And the danger swooped in far faster than Rosemary was ready for. She expected to be able to play in the snow like a good old fashioned dork, but was brought back to reality far quicker than would have liked.
There were men. A pack of them for lack of a better term. All of them were clearly Solandrian, built large and a few of them were covered in scars. One that looked like a particularly awful thug was in his bipedal form.
A sickening smile crossed his face.
Rosemary knew that smile. It was the same predatory look she gave people who walked into the Wood that she knew would never escape. A soft growl escaped her as she edged closer to her companion.
It was too cold for this shit. She was even wearing padding and she could feel the cold slowly seeping in. "What do you wonderful gentlemen want?"
The ringleader, or that's what Rosemary assumed, pulled a knife out of seemingly nowhere. "Ladies... we just want to have a nice little chat."

Siku spun around where she stood to face the threat. She sneezed aggressively at them, never taking her eyes away. Tegan was not amused. She felt fear, of course. She had no doubt as to the extent of ill-will these men intended for them. However, mostly she was irritated. Really? Now?
"Put the knife away and you'll get a nice chat," she growled, fur rising, "Continue brandishing it at us, and you'll get something less kind." One of the lackeys in the back laughed.
"Yoh mey be'a Keeng, dahling, but yoh are een no place to be maeking threats. Yoh are greatly out-nohbered," he sneered in his thick accent. Tegan glared at him. He didn't seem to notice the effect direct eye contact with her had.
"Oh! Deh leetle meex-mutt has got herr panties een a tweest!" Howling laughter. A good number of them were Clubs. Good... wait no. So was Rosemary. She'd have to wait until Rosemary was far enough away as to not turn her to stone as well. If anything, her time with Rosemary had taught Tegan that Rosemary wasn't about to leave her behind.
"I don't want a fight. We'll leave with no problem if you let us," she attempted to reason. There was a little too much threat in her tone, however. Not that it would have mattered.
"If you didn't want a fight," spoke up the assumed leader once more, "then you shouldn't have willingly crossed the border." Tegan looked over the group.
"And you all agree with this?" she asked. Some nodded, some stared back at her menacingly, one laughed, one acknowledged her verbally. "Well then, if it's unanimous..." The snow in underneath them shifted, then out of the snow two large snow monsters burst out of the snow, trapping a few of the attackers in the snow they were made of and running to the edge of her control.
Strong Magical Ability When activated, she can move or shift snow into large, formidable creatures that can reach up to eight feet at the shoulder. She can only manage two at a time and they must stay within five feet of her or fall apart. While within five feet, she can fully control their movements. Jack’s Ability The snow creatures that she creates can now move up to forty feet away from her before they fall apart. She receives no warning when they reach the perimeter of her control.

Rosemary was ill equipped when it came to fighting. Her powers were used for running like hell more than anything else. And of course she would be the only person escaping.
And she actually felt a bit of guilt over it.
And she said she wouldn't get attached to another random stranger. Rosemary's tail fluffed out under it's covers as she growled at the men. What could she do? There were no oak trees. She could cast one spell that was useful but it would only work on one person. The only option was her small spell that would someone bored with the conversation, except that would probably lead to immediate violence.
Or.... giant snow monsters could appear to save their lives?
That was a new one. Rosemary blinked in surprise as she found her jaw open slightly. The gold made her snap it up as she looked to Tegan. "So uh... you can make... snow monsters?"

"Yes," she answered her dumbfounded companion, "Now ru--" she was caught off guard by a sudden pain in her throat. One of them was a Heart. The remaining lunged, most dropped and slowed when they neared Tegan, her ring affecting all those below the rank of 10. The leader, however, got through and made it to Tegan first. Even in his biped form, he masterfully managed to tackle the quadruped in a way as to get all of her feet off the ground. She bit and fought, panic overriding any tactics. She managed to wiggle her left paw up to try to push his face away, only to get a digit bitten off. She howled in pain and activated her King ability, dropping him and herself. Siku was busy attacking one of the slowed attackers. In the meantime, the ones that had been knocked back by the snow beasts were recovering and digging themselves out of the snow.
Silver Ring A small silver ring that feel faintly tingly when placed on. When worn the owner will notice that it sparkles even in the absence of light. This ring will cause people around this SD to feel light hearted and slightly sleepy. Cards of Rank 10 and above should still be able to act normally, but anything less and they will begin to feel exhausted, though happy. Cards ranked Three or lower might fall asleep <3
King’s Ability Once per week, she can touch another person and literally chill their blood to the point that they fall over in a catatonic state for ten minutes. Using this ability causes her own body temperature to drop and she can only move at an extremely slow pace. Her strength is also extremely limited. Picking up anything that weighs more than five pounds will be beyond her for an hour afterwards.

Rosemary was going to run on direction, and then Tegan was tackled. She yelped and jumped back in surprise. And of course when she went to help her companion she was grabbed from behind.
She flailed violently as the person grabbed her neck. In a flash Forge was summoned, in his human form to the surprise of the assailant. Of course he wasn't surprised enough to let go of her neck. That would have been too easy.
It was the punch to his snout that made him drop like a ton of bricks. And she proceeded to kick the wonderful gentlemen in the junk to make sure he would stay down. Forge switched to a sword, which she grabbed in her mouth and hurried towards Tegan. Shit. Was she okay? Most of the people seemed like they were down for the count. Or at least preoccupied.
"Lethgo!" she said as she kicked one of the thugs while running to Tegan's aide.

Her entire body was weak from the attack. She weakly attempted to stand up and move away from the Solandrian twitching in front of her. Rosemary was approaching. Good. The others were finally catching up.
"SIKU!" she shouted to her pet. The bander wasn't really on the winning side of her own fight, so she came running quickly. The others were closing in quickly. Tegan summoned one snow beast to form underneath them so that they would end up on its back for it to carry them back to safety. The assailants slowed and stopped in their pursuit, watching the creature run into the distance. for spite, Tegan summoned a second snow beast to attack them as they ran away.
"Are you okay?" she asked Rosemary as they headed back for safety. She slumped back down on the beast, too tired to bother to stay standing. She licked the amputated nub that was once a toe then stuck it under the snow to try to numb it.

Well. This was one hell of a way to end an adventure. She unsummoned Forge so she could speak properly. "Shouldn't I be asking you how you are. That's one hell of a bite...."
She eyed the woman's paw as she dipped it into the snow. She may have been sore from being choked, but really that looked far worse. Losing limbs was a horrible thing and that looked... important. Her tail curled as she looked over her shoulder.
"I guess I should have listened to you. I'm so sorry... now you're hurt because of me." She was actually worried about someone. Well, that was new. Hopefully Tegan would be okay. "If you're still bleeding I should be able to stop it... though it looks like the cold did quite a bit for you."
Damn. It really was cold. Maybe she should get more clothing when she came back... assuming they could get back.

"It's not like I really fought against going that much, Rose," she breathed heavily, resisting putting her head down so as she could still see where she was making the snow beast run to. Siku made a noise at Tegan, wanting to join her at her side, but was too terrified of their current mode of transport to move from her place. "It's okay, Siku. Just stay there, girl," she called weakly to her bander. "If you want to do something about it now, go ahead. Just don't do anything that'll make you lose your grip and fall off, okay?"
Within a few minutes they were back in a safe place behind the Sorgaire border. The snow beast dissipated and Tegan allowed the locals to carry her inside and care for her and her bander.

Rosemary was terribly careful as she clung onto the monster. She took a look at the appendage, the bleeding had already stopped so there wasn't much she could do about it.
Except feel bad. Great.
The wolf wasn't much help at doing much of anything. At least the locals were willing to help carry Tegan and her pet in. Rosemary lagged behind the group, feeling like a complete and utter waste of space.
She needed to get better at this sort of thing. Fighting and defending more than one person was difficult. She was used to just saving her own ass. And having a sword didn't do much when you were up against a group of thugs. If this ever happened again....
She could just go back to traveling alone.
At the very least she could pay for the medical bill. It made her feel a tiny bit better.
"I suppose... I should have listened to you."
