Cauter put a hand up on his chest, about to regale the girl with information about the necklace, something he actually had information on, he was distracted by the sudden sound of an abhorrently low price offer behind him.
His wallet wounded, he spun about, spluttering.
"75?! My good sir, that's highway robbery, that is! I'll take no less than 90!"
He turned back to the Eagle, running a finger through his hair...what an attractive Range dweller...he usually only had eyes for those of Corvistowneian descent but...wow.
"Now my dear lady, I'm certain this necklace is something you'll love. Think you're irresistible now? Wait until you try this on, you'll have the boys crawling from miles around just to get a look at'cha."
He hiked his eyebrows at the last bit and wiggled them at her, grinning from ear to ear.
The charm on this neclace will ensure that males and females act like "proper" gentlemen and ladies when they're around you, though why they wouldn't in the first place I can't even begin to fathom."

She suppressed a jump as the shop keep spun around to face the other equine. She also stifled a giggle at his sputtering. He was defiantly interesting she did have to admit that.
She did not quite understand what he meant by ensuring that males and females act like "proper" gentlemen and ladies when they're around her but she could not take her eyes off of the beautiful necklace. She rarely wanted anything as extravagant as jewelry, food, shelter and kind offers were always enough for her, but this one thing she wanted badly and she was not really sure why.
She smiled at his manners and the wiggling of his eyebrows as she dug around in the small pouch that she had brought with her into the shop. "Umm...how much is it?"[/b] she asked while fumbling around with her claws inside the bag hoping that she would have enough funds to purchase the pretty little bobble.

Rai gave a low laugh beneath his breath; Cauter's reaction was refreshing and stimulating. He was also pleased that the other horse was evidently willing and able to barter. He rather hoped that this business transaction wouldn’t be the limit of their interaction; he had a feeling that the bipedal horse would be an amusing companion.
He glanced quickly over at the bone gauntlet again and felt something deep in his chest lurch at the sight of it. Was it really an opportunity to hear from Shin again? Or was he simply deluding himself? Again. His ears flicked back briefly. ”80 then,” he counter-offered. He didn’t like interrupting Cauter’s work on the bird, but perhaps a sale with him would help encourage the cute bipedal to haggle and not just accept the price, wotever it might be. His eras flicked forward when he heard Cauter’s explanation and he couldn’t help a low snort. That beautiful bird certainly wouldn’t need any help to get mates; she was gorgeous to look at already.

Cauter turned back to the green stallion with a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"Good sir, you wound me...perhaps 88 is more to your liking?"
He turned back to the pretty blue Avian, grinning again. What fun, good customers do make the day worth living.
"Now, as for you, dear lady, would 65 suffice?"
He chuckled to himself, the poor pretty thing didn't look like one to haggle, shame really, if she would he'd be tempted to grant her a good deal.
He waited to hear the Marsh dweller's response, eager to continue their "chat".

88… Shinrai hesitated again. He really was pushing it for even this much, but he –could- afford it; if he did his expenses correctly over the next week or so. His biggest issue was tapping into his savings, a likelihood that he had foreseen by bringing a chunk of it with him. There were better uses for it, but… It all came back to that lingering hesitation about Shin. Could he learn more about his brother now? Perhaps, the hidden dream, rarely inspected, never shared; perhaps somehow reawaken a ghost of that bond that had tied the twins together when they were younger? He could afford it. The chance, was that slim, tiny chance worth dipping into his savings?
Well, he wasn’t using it for anything else, and the profits El sent bi-weekly from their joint business would refill the void left by this small extravagance, especially if he was especially cautious to avoid any other excessiveness for awhile. Another hint of doubt touched his mind: he already lived a very frugal existence. He had budgeted so.
Perhaps he could save up and then come back--? Instantly his mind rejected the idea. There was too much fear someone else would snatch up the item that might, just might rekindle a long-lost relationship. It was worth it. He just had to be extra careful for awhile. No more luxuries or indulgences. He needed to do this for himself.
No going back, he mentally reminded himself as he gave Cauter a cocky, quirky smirk. This little item is a permanent fixture.
”83.” He did need to get the other horse down as far as he absolutely could, but he was still greatly enjoying their ‘game’. He hoped the beauty standing nearby was taking note of the haggling.

Theofilus had heard rumors about this particular little shop, like so many other people before him. If they were true or not, he didn't really care. He just wanted to look at something different for a change, and if something caught his eye all the better. The sparrow slipped through the door. He noticed that the shopkeeper was engaged with customers, so he took the chance to browse around uninterrupted. Creatures, armor and trinkets adorn the shop. None of the armor caught his interested, why would he need such things? He debated on getting the bracelet for Calia...but from a shop like this it might be quite dangerous. Suddenly his eyes caught a glimpse of pewter. If there was one thing the sparrow couldn't resist it was something elegant that was shiny, and that goblet fit the profile. Theofilus wasn't in a hurry, so he waited for the discussions to end before he spoke. "Might I ask what the story of that simple pewter goblet is, and perhaps how much your asking price is?"

Cauter smiled and shook his head at the vibrantly green Equine...the bell above the shop door rang softly as another visitor stepped inside. Time to end the tribulations with these two so that he could attend to the new guest.
Picking up the items they wanted carefully, he moved over to the counter.
"Sadly, my dear sir, 88 is the lowest I can go with this item, I'll just get it wrapped up for you. As for you, pretty lass, that's 65, if you please. I'll take care of these in just a second, feel free to browse further while you wait."
With that he hustled over to the tall Selkiean standing by the door. He listened to his questions on the goblet and grinned widely.
"Ah, that goblet's a beautiful and fine thing, my lord. A lovely creation, bejeweled and lined with jade. Drinking from it when it contains water is supposed to give the owner a vision of the next few minutes into the future. Drinking the juice of apples from it is said to give the owner the ability to see an image of the next person who will see them long before they arrive. Drinking wine from it is supposed to protect the owner from poison for up to an hour... If you put anything else in though... I can't guarantee the results."
He shrugged still grinning.
"I'd be willing to let it go for about 55 if you're interested."

88 it was then. Shinrai couldn't help the grin that showed his teeth, the smile purely amused. He was impressed with the other horse despite his own inability to negotiate the price further down. No, it still fit into his calculations for the day and he was still pleased that his nearly 'wild' bid had so much success. He –had- hoped for 85, but it was a difference of three and even this far had helped him avoid much from his savings. He dutifully followed the other stallion to the counter to count out the payment with care. He did sincerely hope that he would have a chance to interact with Cauter again at some point in the future.
”It was,” the stallion murmured quietly. ”A distinct pleasure to do business with you.” The Josiggy Marsh dweller gave Cauter his own toothy in grin, though it wasn’t nearly as large nor bright as the shoppe keeper’s. ”I hope to have another chance in the future.” And, with that, the horse collected his purchase and headed home to again mull over its strange possibilities.

Well, it seemed that the goblet was more fascinating than he expected. He could only wonder what horrible things would happen if someone drank something other than the recommended liquids out of it.
He said about fifty-five. Not exactly that amount. This meant the man was willing to bargain. That or Theofilus was reading too much into the situation, but that didn't matter one bit. He was going to make an offer one way or another.
He debated inwardly. It did have good craftsmen ship, and it had magical properties. He could offer the man thirty, but that was just insulting. Fifteen away from the asking price was reasonable enough, but that was his ultimate goal. He could compromise, or he could stop being a cheap skate and actually pay full price. Right, what sort of business man would be be if he did that.
"Would you be willing part with it for 35?" He knew full well that the horse would be offended. Even if it was only slightly.

[ooc: Forgive me this tiny little post, but I can't think of anywhere else I can make a single post for Helen before growing her up. ^^;;]
The bell that she'd looked at was handed to her post-haste, and she accepted it gracefully, slipping it about her head. It slid down her neck to land, gently, against her chest, where it would be as safe and secure as it made her. It was a good decision for one such as her, who often didn't pay too much attention to her surroundings. Or at least, she didn't appear to. Who knew if she actually did.
With an incoherant murmur of thanks, she turned to exit the store, absently dodging around a hairless green equine - wasn't he cold? - and a tall blue bird-woman. The both of them immediately assaulted the shopkeeper, who seemed to be rather relieved that she was leaving. How amusing, hm? It wasn't like she was a danger to anyone, despite the fact that the bell had obviously rung to warn him of her. Or maybe there had been another danger there. Who knew?
As soon as her hooves hit the streets, she was off and heading for her Mother, silver bell gleaming brightly from around her neck.
