Sabe gave a big smile, it was exactly what he was expecting, and the colt was more interested on a childish level and the equine more on a social standpoint. But he would indulge them on a little white lie,
Well, ye can't tell anyone about this." he said as he looked around and especially at the sparrow that was still nearby, and at Drostan too. "I work for a special card named Dugat, though there is one thing that be different from him and other spies." he moved closer and spoke softly, "He be a Joker." he said attempting to get the kids wound up.
He pulled back and started to eat his fish again, then a thought came to mind, "I have told you a secret, now would ye be minding telling me what your nieces name be? Apparently that be a secret too." he said with the best disarming smile he could muster.

Normally the announcement that someone was a Joker would have brought laughs and giggles; obviously everyone knew Jokers didn't actually exist. They were legendary beings, just like Rabbits.
Except the two boys weren't laughing, they exchanged a glance with each other before turning two suspicious looks back at the heron.
Sid tilted his head as Levi took over the Joker concept, though they were both interested in the idea. "You know a Joker?" Levi asked seriously and his ears were carefully tilted backwards. He glanced around at all of the kitchen workers before lowering his voice, "Maybe you shouldn't talk about that here." And yet he thought it was just fine to talk about spying.
The colt/fawn hybrid nodded as he picked up on his youngest brother's concern. "You are a thecurity hathard!" he announced. "That muth be why Auntith doethn't tell you."
Dre gave a low laugh, relieving both boys' concerns quickly. "He's joking, of course."
"Oh." Levi sat back and turned his attention back to his food.
"Auntith Dre," Sid sent the woman an exasperated look. "You thouldn't let people joke like that. It'th not nithe."

Well the Kahmden heron didn’t expect that sort of response, they seemed to take the information quite well. His mind won’t like Sid’s, why was it easier for the kids to talk about the spying and not a Joker? That was beyond him, but he didn’t question it. He turned to the two again.
”Auntie Dre be right, I’m only joking. No harm no foul?” he asked wanting to not get on the two kids bad sides. Who knows, one of these days they might just grow up and have a new life about them, and he would have to meet with them on some future field of life. He didn’t want that to taint there shaky friendship as it is.
Turning to the messenger that he had not known her name until now, did he say with a questioning glance, ”So do we have any more stops before I be able to deliver this package?” it was a simple question and he would have liked to have it answered before they got into more trouble… or got side tracked more. He just hoped that whoever he was delivering this too didn’t mind things being late. He knew what was inside the package, it was silks and dyed silks… something that could be made into a dress or something else. Sabe didn’t want that to be late… for all he knew that queen was sitting waiting on these just so she could pick her evening dress.

Sid shook his head with a small sigh, "You thouldn't LIE about thingth like that. People get their hopeth up." He turned his attention back to his food and seemed determined to ignore the stranger now; though it was unlikely the boy would remember to remain upset.
Levi gave a small shrug at the man's question. "I guess not," he replied before swiftly devouring a dinner roll. "But only if Auntie Dre says so." Of the two children, he was probably the one who truly understood how their family relationships worked, but he had no reason to push the actuality of how it all came together. It would only confuse Sid more and no one really wanted to do that since that tended to make things difficult for everyone.
Drostan gave a low snort, but he was content to just eat for now.
Dre tilted her head at the heron. "How many more stops do you want to have?" She was just about finished eating.

Sabe released a pent up breath on Dre's answer... She made it sound as if all this was his idea... how much like women to be like that... he gave a shrug though and replied simply, "Well, hopefully none save just to the queen, unless you be having ideas of other stops?"
He turned his attention back to the colt/fawn hybrid, "What is hopes and dreams for then if you can't dream a little?" he asked as if a friend would, he was proud of his own answer because it was what he told himself every day.
He turned his attention back to Dre, "So Dre, do you say that it’s ok, for what I said?" he asked wondering what her response was going to be... completely ignoring Drostan. He was just a ace after all… nothing but the lowest card of all the regions… he was only good enough to eat scraps in Sabe’s eye, but each card of all the regions had their place in life. He couldn’t truly hate him for being born that way.

"Dreaming a little is one thing," Levi pointed out as Sid continued to eat with vigour. "But it's hardly fair to endanger someone just because you want to impress someone else."
"Wot about the thpy, Levi?" Sid asked suddenly, attention recalled abruptly. "Wouldn't it be endangering him too?"
"Spies are supposed to be able to take care of themselves," Levi replied airily. "They don't count."
"That'th not fair, though," Sid said reluctantly. "Can't Jokerth protect themthelveth?"
Levi pondered this for a very long moment, but he really wasn't entirely certain. "I guess so, but they're not expecting to have to defend themselves. That's why it's different."
"Iono," Sid said again, but he had already lost interest in the conversation. "Wot are we doing after we eat?"
Dre smiled at her uncles before turning to glance back at the man, lofting a brow at the heron as though questioning his sigh. Her words gave no indication, however, as she replied, "Words are just words, Mr. Sabe. It's your actions that determine your worth." She rose and carried her and Drostan's plates to the sink, nabbing the Ace's bowl before he had a chance to fully finish his meal. He licked his lips as she walked off, glad to have basically completed his meal before she was ready to go again.

Dre was right of course. Words were just words and actions always spoke louder. It made the heron start to think while the two kids where rambling on about things that doesn’t exist. Why was it that he had such a hard time impressing her? Why did it matter… but for some reason he just wanted to… he couldn’t explain it… and he wasn’t going to attempt to devil into it any further. He would just leave it for how it was for now.
He turned his attention back to the two kids, ”Why would someone need to protect oneself if they don’t exist? Everyone knows that Jokers are not real, just like rabbits.” he said with his adult naïveté’s. He would never truly expect that one actually existed… let alone that the both of them were real.
He looked down to his empty bowl and decided that it was indeed time to leave… or wait for Dre to figure out there next move. Though he wasn’t finished up hearing there debate… even though they seemed to have let it drop, they seemed to know a bit more with their imaginations. He wanted to hear a bit more before he took his plate and he had a few other questions for the Hearts with their high connections.

The two boys froze suddenly, looking at each other almost guiltily for a long moment before Sid answered quickly, "It'th all hypoallergenic."
Levi turned to look at the winged boy. "I don't think that's the right word, Sid."
"Oh. . . It'th hyperbole?"
Levi bit his lip thoughtfully. "Uhm. . . I don't know, but that sounds better."
Drostan pushed himself up onto his feet then gave himself a good shake. "It's a bunch of idiocy is wot it is," the Ace said darkly, then stretched and padded after the Ten who was already heading out the door, leaving the two boys to their argument at the table.
The woman didn't seem to notice whether or not the delivery man was following after her, though she assumed he would since he was so stuck on getting things delivered. Drostan trotted after her without a word.

Sabe hated it when people withheld information from him. In his job field he couldn’t work without knowing all the information that was needed, and here he found himself befuddled by two children. Even though he knew that Jokers and Rabbits where myths brought up by the Courts to keep people in line and check for reasons unknown, these two kids made him start to wonder and doubt… either that or they were pulling his tail feathers. For all Sabe knew, these two could have had a brush against a lowlander that was talking about being a Joker.
He looked to the two kids before giving a small uncomfortable laugh, at both the large words and on the subject matter. When the ace said what he said… whatever that was, did he realize that he was getting left behind. So he grabbed up his bowl and took it to the waste bin as quick as possible and placed them with the other dirty dishes, then moving back to the table to grab the queens’ package.
Before scampering off after Dre did he look to the two boys one last time before saying, ”Well… I have to run now… and I think that ye do too… Yer Dre be not here to keep ye protected from the ol’ Pirate Nanny.” he said with amusement dialed into his voice. With that he spotted the sparrow and decided that now was a good time to leave after for Dre.
When he caught up did he simply just walk at her pace waiting to hear something from behind him… well at least he gave the two warning before he left.

The boys chorused a word that might have been a curse, but was more likely along the lines of something they had made up, and they took off across the kitchen again, leaving their plate on the table and without saying an actual good-bye to either Sabe or Dre, though Sid's wings waved up in the air until it threw him off balance and he grazed the doorframe as he followed Levi out. Their nanny checked the kitchen carefully before deliberately heading after the boys again. It was fine whilst they were with their 'aunt', but she was under fairly explicit directions to never let the two boys be by themselves. Evidently, she wasn't the only one who didn't trust them.
"Are you actually from the Forest of Kahmden, Mr. Sabe?" Dierdre asked politely of the man as they began their walk back across the Palace. Drostan trotted along just behind her, for now ignoring both of the higher-ranked Cards.
