Minh titled her head to the side and wondered how long before Shinrai broke down completely. He was making quite a spectacle out of himself, actually, without Mnemosyne and herself even really putting much effort into it. She almost felt sorry for him—the poor fellow was about to snap completely—but it was more amusing that sad.
And, really; why did he keep turning the conversation back to being about them? This whole confrontation was obviously about his own deep-seated issues, and Minh couldn’t help but wonder if he’d ever thought of counseling. Minh herself didn’t put much salt in that sort of psychological hocus-pocus, but it might do him so good. Might do them all some good, because, seriously, this paranoia was entirely unwarranted. It was insulting—she’d only injected him with a little bit of a gene-altering retrovirus; it’s not like she’d trying to kill him. His continued survival was of extremely high importance to her, and for the love of the goddess could he not just chill?
Hey…
“M’not evil. Just socially stunted and continently misunderstood.”

Mnemosyne smiled comfortingly at Minh. "We know you are, darling," she assured her, and repressed the bizarre urge to put a proprietary paw on the feline's shoulder. It really was like being friends with an alien, sometimes. One of these days she was going to need to teach Minh some of the finer points of social interaction, but for now she was left to hope that spending so much time around Mnem would impart at least a little bit of social grace on her.
Not likely, but Mnem needed dreams as much as the next person.
Then she turned her attention to the canine, deciding for the moment to ignore Shinrai utterly. She had a feeling that would irk him more than a confrontation.
"We would be more than delighted to join you," she told him warmly, and she really was genuinely interested. For the moment, at least. "And dinner sounds more than lovely."

Darrien just looked at “Whip” with a strange expression. What did he mean by not nice? They both seemed like very charming women, even if one of them was a black feline. Besides how could Mnem be evil? She sure did not look evil to him, she screamed of charm and passion and as for her companion he never once thought of her as evil, maybe a bringer of bad luck but not evil. “I think you need to go lay down…your acting irrational…”[/b] was all he said to “Whip”.
The soft voice of Mnem brought his attention away from the freaked out equine and completely on her. He smiled wider this time delighted in the fact that she had taken up his offer coming with them and of dinner. “Wonderful! I’m actually looking for Hornby Lake Construction, have you seen their office around?”[/b] He hoped that they had, for once, he was at the office he would be able to pick up extra funds and off to dinner they could go. He really wanted a chance to talk to Mnem and get to know her better.

Shinrai’s eyes went wide as Darrien sent him a look that said obviously the Selkies canine thought –he- was crazy. Doit! He wasn’t crazy! These two had done… -something- to him and it had messed him up and he had no idea how to relay this information, especially since Rai still wasn’t entirely certain wot had occurred.
Frustration and anger welled up in the stallion but then he just let it go. He let out his anger with a deep, steady breath and seemed to just be normal again; remote and arrogant. A Jack of Hearts forced to interact with lessers. So be it.
”I can only hope,” he intoned darkly. ”That you take care around this… woman.” The noun was twisted, almost an outright curse. The horse had never had issue with females before, but Mnem and Minh seemed to be making their own category in the stallion’s mind.

Mnem shoved her own feelings of intense amusement to the back of her mind, and instead conjured up a deeply affronted expression. She wondered if Shinrai knew what Mnem and Minh and done to him; she sincerely doubted it. If he did, there would be a lot more anger in his voice than this entertainingly bewildered paranoia. She almost wanted to be around if he recalled it.
"Are you feeling ill?" she asked, compassionately. "Because I can't think of another reason for this sudden hostility."
She turned to the canine. She really would have to get his name, soon. She seemed to have a bad habit of not learning their identities until much farther into the relationship. "I have not seen the office," she told him carefully, "but I think, between the lot of us, we have a good chance at finding it. Then we can all take care of our business and enjoy a nice meal."

Could he take care of her, as she deserved? His thoughts drifted to Tuuli and he wondered if maybe he took a bit longer in Capital City perhaps she would find some one else to dote on. Deep down he knew that those thoughts were doubtful, but he pushed them out of his head. He was here in a different world and little mattered now except his job. “Thank you “Whip”, I will do my best to treat these ladies well.”[/b] He looked over at Mnem and smiled broadly.
His grin only grew wider when Mnem spoke and affirmed his thoughts of her not being what “Whip” claimed her to be. Little did Darrien realize that the world outside of his village was a much different. He took her at face value and it was only made worse by his newfound infatuation. His heart dropped a little at the fact that she did not know where the office was, but no matter it would just give them more time together. He smiled once again and agreed with her comment. “Yes, after we find my office where would you like to dine at?”[/b] Money again was no matter; he was always usually frugal, which left him with more money than he could usually think of uses for.

Mnem had never really gone out for dinner in the City. She went to the pub every once in a while (though she couldn't say she went there for the food, which was uniformly terrible, or even the drink, which with a few exceptions tasted mostly like rat piss to her) and she and Minh would lunch at cafes, sometimes with guests, but they usually just had dinner at home. It easier that way. They could both do their work, and there was little chance of making a scene if they didn't leave the house.
"I really do love fish," said Mnem, "and I think there's a nice little sushi place not terribly far from here. The Bluefin, I do believe? I haven't had a chance yet to dine there." Her expression turned coy. "Though I can't say I've ever had dinner with a companion whose name I didn't even know."

(( OOC: Okay. So no one is paying attention to Rocky, you didn't really bother to wait for me to make a post at any point in time. So, I'm bowing out. No reason to stay if Rocky is going to stand there and do nothing. Just being practical.))
What the hell just happened? Rocky looked at the situation unfolding in front of him. He was confused, among other things, about what had just transpired between the stallion and the other parties. So? What? Where? HUH? Who was evil?
Oh this was even too complicated for him to catch the first round. He wasn't entirely sure he wanted to deal with these two women. With the way the stallion was acting, there was reason to be concerned. It didn't seem wise of the canine to take these girls out... especially that one from the gardens. He had heard stories about them.
"Good luck, Darrien. Enjoy your dinner Ladies. And good luck finding what you need." The raccoon made a bowing motion. He had no interest in being some sort of tag along anymore. He would go off to find the firm on his own. He didn't want to deal with this for much longer. Interesting girls, but they obviously wanted nothing to do with him.
He turned to the stallion, "Thank you kindly, Whip. I hope to meet you some other time under better circumstances." Without another word the raccoon trotted down the streets of the business section.
Leave them to their own devices then.

Opps, he had forgotten to tell her his name. He was ashamed that his manners had slipped. What an impression to make towards this lovely woman. “I’m so sorry my lady, my name is Darrien, please forgive my oversight.”[/b] Did he dare tell her that her beauty was what had caused his fumble? He decided against it for now. Perhaps he would get the chance to be alone with her some time this evening. Then maybe he would express his feelings for the charming female.
“Sushi, hmm…I think that would be wonderful.”[/b] He smiled once again just for Mnem. Sushi was not uncommon in the lakes region with the abundance of fish all around them; in fact, fish was something that he ate on a regular basis. Sushi on the other hand was not something he partook in regularly though. With the hours he usually worked back home he preferred his fish cooked so it would have less of a chance to spoil.
He turned to Rocky as he said his good byes “It was a pleasure to meet you Rocky…”[/b] but before he could say anything more the raccoon was gone. Such a shame really, he had been planning to have the whole group tag along, but it seemed that “Whip” would also not be joining them for a meal. He doubted the equine would join them, and if he kept up his “the females are crazy’ bit he wasn’t sure if he wanted them to.

Minh, who had been feeling a bit adrift in the ebb and flow of conversation, perked up immediately at the mention of sushi. Though, admittedly, she preferred sashimi, sushi was a safer bet when eating out—sashimi depended entirely on the cut, and unfortunately most restaurants seemed to prefer a hack-and-slice approach. But, really, at the end of the day food was food—she wasn’t overly picky.
“A sushi joint? Around here? What are we waiting for!?”
She was practically starving—Mnemosyne had dragged her out of bed at six to go shopping for supplies, and she’d only had time for a bite of toast before she was being bodily forced out the door. Minh just didn’t have the necessary temper demanded by these long, shopping-spree endurance races and adding hunger to the mix was just adding to the misery and woe of her existence.
Shopping was not her forte, damn it—besides, that’s what girls were for.
