((Sabe felt his body shudder as he hit the floor and something odd happened to his tongue.
Tongue Effect: The combination of the flame spell and all of the other damage to Sabe's tongue has caused it to heal itself out of stress...and to change color!? It's no longer the usual flat salmon color, now it's a bright blue striped with green. Once a week, he can lick anyone's body part or bits of them; a strand of hair or feather or fur, and taste whether or not they mean him harm.
Xiven slowly starts to feel the anger fading out of her and begins to beat a retreat back to the King's quarters, snarling in order to ward off these monsters in her Palace. The group hears a slight whispering sound...almost like wind...all around them, as something moves across the dark ceiling, just out of sight, and up the stairs.))

The snake was easy enough to handle. His marble double should have been capable of doing enough damage to keep him distracted. She turned back to the bird, her anger was starting to wavier.
With the last bit of her furry she jammed her foot in the Queen of Clubs back, her claws out as she raked them across. She picked grabbed his "damaged" wing and yanked out a fist full for feathers to prove that he was more than powerless against her. As she pulled away she raked her claws along his back before backing away to the stairs.
They wouldn't follow. She gave them another snarling hiss for good measure and made her way quickly to the stairs.
---
Conall shook his head emphatically. "There's another Ace. There was another Ace that looked like him but normal. There's something bad going on."
He decided at this point to draw closer to the Corvie. And then there were whispers. His fur stood up awkwardly as he looked for the source of the voice.

The sudden darkness made Fetu jump, an aborted scream strangled in her throat as she stared around in the sudden clarity. Chaos - absolute chaos. What was going on in this place? With the nobility? This was not supposed to-
-there it was again! Her attention caught between the flash of the thin creature and the ghostly apparition rising from her lantern, she didn't notice when Xiven's spell missed Lucius and slammed into her, wrapping her legs in thick rings that held themselves together with a heavy chain. She fell forward and just barely didn't drop the lantern, rolling so that it landed on her stomach. The move was instinct - she winced at the awkward angle of the fall and the sound of her exposed ribs complaining. She would be incredibly lucky if one or two hadn't cracked, and then wouldn't that be a bitch and a half to mend?
Fighting continued all around her. The officer rolled, wincing against what she was now fairly sure were a few cracked ribs, and awkwardly fumbled away from the Queens as quickly as she could. Reaching around behind her to hook the lantern on her belt just wasn't feasible with the chains and she didn't want to risk it, so she carried the thing along with the handle in her mouth.
She glanced back every few seconds at the fight, watching the royalty have at each other in a battle she would not want to be a part of. On her next glance back, there were two Tulgey snakes and she didn't know if the apparition were the fault of a compatant or the snake himself. Hell... at least the Queen seemed to be leaving them.
Thank the world for small blessings. She grunted and made her way towards the Spade King and the freakish child as quickly as she could.

He couldn't do much any more, he looked up through a bruised eye as he watched helplessly as the others were being tormented by the Mad Queen. He kinda liked that name, the Mad Queen. He would have to tell this tale at some point if he ever survived this night.
He quickly spotted the marble snake materialize to take on the Tugly snake. He couldn't do much right now, he could barely move right now, but something started happen. He started to choke a bit as he grabbed his jaw line as he felt a seeming fast healing that he hadn't expected. He coughed a bit and found that his tongue was healed... his mouth was decent, though not fully healed, but his tongue was.
As he started to get up he felt a heavy paw slam into his back forcing him back on the ground, feeling the claws digging deeply into his back, he let out a howl of pain as he dropped to the ground. His free hand trying to stop what she was doing, and yet he felt more pain as she grabbed a hold of his left wing gave a good handful of his feathers and ripped out some of the most pretty ones. He dropped to the ground watching her strut up the stairs.
Was she leaving for good this time? He hopped so... he couldn't take too much more of this abuse. Especially from the Mad Queen.
After a moment... he gripped his cane in his good hand and attempted to get up... it was hard. His pain was great and tears flowed from his eyes as he couldn't keep up with this. He was almost to his limit as blood dripped from his wounds, dirtying the floor underneath his clawed feet... how much blood did one have anyways? Would he survive?
He gazed at the others. "Can... I get some help please?" he asked... after all... he did take all the ire of the queens wrath. It was his duty, no?

Lucius was still struggling to regain his breath when the nightmare serpent threw itself at him again. He was nowhere near ready to deal with the next impact and his attempts to block the blows were futile at best. At very least he was no longer being sandwiched between the wall and the marble beast but the jagged edges slashed easily through the rich fabric and flesh alike. The Tulgey hissed miserably, sliding back from the impact.
This time the serpent didn't need to recoil for its next assault, it just charged forward to close the gap between them. Lucius was able to get the staff between them this time, tried to fend the thing off, but the impact was enough to jam his shoulder back painfully. He groaned in agony and a sense of renewed fury. Blasted thing! Blissfully unaware of the fight ending elsewhere in the Hall, Lucius's only focus was to get out from under the monstrosity's relentless attack.
Once again he found himself between a wall and the beast, but this time he was prepared. He held his ground till the last moments and then swiftly ducked aside. It crashed into the wall with an explosive clash as rock shrapnel flew away in all directions. Lucius hissed in satisfaction but the creature reacted more quickly than he could have ever expected. It spun and hurled itself at the serpent before he had any chance to prepare himself for it.
The final collision was certainly the worst. It clipped Lucius on his jammed shoulder, made the bones scream in protest as they were further forced together, and seemed to explode with the force of the impact. The majority of the marble shrapnel embedded itself in his injured arm and right side but the worst of the pieces slashed across his face. The deep gouge spread from his upper cheek bone to the bridge of his nose, shallow but excruciating and gushing blood down his pale cheeks, but it was a small cost to pay to see the monster in pieces at his feet.
The disoriented King stumbled the few feet to a table near the wall and slumped against it to blot the bleeding gash on his face with the handkerchief tucked in his sleeve. His clothes were in tatters and he could tell there was blood trickling down his right side from the numerous nicks but he was alive, The Queen was gone and, from the look of it, he was in considerably better shape than the Club Queen. The snake snickered vindictively.
The brutal battle had finally come to an end, but that didn't seem to be the last of their problems. Conall's comment was worrisome, Fetu was ensnared in a strange binding, The Queen of Hearts was gone but the Heron was in bad shape. He frowned at Conall but gave the boy's robin-free shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Stay right here. We'll deal with the Aces once I've taken care of them." He made a slightly disapproving noise but released Conall's shoulder and made his way toward the injured Heron.
He'd only made a few steps toward the wounded Queen before the strange whispering started. He hesitated, eyes scanning the room uncertainly and landing on the black wisp vanishing up past the stairs. Suits... What was going on? He let out a suffering and uncertain sigh and closed the distance between himself and Sabe.
"I don't have the proper materials to mend all of these, but I can at least stop the bleeding and ease the pain. Please stay still." He kept a small supply of salves on his person that worked well with his water ability. If Sabe will let him, he will slather the ointment on the man's major wounds and then activate his water ability. The combination will dull the pain a bit and do a wonderful job of stopping the extensive blood flow, though Sabe will be soaked quite thoroughly.
Strong Magical Ability: When activated, he can create up to two gallons of drinking water up to two times per day.

((Fetu slowly slumps over and seems to pass out in her chains...hmmm, probably best to put her in a corner and cover her with one of those wall hangings, seeing as Sabe can't really carry anyone now. Xiven's speed up the stairs is almost unheard of, in fact...she seems to vanish, quite completely once she reaches the top... The marble serpent attacking Lucius does not rise again, it slowly crumbles on the floor, becoming a large amount of dust that will soon blow away. The whispering continues, surrounding them in a mesh of voices that all seem similar...and yet not, threshing together into nonsense and none of it quite distinguishable.))

Sabe sat there on the ground and let him work on his wounds. Why should he fear someone else now? Even the ace now had a good chance to send him to the next world if he wished. He breathed a sigh and nodded as he felt the water fall all over him as he felt the warm sensation of the salves started their work. He breathed a sigh as he closed his eyes for a moment, listening to what was happening around him.
Whispers... who was talking to him? He couldn't figure it out but he soon realized that things were not as great as they seemed. Not only couldn't he make out any sounds, but he found that he couldn't even hear some of the others.
He looked about just in time to see that Fetu had slumped to the floor. Things were getting out of hand, the other ace was just standing around, the child that was with them had started talking about another ace that ran up the stairs as well. He gave a sigh, and with the help of the other did he come to his feet, just to realize that he had no ability to hold anyone save for himself at this moment. How cruel of a fate, to not be able to help those around him.
"I... can't do much more. Please can someone cover her up some? Maybe in a corner? It would be worse to carry someone... if something like this happens again." he said as he looked to the snake, realizing that he too had faced the ire of the 'Mad Queen' as well. It was a shame though... to leave someone behind, and yet... he figured no one else would want to carry her as well.
"So what now?" he asked as he turned to the others, "Thank you by the way. . ." he said as he moved a bit towards the others.

"Ah..." he said as he watched the Corvie do his job, feeling awkward. Terrified. So very not helpful. The Club Queen was saying things.
The young boy blinked rapidly when the strange Hisstor woman slumped over. Well uh... now... that was interesting. Things were still whispering. Were they people? Should he actually stay here like he was told.
He gave a small sigh as he went over to the woman. It took a good deal of effort, but he managed to drag the woman out of the way. At least no one would step on her or anything. Though, really, no one was safe here from what he was gathering. There was something wrong with the Queen of Hearts, there were creepy voices, identical Aces, so dragging her into a corner was a bit of a moot point.
He sighed as he decided to walk over to Lucius to see if he could do anything useful while ignoring the creepy voices. He really hoped they were just in his head, as they all started sounding the same. Nothing made much sense. "Is there anything I can do for you, Mr. Lucius?" he offered meekly.

Lucius was quite displeased by the state of his clothing and his own wounds. Most were shallow but his arm was persistently sore. He would get the old goat to set it for him once he was done with the Club Queen. When Conall approached him he gave him a briefly spiteful look before it faded into bland disinterest, he didn't have the energy to be nasty right now.
"No, Conall. I'm fine. Nothing my pain tolerance can't handle." He hesitated for a moment, obviously fighting with himself, and let out a low sigh. "Thank you for your concern."
Activating his pain tolerance ability, Lucius pushed away from the table to examine the unconscious Hisstor woman. Had those magical bindings done that to her? Guh. If so, he supposed he owed her some small kindness? He reached up and yanked down one of the wall hangings, a spiteful smile briefly touching his serpentine muzzle, and covered the unconscious woman. There, his small good deed was done and he could stop pretending he cared.
Malachior was quiet as he worked, quick and efficient despite the faint tremor that tried to creep into his once steady hands. His body just wouldn't stop reminding him of the inescapable effects of time, would it? Still, Sabe was patched as efficiently as Malachior could manage given the situation.
He glanced to Fetu as she slumped over, brows furrowed with worry but Conall seemed to be taking care of that. Very good. The buck's attention returned to the Heron and he offered him a hand to assist him in properly standing. "If I can locate proper materials, I'll stitch some of these wounds and try to minimize scarring but I can promise very little."
Lucius approached him once the Queen was up and gave him a very disgruntled look. "That thing jammed my shoulder, Malachior. I imagine you can adjust it?" It was obvious the snake hated asking for help and Malachior had to smother the urge to snicker at him for being forced into the situation. He offered him an affirmative nod and examined the bones briefly with his hands, the snake reacted very little so he had to assume his pain tolerance was activated. That was good. "This may hurt, potentially." He said out of reflex before an unpleasant crunch filled the air.
Lucius winced but that was all as he further flexed his arm. Much better. Malachior even used some of the pre-soaked salve to ease the bleeding on his cheek.
(Lucius's Basic Magical Ability: He can ignore moderate amounts of pain for up to an hour.)

((Outside in the carriage, Davy reawakens. He'd been pulled aboard by Fetu at the last moment, and in all the terror and strangeness...seems to have been forgotten. It's not far to the Palace from here, and he can hear people moving about in the main hall- Oh! Is that his group? He can scamper in and follow them, should he choose.))
