The deer would kneel to allow the woman to get off of her back when everything was said and done.
Viola wasn't particularly sure how to proceed with the new information. There were potential signs of life in there, but when she called out there was no response, she doubted knocking would work either. If there was a living person in there they could be unconscious, or it could even be a dead body. Considering the smell suits only knew what a dead body would smell like. She'd stop thinking about that.
"Nico... feel free to put the torch in my antlers so you can talk," she said as she bowed her head, allowing him to place the torch in her antlers if he saw fit. This way they could have a group discussion over what to do with the door.
Which she honestly wanted into. "We could try to pick the lock if someone has something small enough to fit in there... if not do you have any suggestions? I don't like the idea of kicking the door, suits only knows if it's reinforced... but if someone's in there we should at least try to see if their all right."

Kama, dismissing her dark vision as soon as possible to avoid a worse headache than she already had, dismounted and thanked Viola for her assistance. It was a bit hard to think around the pain in her head, but she did take a good look at that lock. Her paws were the more nimble of the three of them, and, now that Viola mentioned it, she did happen to be wearing a couple pins in her mane (holding it lightly in place experimentally, since the wind tended to muss it up a bit if she just let it go, and while she liked hiding her eyes, getting hair in her eyes was something else entirely), which might just work as lock picks.
"I have these," she said in response to her new friend's query, pulling the pins from her mane. "Think they'd work?" Kama eyed the lock again, wondering if she could wiggle anything loose inside, or if she'd just break her pins. She desperately wanted to get a better look at what was in that room. Explore a bit. Perhaps, if there really was a person in there, they might know the way out?

Nico set the torch carefully in Vio's antlers, making sure it sat properly without risking falling over and lighting the woman on fire, before pulling back and smiling. "Thanks."
And Kama had bobby pins! They were certainly in luck there. "It's worth giving a shot. At very least we'll be able to figure out what type of lock we're dealing with, right?" He hopped up on his hind legs, trying to stretch enough to see into strange barred door.
"By the way, Kama? Could you potentially see any other way into the room?" He gently dropped back to all fours and glanced back toward the tunnels. Maybe one of them curled around to the other side of the dungeon? Unlikely, but it was a possibility. "If it comes down to it, we could try setting fire to the door. Best case scenario, the fire would heat the lock enough that we could dose it and create a rapid cool down point which may be enough to snap the metal... Worst case scenario, the door would at least be weakened enough to break it down... So long as it isn't reinforced by anything major." He paused for a second, frowning deeply. "Then again, dust or ...sewer filth... might be highly flammable and we could run a hazardous risk of lighting far more than the door on fire..."
The little buck tilted his head to the side, frowning at the door. "That's probably unlikely, though. Right?"

Bobby pins and ideas! Wonderful! Viola looked far more chipper than she had a moment before as she listened to the possibilities. There was a chance the bobby pins would just break, but the ferret could at least try to pick the lock. If that didn't work they could resort to heating it up and dousing it with cold water. If worse came to worse they could lite the entire door and douse it, then the would would probably be easy enough to break.
Wait what? Other things could catch on fire?
"I think we should try to pick the lock first. If that doesn't work we can try heating the thing up and then dousing it with water... you have a Spade ability right?" she looked to Kama for hopeful confirmation. If she did then they would be set. Viola hadn't the foggiest idea about Spade abilities, she just knew some of them could summon water and adorable familiars.

Roll for picking the lock and keep on going with your banter. Nico suddenly hears what might have been a wheezing gasp from inside. It was quiet and quick though...maybe it was nothing?

For a moment following Nico's somewhat rambling parade of ideas, Kama just stared at him in a sort of fascinated wonder. Of all the interesting things to go on in his head, this was, by far, the most enlightening. Was he just making all that up off the top of his head, or did he have some sort of... strange lessons or experience from growing up? Then she shook herself and tried to answer his question. "Um, I don't think so. I could take another look, but you would have to take the torch waaayyyy over there," she gestured away from the door. There was no way she'd subject her eyes to more light than necessary, when peering into the darkness behind the door.
"But I can give the lock a try. I'd rather not have to light anything on fire... but I can make water to put it out. If it doesn't get too big," she admitted. Then, with no other better ideas, she approached the door once more, pins in paw, and attempted to wiggle something loose enough inside the thick lock to open the door.
((OOC: ..And rolled a 16.))

Nico gave Kama a sympathetic smile in regards to her light sensitivity. He knew how his mother was about that sort of thing, after all, and even a little light while her ability was activated could be troublesome. Had he managed to remove it enough when she was looking in before?
"Hmmm... Well, Viola's right. We should focus on the lock. There's no telling where other tunnels will lead and it's always best to be direct." Or well, that's what Uncle Thal said. But he'd just smash down the door. Really made him wish they were here right now, but at least he knew they were with Mum and that Mum would be safe with them.
He frowned a little and tried hard to put that distressing concern out of his mind by once again hopping up and attempting to see what little he could see... Only to hear something instead.
Was that... breathing? Or was it just in his head?
He hunkered down, ever the vast imaginative one, and whispered. "I think I heard something. There might actually be someone in there..." What if Kama really had seen someone in there?

Well at least they had a back up plan? Viola carefully balanced the torch in her antlers, making sure to give the ferret proper light for her lock picking task. Though was light bad for headaches? It probably was.
Suddenly Nico whispered sharply about hearing someone inside. Or potentially hearing someone inside. The deer seemed to perk slightly, though if they weren't talking they were probably hurt.... or it really could be some sort of horrible monster.
"Well, Kama did say there was a work bench in there and she saw something that could be a person," Viola said in a low voice. Why would someone be locked up down here? Was it some mad man's experiment on some poor soul... what if it was some mad scientist was locked down here to protect the public? No, she wasn't going to let her imagination run away again. There was a perfectly logical explanation to this.
No... there really wasn't.
"We'll be on our guard."

Still fiddling with the lock, all her concentration on it instead of her surroundings, Kama was saved from her overactive imagination this time. "I did think I saw someone in there.. or.. well.. something that could have been someone. And it didn't look like they were dangerous. The room wasn't torn apart or anything, anyway," she mumbled as she worked, too preoccupied with figuring this thing out to really listen to what she was saying. "If it was a person, they looked awfully thin. They're probably too weak to attack, even if they wanted to," she finished.
"Actually, I'm a little more worried about that thing hanging from the ceiling," she said then, mostly to herself. "I don't know why anyone would be locked down here, but that thing was just creepy." She quite honestly could not imagine what it could be, or why it would be hanging from the ceiling, but she didn't like the thought of it at all.

Inside of the room, something moved again...just a little... It wasn't the recumbent figure in the corner. Something dangling from the ceiling swiveled a little, turned in the direction of the Selkie and appeared to be making eye contact with her...though she could see no eyes...only a mass of pulsing...flesh?!?! Hanging from the ceiling and slowly rotating.
At the moment...the lock popped open. Whatever was inside lunged forward with enough strength to send both Viola and Kama flying about ten feet backwards. (All please roll a d20 as you react). The thing then turned on Nico, and sped in his direction.
(Viola is maybe, just a little bit on fire, Kari. The torch is still lit, though. Poor roll on my part, lucky for you. It's damp enough that she should be able to put herself out, though.)
