Ez watched in horror as the copy of himself suddenly shifted and twisted. The wings falling off and a good deal of screaming going on. The sparrow couldn't think the move as his eyes were glued on the thing.
He suddenly understood why it had been pretending to be Zane. That was obviously not something that could walk down the street. That was obviously not something that should exist period. Suits only knew how it was standing in front of him.
Well, it wasn't standing there for very long, the sparrow sqwaked when the monster suddenly bolted towards the bed. "Wait--gah--No!" The sparrow tried to do something (1) but promptly lost his balance from surprise and shock. He hit the ground with a thud as he watched the creature skitter in disgusting fashion that he didn't think was possibly. He could feel the urge to vomit rising.
He actually felt bad for it too. It had been so nice and confused and he had given it--Argo--false hope. He should have been honestly terrified but there was a strong pang of guilt trying to overwhelm it. He watched as it disappeared, a click sounding as well. Shoot.
---
The giraffe tilted her head as Mirriam tried to shield her from something. Obviously things were not going... well?
At the sound of the shrieking the young giraffe jumped. She didn't go very far, considering she was almost sitting to cuddle the bat in the first place. She let out a small terrified shriek of her own as she watched the creature transform.
That was not like her Mommy. And that was not like anything she had seen before... not.. not that she had seen much before. She watched as the thing ran to the bed, and under it.
That meant Argo was scared right? Screaming and hiding under the bed was what she had done when she was scared the first time. Her eyes widened for a moment before she decided to stand up, walk over to the bed and stick her head under it. "Argo? Are you still there? Please don't be scared... Mirriam and Ez are really nice. They helped me after my Mommy... um died. Morgan's kind of friendly too." She tried to search for a sign of something. She really hoped he wasn't gone.

Mirriam let out a startled squeak as, where a moment before there had been an Avian, there was suddenly...something she couldn't really find the words to describe. Something long and skinny and...wrong on a level so fundamental it made the fur on the back of her neck stand up. Her wings flapped nervously, once, twice...and then she could only stare as the thing skittered under the bed like an enormous spider. But then again...Mirriam was never as afraid of spiders as some of the other children. And despite being a bit weird, the creature hadn't hurt them. Also, the little Bat was insanely curious why it had looked like Zane before...was that what Jokers looked like?
"Argo?" Mirriam chorused, adding her voice to Gigi's and also moving over to peek under the bed. She sneezed a bit as her leaf-shaped nose brushed against the blanket, and squinted into the darkness. "Gigi's right. It's okay! We're not going to hurt you, and we're sorry we landed in your room." She tried to tilt her head to look further under the bed and frowned as her antlers caught the blankets. "Oops..."

Argo was its name? Morgan caught that, vaguely, before the back of the picture frame opened in its mouth and it received another jolt. It... it should have known better. It really should have. But the object was just an empty picture frame and the weird not-Gigi's-mother had been so intent on it... and the ability was probably why.
But there was something on its tongue. that had fallen out of the frame. It awkwardly wriggled its tongue against its teeth to dislodge them. When it tried to tilt its head to see what they were, it couldn't find a good enough angle without - OW! It whined very lightly, shoulders hunching and drawing its neck back, still at the most awkward straightened angle that it could imagine.
It didn't understand what was happening. It had been tuning out the conversation between... Argo... and everyone else for most of the duration. It was finding that it just didn't have the energy right now, or the concentration, to really care about what it knew it should.
And then the bird turned into a twelve-foot-tall monster that looked as impossible as it sounded, dwarfing the room and everyone in it. Morgan stared. And screamed. The sound started low and ended on a terrified squeal that faded into a choked, panicked sound. Then the thing just rushed at the bed and it jerked itself backward as best it could, which wasn't very well at all, its neck rolling backwards along the cot and its legs kicking out for balance.
"Nonono, no, what?! No! What?! NO!" it gibbered in terror, trying to back itself as far into the corner of the cot as was physically possible. The slips of paper on the table were entirely forgotten.

Gigi was content with trying to coax the strange man-monster-Argo out from under the bed. Her entire head and neck were under there by the time Ez was trying to collect himself. He sighed heavily as he pulled himself up from the ground.
His butt felt bruised, and the sight had left him a bit queasy. At least the girls were taking it well, though Morgan seemed to be spazzing rather nicely. The sparrow eyed the door that Argo had been trying to slip out of during their encounter. It couldn't exactly hurt to peak, maybe his brother would be around.
Though it was difficult to imagine what could be related to Argo. It was possible that the awkward man was a Joker. There was plenty of proof that they existed--considering Eilwyn and Elyse and birthed Khloris--but he had really hoped that was just a freakish occurrence. The bird turned the door knob slowly pulling it open so he could careful inspect where they were.
Gigi whined a little, bumping up against the bat as she wiggled a bit further under the bed, "Argo, please come back, you were really nice and we're really sorry."

(( Gigi saw nothing under the bed but dust and a dead spider...and...on the far back wall. A door. A tiny, oak door...it smells a bit like damp and mold, seems to be locked though...
Ez, on the other hand, pulled the door open to reveal what looked like an old attic. Creaky floorboards are covered in dust and loads of furniture and old coat-racks (are they coat-racks?) covered in sheets.
As Ez sticks his head further around the corner, a large, black-furred hand makes a swipe out of nowhere behind the door to grab him by the neck! (18)
A massive Wolf, black with only a streak of off-white down his throat, a Queen of Hearts symbol on his chest, makes the attempt to drag the Sparrow up, however gently, to face him. "I will ask you once. Who are you and why are you in this room?" He hissed, large teeth poking out of his muzzle as his red eyes glare into Ez's own. Mirriam's large ears hear both this conversation...and what sounded like a lightning bolt and...and some odd thumping sounds...further away though, maybe even a floor down?))~Nathalia

He wasn't there. Gigi let out a small sound of disappointment. But there was a tiny door. Could someone that big fit through something that small? She didn't think it worked that way, but what she thought didn't seemed to matter all that much. She sniffed the door curiously, sneezing at the scent of mold. Her tail flicked as she pondered what to do.
She gave the door a light head butt as a knock. Maybe she should try turning the knob to see if it was locked for real. "Mirriam, do you think you have another key like you did last time? There's a tiny door down here and I think Argo went through it."
And just for the sake of curiosity, she gave the door a lick.
Ez peered around cautiously. Well, this certainly was a strange place. Were those coat racks? Where the hell had they actually ended up? Of course pondering things didn't make him aware of the person in the room.
Before he knew it someone's hand was around his neck and he was being lifted. A very intimidating wolf, a Queen of Hearts, was staring him down. He had preferred Argo. At least he was nice. Then again he was trespassing in some warped fashion.
The sparrow turned on his diamond charm. He was clearly going to need it. "My name is Ezekiel, Sir, and I happened to be in the Court of Diamonds when I put my hand through a cabinet and I was dragged into the room behind me. I met a sweet young man who I seem to have terrified, and I was hoping that I could find the nearest authoritarian to help me. I apologize profusely for dropping in unannounced." He tried to give the man the best polite smile he could muster.

Mirriam blinked at Gigi, squinting in the darkness under the bed. She tried to scrabble a bit further under, pulling half the blankets off the cot as she did so with her antlers, but she was only just barely small enough to fit. "I...I'm sorry, I don't have another key," she said sadly. Her head tilted in thought. "Do you want me to try melting the lock?" She scrambled forward, further under the bed, and if the Giraffe moved aside she'd place her wing claw on a space right below the door knob on the wooden door and activate a small ability.
Of course, before she could see if it had any effect, she heard...someone threatening Ez? Out in the hall. He sounded scary. And it sounded like there was a lightning storm further away...or something. Her ears twitched and she frowned, backing up to get out from under the bed. "EZ?" she yelled, not realizing it would be stupid to alert whatever was threatening the Sparrow into knowing there were other Cards here.
Small Ability: Once a week, this ability allows the user to melt objects made of stone or wood that are the size of her hand or smaller into a viscous fluid similar to honey. It will re-solidify after 30 minutes/hours in whatever shape its liquid form took.

The more the others tried to... to communicate with that thing, the further back Morgan tried to press itself into the corner. Unfortunately, there were several physical limitations, one of them being the wall. It retreated as best it awkwardly could, neck screaming with tension, and just generally cowered. If it had eaten anything in its short life, it might have been worse. As it was, it very faintly wet the bed.
It stayed under the bed. Except the others said it disappeared. Good. For the love of all, why would they want it to come back?!
"Please please please please don't open the door," it whimpered, eyes rolling to either side and unable to see much. It either stayed relatively blind or pulled itself out of the corner. No... why...
Taking a stuttering breath, it slowly lowered itself more fully onto the cot. Just as Ez's body was mostly lifted off the ground.
Morgan screamed again, knowing nothing else it could do, and went right back into the corner.

((The Wolf very slowly lowered the Sparrow back to the floor, not yet releasing him as his ears flipped forward to take care in listening got exactly what he said. "If that is so...then you have nothing to fear. Especially if he didn't hurt you." He muttered, curling a lip a little disdainfully and brushing his hand off on his cloak. Fluffing out his shoulder fur, with a dignified snort, the Wolf opened his mouth to continue, when there was a scream, shattering the stillness. "By Odom!" He snarled, whipping around to watch something...a mix of some kind, backing away through the door.
His eyes widened. There was something familiar about it, but he quickly dashed the thought from his mind as his ears pricked onto more sounds from within. "Don't let them touch anything!" He hissed at the Sparrow, something in his eyes giving Ez the hint that his life may very well hinge on the balance. So saying, he stalked into the room, eying the legs sticking out from under the bed and giving a loud and definitely threatening snarl to the antlered man before him. "Out of my way." He growled, grabbing the longer pair of hooved legs and yanking them out from under the bed.
"Argo!" He called, voice low, and fiercely angry. "Argo, get back in here this instant! And you had better look properly!" He hissed, reaching again under the bed to yank at the Bats' legs too. (8) His fingers curled at her ankle and he growled.
The door under the bed shuddered as the knob melted off. If Mirriam pushed it forward, it would open onto a dark set of stairs and the smell of mold, strange furred things she's never smelled before...and the sounds of screaming...))

For a moment Ez gave a small sigh of relief. The man wasn't going to pound his face in? Who was this strange man though and what... what region was he from? The sparrow wanted to ask, but there was the screaming going on behind him.
The sparrow's feathers fluffed out a bit. Why? Why did everything have to go so horribly today? He cringed slightly when the man hissed at him. It was quite clear that he would be screwed if the children had done anything stupid. And they were children. Suits.
He slipped back into the room, "Morgan, please be quiet and be respectful." His eyes widened when the man went to grab for Gigi.
Gigi jumped a bit when Morgan shrieked. What was going on? Mirriam had said something about Ez. She watched as the door knob seemed to melt. Wooow that was really cool! Mirriam had really cool magic! She opened her mouth to ask what was going on and compliment the bat when she was quiet suddenly grabbed by the legs.
Confused the girl was suddenly not under the bed. She blinked a few extra times as she looked at the very large wolf who was very angry. He seemed to be yelling at Argo too. That wasn't very nice. "Sorry Mister. Argo got really upset when he stopped being Ez and we were just trying to get him to come out."
Ez made a soft distressed chirp at the girl and the fact that the man was manhandling everyone. "Suits, Gigi, please don't crowd around the cot. Sir, I'm so sorry, they're just children and they were trying to help."
