He chuckled at the conversation that passed between the two of them. Eyeing Minh he laughed a little harder when he realized that he could indeed see her as a child running away to be a pirate then getting lost. For some reason he was glad to hear that she had had a nice childhood. It seemed that more and more these days it was quite the opposite. Absentmindedly he wondered what his own childhood would have been like had he had a family like the feline’s.
Taking another sip from his coffee, he pondered over what they were going to do next. The canine had said that she might have a job for him. At the current moment however, he was more then willing to just sit back and let the conversation flow around him. He did not have much else to do with his time, so sitting in the dinning room drinking free coffee was something he was going to give up easily.

She should have known there would be a whole litter of children. One or two she could more or less successfully ignore. But not that many. Not six. That way lay madness. And Mnem possibly committing murder, and for some reason there was nothing judicial court seemed to frown on more than the gruesome deaths of irksome little ankle-biters. She couldn't imagine why. Had they ever actually met any children?
"How in hell could they stand to pop so many out?" Her tone was baffled and incredulous. She was honestly curious. She already thought that Minh's brother must have had some incredible patience to deal with Minh's crazy growing up--and for all that Mnem liked her quite a bit, Minh could sometimes be...very special--but now she thought that his level of patience and dedication must have been downright Penelopian.

Minh shrugged, not really understanding Mnem's horror. Her brother had always wanted a big family, and had been inordinately stubborn waiting to settle down until he found a partner that wanted as many children as he did. Eventually, he'd ran into his dream man, almost entirely accidentally, and they hit it off from the start. Brendon and he got married soon after, and within a year Josie (though she preferred 'JoJo' these days) had been born.
Coincidently, Minh benefited. Nana spent more time focused on the kids, and less time badgering Minh about being social and tidy and respectful of her elders. And Minh, who liked kids, had a bundle or nieces and nephews to spoil rotten and corrupt.
It was harder then she had initially predicted, however, and she hadn't made very much headway with anyone except with the youngest, Toby. Which really wasn't saying much, since the little brat was the reincarnation of the devil himself.

Oh, did she enjoy it when Minh was entirely noncommittal. It helped conversation a lot. Mnem sighed. Seeing that the feline apparently had no answer to the question or was just wasn't going to respond--or she had spontaneous lost interest in the topic, which wouldn't surprise Mnem at all, because sometimes Minh had the attention span of a knat--she said, "Well, I'm sure it will be very pleasant to meet them one day, you know how much I adore children, such cute little ingrates!" and turned to Aderlass, who had been watching with what appeared to be no small degree of amusement. Probably he loved little ankle-biters. It wouldn't be surprising. Or he just enjoyed watching them banter. Either way.
"But worrying about demon spawn is for another time. I do believe we came here to discuss a bit of business as well."

He was more then a little amused by the two females banter at each other, and the feline’s apparently inability to keep a discussion going. He brought his attention more fully on what was going on with their discussion.
“Yes I believe you mentioned something about having a job for me earlier.” He replied to Mnem, it had been the main thing that had had him traveling over to their apartment, well that and the plant for Miss Haret.
It would be interesting to see what this canine, and maybe the feline, had that he could do. He wondered what it could be that the females wanted him to do. It had better not be cleaning this place up, he thought with an irritated glance around the room. And it defiantly would not be giving up any more blood or being apart of any experiments. he continued the thought bringing his gaze back to the two females.

Mnem nodded, and took another sip of her tea. "Yes," she said. "I do. I've been working on setting up shop in Capital City, you see. Selling many things, buying some. Minh knows some of what I've been up to. Poisons. Some salves and antidotes, too. But a good deal of it is...slightly illegal. Or more than slightly. Most people don't use poisons to decorate a fireplace mantle."
She smiled, briefly. "Anyway. I'm looking for a rather fearless and capable individual--such as yourself--whom I can trust to...get things from point A to point B, and make sure transactions run smoothly. I'm also interesting in your...talent with jewels. Some of the people I deal with would be more happy with a very pretty trinket than with money, and would be more persuaded to give me something good. I would compensate you, of course."

He took in what she said as well as some of what she had not exactly said about the job she had for him. It seemed like it would be an easy enough job and the mentioning of jewels had more then piped his interest.
The fact that some of what he would handle would be illegal did not bother him so much either. He figured that she would not always mention exactly what it was that he was to carry to a said destination so over that he could be oblivious. And he did need a job with some sort of income.
It seemed that the job would also give him plenty of time and opportunity to see around the capital as well as maybe some of the other regions. “I suppose I would be willing to help you out.” He replied. “Though I have to warn you I will not be considered just a runner.”

Mnem's smile has as genuinely congenial as it was ever likely to get. Nothing pleased her more than when things went her way (other than, perhaps, a nice bit of the old intoxicating substances and a lovely companion to spend the night with, but that often went hand-in-hand with the things-going-her-way bit), and this was working out quite spectacularly.
"Of course not. I wouldn't think to demean you in such a manner." And she wouldn't. He was a man, but he was a capable one, and she liked him. "There are negotiations to be made, and by now I trust that you are intelligent enough person to get the best kind of deal. As long as the ends are met, I care very little as to your means."
Her smile turned a touch wry. "I am, after all, the last person who could in good conscience chastise someone for unethical behavior."

Minh watched the interaction between the two with increasing disinterest--while illegal activities were always entertaining, she just really couldn't imagine Aderlass ever really, truly appreciation the trade. Crime was a fine art, after all.
She finished cleaning up her supplies, and tossed the used needle in the rubbish bin: probably not the safest practice, but she was pretty confident that Aderlass was clean. And she didn't take out the trash, anyway, so there was no reason to worry about getting poked by a wayward needle. Being lazy sometimes had its advantages.
"Well, as fascinating as all this is, I'm going to step out for a moment and get this blood on some ice."
She gathered up the precious vials, reminded all too well that one of those vials was empty, and scurried up stairs. At her workbench she carefully labeled the vials before heading for the coolant unit. It went in the carefully organized racks, with all the others.
It made her happy, looking at all that blood.
