Yuri was mesmerized by the poor man's condition, eying him up and down, wishing like nothing else that he had sketchbook to document it. There appeared to be vines growing into his flesh; like some sort of ghastly botanical parasite. It was really, incredibly hard to not move closer. He kept reminding himself what happened the last time he stuck his face in the mess but the temptation was strong, and did not vanish until the man suddenly up and leapt at Mrs. White.
His eyes went wide and stayed that way.
This was the worst catatonia ever.
He couldn't react quickly enough to help. He just watched, dumbstruck, as the vines emerged; as Mrs. White brandished a knife; as the creature took the hit; as something burbled out of his chest and went flying; and finally as he dropped to the ground, spasming as though in seizure.
His vision strayed to the mass he had expelled. Enticingly disgusting, and if Yuri had not seen where it had just come from he might have argued with himself over whether or not to investigate, but he didn't want to get near it.
"Tegan," he said, surprised that his voice was a little higher pitched than usual. Mrs. White had the knife, of course, but for some reason his thoughts strayed instantly to his sister. "Tegan, you should squash it, kill it."

Tegan nodded slowly, acknowledging that she heard Yuri, but she kept her eyes focused on Ms White and the gentleman on the floor and her ears scanning for sounds. Looking at the man, she noticed (17) the vines growing into him, but stayed calm, giving no indication that she noticed. That didn’t do much good, however, as Makenna noticed (17) it as well, and did not fair so well not panicking at the sight (5). The young human girl’s legs shook as she tried her best not to urinate from fear. She fell to her knees, little clawed hands digging into the leather of her mask and her leathery wings wrapped around her tightly and she shook. Tegan stared at the girl incredulously. She had no problem looting a corpse, but this freaked her out?
“Ma—“ she started to check on the girl when the biped lunged! Tegan almost jumped in to help when Ms. White very clearly showed she was capable of taking care of herself. Well, well then. Demure my ass. The knife slid smoothly through... something causing a plant-like bulb to drop. She didn’t need anyone else telling her what she already wanted to do with the thing. She nudged Yuri.
“Help Makenna. I’ll take care of it,” she said in a tone softer than what she’d been using lately. Not wanting to touch the thing, she did a quick search about the room for something to hit it with. Finding nothing, she trotted over to the twitching man and took his shirt, casually ripping it when any of the parts snagged. She threw the shirt over the plant bulb, then in a most coyote-like of mannerisms, she cocked up on her hind legs and jumped up then landed right on her target (16). She looked over to Ms. White. Tegan had a very odd air of calm about her through all of this.
“You alright?”
[also, I forgot to mention this little ability to you all:
Small ability When Tegan makes direct eye contact with or stands within five feet of anyone, they pick up on an aura of cold from her and suddenly feel about 5 degrees colder than they were before, regardless of the thickness of their fur or clothing. Ranks of King and above are not affected.]

The battle went quickly, with a satisfying slice as the knife cleaved through both flesh and plant matter, everything a mess of blood and some sort of odd-smelling sap from the vine she'd managed to cut as it whipped at her. She might have been laughing but she couldn't be sure; all she heard was a rush in her ears and the gurgles of her pathetic opponent. Of course, then the other vine hit her wrist and started to burrow, and she let out a yowl of pain and surprise. Clearly, then, these plants were some sort of parasite.
She brought the claws up from her right paw and swiped at the vine trying to turn her into some sort of plant-infested mess, too, but the motion was uncoordinated (5), as she lost track of her knife in the chaos. She lunged for the knife, again, managing to just barely grab it between two pawpads (11), and swiped at the threatening vine with it, instead, with more successful aim (11 again). Letting out a satisfied hiss, Nellwyn looked around with burning eyes to see what was going on. The Canine slumped to the ground, and she turned just in time to catch his pleading look. Now he was twitching, and she thought she should probably just kill him--
She heard someone call out to her, and turned, blinking. Right. She wasn't alone. How annoying. She felt oddly cold at Tegan's glance, for some reason, but she pushed the feeling off as the fading of adrenaline now that the battle seemed to be over. Though what was that on the floor, that Tegan had just stomped on? One eyebrow went up. How very interesting this was turning out to be! "Fine," she managed in a cool tone, and fingered her knife, considering the still-twitching man.

Yuri went quickly to his sister's side, letting Tegan take care of the thing--she stomped it, good, seeing her legs come down on it almost immediately made him feel better about life--and Mrs. White. Makenna looked completely beside herself with fear, curled up into a little cocoon of her own wings, and her panic tugged his brotherly sympathy strings in a neat melody of tender feeling.
"Hey, Makenna, it's stopped," he said, gently, nuzzling a little at the back of her neck, where she wasn't all covering herself up. He was vaguely curious about what they were going to do with the man himself, though--he had just proved too dangerous to take with them, they didn't appear able to talk to him...would they...could they...He put it out of his mind for the moment. "I think I need another hug, you should open up and give me one."
