Mnem felt a momentary rush of some kind of personal pride at what her friend had been able to accomplish, and then her mind went down several different roads at once, wondering how she could use this to her advantage. She would no longer have to send people out to contact any Club, no longer have to pay them and send them off on what was sometimes long, tedius business--Minh could do that for her.
The business proposition she had for Aderlass would remain largely the same, however. Which reminded her of the task at hand. As entertaining and potentially profitable this little side-venture had been, they had places to go and deals to make.
And what the hell was the black canine doing this interlude? Just standing there? She had to be bored out of her mind.
She said, "Are we all quite ready to head out, then?"

Minh caught the speculative glint in Mnem’s eye with no small feeling of amusement—no doubt the devious canine was thinking of some way to exploit this new found ability of Minh’s to her own advantage. Not that Minh particularly minded, since she was pretty sure she could bargain for a steady supply of better roasted coffee as payment for her continued cooperation.
She nodded in affirmation of Mnem’s inquiry, “Shall we, then?”
Gesturing genially with a paw, Minh set off down the road in the direction of their apartment—assuming that’s where they still were headed—humming a rather annoying ditty that the old hag was always in the habit of singing while she sewed.
She had no idea what real good this new ability would prove to be, or even if her apparent affinity for grass of all things would manifest itself in any other ways. But it was always fun to experiment, wasn’t it.

Wotever thing had just occurred, it left Haret vaguely in the dark. She caught the edge of flashing colours, and then had the distinct feeling of the strange mouse’s eyes. The third Club of the party blinked in purple-toned surprise as she glanced from Minh to Aderlass in much of the same vein. Wotever had just occurred, it had not included the pink canine, and the Torquehelmian had to wonder wot else was going on behind the hooded gazes of her companions before Aderlass was congratulating Minh who seemed exceedingly proud of herself. But no one was saying anything specific and now Minh was sending them on their way. Haret briefly considered outright asking, but if the others wanted her to know then they would tell her. She doubted this group that seemed to dislike her so would want to include her in something so private.
The black dog followed the others without a word, unwilling to add in anything to their traveling noises.

Mnem led the way back to the apartment, with Aderlass and Minh at her heels and the dark bipedal lagging a bit behind. She wondered how the seemingly delicately-natured canine (she really would have to get her name, at some point; Mnem was making a terrible habit of not knowing their names) would take to seeing the shadier part of town; for a moment Mnem wished a band of muggers or a street gang would burst out of the shadows, just for a bit of excitement, but it seemed destined not to be. The cracked, dirty streets remained infuriatingly calm. At least it was beginning to rain a bit.
Mnem thought it set a nice atmosphere for the area in general and their abode in particular.
Finally, they reached the apartment. As they approached the steps, Mnem said, "I suggest being on your guard and watching your step." She opened the door, and invited them in. "What kind of tea do you all prefer?"

Making his way across the threshold, the mouse was greeted by the sight of a room that looked like a terrible wind has blown through, bringing with it all sorts of oddities. There were books and plants everywhere. Furniture that did not match, most of it broken in one way or another lined the walls. There was barely any room for one to put their paw down. He scanned the room, taking it all in. He could not quite tell if they just lived messily or if they did not care about how they lived.
“It is uh . . . a lovely abode.” The mouse said, pulling his hand away quickly from a stack of books he had rested it on for a moment, which now teetered threatening to fall over onto his foot. Stepping back, he scanned the room again. Egads, there were a lot of plants. What in the world could they need with such vegetation.

Haret followed silently along behind the others, still wanting to break away and still unable to make herself just do it. So she entered the ‘house’ after Aderlass, pausing at the door because the mouse had to be cautious where to put his feet. She looked at the indoors and her eyes gave away her sheer unease at trying to get through the mess without breaking something. Or herself. As the mouse made his way in, Haret continued to hesitate. At least, came the consoling if rather wry thought, if she broke something it would only be in addition to the cracks and wot not already there.
She eased into the room with care, knowing that the others were likely thinking demeaning things, but she still moved slowly. Her tail tended to wag when she was uneasy, trying to subconsciously sway others to her side, but now she held it carefully still; it could easily sweep all manner of bits and things from their respective ‘homes’ and onto the floor in a jumbled mess. ”Any kind will do,” she answered Mnem’s question faintly, bumping into a table and freezing until I t wobbled itself back still. This was a bit nerve-wracking.

Minh traversed the messy apartment with long-practiced ease, following an almost invisible path through the chaos to safety. She barely paid attention to the discomfiture of their impromptu guests—the entry way and kitchen were actually relatively clean by household standards, and it was most definitely the safest part of the apartment. Wandering farther in could be rather more than tricky if you weren’t careful—there were still several unaccounted rouge experiments lurking about, and one could never be to sure when or where you’d stumble across them. And then there were long-forgotten experiments, half-hidden beneath layers of fallen books and collapsed boxes waiting for the unwary to lurch into their net.
She turned to their guests and beckoned them towards the kitchen table, clearing several week’s worth of old newspapers to the side before sitting down herself as she watched Mnem bustle around with the kettle.
“I want peppermint.”

He had finally made his way to the kitchen, having trodden on many things, though since nothing had bitten him, yet, he did not think he had too much to worry about. He watched as the feline made haste in clearing off the table for company by swinging her arm across it, sending most of the items rushing to the floor. Well, at least he knew now why the rest of the house looked like it did.
He took a seat, not waiting to be told to sit down. Wot kind of tea did he want? He pondered the question. He was defiantly not a big drinker of tea; he had not even realized that there were so many different kinds of flavors. Knowing the rules of hospitality and that if he wanted to know anything from the colorful canine then he was figuring it would not be a wise idea to offend her. Listening to the canine's request, he figured it would be as good as anyother flavor.
“Peppermint should be fine.”

Mnem put the kettle on and retrieved the necessary components of the peppermint tea. She wanted a simple spice, herself, and got that out as well. She wished for a fleeting moment that she had some sort of pleasant snack food to serve them--tea-time had been a daily occurance in the Gardens in the early afternoon, and whenever guests were present it was considered quite impolite not to offer some kind of tasty little pastry--but she pushed that out of her head. Capital City did not observe the same sort of customs, and Mnem had never really had tea with many people.
They were sitting at the table when Mnem came in with the tea. Nothing in the apartment seemed to have maimed them yet--this was good. But they had only just arrived. There was plenty of time for injury or death.
She served the tea.
"Aderlass," she said, "you mentioned possibily being interested in business partners. What kinds of things do you do?"

He accepted the cup of tea, looking at the design. It appeared to be a faded imprint of what seemed to be vines, weaving in an intimate design. Tapping his finger against it, he watched as the others were served their cup of tea, his mind spacing.
His attention was brought back to what was going on in the chaotic room when he heard “. . . you mentioned possibly being interested in business partners. What kinds of things do you do?"
He took a sip of his tea and burned himself. He placed the cup on the table quickly, giving it a death glare. Tea. Only the wusses drank tea he decided. Clearing his throat he answered the question that had been aimed at him. ”Well, at the current moment, I am doing nothing. However, after second school I was able to gain an apprenticeship with a jewel crafter back home. I was studying under him till just recently. I have only been in the Capital a few weeks.”
