Oh yeah. Food would be a good thing to have. They hadn't had anything since breakfast, and she had no bloody idea what time it was. And normally she didn't have proper meals when it came down to it. Why not just eat something while still traveling?
"I suppose that's a good idea," Rosemary said as she came to a stop. It took a moment for her to shrug off her pack. They were at the edge of the wood where the trees were further spread out. And for the sounds of it there were no randomly carnivorous critters running around. "We can eat here then, unless you have any objections. I'd rather eat under the cover of trees rather than take a step outside and run into something or someone who isn't all that friendly."
The canine mix's neck cracked when she glanced upward. "Either way from the sound of that I need a break."

"I have no objections with here," Tegan replied, waiting to settle until after Rosemary picked a spot. It felt odd placing trust in someone else, but Rosemary was the experienced traveler. Tegan didn't have much of a choice. They settled down and went through their rations. The Bander snuffled around the bushes nearby and began to chew on some berries.
"Uh, are those safe to eat?" she asked, unfamiliar with the local vegetation.

Rosemary looked up from her small meal when Tegan spoke. Her eyes followed the gaze to the bander. It was eating some berries off of a bush, and it would have been one hell of a hassle if those had actually been poisonous.
"For a bander, yes," Rosemary said as she narrowed her eyes at the creature. "They taste pretty nasty but they aren't poisonous. They're a primary ingredient in paint, makes a lovely shade of crimson."
She bit off a chunk of jerky for herself. "Though you might want to give your bander this instead. We don't want any vomiting or other nasty side effects because of a bitter taste. Anyway, I think this is far more healthy for it."
She took a small drink from her canteen after handing Tegan the jerky. They still had a long way to go and she wasn't about to waste food.

"I'll let her figure that out," said Tegan shrugging and putting the jerky beside her. Sure enough, it wasn't long before Siku made a small retching noise and sneezed at the bush of berries. She came back to the two woman and gladly snapped up the piece of jerky lying on the ground. She then decided to search the vicinity for anything dead or to catch.
Tegan ate until she was comfortable and was ready to go. No reason they shouldn't conserve as much as they could (she's learned that the hard way). She stretched her wrists and ankles and gave them as much of a roll as her Canine joints would allow.
"Ready when you are."

Rosemary was more than ready to get going. She gave the other woman a smile before hoisting her pack back on. "Let's march. Keep close just in case something from the Wood decided to slip out of the boundary. We should be fine though, most of the critters come out at night and the birds wouldn't be as loud as they are now if something dangerous was around."
And away they went. Hopefully they would get a little bit closer to civilization before they had to stop. There was a tiny chance they could make it to some sort of inn, of course... she would probably stay awake the entire night "just in case." Anything this far out was probably filled with murders.
Rosemary had no intention of stopping unless Tegan voiced her opinion. The long haul didn't bother her, in fact she was humming rather cheerfully the entire time.

"You got it," she said, doing as she was told. She stayed close and continued to walk until they reached an inn. Her feet and ankles ached like mad, but it was far more tolerable than the thought of sleeping outside over night in a rather sketchy area. She'd already encountered that and barely got out alive. It was not something she wished to repeat, even with back up.
Tegan stretched out on one of the lumpy beds and massaged her formerly pampered little feet as best she could with her paws.
"Yanno, independence is one thing, but I'm enjoying having a bit of company on this leg of the journey. Makes five-star establishments like this one even more incredible," she said sarcastically. Still, the entire situation was more tolerable now that there was someone else here. She knew exactly what she would feel like if she were on her own.

Rosemary cackled at Tegan's remark. This was one of the less sketchy inns that she had had the pleasure of staying at. And at the very least this one had properly stuffed beds. Much better than sleeping on stray that may be filled with strange body fluids. Those were the places where she slept on the uncomfortable floor. Guh. Fond memories.
Her tail curled around her as she wiggled on the bed. "Trust me this is one of the better places we can stay that. No one will try to break in and steal our packs. Plus we can get a little food off of the inn keeper's wife rather than dipping into our rations."
This trip was going far better than she actually anticipated. "And I think we might get there a bit earlier than I planned. We're making a lot better time than I thought we would."

And yet for all the appreciation she had for the company, Tegan still took mental notes. Knowledge for the future in preparation for ditching her new-found companion. Hell, she'd never been to the Glacier before, so what good would she be up there? She'd just get in the way of the plan. Then again, having a bard around to witness her exploits firsthand might not be a bad idea. Hmm. The situation will have to be gauged when they actually get there.
"Well, that's good to know," Sleeping easy isn't something I've been doing lately. She stop attempting to massage her paws and she stood on her bed and walked around it, trying to find the most comfortable spot on it. Back in the Court, this would have been unacceptable, but that lifestyle wasn't hers to have anymore. Well, not yet. "What kind of breakfast can we look forward to tomorrow?" she asked, hopping off the bed to her bag. The only book she'd bothered to bring with her was a review tool to keep her Solandrian refreshed. Father had been intent on teaching his Solandrian children the language, as had Mother with her Bog children, but Tegan had always preferred the Glacier tongue. Its guttural tones and grammar that made sense appealed to her more than the ugly, backwards Bog gibberish Mother took so much pride in. Tegan put the book on the bed beside her when she got back up on it, but didn't open it yet.

Rosemary rolled around on the bed trying to find a properly comfortable spot. Nothing was really suiting. Maybe she should just use her Club ability to stay up the night. Her toes curled as she held them up in the air, ears twitching as they listened to Tegan.
"Probably just some oatmeal and some fruit." She shrugged as she watched the Tegan get the book from her bag. A book. She rolled onto a proper position she could peer at what the girl was going to read. Was that a book on language? Perhaps she should offer some help, she had studied Solandrian extensively so she could actually go there and not get kicked in the head. Somehow, she imagined getting hit by a true cold blooded Solandrian would hurt like a bitch and she'd probably end up with a concussion.
"<Good of you to learn the language before actually venturing into the realm.>" She said with a smile in Solandrian.

"Oh, that sounds like an excellent breakfast," she commented with a small tail wag. Normally she preferred a diet consisting of meat and fruit, but she did enjoy carbs, especially when they complimented fruit as beautifully as oatmeal did. She just needed to remember not to have her expectations too high.
At the familiar sounds of the Solandrian language she perked up.
"<My father was from the Glacier and taught me it growing up, I'm only brushing up on my skills. Where did you learn it? How many other languages do you know?>"
