((The Capital seems a little unsafe for some reason today. Prematurely dark outside, an odd rolling fog, a distinct lack of pedestrians, and that strange spicy smell is making for one hell of a weird day.
Fetu was out on patrol when this mess started and she wandered over to a couple arguing over their lost daughter. She escorted them into a shoppe only to lose them when looking for the manager. Upon returning to the street, she found it entirely empty. What? A tiny, lost Tabby sought her out and is clinging to her with all the force an upset child can muster.
Davy had a similar shoppe experience. He stepped into one with his mother and sister, and then stepped back out, a mile from them, and alone. An odd shiver keeps traveling up his spine, as though he is being watched constantly, though no one seems to be there...
Sabe woke up outside of a bar. He could still hear people inside of it, but the streets were unusually deserted, especially since it didn't seem that late at night. Maybe finding an officer would be a good idea?
Your goal is to locate one another and make your way to the Fallen Wing pub and inn. The owner is a good sort, Avington, and he can probably find a way to get the kids' parents, if nothing else. ))

Children were not something that Fetu had an abundance of experience in handling. There had been few children in her life, from childhood to present, and most of them were encountered more recently on-the-job. People were always having issues with, about, or regarding their kids. Like now. The couple she had been trying to help. Where the hell had they gone? They weren't in the store anymore, not so far as she could tell. They were no longer out in the street, where she had initially found them. If they wandered off and ended up complaining to her superiors for the lack of help the Officer had given, she was going to seethe. Right at this moment, she wasn't seething. She was, in fact, holding very, very still as a little girl clung to her waist and wailed. She would have betted good money that this was the girl the couple had been looking for, except that she knew that they weren't Highland or Torquehelm, and their daughter had most emphatically been a bird. Damn. "I- I- I want my Mommy!" the girl wailed, clinging to the back of her jacket like a straight jacket. "I left my Queenie at home! I don't know where Mommy is! I don't know where I am! This part of the city is different! Who are you!" All of the words were cried loudly, up to and including the last question, making it more of an accusation or exclamation. With a few carefully won breaths - her bones were tight, and this child was pushing them even tighter against her lungs - she placed her paws carefully on the girl's shoulders and pushed. Nope. Nothing doing. "My name is Officer Fetu," the chipmunk wheezed. "I'd be happy to help you find your Mommy. Just... just let go a little."

Head splitting in two, eyes teary from smoke and a coin purse empty... this wasn't proving to be a great night for the heron. Most of all things would have been better if he could have remembered why he had been placed on the street outside of the bar, but he just couldn't remember... so if he went in, well... that could prove nasty as well, for he could have done something bad and if he reentered then he might get beaten up some and that wouldn't be good at all, no it wouldn't. He stood up from where he was using the wall as leverage as he craned his neck about looking for someone to ask where he was at, and yet... the streets were as deserted as the Wastelands high noon. Something was up and he just didn't like it one bit. Something was up, and it didn't feel quite right. Suits there was even a fog rolling in. That just sent shivers up his spine and down his wings. With a few steps did he find his cane and lift it in his hand, knowing full well that it would balance himself out as he tried to walk a strait line down the street looking for someone to talk too. Maybe some sort of authoritative figure would be the better bet. They would know right? So he started walking slow even steps, keeping a close eye about him as he moved, making sure that no knife was going to pop out at him in the middle of the night. It would be quite harmful to his reputation if he were to die tonight by some two bit mugger. (added after reading Jenn's post) Looking about in the shadows and listening for the slightest hint of something that could be harmful did he hear something that made him stop as the migrate pulsed in his head like a Highland's hammer on the anvil. He held his head and started to locate the sounds direction and figured out quickly that it was some child crying out for help it sounded. He quickly gathered his wits and put his slight drunk aside and rushed for the sound. Someone could be hurt and if he didn't do something about it then things wouldn't look good in his life. How could he, a Queen in the Court of Clubs, stand by and let something happen to a small female without him trying to help in some sort of fashion? He came about a corner and spotted the child and someone else. It looked like to him that the chipmunk was holding onto the little girl though the only thing that stopped him flat was the simple words that was ushered from the small things mouth. An Officer... "Excuse me... Officer Fetu I presume?" he said as he stayed his ground and leaned a bit more on his cane for support as the drunk quickly caught back up with him. "Your just the person that I was looking for!" he exclaimed as he leaned on the wall finding it a bit more sturdy than the cane that he was leaning on. "I'm in need of your assistance. . . I think? yes... I do need your help... where is everyone?" he asked as he placed his free hand on his head, the crying didn't seem to help the after effects of a ranting child.

Suits, what a mess. This girl just wasn't stopping. She had let up on the death-grip, but in exchange she'd started babbling near-incoherently into the wrinkled jacket, alternately sobbing and letting words just stream out of her mouth. She was mumbling utter nonsense in a low, distraught voice, something about following ghosts and losing her way and whatever else preoccupied a child's mind. Was she playing some sort of game and got away from her parent? Probably. At least she got the girl's name out of all the mess, or what she thought must have been her name.
"If you would just calm down and answer a few questions, I might be able to help," she told the child awkwardly. "Tabby? Tabby. Please, just- stop, Tabby, stop and listen. Please."
And then another voice and another presence made itself apparent, and her head jerked up from its tucked position regarding the girl. She was glad, yet again, that these sunglasses worked better than the cheap pair she'd found in the rummage sale so long ago. Having an actual salary helped with things like that.
"Ex... cuse me?" Fetu asked in utter bemusement. The situation as a whole was just ridiculous and strange. She took a breath and got a little more steady. He knew her name because she'd just said it. He probably wasn't looking for her personally. There was an explanation for all of this, however... weird it may have been.
"Pardon, sir. It's a bit of an odd night. I'll be happy to help." If she could only figure out what the hell was going on herself. "Seems too quiet to be real. This girl has lost her mother. I was helping someone else until they lost themselves. I'm not entirely sure what's going on yet."
Tabby raised upset, tear-filled eyes to the officer's face. "The ghosts were all so upset. Everything's weird today..."

Now, Davy wasn't a little kid any more. But even a teenager would panic when his mother and sister disappeared. Running quickly down the street, he couldn't help but continue to look over his shoulder. It was as if someone was -there-, but he couldn't see them. Every now and then he'd check his arms, to make sure he truly was -there-. And he was, solid as any other person and nobody was around. Or… were they? There was a voice, and they weren't corporeal at all. He turned the corner quickly, heaving out a breath of relief at the crowd of.. relatively normal individuals. He paused for just a moment as he noticed a rather rare Hisstor. There was a familial pang at the thought of Xolani.. but it was over in an instant; she'd ran off on her on volition. It was his mother and litter sister that he had to worry about now. "Beg pardon. Have ye happened to see two Midori? A Human queen of clubs, an' a squirrel mix girl with only one wing? We were out shopping, an' I turned round to see dey weren't deer any more."((Gaaaah sorry that took so long))

The heron looked to the officer and nodded, as he tried to stand back up and found himself on legs that seemed almost made of jelly. It was good though, he did have his cane after all. He turned to the small child and tried to remember if he had seen anyone that looked vaguely familiar as the child did and found himself not being able to remember quite well. He listened closely to the small child and gave a involuntary shiver as he himself felt the chill of the night.
"Ghosts? Why would they be upset ma'dear?" he asked as he craned his neck down so that he could be on eye level with the small child. Though he was about to ask more when he heard the padded foot falls of someone running. He turned quickly and found himself staring at something that was familiar though.
He listed to what the young teen had to say before he started to work his mind about the situation. He was Midori... human queen of clubs... a squirrel mix girl? It was worth a venture.... after all it seemed that he carried some remarkable resemblance to his mother.
"My boy, is your mother Zuberi of Midori Beach, the Voodoo lady?" he asked as he stood up so he could give the boy some respect, "If so then your quite in luck, because I know her from some time past. I'm sure that she has spoken of me? I'm Sabe, Queen of Court of Clubs... She is on my retainer by a mutual understanding. So with that said, I'll help with unbinding this mystery if you would have me Officer Fetu." he said with a small bow.
Suits! He hadn't seen that woman in quite some time... he knew that she was pregnant the last time that he had met her, but... Wow the time flies by quickly when you don't realize it. He decided that he wouldn't stop until he had helped the children find there missing parents.
After all.... he was royalty.
((It's ok, ^_^b))

More lost people, as the Midori approached and shared his story. What was going on with the city today?! Fetu gave him a quick once-over. Another chipmunk. Huh. Small world. She didn't see too many of her breed just wandering around. He looked young, despite all that facial hair.
"I'm sorry, but I haven't seen anyone matching that description," she mumbled on auto-pilot. The girl's whimpering into her chest was really starting to get to her, pinging her discomfort meter on several levels.
At least the Kahmden Queen seemed to know something of the young man's plight. Good. Excellent. Small world indeed, and wasn't it just creepy enough to send a shiver down her spine? Yes. It was.
And a titled Queen of Clubs. Hell. Full of surprises, wasn't he? Fetu ducked her head in an automatic polite reflex, almost bumping the girl's ears before she stiffened back up again. "Your Majesty, I would welcome your assistance. Thank you. If we can locate this girl's mother and this young man's companions then you will have gone a long way towards helping the Capital Police Force."
Tabby had remained silent for this brief exchange, openly watching the Midori chipmunk with some measure of distracted distress. At least he redirected her attention? But when her Mommy was mentioned again, she hiccuped a few times in rapid succession before clenching her fists tightly into Fetu's jacket.
"I don't know why the ghosts are so upset," she answered in a small voice. "I didn't get to talk to them for long. I was... I moved around a lot. That's how I lost Mommy."

The chipmunk frowned notably. "In luck that you'll know her when you'll see her, but I not be countin' meself lucky till I know both me mother and sister are alright." Despite his almost curt words, he gave the Clubs Queen a respectful nod.. but he wasn't the sort to grovel, or get nervous around others of his suit. It was hard to be anxious around ranks when his mother was probably one of the most impressive Queens (in his biased eyes, hehe) that he knew and aspired to.
The name sounded familiar though; hell, maybe even his face looked familiar, though it had been years upon years since he'd probably even had a chance to meet the man. His mother often left his sister and himself in the hands of family back home when she had to go to the Courts for the rare occasion that she was needed.
Davy's nose twitched in something of a nervous reflex at the mention of ghosts. Heh… they were a part of his daily life, but even with his circumstance, he wasn't the sort to be able to openly commune with any of them. His mother had once told him that oftentimes, ghosts really wren't even aware of other ghosts around them.. and sometimes not even of people.
"I haven't been haven' me a commune with ghosts, but I keep getting' this feelin' that something be over mah shoulder. I usually don't get deem willy-creeps unless… well. Lesse jus' say dis isn't normal." Davy said in a quick fluster, looking around anxiously as if expecting his mother to round the corner. The fear of the other child was nigh on infectious. Where their parent's safe?

Sabe tried to do his best to sober up as quickly as possible. Things were bad enough as they were, it never really helped when you were slightly intoxicated while trying to do something important. He had already made that mistake once when he had took a bit of a drag or two from a flask that he had tucked away in his study in the courts and accidentally stamped something that wasn't suppose to go through. So in essence... a new washroom was attached to the common rooms... where one already existed. He mulled the facts through his muddled mind trying to grasp the situation as best as possible. He had already achieved this once when he had to quickly figure out who the Madori was, and that seemed quite sustainable piece of information. So now the fact of Ghosts. . . Suits! He didn't know a thing about Ghosts in the first place! He knew of some folklore that he had heard about the Court of a ghost that apparently haunted the North Gardens, though all the times that he had ever been there he had never seen one or even heard of the infamous moaning sound that they apparently did. So the issue with these Ghosts where that there were many of them and only children see them off and on... He took the nod from Fetu and did a nod as well, showing that he saw her affiliation towards his rank, though he really didn't expect much from the small child that clung to her. After all she did just lose her parents. Though the Madori teen was a different story. He really didn't expect much from him knowing the way that his mother was, she was really not caring towards the whole "I'm a Higher Rank then you" routine. Though the small appreciation that he gave was sign enough that he had some respect... though not much. He turned to the children first. "Tabby... explain how you were moved about soo much? Was there a rush of people, or was it something else?" he asked as he then turned to the other child after hearing the response. "I share that same feeling... though what do you mean about unles?" he asked as he leaned down a bit so he could be on eye level with the teen. Though this did off set him about as he was still slightly drunk. When he regained his balance did he then turn to Officer Fetu... He lifted a hand and then placed it back atop of his cane, looking at her directly. "I have this weird feeling of being watched... I think it would be best to get the children off the street and into a safer area." he said as he looked about the place noting the darkened streets. Things just were not looking up at all. He looked about and noticed that things were slightly dark and this fog that was rolling in or that was already starting to set wasn't helping either. So he closed his eyes for a second and started to mull the spells over in his mind... after locking on to the right one did he open his eyes and smile as he held up one hand in the air slightly. "Walk with me, as I am See with me, as I am Fall with me, as I am" He said quietly as a orb of soft white light appeared above his hand. It wasn't too bright nor was it too dim to light up the area. He wasn't using it for battle yet, and this would be the longest that he had ever tried to stretch it. He removed his and and waited for the go ahead to proceed.
♣ Small Magical Ability ♣ This ability can only be taught to another through favors or from one parent to one child. The parent can only ever teach it tone child and doing so loses them the ability forever. This magical verse:
Walk with me, as I am See with me, as I am Fall with me, as I am
As seen above, when recited will call to the SD a small ball of light that can be used to either light the way if it is dark, or in a fight. If used in a battle, it will fly at the face of the opponent deemed most threatening at the time and blind them for a span of time no shorter than five days, sometimes longer.
This spell can only be used once per week.

Fetu silently agreed with Davy's words. She didn't need to speak to "ghosts" to know that something was very, very wrong on the streets tonight. Her skin prickles and her fingers twitched just thinking about it all. She had lived in the Capital for a number of years and this was the first she had ever experienced anything even approaching overwhelming creepiness.
Tabby listened to the bird's questions and responded eagerly. He sounded official and important when he asked questions like that. He sounded like he could really help, like a detective! "Umm, it was more just me... um... wandering off. I walk sometimes when I can't see other people on the streets, only usually I try to stay sort of in one place, but I was following one. One of the ghosts. And, um. And it lead me to all sorts of places, talking, and it didn't know what was going on, and I don't even know if it was a boy ghost or a girl ghost, but it scared me with what it was saying. Not by being a ghost. Cause ghosts aren't scary, even when they're mean. Sometimes."
Listening to the girl's rambling convinced the officer that the child enjoyed playing make-believe. Often. Probably with the encouragement of her wayward parent. Sigh. No help there. "I feel the same, and I agree," she told the Queen in simple agreement. The light earned a quiet, involuntary hiss, but Tabby let go of her long enough to clap her hands in delight.
With a careful turn, the chipmunk glanced down the street in either direction. "We're in a mostly business district right now. The stores are feeling strange as well, however. I wish we were close to the station, but I don't know if I feel entirely comfortable walking the whole way there until we've established that the streets are safe."
