Viola was hopeful for a moment when the plant monster seemed to hesitate, a little too hopeful. She was not prepared for it to pick her up, the deer squeaking in surprise as she was suddenly not on the ground.
She didn't have time to flail in protest, as the creature caught on fire and she was dropped onto her back. Unprepared she hit the ground with all of her dead weight, a scream would have escaped her if the air hadn't been knocked out of her (1). The deer choke and sputtered for a few long moments as she struggled through the pain to activate her pain ignore ability (15). At the very least it would help with some of the pain, most certainly not all of it.
When her bearings came back she realized things were on fire, and Nico was telling her something important. Kama was in the room. That's where she had went. The torch was out, and she didn't particularly feel inclined to slight it ablaze by bringing it near the monster that was on fire. Right move fast. "I'm coming! I'll get Kama first!"
The deer rolled onto her stomach and prepared herself to sprint. Taking a deep breath she snatched up the torch (11) and bolted straight for the room as fast as she possibly could (18).
As soon as she made it into the room she would chuck the unlit torch at the monster that was holding Kama captive (14), hopefully she would at least hit it so it would grab the torch and drop Kama or something. Of course running in blindly was a dumb idea, but she didn't have much of a choice.
Basic Magical Ability: She can ignore moderate amounts of pain for up to an hour.

Nico's continued attack on the monster seemed to do very little, save for reopening and continuing the gashing into the plant matter. If the thing did feel pain, it did not acknowledge it. Kama was faring little better; though her contortions did finally get the thing to half drop-half lower her back onto the floor, though the death grip on her ankle remained. The tendrils very suddenly recoiled at an incredible speed back toward Kama as it finally seemed to register that it was on fire.
Viola's timely intervention was enough, when she smacked the tendril with the deadened torch, it seemed to instinctively wrap around the old thing at once, releasing Kama's leg. The flames crept up the vines and thick root structures, crackling as it did so, and causing the thing to start pulling back up into the ceiling...taking Nico with it.

Kama was free. That was good. That was the only thing good about the entire situation. Though it did tell her something about what the plant reacted to. Nico was still helpless and the thing was on fire and retreating back into the ceiling. They weren't going to lose the young boy that they had just met.
"Kama! We need to help Nico!" she exclaimed in her panic.
Viola scrambled to grab something that she could throw again (13), and when she found a heavy piece of debris she threw it at the creature with all of her might, aiming for around Nico's legs (17). Hopefully it would drop him too. It seemed like a normal sort of reaction for this plant monster.
And hopefully she would be able to catch him or he could fly. Suits, she couldn't get up there if the thing got away. They couldn't let it get away,

Oh Suits. He was moving. Thankfully Viola seemed to be calling to Kama which might mean Kama was okay. That was good. He thought he heard his name, but over the pounding of his heart and the flailing of his little limbs, Nico couldn't quite tell what was being said.
All of his struggling was doing absolutely nothing.
He wriggled and kicked, but he wasn't exactly built for fighting and the plant's single-minded constriction was most definitely winning. Way to make him feel utterly useless.
At some point during his squirming, he turned just enough to see Viola and Kama below, Kama free and... oh Suits was Viola chucking something at him? He let out a startled squeak and gave a sudden jerk away from the object, flapping his wings with all his might as he did. (10 for general wriggling and escaping-ness)
If he fell now, so high up and with things being chucked at him, he could only hope that he'd manage to get enough force in his flaps to at least let himself down in some semblance of grace. Actually, to hell with grace. He'd be happy to just avoid landing on his face... If he survived at all. (18 for hopefully not breaking anything on the way down)

Free at last, Kama scrambled out of the way, shooting Viola a grateful look that was marred only by the look of horror that followed it. Oh, Nico! And fire! Well, if all else failed, she could probably snag him as he passed and stay with him, but... she'd rather not let it come to that.
Kama raced towards him, waiting only long enough for Viola to throw whatever that was at the plant. Hopefully it'd release Nico in favor of this new 'prey,' but if it didn't, she was prepared to leap (14) and attack it with fang and claw (15), and hopefully spring away before it had a chance to catch her instead/also. (19)
Or at least get out of the way of his fall (2) and the retreating vine (13) if it did decide to let him go.
((OOC: Apparently my dice think it'd be funny if Nico fell on her. *facepalm* XD))

The plant recoiled, but did not directly drop Nico, instead keeping one tendril wrapped around his hindpaws and dropping the rest of him as it pulled back further toward the ceiling. Apparently, it either doesn't feel, or doesn't care about pain? Why does it react to the fire, then? The flames shuddered along the length of the monster, working their way toward Nico, smoke beginning to fill the small room.

Viola could feel the rage bubbling up as the plant creature refused to let the boy go. The fire was spreading there was smoke in the room, nothing seemed to be helping. It obviously wasn't in pain and it wasn't reacting to throwing things as well as she hoped. Was it reacting to the light of the fire? It couldn't react to the sound since it didn't react to their voices. She was a Heart, a battle should have been easy for her. She needed to think straight and act fast.
"Kama! If the fire gets too close to Nico put it out near him! Just near him! I think the thing is reacting to the light or heat and I think the fire should weaken the vines!" Viola said in the most demanding voice she could muster as she was turning to find something flammable. She only paused briefly when she noticed that there was figure in the room other than the plant monsters, she'd think about that later.
Look. A table. Wood. She ran towards it, throwing her strength into a moving kick at the leg (19). She snatched the piece of wood (10) though giving herself a splinter or two in the process and made a pass at one of the flaming vines (13) regardless of how well it was on fire she threw (20) the wood above the boy's hind legs.
It should be enough heat for a reaction, and if it wasn't then hopefully it would weaken the vines. She was not going to let this thing win.

Nico yelped. He'd been given a bit more wiggle room with that last jerk, but it's death grip on his ankle meant that the already sprained joint got a sudden jerk. He curled up slightly, trying hard to block out the sudden stinging that sent white heat though his body.
And now the room was filling with smoke, causing the little buck to cough heavily as his eyes began to water.
There was no way he could keep this up.
Once more he threw all of his energy into squirming out of the plant's grip (20) and began to beat his little wings with all the strength he could muster. If nothing else maybe he would be able to push the smoke back enough to breathe properly and also put some life into the fire below him.
This had to work. If it didn't... He didn't want to think of being out of options. What if Viola and Kama got hurt trying to get him out of room that was steadily burning up?

With a sudden rush, the boy found himself being dropped on top of Kama! The flaming bit of table thrown seemed to have finally done the trick, aided by the boy's squirming. Both spun and rolled with the force, smacking into a roughly stitched leather bag that spewed coins left and right (5 unassigned p each of you), but otherwise remained stitched shut. The plant writhed and retreated, then shot three thick vines down at its main tormentor. Viola.

He was free! Viola looked remarkably cheerful for a brief moment as the boy went tumbling down. It was followed by terror until the boy was caught--sort of--by Kama. Suits, the woman was going to move over to help the pair untangle themselves. However the monster was still in the room, though it was retreating.
She wanted to let her guard down, but as soon as she looked at the retreating form three vines were rocketing towards her. Of course. Why wouldn't it be? She had been the one to set it on fire, and she was the one flailing about trying to save everyone.
She went to dodge the attack with as much speed as she could muster (17), a jump (10) and then a roll out (15) of the way. Hopefully it was quick enough to avoid being hit. If not she should probably have something to soften the blow? Crap. She had her weapon, but she didn't exactly want to tumble with a mace in her mouth. She just prepared herself for an hard hits, hoping that she could handle it if she couldn't properly dodge the attacks (17).
(... the die I'm using is VERY fond of the number 17.)
