes shoulder just in time to see the ace that had the mount in its chest fling itself out of the window behind him dropping something by the small parties feet. Sabe didn't even have time to react to any of this and only mildly looked over his shoulder to see the ace and the trees fade away. How odd... he gazed back down at his feet and wondered what it was when he saw the crow start to approach them in a huff. Well that explains quite a bit then. Well... not really. He saw the little Torque and noticed something rather odd. It had ears like those that he had seen before. Without thinking he wondered if they were connected and used the tip of his cane to move them a bit and then nodded. He looked up at those that were coming down the hallway. "Good evening, seems like you have had a bit of a rough night as well." he said as he gave a half hearted smile. It was plain to see the damage that was all over his body, bite wounds on his shoulder, claw marks down his chest over his queen symbol and club symbol, scratches and bruises across his body didn't look that great. Though oddly enough, he seemed to be in good spirits.

Devi was briefly comforted by the nuzzle to the neck, and was not expecting anything to happen beyond that. So when she was suddenly grabbed she didn't even have time to squawk in protest. She was very suddenly moving, and not comprehending how it was possible to go so fast when she wasn't doing it.
It would have been pretty cool if she had been able to understand what was happening.
And then everything came to grinding halt when the Ace let out a shriek. Devi was suddenly flying, and then hitting the ground and rolling, her ball pulling her out of the spin rather quickly and dragging her. Devika heard glass shattering, but didn't see what was actually happening.
In a confused heap, the girl tried to right herself. Were those... people? Was someone talking at her? She let out a long and confused wail, "Wuuuulfram?"
--
Conall hesitated for a few moments as he tried to think of a straight answer for the Corvie. "I'm okay... I think," he said as he eyed the window suspiciously. "There was something wrong with that thread. It was magic."
His brow furrowed as he listened to the adults. Maybe they should just investigate rather than talking to each other about potentially finding people? Honestly he just wanted to find a safe place to curl up and be done with the nightmare.
The canine mix was completely unprepared for the sudden intrusion of a shrieking thing. Something--one actually--was thrown from the bird things mouth before it crashed through the window. It was a good thing he had decided to move away from that, huh? He desperately clung to the deer as the surreal event came and went.
The girl was sprawled on the floor looking throughly confused. She looked to be a bird with... something strange on her head. What...? He took several steps back as he looked between the girl and the aftermath of the shrieking creature.
"That... it... looked like..." he started, unable to properly finish his statement.

Wulfram hadn't even had time to open his mouth and apologize before the Ace did something strange. Nuzzling Devi and then... grabbing her. The small calm that descended over him was gone in a burst of speed as he rushed over the Ace, barely able to stay on it's tail but he was close enough that he never truly lost sight of it. Once he caught it, he was going to kill it. Around the corner, the Ace shrieked as he rushed headlong into a strange group. Wulfram skidded onto the scene in time to see Devi fall and watch the creature burst through the window. He didn't stop, didn't acknowledge the group, just rushed to Devi's side. He slipped down beside her, resting on his knee in a way he would regret very soon. "Shh. I'm right here. You're safe now." At least in that moment of horror he'd been able to forget the panic he'd felt earlier. She was here now and the Ace was gone. That's all that mattered. Lucius gave the Heron an odd look, frustrated and degrading as was the looks he often wore, but never had a chance to give him the properly snarky retort that was laying in wait on his tongue before the Ace barreled through. It was only by the grace of the creature's shriek that he'd had time to dodge out of the way. Bloody Suits, what was that?! It shattered through the window and was gone, leaving a very perplexed serpent to stare at the aftermath and the bizarre woman until... oh! His expression brightened instantly the moment another Tulgey appeared. This was much better. Well... That was all terribly unexpected. Malachior's brow furrowed momentarily before one slowly arched in realization and pained understanding. "That," he muttered to Conall, "was the Ace you saw at the top of the stairs, wasn't it?" Sabe was speaking to the woman and she was wailing... Wulfram? The old buck could've burst into laughter. As it was he struggled to contain himself even as the white crow burst around the corner, bleeding slightly from his leg, and rushed to her side. Apparently time had answered many of his questions. What had happened to the Ace double, and what was going on down that hallway. If Wulfram was involved, they were probably better off not knowing. "Your Majesty." He said in greeting, the faintest suggestion of a smirk quirking the corner of his muzzle. "Are you two alright?"Wulfram froze at a familiar voice greeting him, brows furrowed as he jerked his head around to see who was speaking... Malachior. His tension eased instantly at the recognition and he allowed himself a moment to simply stroke the girl's head reassuringly. He didn't have to watch his back so heavily with Malachior here. "Feck. Malachior! Goot to see you. Ve... seem to be fine. Ja, Devi?" His hands slid from her head to her cheeks and, if she wasn't already, he'd gently lift her gaze to his. "You see, my dear, zhis is vhat happens vhen ve get separated. Please stay close to me from now on, even if it's scary, und I vill protect you."Well, perhaps this incident wasn't entirely detrimental after all. Perhaps she would learn her lesson and resist the urge to follow strangers next time. (Long post is long, sorry!)

((The upstairs leads to a long, dark hallway with very little light. The doors are all locked and at the very end of them, stands a thinner door than the others... With a small key sticking out of the lock. Looks like it should be able to be turned. Careful though.
There's no one about, and if there was someone up here to turn the lock... Where are they now, and why did they leave the key?))

The mildly confused girl gave a small nod and chirp at the Tulgey Queen. She felt mildly sore from the whole ordeal of being flung around, and it was still a bit surreal that any of it had actually happened. The Ace had been so sweet and he seemed to have met well until... things fell apart. "I.. I will..." she said after a moment.
She looked at all the people who they had run into. They were all quite strange. She stuck as close to the crow as possible, inspecting the people from slightly behind him. Apparently they were going somewhere because they were also trying to find nobles from the Court of Hearts.
---
Conall was terribly surprised that everyone was talking this all so well. The Ace flying through the window, glass breaking. He quietly waited for things to be sorted out as he glanced at the window.
Ultimately they were going upstairs if they liked it or not. There was something in the attic. Someone. At this point they seemed to be the same thing. The boy eyed the strange Torquehelm as they ascended the stairs. What were those things sticking out from her head? She looked like an adult but she wasn't really acting like it.
When they arrived at the top of the stairs. It was dark, and creepy, just like the entire place was. However there seemed to be a bit of evidence that there was actually someone around. There was a door with a key in it.
That was probably they sound they all heard. Unless someone went through one of the other doors. Which was possible at this point.
"So, is there a... battle plan?" Conall whispered.
