((Satra, if you feel like having a young Waffles trotting along with her, please feel free. <3 Otherwise, no worries.)) Several years had passed since Thyme's last visit to the Court of her suit. She's acquired a biped form, a greater affinity with her unusual weapon, and a terrifyingly adorable pet in that time, as well as significantly more practice with her magic. She hadn't managed to unlock anything new in that time, but what she did have had been explored in more depth. Ever since chatting with the odd Tulgey owl in this very courtyard and subsequently taking a tour of the palace for several days, she'd gained a liking for the place. Politics seemed... interesting. They looked to her like a new challenge. Magic was usually her focus, and would continue to be so for as long as she lived, but she'd been craving something different. A new setting, along with new responsibilities and privileges, sounded more and more appealing. She especially wanted access to some of the restricted areas of the palace library. For that alone, she would gladly serve her suit for as long as the position 'worked' for her. The brilliantly blue feelers on her tail fanned out as she took in the atmosphere, the various smells that even her sensitive canine nose couldn't pick up reguarly, before continuing on into the palace. The existence of her weapon, sitting comfortably in the back of her mind with an almost bored touch to the presence, made the corners of her muzzle turn upward as she walked. He was always there now, an amusing and occasionally frustrating presence, but that was fine. She still didn't know whether or not Rose had managed to connect to her weapon so closely, but hopefully she would see her sister again and could ask. She ignored any looks that might have been directed her way, the bizarre coloring often catching the attention of bystanders who tried to guess what her mix of regions could be. The ambiguity amused her now, rather than sending her into upset fits. Breezing past them, she followed the directions that one of the palace guards had given her and approached a door that she hoped was the entrance to the Queen's office. Straightening and brushing down the fur on her stomach, making sure her mane was in place, she raised her hand to knock three times.

Waffle toddled happily along, every once in while glancing up at his Master and mewling. The Kitten had no idea where he was except for that it was a new place and Master seemed pleased she was here. He looked up at her again with his shiny purple eyes and mewling when she stopped. He tilted his head, a touch confused as to why she suddenly seemed nervous. Not having quite learned his lesson from past experience, he bumped into her leg to rub against it to calm her... only to have a puff of her moth dust sprinkle over him. "Mmmehh?" he called pathetically out before stumbling. He didn't quite have the balance to right himself with only three legs, and so he toppled over, dizzy and very drowsy. [fyi, don't wait up for me if I'm a little slow. I don't think I'll be able to post consistently with Waffles. ]

He had just been about to take his coffee break when he heard the three confident knocks on his door. From the sound alone the mouse could easily figure out that it was not the current attendant who ran around supposedly 'helping' the mouse out. The poor boy, more often than not, seemed to cause a mess. It was after an event where the poor fellow had spilled his cup of coffee that he had decided it would be better for the mouse's health if he was relocated to some other work in the Palace. Titling his head to the side, he called out in a clear voice. "Come in." He was going to take a wild guess and assume that it was not anyone coming to kill him. Besides having to get past the guards, the mouse was pretty confident that the intruder would have just barged in. Then again, perhaps it was a well-mannered killer, the ones who used please and thank-you and pardon-me-miss. Shaking his head at his thoughts, he clearly needed to get out and about, spending so much time alone with his own thoughts were not good for his health. Smiling softly to himself he pondered on what his expected-kids were going to be like. Their birth should be happening any day now, after all.

Silly little kitten. Thyme grinned at his lack of coordination, combined with the poof of dust intoxicating his senses for a few minutes, and leaned down to pick him up. He was getting heavy, but was still young enough that she could carry him. The dust cloud was even more pronounced, but it would start wearing off about five minutes after she eventually put him down. She just didn't want him crashing into the door frame or anything on their way in. "You be a good boy, now," she whispered in an affectionate voice, nosing at his cheek. She loved having a pet. If her brother could see her, he would boggle at the affection, she was sure.
With her free hand, she turned the knob and opened the door about halfway, taking a step inside and making a slightly awkward but still very recognizable bow. "Your Majesty, thank you for allowing me in. My name is Thyme e'Devya. I sent you a letter several weeks back regarding my arrival, but failed to mention a specific date for our meeting due to an uncertain circumstance at home. Would this be a good time for you, or should I return later on?" No, Aunt Josephine had not been especially pleased with her choice of several years' service, but in the end she'd agreed huffily that her niece could do as she pleased with her life.

He was a little distracted for a moment when the person who entered was not exactly who he had been expecting - though at the same time he had not truly had one single person in mind. Giving a small mental shrug, his mind seemed to be else where today, he gave her an honest smile as he returned the greeting.
"No, no, my dear, your timing could not be better." He furrowed his brow slightly in thought. The female who stood before him almost reminded him of someone, almost . . . but no, that was nonsense. Shaking off the puzzling thoughts he plowed on.
"Would you rather tea or coffee?" He asked as he stood up from his chair, stretching his arms out in front of him to help release the tension that had built up in his back. "I was just about to take a coffee break and I could use some company."

Oh good, her timing hadn't been awful! They way he said 'coffee break' gave her a hint as to which beverage he preferred. Aunt Josephine served both back at home, so it didn't really matter to her either way. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I would appreciate some coffee, I think, after so long in a carriage. It wouldn't do to fall asleep."
Thyme smiled in return, shifting her hold on the Ace to be more comfortable and hefting the young thing onto one shoulder. "This is Waffles, by the way, my Ace," she said by way of introduction. "He's still young enough that I don't like to leave him alone for very long, and if all goes well, I wouldn't want to have to return to the Highlands just for him." Luggage could be sent, but she didn't trust her long little kitten on the road without her. Hopefully the Queen didn't have a problem with pet Aces like the Queen of Diamonds was rumored to have. That would have been a huge deterrent right there.

Coming to stand in front of his desk he faced the female and her pet, not deterred by any height differences that might occur between the two of them. "It is a pleasure to meet you Waffles." He gave the obviously Avington-mix a smile as one would to a small child.
The Queen winced inside at her mention of a long carriage ride. Those were never fun. "How about we take it in the garden, then? The atmosphere will be better out there than it can ever be in this stuffy office." With that said he lead the way out of the office expecting her to follow.
"Coffee for two to be delivered in the garden." He paused to order as he passed the current worker behind the secretary desk. Heading down the hallway he motioned for her to walk along side him. "You will have to forgive me, my dear, if I have forgotten. Wot is it that I can do for you today?"

The Queen greeted her pet! How adorable was that? She kept her small bubble of glee on the inside, shoving it down as way too young and girlish to ever see the light of day, and just smiled. It was a good thing he didn't seem capable of much, if any, speech. A slow learner, her little kitten, but all the cuter for it. Except when he peed places he shouldn't. Thankfully, they seemed almost out of that stage.
"Of course, Your Majesty. The garden sounds lovely. I've heard through the grapevine that your gardeners have been working wonders." Of course, her Aunt rarely let a chance to tout the superiority of the Heart gardens go by. They rarely discussed roses for precisely that reason. It got old to hear about.
She followed him out and down the hall, taking his gesture and moving up to walk beside him. If he didn't mind the height difference between a bipedal canine and a smallish human man, she certainly wasn't going to make a fuss about it. "I'm sure you have plenty more to distract you than a letter sent a few weeks ago," she agreed wryly, one hand stroking the soft fur of her Waffles. "I'm actually here to apply for a position at Court, should you have a use for my services."

"They are still a work in progress but still something to behold." In what had started out as comical joke between two quickly growing drunk friends had over the years of his being Queen turned into one of his prides and joys. It was funny how things happened.
The walk down the hall did not last very long and after a few turns found the door that would lead them to the garden. Thankful for the hat that would keep the sun out of his eyes, he looked down to eye her. "A position you say? You want to be a gardener? or a Cook? Perhaps it is a position of secretary? I am currently looking, you know."
He gave her something that was a mixture of a grin and a smile to show her that he was only teasing. There was something about this newest stranger that put the Queen at ease and he could only help but be in a good mood.

Thyme squinted briefly as they walked out into the garden, the afternoon sun hitting her eyes before they had time to adjust. Everything looked as though it had been given a light golden wash with the slant of the sun. How very pretty. Between her canine nose and her even more sensitive feelers, the smell of the flowers flooded her senses. "Oh, yes. I was here once a few years ago and, even in that short time, you can see the difference."
At least out here, she would be able to put Waffles down and let the effects of her fur's powder wear off. The poor thing was looking around in a daze and she didn't like to leave his senses befuddled for too long. Who knew how it might affect him over a prolonged period?
His teasing questions earned him a blank stare for a moment as her mind processed, and then she had to stifle an aborted snort and laugh that got caught somewhere in her upper throat. "I wouldn't want to poison you with my cooking, Your Majesty," she offered in a droll voice, still grinning. "You may not have noticed the little puffs of dust coming off of me, but I assure you, the stuff gets on everything I touch. Enough of it and you'd probably fall asleep."
