Rosemary grinned to herself. "I'll keep that in mind," she said as she trotted behind her sister a ways back. She would say goodbye form afar. It was just a bit easier that way, and it would prevent the wolf-squirrel from trying to give her sister a hug.
Josephine was indeed packed and ready to go. She took the offerings of lunch and packed them in the proper bag. At least Kazifel knew how to cook something eatable and mobile. She turned to see Thyme come down the stairs and gave her a weak smile. Josephine was happy to go, but she didn't like having to travel through the woods to get out regardless. "Ready to go I hope?" she asked as she picked up one of the two bags she had brought with her.
The older woman didn't wait for a response as she walked towards the door. Thyme could catch up.

When she saw that her aunt had the lunches, Thyme knew they would be leaving that very instant and refrained from sighing. It was kind of nice to be home for a little while, even if it was under decidedly unpleasant circumstances and she had to share a room with Sage. There was still Rose to distract her, and her Dad's food was something she'd really missed. The cooks back at the manner were fantastic, but it still wasn't quite the 'same'.
"Bye, Dad. I'd give you a hug, except... well, invisible hug, right? Don't want you passing out or anything. Say goodbye to Mom for me, alright?" Half of her was glad that her mother was obviously occupied somewhere else and didn't realize they were leaving so soon, else she probably would have been treated to another full-body hug and had to deal with the squirrel swooning again.
She glanced over at Rose. "See you soon." Then she trotted out of the house and followed her aunt to where their guide was staying.

"Bye sweetheart, don't be a stranger and visit a bit more often. Your mother misses you, you know." He said quietly as he watched her go.
Rosemary waved and sang in a taunting tone, "See you soon~!" It was enough to make Josephine wince slightly. She obviously wanted nothing to do with the horrible little wolf girl, but couldn't keep her out of the house.
It was going to be a terribly long trip back to the Highlands.
---
She was happy to make it home on time. Or at least close enough to on time that Josephine didn't have to go into a panic attack. Before the meeting she still had a lot of work to do. However, she turned back to Thyme. "So now that all of that's settled everything should be fine and you can return to your studies. That and I can research a bit more on this interesting... happening. At least this isn't all a disaster."

To Thyme, the trip back to the Highlands didn't drag on nearly as badly as the one into the Wood. She didn't have the worry over what her family would think and how everyone would take it hanging over her head. Even more importantly, she didn't have to fret over whether or not she would still have a place in her aunt's home, which she'd slowly been coming to think of as her home. She'd spent four years there already and didn't plan on leaving anytime soon, not on any kind of permanent basis at any rate. She still had a lot of work to do before she needed to search outside her aunt's library for material.
"Yes, Aunt. It turned out a lot better than I'd expected, actually." Even if she had to live with the consequences of her curiosity for the rest of her life, at least her family took it well and her aunt still considered her a Highlander. In the grand scheme of things, that was really all it affected that she cared about.
And she did have research to return to. It was so novel, to have her own work to do and her own studies to pursue based on her own interests, not just things she was being taught. The day her aunt had deemed her old enough for that privilege had been an incredible day.
"I'll go to the library and gather some materials, then, and join you for dinner in a few hours." She dipped her head politely, then trotted off. She had a lot to do...
((*headtilt* Think this is a good point to end it or do you want to go further?))
