Well dosn't that just look lovely on that ace? The heron thought as he saw the annoyed look on aces face. He gave a small smile and looked to to the others and wondred what was going to happen next... he felt so out of place with all the Court Memebers... and even the Queen himself sitting but a few feet away. He gave an uneasy cough and watched them as they pawed the scarves and dyes.
"So... I was told that I was to recive payment on delviery?" he said... breaking the mood... but he wanted to get out of this pace as soon as possiable... he didn't want to come accross that made card that he had seen out in the peaways.... that would be really bad for the gental Kahmden's health.

Rai turned to stare at the heron, too surprised to be insulted just yet. Still, the gauche nature to demand money from The Queen of Hearts was astounding. The stallion didn't go out of his way to develop an angry facade, but he certainly didn't stand for blatant disrespect to either his position or his person. As it happened, however, he did not yet need to make any sort of point himself.
Dre glanced over at the man as well, surprised by the thought that the Guildmaster would do such a thing. Her eyes went to her father's face curiously, and Ira had a peculiar smile on. Drostan, spotting that, moved closer to his mistress.
"Did he really tell you that?" Ira asked in a low voice, more threatening in its calm than it could have been in anger. "Are you actually trying to force a bill upon The Queen of Hearts? Upon the most powerful Card not only in this room but arguably across all of the regions as well?" His tail twitched as though encouraging the man to say yes. He would love to show the little messenger boy just what a bad idea that was.
"Perhaps, father," the woman cut in with her own calm voice, though certainly not as intense as the King's since she was begin conciliatory. "He simply doesn't understand the etiquette of the Courts."

He was cought off guard and didn't know that his statement was would have wrought souch a repose. He didn't know how to respond, he simply didn't move nor mustered as sound. He was just told that he would pick up payment here in the court.
Though when she spoke it made seince... this was his first time to any of the courts... He so far didn't like how they came out... too much chaos and powerhungered people. Even the Queen Himself gave off that facade.
"Belay my last, I ment no disrespect." he said as he lowered his head in submission. He didn't want any trouble... expecially that which is directed twoards him. It was just usually that the people that recived the packages usually payed then and there. He just gussed that the Queen wouldn't have to do such things and other people did these small tasks for him.
He wanted to fade away at teh silent wrath that the human gave off. He knew that he was walking on very thin ice right now... and there only awaited cold deep waters below.

If anything, the King's smile grew wider and he slunk towards the heron with the movement of a predator. "Is that supposed to forgive him?" the younger stallion asked, voice still low. "'Oho, I'm an ignorant heathen and therefore you should forgive me?'" He loomed in the bird's face. "Welcome to reality," the teal horse whispered. "We're a great deal less forgiving here than your dream world."
"Enough." The Queen of Hearts spoke, voice perfectly calm and showing no emotion at all. "I'm sure you mean well, Ira, but I doubt this is the best way to make your point."
Dre's ears swivelled towards her grandfather and her eyes followed after a moment, shushed now by her father's continued hostility, but hopeful that The Queen could ease the situation. Drostan was not nearly as hopeful.
"Perhaps, Messenger, you should do a bit more research before delivering to a place that could cost you your life." The words were wry, but there was a warning edge beneath them.

At that point his his rather short life did Sabe trully understand that he would never want to join any court. For even if the Queens were like this than there was really no hope in the matter. He would never enter another court for the rest of his life, unless abosolutly having too... or if alcahol was envolved... but NOTHiNG would bring him back here.
He thought of Dre as one of the only sane people here, and she herself had one of those aloof attitudes that made him seem infearer to everything that she would say or do... This place was just crawling with those that thought themselves as higher than others. He disliked that... if he ever made queen ... he would never treat anyone like they were treating him now.
"I am sorry Your Grace. I have spoken out of turn." once the words were out of his beak did he realize that it might have been a mistake... that could have been taken so many ways than one!
He thought what all this Queen could do... it was frightning.

Ira gave a low snort, rolling his eyes at the heron. "He makes my point yet again, Mommy Dearest," said the King over his shoulder, pale eyes reading the blank mask that Rai had affixed in place. No one else could read that expression as well as the Queen's eldest son. It was something Ira saw everyday, often multiple times.
Dre cleared her throat at her father's words, trying to bring the bird's attention to his mistake. Drostan shook his head as well; it wasn't just his experience recently in the Court, even the Ace knew the proper forms of address. His family had been certain to school all of their children properly, though it was because of Drostan that they had tried so hard to not give offense to anyone, especially Face Cards.
Rai shook his head at Ira's glance, but he wasn't entirely certain he would be able to stop the King if he chose to take offense.

Sabe didn't know what to do at this point but shut his beak and say no more, he would just wait out the storm as he hoped that it would pass over sooner or later. He hoped that the tempest would cool down and disapate... else he didn't know what he would do... he knew that if he would attempt to defend himself from anything that anyone in this room would do then they would all most likely attack him at once and he would get killed on the spot.
He had heard that the Queens where very powerful and wouldn't want to stir any more trouble than he had apparently caused. He just wanted to sherk away from this place and never return and hopefull get someone else to deliver to the court of hearts. He was one hundred precent scared out of his mind and it showed.
he waite pacently. Not daring to speak or make a sound, he even turned his eyes to the floor as to not give any inclination that he was going to say or do anything execpt respond to what they would ask of him... he was but the lamb in the lions din awaiting dinner.

Ira made a sound that could only be described as disgust., baring his teeth in an overly threatening manner. There was no telling what he was about to do, because Dre swiftly cleared her throat.
"It seems that Mr. Sabe is rather. . . misinformed upon certain points of etiquette, Father. That's hardly a killing offense."
Ira's ears swivelled back towards his daughter. "You don't think so?" He sounded a bit disappointed and there was no sign of the hostility he'd been directing towards the heron just moments before.
The Highlander mix tilted her head thoughtfully. "Well, I won't say it's never worth killing over, but perhaps not this time. Surely Grandfather agrees."
Rai nodded briefly. "That is assuming he actually desires to be lifted from his ignorance."
Drostan snorted rudely, earning another glance from the Queen, but the stallion didn't comment on the Ace's lack of tact.

Sabe didn't really like the way that they talk about him, and acted as if they thought that he wasn't in the room. It was wrong... So what if he didn't know court etiquette? Was it truly his fault that he didn't grow up with a silver spoon, that they did or was intelligent enough to be here.
It would have seemed that they treated him with a little more respect than Drostan... at least they said stuff to him... but being treated as a ignorant, back water fool didn't help the poor heron. He was completely afraid and didn't know what to do or what to quite say. He seemed to be sitting there... awaiting for them to judge if he would live or die the way the talked... but at least Dre was somewhat trying to protect him from the Queens wrath. Though he wouldn't show that outright... that would just give the face cards a reason to pounce on him.
Instead of being quite and rather complacent and scared did he finally lift his head, though not his eyes, "Please forgive my lack of intelligence in this matter... I wasn't informed as Mis. Dre puts it. If you wouldn't but spare your precious time to lift me from my backwater ways of thinking, then I would be most grateful." he said trying to pick each word as he spoke, trying to not offend anyone in the room. He wasn't talking directly to anyone... but He just wanted to get away and never return. It was quite scary being in the presence of such powerful people of the world. It overwhelmed him...
If only he could have dropped of the package in the beginning, like he wanted to... and yet he was meet by the stunning Dre and her pet, to but deliver the message to The Queen himself. It would have been an honor if he hadn't been so blood thirsty.

Dre cleared her throat gently. "Most schools teach such things as titles in their basic classes. For example, a titled Jack is referred to as Excellency, but a regular Jack is not. A King is Highness, and a Queen is Majesty. They go in alphabetical order." She smiled at the heron encouragingly.
"Only the titled ones," Ira put in easily, apparently all smiles and friendliness again. "It's insulting to the rest of us if you just call everyone by our titles."
Drostan snorted under his breath again. "You'd think a delivery man would bother to learn some things before trying to make a drop off to somewhere as important as a Court."
Rai had to the bite the inside of his lip to keep from laughing at the Ace's comment, though he certainly had to admit to agreeing with that sentiment. It was, after all, what he had done before venturing anywhere near the Court of Hearts. The late Queen Serafino, however, was known to have been a bit harsher than Shinrai usually was towards those who made transgressions in his presence.
