Zuberi was glad that the walk was brief; in her condition, it was notoriously difficult to walk around for long without feeling quite winded. Nevertheless, she walked alongside the group with what grace she could muster, smiling politely and listening to the others when they spoke. She did not offer much without prompting, but if inquired she would in fact mention that her home town was a small one in Midori, and how she's lived there all her life.
She keenly hoped that they did not ask about the father of the child. If asked of her status, Zuberi would let it be known that she was in fact not in a relationship. It wasn't so strange to be pregnant and single, after all. It was tempting to dote on the charismatic diamond, but that feeling that made her concious that she should in fact be wary of it. Magic was a powerful thing, after all. And poor Malchiah.. the silly fool. He just seemed to wander in the footsteps of his brother, seeming so unsure. The two of them were more similar than they let on, though no doubt the corsetted brother's natural diamond ways allowed him to pull it off in a way Malchiah could only dream of.
And this... this actually interested her. Poor lad needed to find his own feet for sure. Though it was certainly an attraction based out of a curious nature... Zuberi always found her attention wandering from Ezekiel to the brother in his shadow. "So, Malchiah. Have you considered finding yaself a regional job?"

Beautiful! Ezekiel called her beautiful! Aima thought her head was in the clouds, or would have if she thought to. Instead she was focused on his compliment. How wonderful! How sweet! All thoughts of Malchiah and Zuberi were lost. The magic was completely messing with her head. Not even her usually logical thinking could save her because that frame of mind was long gone. She was reduced to something she never thought she was: a girl bubbling with joy because a guy complimented her. Usually she would never react like that, but the magic was reeking havoc with her brain.
Aima replied when she could on the short walk, especially when something was directed at her, and added to the conversation on her own as much as she could. She made a point of not staring at him too much, as she did not want to seem creepy, but it was so hard not to stare at his eyes.

Malch was actually fairly good at being charming. Recently, however, he had been falling quite short. Perhaps it was because of the nasty break up? Or maybe it was still because of those lingering feelings that weren't being returned? Either way he had dropped the ball and was still tripping over it.
When Zuberi engaged him in conversation he was more than a little surprised. He had screwed up royally, and he honestly hadn't expect her forgiveness despite her earlier words. He relaxed a bit, as they came to the restaurant. He pulled out a seat for the Queen when they arrived at the table, answering her question at the same time. "It's on my list of things to look into. Right now I was thinking of trying to get an apprenticeship in carpentry. That won't pay me, but at least it will give me a skill to work with other than my ability to file paperwork."
The other sparrow was busy keeping the Corvie entertained. This ability was sometimes a huge pain in the ass. Ezekiel would at least entertain the gushing Aima while Zuberi and Malch had a conversation. He wasn't about to stand in the way of his brother making up for his mistakes.
He pulled out a seat for Aima, with a smile. "So what are you doing in the city besides causing chaos?"

"Hm." Zuberi responded neutrally, giving a small nod as she took the seat and smoothed her dress over her swelling belly. "Seems a bit out in left field. Be it something you've been wanting to do?" Devoting so much time to something like that on a whim seemed a dangerous thing; someone who didn't have their heart into something so tedious may very well fall out of it. "Have you considered looking into doing construction in addition to carpentry? The two go hand in hand.. and I hear they like to scout out clubs for such jobs."
She might have been coming off as a bit overbearing.. but she was actually just trying to help. A part of her actually wanted to like this silly little bird, but it was hard to feel attracted to someone who was coming off as a bit of a loser.

Aima's mind was officially shot, and her train of mind went like this: He called me beautiful! He pulled out her seat for her! He was talking to her! We was asking her things! He wanted to know what she was doing in the city!
Erm. What was she doing in the city? She took her seat with a blank look crashing her expression for a moment while her head tried to shove Ezekiel out of it. She would no doubt feel a fool when she was no longer in his presence. She might even be livid that his magic affected her in such a way! That was later, though, right now she was hard enough answering his question.
Blood came to mind. She was... trying to get rid of it. Oh no, that sounded much to odd to tell him! What would he think? A very very tiny voice in the back of her head asked her who cares if he thought it was odd? She was a Corvie, would it really be such a surprise? Though due to its smallness it went ignored.
"I'm.. working on my experiments. All sorts of tests dealing with medicine and... forms of energy and nutrition." It wasn't a lie, exactly. She was looking for other methods to give her energy and nutrients to keep her alive. That way she could still function properly with no blood! No more bruising, no more wounds! Oh, wouldn't that be nice? She was getting excited all over again.
Then she looked at Ezekiel and it went away. No, he couldn't find out about the blood thing. It was time to switch the topic over to him. "What about you?"

"Well.. I've been thinking about it for a couple of years. I've always been interested in carpentry, but I never really bothered to focus on it. Instead I became a secretary for a while, which is probably more out of left field." He shrugged as he took his seat. Overbearing or not, she was actually making useful suggestions. Not like his family didn't, but really, who listened to their family? Half the time the things that came from his brother's mouth were nothing but static. "Construction? No, I actually hadn't thought about that. It would make a lot of sense to start there at least.... thank you."
Ez seemed completely and utterly focused on the Corvie. He slipped into his seat as she spoke, listening with a curious expression. He did always find what the people did from the region interesting. And she did look the part of "crazy Corvie." He might as well ask her a bit more about her specialty before he told her why she was in the city. "Does the tubing and the metal panel have to do with your research or was it someone else preforming research on you?"
He shifted to wave over the waitress. Might as well be productive and eat and converse. "I live here some of the time. I just had a checkup with my doctor today, nothing all that exciting."

"Good to know ya can take some... constructive criticism." Oho, what a lame joke! And the look on her face made it known that she hadn't meant for it to be a particularly sly move. Giggling a bit, she excused herself and made her drink order.
Zuberi missed the acuteness of animal ears sometimes; she would have liked to swivel one ear over to the conversation with the Corvie after hearing some words of her interests. Of course, that would have been quite rude; her curiosity could easily be ignored. After all, did anyone -really- ever want to know what sort of shenanigans that a Corvie could get into? Half the things they did were allegedly illegal in most other regions.
"Clubs sometimes are averse to doing da t'ings they do best. Nothing wrong to use the abilities ya suit gave you. Admittedly me own work doesn't call for it often." She grinned

Oblivious to everything Zuberi and Malch were talking about, Aima felt a moment of terror as he asked her about the metal plate in her head and the tubes. How was she supposed to explain the metal plate in a way that didn't seem completely crazy? Let alone the tubing! Actually, she'd quite forgotten she had it in her head and may have been embarassed about it if she weren't so proud of her research. Besides, he must have certainly seen both all the way here and he was still talking to her!
"Well actually the metal plate and tubes are part of my own research. The tubes allow the blood in me to travel more quickly through the body while the metal plate converts the rays of the sun into nutrients and helps power and keep me healthy!" she blabbed quickly. No need to mention that she needed the plate in the first place because she had 50% blood, which was why she needed the tubes to make the blood she had travel more quickly.
The waitress coming over was perfect timing. It gave her a moment to order tea and a reason to switch the conversation over to him. "Just a check-up, eh?" Her mouth had started working and was running away. Before she could consider that perhaps she shouldn't say what she was about to it poured out of her. "It seemed awfully hush hush back at the doctors office."

Malch laughed, cheesy joke or not it was fitting. The sparrow couldn't help but feel better about everything now. Thank the suits that the woman was okay even after that nasty spill. What would he have done otherwise? He never would have been able to live with himself if she had gotten seriously injured.
"I guess some people just find the stereotypes degrading, even though some of them are true." He shrugged, "And I'm sure you could moonlight as a bouncer or a construction worker if you really wanted to. I doubt anyone would argue."
Ezekiel shifted as he listened to Aima's hasty explanation. Goodness, she didn't seem to want to talk about her research. It sounded rather fascinating... if not a little bit impractical. What would happen if it rained for a week straight?
He didn't have a chance to answer the question though. He blinked at her for a few surprised moments. She had noticed that, had she? "Ah well that's because... I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up."
The waitress finally appeared to present them with menus and take their drink orders.
