This was something rather surreal that he was struggling to comprehend. The sparrow drew away as soon as he could, eying the person who was standing in front of him. Person? Was that the proper term? The look was terribly unnerving. What did it mean that "it doesn't hurt?" The sparrow gave a small shrug, "My brother used to say I managed to learn the spell because I'm a narcissist. I haven't met anyone with a similar spell before."
His brow furrowed as the person continued to talk. Something strange was going on, and he was going to get to the bottom of this. Hopefully things would go a bit smoother now. Oh he prayed that was the case. "I'm Ezekiel," he said as he started to lay on the diamond charm, "We actually fell into your room through a cabinet. It would be nice to know where we are... and who you might be? A name would be delightful."
He looked over his shoulder at Mirriam when he spoke to her, feeling a bit bad for her and well...everyone at this point. He tried to give her a mildly sympathetic look before turning back to the thing-that-wasn't-Zane. Probably a good thing to keep an eye on him. What was he talking about not "working with girls."
Gigi stared for a long moment at the strange pair. She glanced over to Mirriam before pulling herself to a standing position. Her nose was running, her eyes were running, and she really just wanted a hug. She slid closer to Mirriam, considering she was the nicest person anyway. "I'm a girl too," she said in a tiny voice.

"It's okay," she whispered to Morgan, brown eyes on the frame as he picked it back up. How very strange! She wondered what it was and why it had such an odd reaction to landing on the floor. She jumped a bit at the next flash. "Try to be careful. Someone will yell at you in you break that," she told him, with a very small giggle which she quickly hushed. It wasn't at all appropriate to the situation.
On the floor with Gigi, Mirriam's ears flicked, listening curiously to the conversation between the two identical Sparrows. As much as she wanted to join in, she made herself stay back...until, of course, she was asked a question. "Oh, um, the only girl in this room? No, Gigi's a girl too and...why aren't you supposed to work with girls? That's kind of mean. His Highness taught me that girls and boys can still play together and...and lots of powerful Queens were...women." Her voice faltered a little as memories came surging back. She shuddered as she heard Khushrenada's voice as if it was addressing her still, firm and kind like it had been just that morning.
Silent tears gathered at the corners of Mirriam's eyes and streaked down her fur. She blinked them back and rubbed at her face with a claw. "S-sorry..." As Gigi moved closer to her, she automatically reached out with a wing to gather her into a side hug. The Giraffe seemed just as sad as she was...well, they had both lost parents today.

What a strange impression. Morgan tilted its head for a glimpse at the picture frame, mildly confused at what it had felt with its tongue. What had that been? It sparked something in the creature's mind, an impression that it was... a catch of some sort. A catalyst to opening or happening. "I won't break it..."
It tried to avoid looking at the double-Kings as best it could, part of its mind just not ready and able to handle what was going on just a short distance away. Not with the pain in its neck. Focusing on little, inoffensive things was a lot easier for it just then. Like the picture frame. It had flashed. That was... somehow a lot easier than whatever else was going on.
But a question caught its attention and a tiny frown accompanied the grimace of pain it had been trying to hold back. "I'm not a girl. But I'm not a boy either. Or maybe I'm both. I'm not really sure. So... I don't know." More nonsensical, confusing things. Questions that couldn't be answered. It was so tired. If it had felt comfortable with the word, it would have described itself as slowly becoming more 'loopy'. Exhaustion was becoming harder to fight the more the pain and discomfort weighed on its mind.
With a hesitant few breaths, it nudged itself the tiniest bit back forward as Mirriam paid attention to the giraffe on the floor. Then it flicked the catch with its tongue. Maybe it could answer at least one question in its tired mind. Maybe this would be a simple, inoffensive, easy answer.

((The "Ez" that isn't Ez, bobs its head in a comical imitation of an unintelligent bird and clicks its beak, happily. Listening intently, it seems to be enjoying playing with its new feathers, opening and closing the wings with delight, to respond. Until a direct question is asked. "Oh! you were the ones in the closet? Strange, um, I thought I had that thing, um...covered. Still! I'm glad to meet you, um...who are you?" It flips the wings open again and strokes them. "My name is Argo." It says with a grin, turning around in a circle, attempting to get a better look at itself. "This is my room, um...for right now."
The creature's head jerks toward Mirriam with surprise, as though it had momentarily forgotten she was there. "That's good! I think they should be able to...um, do those things. I'm just not supposed to work with them. I was told not to." He shrugs, glances at the others pointed out, and then tilts its head at Morgan. "Huh." It doesn't seem able to conjure anything else to say to a statement like that. Ez engaged it again, and it didn't notice when Morgan opened the picture frame.
The back tips lightly open and Morgan felt a slight twinge run through its body. Two slips of paper are in there, a bit of black paper covering them to make it seem as though the frame was empty, though Morgan can't see what's on them like this.))

Ez watched as the strange copy of himself bobbed his head and clacked his beak. He tilted his own head slightly. This person was kind of like a lost child. Perhaps he was a bit touched in the head like Myron was? Though perhaps the stitches earlier explained why he was acting this way? Though it was honestly a bit cute.
One day he would have children of his own. The sparrow brushed that thought aside as he quietly watched and listened. So he was the one who had made the... hole? And he hadn't covered it up properly. This was all so strange and disheartening. This person couldn't possibly be working alone could he?
After the thing spoke to Mirriam in a rather strange manner it turned its attention back the sparrow. He turned his diamond charm on again and gave a cheerful smile to the copy of himself. "I'm Ez, the young ladies are Mirriam and Gigi, and the other one is Morgan. It's an absolutely pleasure to meet you Argo." He motioned to the proper people where he needed to. "Could you tell me why your room is connected to the Court of Diamonds and where exactly your house is? Is... this your house alone or do you live with someone?"
Hopefully that wouldn't be too for Mr. Argo to handle.
Gigi sniffed pitifully as she watched the young bat. Mirriam was being so sad... she must have been upset about her Daddy considering what had happened to him. But she wasn't responsible for what happened like she was responsible for what happened to Zane. The giraffe made a small happy noise when she was dragged into the hug. She reached down as best as she could, licking the bat on the cheek with her long tongue. She sniffed again to try and stop her runny nose.
She glanced at the birds, her face wrinkling. This couldn't be normal. She looked back to Mirriam. She made a lot more sense.

Mirriam frowned. "Well, what kind of work do you do?" she asked innocently, turning her head a bit to see how Morgan was doing as it spoke. Her ears panned forward, and then back, as she tried to figure out what was going on. But the crushing sorrow was still too much to think past, and she unashamedly buried her head in Gigi's long neck while she tried to get herself under control. The physical comfort was helpful on many levels, and the Giraffe smelled clean and vaguely flowery.
She mumbled another few apologies as she finally pulled back, her head feeling like it weighed a million pounds when she finally managed to lift it, blinking large brown watery eyes. She felt a bit sluggish, emotions still pushing out logical thought for now, and she shook her head to try and clear it. "There's...nothing much here," she kind of whispered. "Maybe we should...go back..." But what then? What if the palace was still strange with everyone asleep and Cards exploding to make babies? And with Khushrenada gone...was the Court really home anymore? Would it ever feel like home?

((The alter-Ez chirps a little, obviously playing with its mouth as it listens. "Um, um...thank you. It's good to meet you too." It waves around the room, still nervous, but obviously opening up.
"Gigi? Gigi is a good name, I like that one." He moves all of the toes and smiles, wiggling. "My room is here, alone-ish, just because no one knows where it is. My brother says no one would bother, they're too busy. Oh! Um, it's wiiiiith...the Diamonds because I had to get a friend there." His head tipped at the Bat speaking, as though he'd forgotten she was there again. "I, um...I'm not supposed to talk about my work." He says, shyly, an odd look flitting across his face for a second, before he grabs the wings for reassurance. "It's kind of special. Secrets, you know?" He gave Ez an odd look. "Oh...isn't this, um...doesn't it work? Like on you?" He asked, a look of mild panic crossing his face as the spell begins to wear off...the creatures head begins to get very subtly longer as an odd black mist begins to seep out near his feet. "Noooo...nononono, I like these!" The creature whimpered, clutching the wings.))

Gigi was happy that she could actually be useful. Mirriam seemed a little better. She gave her a gentle nudge and a smile. She didn't understand why she was apologizing. It seemed like an odd thing to do.
And the double of Ez was kind of nice. She blushed a bit under her fur when he said her name was pretty. She grinned. "Thank you," She said brightly for a moment before focusing her attention back on Mirriam.
At least Argo was being nice enough to be helpful, even if he seemed a little off. The sparrow quietly listened to what he was saying, looking as bright and happy as he possibly could. He was grateful that Mirriam was also lightly chatting with him, it made everything less terrifying. Though the fact that he had to pick up a friend in the Court was worrisome. And that he was alone-ish...? And what did he mean about his brother....?
"I'm sorry we fell into your room unannounced then, though I am glad we happened upon someone as nice as you." He titled his head at the secret comment. That look wasn't encouraging either. And then the panic seeped into his voice.
The spell was wearing off. Damnit. Why now. The sparrow tried to look calm, as the creature started to change. Was he... getting longer? "I'm sorry Argo, my spell doesn't last that long. I don't use it very often. Don't panic though, it's not a painful or anything." He backed up a half of step. Mirriam had mentioned something about leaving, but even if they went the way they came that might not solve anything. What the--was that mist? Oh suits, what was Argo exactly?
Gigi looked up when she heard panic, saw something out of the corner of her eye. The sense of foreboding had never gone away, and when she looked up she felt like she knew the reason why. "Are you okay Mister?" she asked. She would have scooted closer to Mirriam if it were possible.

Mirriam nodded, slowly. She understood secrets, all right...one wing claw rubbed subconsciously at the other wing and the blue line spidering down it like branches of a tree. She turned to give a reassuring smile to Gigi, slowly regathering her composure around her life so many fallen leaves. The future...she couldn't think about the future just yet. She had to get through this first. And, more importantly, help the two children-who-weren't get through it.
She frowned when not-Ez began to freak out, moving to place herself in front of Gigi in a burst of protective instinct. The room, sadly, was still rather empty of plants, and she still didn't have a lot of spells she could use to help. The little Bat gasped as strange mist started seeping out from under not-Ez's feet. "What IS that?" she whispered, brown eyes tracking the movements of the odd substance.

(( The "Ez" screamed in agony and despair as the wings slowly sloughed off of his back to hit the floor with a meaty splat, then slowly fading into nothing. Its body elongated terribly, stretching, stretching, stretching...
Screaming the whole way, the sound becoming more and more surreal as it changes, the monster finally finishes changing. Horrible and as bizarre as it can possibly get, it stops, seems to stare down at itself... And bolts toward the bed...seeming to be aiming to go under it, skittering along abnormally on all fours in a way that makes those of weaker constitutions feel ill. Though others may try to rip or tear at it to stop it, it will vanish under the bed...something it ought not to be able to fit under...and a small click will sound after it...as though a door was locked...))~Nathalia
