Viola felt all sorts of sorry for the poor man who they were carrying. His voice was almost inaudible, and sent a chill up the deer's spine. He sounded a lot younger than he looked--what the hell had happened to him in that room? Maybe this was a Mad Corvie experiment gone horribly wrong.
Oh suits, what should they do? The man needed a doctor, there were plants in the ceiling, and they were stuck in the sewers. Where was a proper Corvie Doctor when you needed one?
Viola eyed the poor gentlemen. She was listening to what Nico was saying. That was a good question. But... what did this poor frail man have in his hand, and what about all those things on his person? He looked like he was prepared for something. Had he known about the plants or was he related to them.
"I-I'm sorry to ask this much of you sir, but why are you down here? You look prepared for something." she ever so lightly tapped his clenched hand with a hoof. "If we're going to get you out of here... is there anything we should be worried about besides the monster plants?"

The man twitched and frowned, obviously in pain and exhausted.
"Don't know where we are..." He mumbled, eyes closing as he tried to recollect himself. "Supposed to be working on them...might let me out if I do..." His fingers opened at the hoof-tap, revealing a small bag of what looked like seeds. He glanced at it, and twitched his fingers. "S'a key in there...didn't open this door though. Prepared? No...dealer, 'n I'm sorry." He pulled at one of the pouches, but was unable to free it. "Checkmate, so...careful. S'...what I get, I guess. Bitch of a way ter...don't talk to the woman." He struggled to sit up, failed, and fell back. "She'll be real nice, but she e'nt. I couldn't do it, I couldn't get them to listen, see. Plants, dunno what she wanted me t-"
His breath cut short, he slumped again, panting.

Viola cringed a bit as she watched the man try to move. She felt so terrible for him, though a small part of her was disappointed that he had no idea where they were. She frowned a bit when he opened his fingers.
Were those... seeds? Why did he have seeds?
The woman watched as he started to pull on a pouch after mentioning something about a dealer and being sorry. Her eyes widened at the word Checkmate. If they could get any wider they would have popped straight out of her head while he continued to talk. For speaking so little and so quietly he was telling them quite a bit.
Horrible things were going on. Drug deals and monster plants, and suits knew what else. She made a little sound of distress as she watched the man. Oh they should try to get him out of here. Even if he was some sort of ruffian he didn't deserve to die.
"Would you take the seeds, they might be important?" She whispered to Nico before moving to prop the man up.
Laying down didn't seem like a good thing for him to do at the moment. "What's your name?" She asked as she gently moved him. Suits he looked like he was going to break in half. Maybe they should walk and talk? That didn't seem safe. The deer was carefully avoiding the checkmate pouch, and really all of the pouches she could. Ugh. A drug dealer. "And who's this woman with the plants?"

Nico's ears had flattened back against his skull as he listened to the exchange between Viola and the gaunt man. This was bad, very bad.
Checkmate and a Bad Woman... and The Plants? How could someone make them listen?
He absently opened the pouch when Viola offered them to him, allowing her to drop them into the bag. He was too lost in thought to properly respond. How long had that poor man been in there? What sort of nutrients did he have while he was in there? The least they could do was get him water.
Pulling his eyes away from the man as he shuddered and slumped, he turned to Kama. "Kama, do you think you can get him some water? I'm sure he could use some." Meanwhile... He glanced back at the door to the wretched room. He swore he'd seen something glinting in the room earlier, there wasn't any harm in looking... right? "I'm going to go back in there and look for the key."
He had been leaning against the door, now he slipped it open once more and peered cautiously into the room. An ominous glow continued to to flicker from the ceiling, but the room appeared to be silent. His ear flicked nervously and his wings tucked tightly against his body, but he slipped into the room.
He immediately turned his attention to the wreckage of the old table. A glint of silver had caught his eyes before he'd left the room and, with luck, he'd find it now. (19)

Kama opened her mouth as thought o respond, when the stress of the situation seemed to take its toll on her. Eyes rolling up in her head, she collapsed in a senseless heap. (Please feel free to have her wake up any time, Uny, I just need to get these people moving.)
The man gave a small sharp gasp when hefted, but allowed it, shaking slightly. "Name's...Dom. Hills have me, I'm sorry." He tried to hold onto something, failed, and simply went limp, breathing raggedly as Viola lifted him. "Gloria...her name is...Gloria. She's got friends...be careful." He mumbled.
Nico was only just able to find the key, but as he was leaving, a thick vine descended from the hole in the ceiling, flaming and flailing, it grabbed for him!

Viola let out a small squeak of surprise when Kama passed out. However, there wasn't much she could do about it while she was in the middle of propping up the very unfortunate man who was probably a drug dealer. Still didn't deserve to die, she just needed to remind herself of that.
"It's okay Dom, don't strain yourself, I'm Viola" she said cheerfully as she possibly could. Carefully the woman propped him against the wall as he struggled to move. Her ears drooped a bit. Suits, would they even be able to save him in the condition he was in?
Gloria was the person who did this, and she had friends. Wonderful. At least she had the name of someone to punish for their transgressions. "We'll be careful. Our first priority is getting everyone out of here." She said as she walked over to prop Kama up, a bit. She was still breathing, that was the important part.
She went back to focusing on Dom, making sure he wouldn't randomly fall over or stop breathing. "Do you know the best way to destroy those plants?" Just in case they ran into anymore. She checked the man over for visually to see if anything stood out, or if there was anything other than drugs.

While trying to keep his noise-making to a minimum, Nico dug through the wreckage of the table. Sadly, Nico had not inherited his mother's ninja-esque silence and the wood did its best to defy him at every turn. Or perhaps his ears were just extra sensitive to the noise in fear that he would be discovered? Nevertheless, wood scraped against wood as each piece of shattered table was nudged away from the next and silence only returned when Nico discovered, to his vast joy, a tiny piece of silver laying among the table wreckage.
Ah-ha!
Nico broke into a wide grin as he pulled the key from the wreckage. He knew he'd seen something before! With a happy flick-flick of his tail, the boy cast a wary glance at the ceiling and was about to scamper back out when he saw the vine descend from the ceiling.
His grin instantly fell as a shout of terror escaped him and he dodged nimbly (16) from the flailing vine's grasp.
Oh suits, oh suits! Please do not let the fiery thing catch him! It was bad enough to be trapped before, but now there was a chance of being stuck and on fire. If he managed to escape, he would dart desperately from the room and slam the door shut behind him once again.
