Hatter made a softly contented noise in the back of his throat as Peaches licked him, and gave her a brief squeeze around the waist before heading toward the kitchen. The prospect of a properly made breakfast left him grinning widely and put a pleasant bounce in his step. His exhaustion was quickly passing as he moved and by the time he reached the kitchen his head no longer felt so muddled with sleep.
"I think we've got potatoes," he murmured to himself as he set about preparing tea, "I just...don't know where." He paused in his prepping, tapping a finger to his chin as his brows furrowed slightly. He could've searched the kitchen himself and, for a brief moment, he scanned the cabinets and fridge thoughtfully but found that he couldn't mentally place anything inside.
Oi! Loreta had organized it all, since he typically didn't cook much anyway, and he had no clue where she'd put potatoes.
"Well, yeah... I'm sure we do." Pouting adorably, he turned back to his one medium within the kitchen: preparing tea.

Peaches was far too groggy to figure out where the potatoes were. She generally knew how Loreta organized things, but she probably wouldn't be able to place anything until she got some form of caffeine in her.
The woman propped her head in her hands as she watched him make tea. They way he moved so fluidly was pleasant to study. He had done it so many times before it was completely automatic and conditioned. It made her wonder what would happen if he could cook something.
She shrugged off the idea, slowly shifting so her head was on the table. The events of that night replayed through her head. Pravus was the cause of all this grief, the bastard. Why the hell couldn't he appreciate the fact that there were people who wanted to take care of him? Why the hell had she decided to develop some sort of an attachment to him? Stupid.
Peaches mewed happily when she was presented with tea. Honestly she didn't care what blend it was, it was tea!

If Hatter had somehow been able to apply his skill with tea into cooking, he probably would be a chef. In fact, when Loreta laid things out for him and kept him focused, Hatter was rather good at it. It was just a matter of keeping him focused.
Hatter glanced over at Peaches as he piled everything onto the tray and his expression drooped a little. She was thinking again, he could see the upset in her posture, and he felt that familiar pang of sorrow wash over him. His perfect stranger... Who could ever endure breaking her heart like this?
If she didn't care so much about whoever they were, then he'd be tempted to give them a firm beating...but, she did and so he wouldn't. Instead he smiled and made his way to the table, setting the tray down and nudging a cup lightly into her hands. If she were to look up and meet his eyes, they'd have that strange quality to them once more, but he quickly cleared them as he shifted to sit beside her.

She caught his eyes briefly when he handed her the tea. That was the same look he had last night, wasn't it? She choked down a sigh and buried all the grief she had at the moment. All the pain could wait just a little longer.
Peaches took a sip of tea. It would probably have been more of a comfort if it was hot enough to burn, but that was a bit over the top, wasn't it? She gave a happy sigh as she set down the cup to remove her gloves. Magical clothing was useful, but sometimes it got rather annoying.
"Thank you, just what I needed to start the day!" She said cheerily as she leaned over to lick him on the cheek. A little bit of reassurance went a long way, didn't it? Well, she could only hope. "I always do love your choice in teas."

Hatter watched as she took off her gloves, a small smile touching his features. He was glad she was comfortable enough to do that with him and was, in fact, pleased that she had chosen him to come to in the first place.
"Mmm, I know!" The lightness had returned to his eyes and to his smile, though that darkness would continue to lurk for some time. It was not Peaches fault by any means, but his own worrisome nature. There were few people in the world that Hatter desired to protect above all else and Peaches was one of them.
He took another sip of tea before beaming up at her, that compliment obviously meaning a great deal to him. "Why thank you, Peaches!" He squirmed happily in his seat, grinning up at her. "I love your preference in teas as well, they're always delightful."

Oh how she loved flattery, even it it was about her choices in tea. She gave him a small kiss on the cheek before picking up her tea and heading to the kitchen. She rolled her sleeves up completely, to the point where she could tie the belts around her upper arm to prevent the fabric from falling.
Now it was time to make some magic in the kitchen and enjoy her tea while doing so. It didn't take her long to find everything that she needed. Loreta was a good cook, and amazing at organizing things.
It wasn't long before she had everything she said she would set out in front of him. She handed him an empty dinner plate, and grabbed one for herself. "Take what you want, have a blast. It's been a while since I got to cook a proper breakfast. Glad I didn't lose by skills as a short order cook!" Peaches made a happy sound as she handed Hatter a fork and knife. He could get his own condiments and such since everything was set up.
Breakfast of champions.

Hatter smiled at her pleasure, returned the kiss, and then allowed her to go make her magic in the kitchen. Once she returned, he boggled the food and made a delightedly cheerful noise.
"It looks delicious, Peaches!" If it were possible, he'd have stars in his eyes. As it was he was already happily setting up plates as she spoke. Hatter loved breakfast, and he loved breakfast even more when it was made by Peaches or Loreta.
Lords they were good at what they did!
Peaches's cooking was as good as it always was, perhaps even better with the availability of proper ingredients, and by the time Hatter finished wolfing down his meal it would be hard to tell if he'd managed to actually taste anything or not. "Mmmm~" He cooed out, eyes half-lidded with the content of his fullness. "Try as Loreta may, I'll never be able to out cook you two... Though, I would love to make you two breakfast sometime...for all the times you've made me breakfast."
He smiled across at his friend, pleasure showing clearly on every inch of his face.

Peaches was still taking her sweet time finishing offer her eggs when Hatter finished his entire meal. Wow, he must have appreciated good food more than she realized. He even took a bit off of the plate she was saving for herself.
She giggled at the comment about breakfast. "Hatter, we wouldn't want you to make breakfast for use. We enjoy making it ourselves. Plus I highly doubt Loreta would trust you in the kitchen for that long without helping you out." She waved the fork around as she spoke, then went back to finishing off her eggs. The last thing was her hash browns. Mmm, how could someone not love something that was so good with a little bit of salt?
Once she was finished she gave Hatter another small smile. "Out of curiosity, would Marchie like the left overs?" She motioned to the two plates that were very much a full course meal for two normal Cards. She had no idea how much Rabbits ate though. "I could wrap it up and we could have it as a bagged lunch if he doesn't."

Hatter smiled at Peaches, bobbing his head in quiet agreement. Yeah, Loreta didn't really trust him. Hadn't she kicked him out of the kitchen last time he tried? Or had that just been with alcohol? Er, probably both.
"She really doesn't. I'm usually stuck holding Kaden while she cooks, which is...challenging." The bigger that boy got the more he tried to squirm wildly out of control. "He squirms more than I do!"
To the Marchie comment, Hatter nodded his head. "Yeah, he'd love 'em. He's been enjoying all this spoiling lately too. I was actually planning on having Doorie run a plate down to him once we'd had our fill. We should have plenty to spare for a small bagged lunch, though, he'll probably only eat pancakes and hash browns." Hatter was piling his plate with just that as he spoke and, once he'd finished, he called Doorie into the room with a soft whistle. Placing the plate on Doorie's head, he waved him toward the basement and the mome happily hurried off.
