((The scuttling noises start again, over near Zulimar. "I don't hate you..." Comes a small, broken sounding voice that is clearly, though faintly audible to everyone currently in the basement. Something darts by Horatio, flicking past him with something that felt like a long-dried pelt...maybe an old, badly-tanned Ace garment? With some of the bones still in?
The lights over Heike suddenly flare on brightly, illuminating him to the Card...))

Horatio wanted to burst into tears. What the hell was down here? What the hell was going on? Why did have have to have a damn ball in chain as a binding? He dropped the chain and ball with a squawk as soon as he felt something brush up against him. It was not right. It was dry. And he was pretty sure it was bony.
He turned around, honestly ready to throw a fit, when the light practically became a spotlight.
And there was a thing standing there with a foot stool.
A monster.
"Oh suits, please don't kill me."
Heike was prepared for the worst. He raised the foot stool, ready to attack whatever was there. But the sound seemed to move away. And then there was a squawking, his fur stood on end as he brandished the stool.
The lights suddenly flared up. It was like he was in a spot light. He heard the timid voice of the penguin, and honestly had no idea what to do. Should he threaten him. Should he just stand here and pretend that nothing was happening?
"Just let us out of here," he growled, doing his best to sound intimidating.

Everything seemed wrong. A thin voice whispered somewhere and Nadja's brows furrowed in uncertainty as she tried to hear better. I don't hate you? That... didn't seem right. Maybe this was all just a terrible misunderstanding? She inched forward slightly, glancing between Heike and the poorly lit basement. What if the scary card wasn't so scary? What if it was simply, well.. scared? Certainly it wasn't too much of a stretch to believe he was wrapped up in a nightmare as well?
And then the lights flared brighter over head and suddenly they were painfully illuminated. A strange little card stood near what looked like a flight of stairs. Was escape perhaps in sight? And then the strange little thing whimpered and Nadja's heart pulled desperately for the pitiful thing. He was obviously a Torque and looked quite terrified, begging for his life.
The small leveret reached up to touch Heike's leg gently, her brows furrowed in sympathy. "I don't think he wants to hurt us, Heike..." She whispered before edging to stand beside her brother now. "Hello Mr. Card... We don't want to hurt you if we don't have to, we're just trying to get out. Maybe you can help us?" Hopefully she was right.

((The Rabbits' voices rang out with Horatio's and something in the area seemed to rattle oddly. Another blur by Horatio, a few boxes rattled to the floor, and the lights flickered...though they remained on. One, about 50 feet from rabbit or Card suddenly flicked on and crackled, swinging back and forth slightly...
Under it, lopsided and twitching a little, was a Feline. A long, long dead one. Dusty silver and blue streaked fur long lost most color and limbs nothing but bone with raggedly fur barely covering it, the right leg dangling oddly as it dragged. "Well, you've found me..."))

Horatio was more than a little terrified. But at least the other monster seemed to be nice? Maybe. He went to open his beak with a timid reply when something rattled, and moved. "Suits!" he said as he flapped frantically, his voice reaching a squeaking pitch "Something else is in here!"
The boxes fell, and then the light was swinging back and forward. It was like another spot light shining down, and this one revealed another terror. A very dead looking thing. That must have been what touched him.
It had touched him. Horatio's jaw dropped as he stared at cat when it spoke. The words were simple and almost child like. What was he supposed to do?
Heike twitched slightly when his sister spoke. Really? At a time like this she seemed so sweet and innocent when they could be maimed by the card's magic. He could easily be acting. She could be right though. It was a stubby little thing and he seemed utterly terrified.
"Nadja, really?" he whispered in Avington. Then the Card said something that wasn't a response to his sister. He was talking about someone else being here? Well maybe it was just Zuli?
Of course the lights decided to prove him wrong. And some creature was illuminated instead. It looked horribly wrong. Dead. And it's leg was twisted. And it may have been a Card... once upon a time.
It was quite clearly between them and the card. And there was no way they could make it to the door. And... what did it just say?
"I didn't know we were playing hide and seek." he blurted out.

The smaller rabbit blushed slightly at her brother's exasperated question and offered him an uncertain smile in response. "It was... worth a shot, wasn't it?" She responded in Avington, concern flickering through her eyes at the Card's squeaking panic. There was certainly something wrong but she was of the increasing conviction that the wrongness was not the Card's fault.
And then the light came on and the source of the tiny voice finally revealed itself.
The sudden appearance tore a nervous and somewhat horrified squeak from Nadja as she latched tightly onto Heike's leg. Her little paws latched onto his fur and she trembled delicately against him though her eyes remained painfully transfixed on the pitiful, horrible once-card. What was going on here!?
Heike's blurt caused her to pause slightly, brows furrowing. Hide and seek? ...Hm. "Why were you hiding?" The words tumbled out despite herself. Obviously hiding wasn't helping anyone. They were all out in the open, illuminated by the haunted fun house that was this freakish card basement. So, if they were all found, they should talk. Or try to talk. Or something.

((The creature turns, head tilting at an alarming angle back toward the voices hailing it. "The taste of blood is an unintended side effect of..." It whispers, empty sockets seeming to bore into Nadja as it focuses on her, slowly beginning to clamber over boxes and cold, stone floor toward her and the larger Rabbit. It's walk is haphazard and twitching, joints cracking and skin rustling like old, dry paper, sliding on its frame as it moves, seemingly a bit more cautious now.
It passes Zulimar and stops. Freezing into place with no further movement as its head tilts downward at the small Leveret. "Liked by no one...passing shall not be mourned..." It mumbles, before whipping around in a frenzy of claws and old bones to attack her.
Horatio can now clearly see the monster and the Rabbits as one lurches toward the others. Monsters attacking monsters...what could be better?))

Zulimar was frozen in her tracks. The strange voice was much, much closer than she appreciated, especially considering she had no idea what had transpired in this room before she reached it. Was she.. supposed to respond? Should she hide? Now it was too late, it seemed; she had no where to run but back the way she'd came, and it would no doubt follow her at this point. An ear perked up when she heard the sound of the other rabbit's voices - along with one she didn't recognize - coming from the other side of the room. They were trying to talk to it, trying to soothe it.
She calmed down for one heart beat, then another, then her hackles rose and her eyes widened when suddenly the creature was there, in front of her.
'Liked by no one...passing shall not be mourned...' It said distinctly, its head tilted towards her in a manner that caused her skin to prickle, and her mind to race in abject terror.
"NO!" She shrieked, a mere moment before. She dove as soon as she saw claws headed for her and desperately tried to claw her way around the creature and into the freedom of the room behind her. Zuli scraped at it in return, but had no other real means of defending herself. "LEAVE ME ALONE!" She yelled at it, its last words replaying in her head over and over as her blood pounded, preventing her from forming any other coherent thoughts. The leveret tried to duck and run, desperately hoping there was room to run to.

The penguin watched with wide eyes as the creature started talking to the strange monster things at the other side of the room. They didn't seem to be together, which would have been encouraging if it hadn't been for the fact that they were monsters.
He quickly glanced to the stairs when the undead cat-thing started moving. It was going towards them. He could probably try to escape while no one was paying attention to him. When there was sudden screaming he activated his flight ability and went for the stairs. He silently swore the fact he couldn't move faster, but at the very least he could go up the stairs silently.
Heike's eyes widened at the strange creature. It was looking at his sister and speaking nonsense. He could feel his fur ruffle in displeasure as the thing started moving towards them. What did it want and what the hell was it? He growled and made sure to put himself between his sister and the monster. A foot stool wasn't much of a weapon, but he could make do.
And then it stopped. For a moment he tilted his head in confusion. Liked by no one? Who was liked by no one?
The scream was a clear indication that Zuli hadn't actually run away. Wonderful. And of course she was panicking over the monster attacking her.
He should probably do something about this. He took inhale of breath, and brought his free hand to his mouth, and whistled as loud as he possibly could. Hopefully the sound would be enough to get the cat's attention. And if he was lucky it might bring the leveret some clarity
Horatio's Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, he can fly for half an hour. Due to his hefty weighted binding, however, he is only ever able to get 6 feet off the ground, and his flight is about as fast as his walking pace. Winged Diamonds can use this ability for effortless, perfectly controlled flight.

Nadja froze, eyes locked with the empty sockets of the monster. Her gut wrenched at the wrongness of the dead speaking, moving, stumbling blindly toward them. In a panic she wracked her mind for something that could have an unintended side effect of the taste of blood. Nothing jumped to mind, too distracted by the horror of the thing snapping and rustling as it rushed and stumbled toward them.
She wanted to tell it to stop, that it was going to hurt itself (a horrifying thought to concern herself with at all!), but suddenly it did stop and its head tilted onto something just out of sight. Its words chilled Nadja this time. Though she couldn't see the little leveret, somehow she knew and the dread escaped in a cold sweat down her spine.
Zulimar's scream confirmed everything and the Avington jerked forward only to be blocked by Heike completely. His whistle cracked the insanity and she clutched to him as she called out, desperately. "That's not true! She's our friend, We'll miss her!"
As a Leveret there was always a small fear of getting lost in the crowd, of being no one, and the thought of being snuffed out and forgotten was painfully possible. Her recent mutations might have saved her from such anonymity but she'd never wish that feeling on anyone else. Zulimar might not have been the nicest Rabbit Nadja had ever met, but she'd been a part of their group enough that Nadja would certainly mourn her passing.
