(( As far as i'm aware, neither of us are against meeting others in here.... <3 If i learn otherwise, i'll change it. xD; ))
It had been a hazy day of searching for ambition and Kelasia decided to take a much needed break. Stuttering, she'd asked for directions of a passing cat. She'd been given a condescending look, followed by a disbelieving glance at her number, before the cat, a Seven, had given the needed instructions in a tone matching both of the looks she'd directed at the skunk. Without looking up, Kelasia had thanked her departing tiger-striped back and then quickly scanned around to catch her bearings. Yes, if the feline was to be believed, she truly didn't have that far to go. With a sigh of relief, Kelasia headed up the block, making a tenative right turn so she could go up three more blocks and turn left.
There! Thank the light, she recognized the silver-toned building and trotted to it with her head up and tail almost not tucked between her legs as it usually was.
Oh, joy... a library! In moments, the skunk was hurrying up the stairs to go walk among the only true friends she'd ever had.

Mnemosyne hummed lightly as she padded down the streets, offering slanted smiles to passerby who stared at her. She didn't know why it tickled her so for others to assume she was up to something--perhaps it was because most would not take something so pink and ornamental-looking for something mysterious and dangerous, and Mnemosyne liked nothing better than to keep people guessing. She was not quite certain where her journey would lead her, however. Usually when she set out to the city she had no clear goal in mind other than to amuse herself, and it was never clear what form that amusement would assume. She was not in the mood for anything in particular. So when the spotted the library, silvery and inviting against the backdrop of city life, and she decided to seize on the opportunity. Books entertained her as much as anything else, and after the bustle of the streets, the prospect of relative silence appealed to her. Humming a bit more quietly, she entered.

Kelasia browsed along the shelves, already beginning to collect books. It wasn’t a lot, not for her; she only had four books thus far and their subjects ran a bit wildly from electromagnets to two novels and a children’s book she thought looked very cute. She debated about treatise on Ranks and their unfairness, surprised to check the author and discover it was written by an Ace. She was less surprised it was by an Ace and more that an Ace was able to get published. She hrmed thoughtfully and decided to see if she could find any books on the publishing industry.
She had long ago learned how to balance a stack of books on her back by lowering her body just a bit and rolling her walk. The down side, however, was that her turn radius was completely shot. So the blue and grey skunk moved carefully down the aisle, tail extended to help her balance, and when she came to the end of the shelf, she began her turn.
She was not, however, aware of the canine who had entered after her, nor that her tail was on a direct line of collision.

Mnemosyne was absorbed in her thoughts, strolling through the library. Being surrounded by ideas--even if she never looked in the books--tended to give her ideas of her own. Usually these ideas resulted in some sort of mischief being made, and she wished not for the first time to be a higher rank than a Seven, so as to have more freedom to play her merry games, and--
And she had stopped paying attention minutes ago, apparently, because her musings were interrupted by a sharp burst of pain as she collided with something, and the crashing of books, followed by her own yip.

Kelasia swallowed her own yap of pain as her tail received the brunt of the 'attack', but her gasp of fear abruptly overrode the kink of pain. The books! The books fell! She immediately whirled, giving a subconscious whimper when a new bolt of pain shot through the tail as it smacked into the bookshelf. Nevertheless, her pale blue eyes were shuffling the floor, desperately searching for the four books she had lost.
There was one! As she nabbed one of the novels, she abruptly realized that she had originally run into -someone- not something. Her blue gaze darted up to one of the most beautiful creatures she had ever seen and she gawked without realizing it. Purple and yellow streaked down a luxurious coat of pink and Kelasia was exceedingly aware of her own drab colouring. She couldn't even begin to apologize, so struck by just how gorgeous the caqnine was.

She watched the strange, startled creature before her frantically collect books--she considered helping, seeing as she was the one pretty much responsible for the accident, but before she could move the skunk before her stopped short.
She was staring. Mnemosyne was used to that. Outside of Yarrow Gardens, her people tended to be regarded as lovely. Surrounded by her kind of people most of the time, she had been perplexed by the reaction of others, but she had gotten used to it. It even served to great advantage, occasionally.
She smiled charmingly at the gawking skunk. "Good day to you, friend. Terribly sorry about your books. I tend to get lost in my thoughts. Are you injured?"

There was another little soul in this library as well, one not quite as pretty, or feminine for that matter, as the two that had entered long after he had. He had settled himself into a quiet corner that he knew wasn't frequented often and was getting down to his research. The rat desired power, and knowledge WAS power, thus the rat gathered books that supported his plans in any was one could imagine and absorbed the information within them like a sponge often times reviewing some information just to stay on top of it. He was enjoying his peaceful studied until a bit of commotion threw him off and he lost his page. Grumbling slightly under his breath he moved away from his gathered resources and moved toward the noise and, now, a voice. Being mildly miffed as he was he left his charm down and approached the two with slightly lowered ears giving them a somewhat menacing look even if he was ranked lower then both of them. He spoke, his voice hushed with respect for the building they all presently resided in, and asked a quite obvious question. "What in the name of the Queens are you two doing?"(( Osias wants to play <3 ))

(( Yay, Osias! )) Finally, finally! The skunk began to sputter out a reply, a disclaimer of some sort, but before she could even really begin, they were interrupted. Kelasia had to be relieved, on one hand, because was well on her way to making a fool of herself. As usual. She turned her attention to the newcomer.
And out of the abyss walked a... No, no, that's not how it went. Kel's pale eyes went to the rat for only a moment before she dropped her gaze to the floor and she began to stutter again, "Oh, uh, we, it wasn't, i mean..." Her head dropped slightly as her ears flattened and her tail began to tuck.
Despite how it might have appeared initially, Kelasia was reacting to his tone and not, necessarily, his appearance. This wasn’t the first time she’d ever seen a Lowlander, but this was the closest she’d ever been to one and it was certainly the first time one had ever dared to address her, Range neutrality or not. Her mother’s imperious nature had guaranteed that no Lowlander (or many others) ever approached her without her leave.

(Hee. Hello there! The more the merrier.)
Mnemosyne was startled into momentary silence by the newcomer's words, and gathered her wits while her skunk companion sputtered. When she felt confident, she smiled brightly, to placate the interloper and, more, to perhaps settle the skunk, who looked ready to leap out of her own skin.
"My friend and I"--and here she tossed a quick nod to her quaking companion--"were just saying hello." Her smiled twisted into a light smirk. "And, if you don't mind, we're in a library, so if you would care to keep your voice down, Mr...?"

The skunk's reaction to whatever it was about him that sent her into that submissive position just tempted the meaner half of his soul and, had they been alone, he would have acted upon this and tormented the girl for a bit but her saving grace was this ornamental female whom he bit back on the growing sneer within him. It was best not to let conflicts rise to higher levels, at least not in public anyhow. Thus he merely dismissed his domineering side with a few clicks of his claws.
His rounded auditories twitched at the brighter females words, not paying much mind to the skunks mumbles and he grinned, putting a bit of that Diamond charm behind it so it didn't look as menacing as it had before.
Oh is that so? Well you're being awfully loud about it... and if you think this is loud I'm afraid you might have to have your hearing checked...
He was nearly whispering by now, although it was rather hard to REALLY whisper and still keep your tone sounding aggressive. And as to her ending question of sorts, he debated on whether or not to honor it and decided it really didn't matter and just let one word slide that should be quite obvious as a name.
