The ticking continued, though the sound did not become louder or softer, simply the same, very rhythmic. If Xiven wishes to use her seven foot trick, she may and it would work...careful how you approach it though. Anyone ever made a barricade?

Bailee stared at the chipmunk for a long moment. "I admire your faith in humanity but we were chained up, that young lady over there was locked in a closet, and you think it's something to help us? If anything it's a bomb rigged to blow to prevent us from escaping. Someone could have been trying to use us for test subjects or slaves--and I know if I did unsavory things I would want my subjects dead before they had a chance to escape and tell someone." She gave a small canine shrug, "But I'm just Seven of Clubs, what would I know?"
The canine walked towards one of the beds and used her strength ability to move it. She did her best to position it between the trap door and the closet. The Queen had said something about 7 feet, so she positioned it to a particular distance that looked right. Slightly closer since she'd probably have to angle whatever she had. "Any help for making a barricade would be appreciated." When that was taken care of the canine went back over to the chest. seeing if she could push it out of the way. She didn't exactly want it flying somewhere and killing someone or something. If there was an explosion it could be huge, or tiny.
Xiven was a little surprised at how frank the Corvie was. And she appeared to actually be intelligent and not just a mad scientist. "I think the Corvie might know best in this situation, and I can't exactly argue with the logic," Xiven said. "It would probably be safe for everyone to hide in the closet while the potential trap is triggered."
She didn't really want to do this. But she was the highest ranking member of the group, and her daughter needed to be kept safe. She pulled out the wire, extending it to it's longest height.
"If we do this at all I'll trigger it," Emeraude said as she held out her hand for the wire. The Queen looked briefly reluctant before tentatively handing the wire to the woman. She decided to address the rest of the room. "So before we actually do this does anyone have... any other ideas or abilities that could help see... something?"
Writhing Wire: This tiny piece of wire can shrink down to an inch long, or grow to be up to seven feet in length. When the SD that controls it activates it, by shouting Coil, it will wrap around an opponent and begin to deliver painful electric shocks that will cause their body to spasm unpleasantly. It will also wrap around either arms or wings... pinning these to the other SD's sides.

Erring on the side of caution would probably be the best idea, though Bailee's sarcasm was not the most appreciated. He opted not to respond to her comments and instead went to one of the beds to attempt to flip them over. Perhaps they could hide behind those while they tried to open the risky trap door.

(I will assume that Vir has no issue with Mommy opening the door.)
An explosion tore through the room like a hurricane, flinging everyone backwards against the crudely-made barricade and causing the wind to be knocked out of everyone present. Bar none. A blue and purple fire raged against the barricade for a few seconds, reducing the woodwork to dust. Xiven, Em, and Davy need to roll d20's for me. Once the woodwork of the dresser was gone, however, the flames died. Retreating into a swirling cloud of ash that revealed the flames to have taken out the far wall and leaving a giant, gaping, dark hole; extending out into...who knows what. Before them, lies the now clear trap-door. Where should you go?

(Xiven rolled a 17, Emeraude rolled a 17, Hopefully this is a decent post.)
Well. It was a bomb. Bailee felt a little justified after having the wind knocked out of her. It wasn't exactly what she had been expecting, whoever had put them up here meant business, and it was probably mostly magic based considering how violent it was. Or something, did it really matter? Now what were they supposed to do? "So uh..." she said as she pulled herself to her feet. Her chest still felt tight. "Now that the door's clear... do we want to investigate?" she asked as she tried to gather her bearings. There seemed to be a giant hole in the room... none of this looked really promising. Her tail drooped as she shook her fur straight. What had she done to deserve this?
Xiven struggled to regain her breath and bearings. Things had been on fire, she had barely any time to react to anything. Suits. What were they dealing with? Who were they dealing with? Was everyone all right? Emeraude had certainly been just as surprised as she was, as the woman was struggling to gain her breath as well. This was a nightmare, right?
Emeraude was equally confused and disgruntled as she blinked in confusion at the scene in front of them. She really should have unsummoned herself before that explosion or something. Not like there was that much of a chance to--shit was Xiven alright?
(I had to edit the retarded spelling errors.)

The explosion caught Davy off guard. Hell, it probably caught all of them off guard, as every single person flew back from the force of it. Vaguely he was aware that the fire was actually… rather pretty. After that it was an instinctual need to protect himself from what no doubt was a very unnatural fire. Blue fire was a fun trick one could perform with a handful of salt, but purple? Whether it was magic, or some strange Corvie trick with chemicals, he wouldn't know. At that point and time, he really didn't care too much, either.
Davy would be man enough to admit that the precaution was a good idea, but he might not admit it -today-. Right at that moment, he was rather fearing for his life. He attempted to tuck into himself, tucking his wings in and shielding his face with his paws in an effort to protect his face.

Virtute took a deep breath, glancing up at her mother and nodding slowly. It had been scary enough to think that someone had managed to capture her... But the idea that whoever had abducted her had also had the strength to get her mother was truly a nightmare. The kitten decided that it was in her best interest to keep her distance for the time being and try to keep out of the way of the people who seemed to know what they were doing.
Mostly her mother, and her mother's summon. Even if the Avington woman didn't seem to like her much, she was an authority figure in the kitten's life.
So when directed, she high-tailed it to the closet, and not a second too soon. The impact hit her hard enough to force what little air she had back out of her along with a muffled squeak, lost in the sound of the explosion. She collapsed, struggling to catch her breath and falling into another fit of coughing. By the time she had recovered, so had the rest of their little crew, and she quickly found her mother along with the newly-made escape. "We need to leave," she whispered, nodding to try and convince herself that this was the best possible plan.

The blown open hole in the wall sagged a bit, dropping bits of plaster down onto the floor. At least Davy and Vir seem fine, though Xiven's arm is a bit singed and Em looks like she's been through a hurricane...at least she suffered no more than a few long scratches down her arms. That chest Bailee was working on is...well..."open" now, half blown to kingdom come, its innards reveal a charred mess of black sludge, a broken necklace, and a singed bag of...seeds? Huh, odd.
The trap door has again fallen to simply smoking a bit, and nothing has moved in either the direction of the new hole in the wall, or the door, though the beds were blown through that new hole in the wall...

Bailee shook herself again as she looked around the room after her initial comment. She drooped a bit when she noticed that the chest was now open and the contents seemed to be charred. She light poke the sludge with a paw, lamely before scooping up the broken necklace and bag of seeds for closer inspection. Why exactly were these items in a magically locked chest? It was worth investigating for later, she'd pocket the things for now and have them looked, or they could come in handy later. Who knew when she had to rig something with broken bits of what have you.
Nothing was moving, the roomed seemed to be clear of danger. The canine padded over to the trap door, what was left of it anyway, and went to see what was beyond it. They had gone through the trouble of disabling it, why not see what was on the other side? Carefully she put a paw forward to test if everything was clear, and then she'd poke her head through the trap door to see if anything was down there.
Xiven winced when she came to her bearings, staring at her mildly singed arm. It was tender, but at least it wasn't anything serious. And she wouldn't need her pain ability for something this mild. Pulling herself together she collected her weapon and put the wire back in her pocket. Vir seemed to be as fine as she possibly could be, and that Club dog was already padding around. Emeraude looked like hell, but was obviously fine despite being disgruntled, and Davy seemed to be fine. She was apparently the only one to get burned at all.
Great start to the day. "Is anyone opposed to going out of the trap door now that the bomb has been disabled?"
Emeraude pulled herself together, grumpily trying to straighten herself out. She checked Xiven's arm briefly, but there wasn't much they could do about it. The woman asked the rest of the room the question, as Bailee was already investigating, and she was sure that Vir would agree with her mother no matter what.
She decided to at least investigate the hole in the wall. Did it go anywhere, were their room connected to this one? (15 for search if required.)

Davy carefully sat up, eyes wide and looking around, then at his body. He… was alright! "Wooboy! Man, that was intense. We could have died." He barked out an awkward laugh, the adrenaline running through his veins giving him a hell of a rush. Danger sure as shit was exciting! Though, the folk with him probably didn't agree. Well, it's not like Davy cared much about what -they- thought. Stuffy court-ladies and passive aggressive buff ladies with a smart mouth. And… an Avington lady in Midori motif. Huh. It was funny, really.. kind of like the equivalent of seeing New Yorkers in Pineapple shirts in the real world, no doubt. Heh. Tourists.
"Hell, not me. If they thought it was important enough to booby-trap it, perhaps there be something down there worth having! Hey, lets divvy up the loot fairways if we find it, eh? Maybe we can send a scout down a little ways an' see."" He cast an enthusiastic grin the ways of the ladies in the room.
