Aberforth grunted, and his muzzle pulled in what might be the closest the stoic Goat ever got to a grimace. Well...if they really wanted him to move with them, he would...after all, he'd given them ample warning that stealth wasn't anywhere close to his forte. Still, he waited an extra minute, ears flicking to try and catch any additional sound, before moving as slowly as possible after them, hooves trying to find the softest, quietest places to step.
He found that the slower he walked, the less likely he was to make a lot of noise. Still, his hoof beats echoed faintly as he followed the others down the hall. His senses were on the highest alert possible, ears panned forward and eyes darting around to try and see in as many directions as possible. He wasn't going to take any chances tonight...these were dangerous men.
Well, that and he didn't have any experience with fighting at all, so he'd rather it not come to blows.

The Tove let out a happy chirp at the mention of the word treat. Though it really never took head to the words "Don't" and "Fire." If it was in trouble it was going to light something up regardless of its master's commands... unless there was chocolate involved.
Fluttering in a ribbony manner the little creature slipped out of the room and wandered down the hallway. It wasn't long before it spotted the intruders. Letting out a rather loud chirp and did what it did best. It breathed fire and the people invading its territory.
Penny's ears had been pressed against her skull at the sound of Aberforth's hooves. They had been warned that he wasn't the stealthiest, but the sound of his hooves was a wonderful reminder. Crap. There was no way they were going to be able to get the suspects by surprise.
Of course Petunia didn't have that much time to reflect on things. The sudden chirp followed by a burst of fire light snapped her back to reality in an instant. With reflexes that she hadn't been aware of she jumped backwards to avoid the flame.
(Tove rolls a 12 for hitting anyone/thing in the range of its attack... Petunia rolled a 20 for avoiding the fire.)
Tove: This strange and weirdly ribbony creature is rather adorable when it isn't setting things on fire. Five times a day, it is able to shoot out five small blasts of fire. The fire catches quickly, though it doesn't burn as hot as it looks and people who are put to light will probably have more of a meltdown from the look of themselves engulfed in flame than from the actual pain. (Though it does hurt.) The fire gives off a heavy smoke and the flames are loud and crackling. The creature itself is flat enough to squirm under most doors and thin enough to get through most fences and enclosures. It responds very well to pet names and chocolate.

(Fetu rolled a 12 for avoiding the fire. Mezra rolled a 16. The hallway rolled a 10. Aberforth might be far enough back to have missed the diluted spell.)
Between their creak, the hoofsteps, and that very faint noise ahead, Fetu figured that any benefit of surprise had been used up in getting them in the building undetected. What she hadn't figured was that a gout of flame would suddenly come shooting down the hallway. She saw it as a burst of shockingly, intensely painful brightness before Penny suddenly jumped out of the way and she saw it directly. In that split second, she managed a shocked jerking motion sideways, which removed her from the direct blast. However, it hit along her side and rapidly spread across her middle.
Between the painful brightness and the sudden burning sensation along her side, she shrieked and summoned her Spade water to douse her with two gallons of sudden deluge from above. It doused her completely, soaking through her fur and jacket. The spray managed to put out the meager flames that had begun to lick at the hallway. She panted a little, whipping out her glasses with her eyes closed tight, and tried to move past the sudden headache. Damn. She really should have put those on before coming inside.
With gritted teeth and a burst of Spade sprint, she rushed at the creature responsible for the flame. (Rolled an 8.) Unfortunately, it was small and squirrely enough to elude her grasp and she ended up with nothing in her hands, and a startled Club in her face. "Mez!"
Before Pintel could react beyond a snarl and a shift forward in the doorway (rolled a 17), Mezra crouched and unloaded his quills. The large man yelled once, twitched, and slowly slumped to the floor in a deep, deep sleep.
Mezra's Attack: Often tired and slightly grouchy, this Mome is completely obedient to its master and can shoot the tiny quills in its back as projectiles. They contain a mild poison that will send any opponent below a Jack to sleep, make Jacks drowsy and incoherent, and Kings and Queens will be dizzy.
((Well. That was... a surprisingly good roll for the Mome. Hadn't expected that to happen quite so quickly. O__o))

Aberforth was highly paranoid and highly on alert. That was the only thing that saved him from getting toasted, despite being at the back of the line. He dove for the ground as soon as the loud chirp rang out, but even so he felt the heat pass close to his back and his tail got singed. ((rolled a 10 for defense, but since he was further back and jumpy.)) Magic. There was magic in this fight. The Goat's heart was pounding, and he was trying hard not to flash back to that horrible day...
The smell of something burning...not normal fire, but hotter, an acrid sort of smell like rotten eggs...there was smoke everywhere and his eyes were burning...
He shook his head and pushed himself to his hooves, refusing to let it get to him.
---
At the loud noises from the hallway, Raghetti finally woke up. "Whazzat?" he croaked, and when there was no reply, he sleepily opened one eye. "Pintel?" Hearing a yell...a familiar yell...the Weasel's eyes flew all the way open in a panic and he ran out into the hallway. "Pintel?" The first thing he saw was his partner...lying on the ground. Still. In his shock and the fact that he'd just woken up, Raghetti didn't see the slow, steady rising and falling of his partner's chest. Eyes widened further and he turned to stare at the three invaders.
"YOU! COPPERS! YOU...YOU KILLED HIM YOU BASTARDS!" With a hysteric cry, he put on a burst of speed and zoomed right toward the first creature he saw, the Hisstor. His teeth and claws were bared and his expression was manic.
((rolled an 18 for his attack on Fetu. Get ready guys. <3))
Moderate Ability: This SD was born with the ability to fly into a berserker rage if triggered. His trigger is the injury of family and loved ones, not all injury, but if he deems it to be grievous enough...and he is a bit dim...he will lose all control over himself and cease to feel pain for a full minute. During this time, he will hurl himself all over any attackers, using any abilities at his disposal (including his speed), any rocks he can find, and his own claws and teeth to try to drive off the perceived threat. Most spells that are not at least 100p or King or higher will simply bounce off of him or not rise to his level of conscious acknowledgment during this time. Once the minute has passed though, he will find himself very weak and unable to use any spells for a full day afterward.
Basic Magical Ability: He can run up to 40mph in sprints and 20mph for up to an hour in extended runs, once a day. He is also capable of sudden, quick, blurred movements in thirty second spurts.

The little Tove let out another surprised chirp when the chipmunk tried to grab it. It fluttered out of her reach. It could try to start another fire. However when the Corvie fell to the ground, the little creature hurried to its master's side, trying to nuzzle him awake.
Then the screaming started. Terrified the little Tove tried to hide under the sleeping figure.
Everything was happening in a flash. Petunia almost screamed when she saw that Fetu was on fire. The water raining down, however distracted her from such a thing. She needed to act fast, somehow. She wasn't good when it came to fighting... and it wasn't like she had a lot of magic at her disposal.
Why was she here again?
Her head snapped around at the shrieking. She saw the blur in motion. There were only a few things she could do: stand and watch, try to fight back or seek out the other scent that she had detected. She didn't have much at her disposal though... she could try to bite. That would at least slow someone down right?
The deer mix rushed forward, though by the time she was in position behind the man he would already be attacking the chipmunk. That didn't stop Penny from lunging forward to attack his tail or legs. She didn't particularly care where her bite landed, once she bit down she would try to pull him away.
(( Penny managed to roll a 19 for attack))

(Fetu rolled a 16 for avoiding the attack. Not enough to avoid, but probably enough to call up the spells at a moment's notice.)
Though a Spade herself, Fetu's reflexes weren't on par with the speed and ferocity of the man's attack. She saw him appear, heard his horrified yell, and then he was on her, biting and clawing and grasping at anything he could reach. The breath forced itself out of her upon impact and she called on an old ability, one of the most personally useful in her arsenal. The entire hallway plunged into immediate darkness.
When she managed a breath, she dragged the air into her lungs desperately and let out a short, sharp, high-pitched whistle. (Rolled an 18 to wriggle away.) Using the advantage of the sudden darkness and the instinctive spasm in her attacker, she kicked herself back and squirmed desperately away before skidding further down the hallway.
She could see perfectly in the total darkness, but she doubted her companions were so lucky. Likewise, the whistle would have affected both of them. She hoped that they could cope with the sudden surprise. With short, shallow breaths, she ran for the bone lantern she had left by the inside of the door upon entry.
He can absorb the light in an immediate area, plunging it into complete darkness for about ten minutes. No, he won't glow.
He can whistle a single, high-pitched, sharp note that will cause an instinctive spasm in any and ALL creatures.

What...what was even going on? Aberforth's ears flattened all the way at the scream, and as the strange man (who had to be the second criminal) blurred into motion, the Goat found himself struggling again against the upsurge of suppressed memories. He didn't WANT to remember, not now! He forced himself to take several echoing steps toward the fight...to try and help...
The darkness was nothing to Raghetti, nothing. The whole world was so red he could barely see anyway right now. All he saw was RAGE. It was all he knew. Even so, the high pitched whistle made him spasm, allowing the little Rodent to get away, and that was when Penny's bite landed. ((rolled an 18 for defense)) His tail flared in pain, but he was still in a beserker rage and didn't even notice the pain. What he did notice was the existence of another target. Twisting in midair he turned and began to claw and bite and scratch at Penny, screaming in wordless fury. ((only rolled an 8 for attack, though))
When the room plunged into darkness, Aberforth froze again. Now, he couldn't see anything, he could only hear the screams, and he could smell blood...
...and fire. There was smoke everywhere, and it was choking him, getting into his nostrils and his mouth and making him cough and choke. He shut his eyes and tried to run, but tripped over something. "MOM! DAD! WHERE ARE YOU?" He tried to scramble to his hooves, but the floor was slick with something, and he couldn't stand...there was the sound of screaming, horrible pain, and Aberforth yelled again for his parents, louder. A metallic smell filled his nostrils and he sneezed, shaking his head over and over to try and get his eyes to stop stinging...
When the whistle sounded, the Goat wasn't even aware enough to notice. He was no longer in the present. Aberforth fell to his knees, eyes wide, horrified, and staring into the past.

( Okay. Against the Whistle Penny's defense is 3, her recovery from the complete darkness is a 13, her defense against Raghetti's attack is a 10 and her attack on him is an 18.)
They should have had a better battle plan. If they had they could have avoided all this trouble. Penny inwardly cursed at their real lack of preparation as her teeth made contact with the Corvie's tail. The taste of fur wasn't something she particularly enjoyed--
And suddenly there was a sharp sound that made her entire body spasm. The surprise made her let go of her targets tail, and caused her to bite down on the inside of her mouth in surprise. A yelp escaped her as she fell backwards. Crap! The light was completely gone too! What the hell? How could she fight blind.
Filled with panic the canine mix almost took Raghetti's attack in full as he turned around to bite and scratch her. His claws did dig into her skin at some point, but she was too concerned with him trying to flatten her to notice the pain in her shoulder and the scratches he had landed on her muzzle. She sprung forward attempting to headbutt the Corvie in the stomach, throwing her full weight behind the attack. At least the mix of dear and dog made her sturdy.

Sparing a panicked glance at the suddenly prone form of the Tulgey, Fetu could only assume that this was an ability thrown out by the mad Corvie or the fire-bursting pet. Wonderful. She hissed to herself and dove for the disburbing lantern, the pains and bleeding from the man's attack distracting her. It took a moment to fiddle with, as she wasn't overly familiar with using the item yet, but she finally managed to remember the bug's call phrase. "Half light," she hissed through gritted teeth.
An insect appeared beside the lantern, no larger than her smallest claw and buzzing with agitation. "Attack the Corvie! she prodded, pointing off in the direction of the fighting.
But of course, the insect didn't have quite the same night vision that she did and hovered uncertainly before following the sounds of conflict. As it moved closer, it flew more confidently and aimed at the shape it knew to be its caller's intent. It landed a solid sting on some part of the man's upper body, its initial dive digging the point in deep, and then missed the two attempts that swiftly followed. (Rolled a 16, 9, 8.)
Insect: Whenever the owner of the lantern feels they are in danger, they may call forth a tiny insect, the size of their thumbnail, with the words: half light. The insect resembles a scarab beetle in many ways, except for its delicate body shape and large pincers. It is an iridescent black with odd Heart shapes on its wing case. This insect will summon itself to attack Clubs ranked ten or lower if it is after midnight and the Clubs in question are within ten feet. If the Clubs move ten feet from the lantern itself, the insect will have to retreat back to its owner...where it will sit and hiss angrily. This is not the case if the lantern owner then sics the insect on the Club, wherein it will act as it normally does when it attacks and be able to travel up to 100 feet from the lantern.
The insect engages combat with swift attacks aimed at soft, fleshy bits of the body, aiming with a sharp sting that causes instant, painful swelling, and thin, clawed legs. It is also equipped with large pincers that can deliver a poisonous sting, capable of knocking Cards ranked 6 and lower out cold, 7-10 to stagger and lose their vision for an hour, Jacks and Kings to begin vomiting copiously for a full thirty seconds (some passing out from lack of air), and Queens to lose the use of their 2-8 Ranked abilities for an hour. Each Card bitten will have a small Heart mark appear where the bite was given. The lantern is constructed from the bones of a young girl...a rather violent one, at that.
