Kazifel was happy to find out that nothing had gone terribly wrong. That was always a worry with him. He should probably learn how to get over the fear of leaving his children with other people. What would he do when they grew up and wanted to have lives of their own?
He watched as Rosemary gave a disappointed whimper when her sister stopped attack. Of course she wasn't about to give up, and went to tackle her sister, only to be distracted by the ribbon herself. It was a good thing that children were easily amused.
Getting home wasn't all that difficult once they children were still and not trying to crush the life out of the sleeping Alphones. In all honesty how did they end up with five adorable little terrors? He was still thoroughly confused by Alphonse being a vampire... but he had long chalked that up to Tulgey Weird.
"I'm going to make something special for you today, Femi, but I have to know which you would prefer: Vanilla or Chocolate?" Even if it was completely obvious what he was going to do, it was still going to be a "surprise."

Femi stared at him for a moment as he asked that question, mind doing a happy little spaz-dance. She knew exactly what he was talking about. Her arms went around his neck, ignoring the children rolling around on the floor of their room, and she nosed at the spot behind his ear as he bent to accommodate her height. "Vanilla," she whispered giddily, "Maybe with some of those fresh strawberries you picked up. That would be just delicious, love." She kissed him, mind now abuzz with the prospect of delicious sugary dessert, and then let him go so he could make good on his 'surprise'.
After he'd gone, she scooped up the sleepy, cranky Alphonse and kissed him a few times before putting him in the specially raised bed with the thick curtains. He needed it so that the others wouldn't attack him while he tried to sleep. That didn't mean they wouldn't try, of course, but she and Kazifel had puzzled over the design for a while back in the smaller house and finally came up with something that seemed to work.

Kazifel chuckled. Well that settled what cake he was going to make. It was a good thing he had all of the ingredients for icing as well. And then he would just have the cut the strawberries and make an overall nice presentation.
It didn't take all that long to make a proper cake. He just had to wait until it cooled off before he put the icing on. And by that time he could make a rather quick lunch for Femi and the children. Humming happily he walked up the stairs with the trays of food. "Lunch time," he said happily as he walked into the room.
Rosemary tried to skitter past him after she stopped gnawing on Parsley's leg. Stopping the child with his foot (only to have that gnawed on instead) Kazifel preformed his typical with the trays, he offered Femi to take one of them. "I suppose they're more than happy to see us."

They'd gone over her parents' house early enough, and it had taken long enough to bake the cake fully and let it cool, that Femi could feel her stomach telling her it was lunch time. The smells of baking and sugar and vanilla didn't help any either. The thought of the children after eating sugar was enough to make her wince, but it would be so cute to watch for a little while that it just wouldn't matter. She was stocked up enough on sleep to handle it.
Laughing, she took one of the trays from him, the one with all the cake. She gave him a cheeky grin as she did so. "I think they missed us," she agreed, smothering another giggle as Thyme decided to join her sister in burdening their father's feet with nomming. "I suppose we'd better feed them before starting in on the cake, though, or we won't get to enjoy it at all."

As adorable as children chewing on his feet were he slipped his foot out of their grasp after handing Femi one of the trays. "Feeding them would be a very good idea." He muttered as he picked up Rosemary, who then started chewing on his hand. He glanced at Thyme when he felt his foot being nommed on once again. These two were a handful together. At least their teething didn't hurt quite yet.
Lunch was always an interesting affair when it came to everyone getting their fair share. Kazifel himself barely got a chance to eat with they way all the children were gobbling down their food. He was perfectly all right with that, and normally they were willing to take a nap after they ate.
Well unless Rosemary was involved, she wasn't a nap taker. "I'm not sure if we should let Rose have any of the cake... I mean not until dinner time at least." Seeing her high on sugar was something out of a horror novel, at least that's what Kazifel was willing to bet.

Femi settled Sage on her lap, feeding the much calmer and more amenable girl tidbits as she looked thoughtful. "But Kazifel," she said finally, voice worried, "if we give her cake after dinner then she'll be feeling the sugar all night. If we give it to her now, at least I'll be awake to play with them and help tire her out a little more for bed. Don't you remember when mother sent over those pastries and we gave one to her after dinner for dessert?" The girl had been bouncing off the walls until four in the morning. Apparently she just had an over-active response to the sugar or something.
While her husband handled the two more troublesome girls, she settled Sage to the side in favor of grabbing Parsley and starting on him. Alphonse would wait until dinner for food, almost a breakfast for him, and he didn't eat cake or sandwich bites anyway.
The little squirrel-bat remained still and sleeping in his bed while Thyme chewed on the food in favor of her father's leg.

Kazifel hadn't forgotten, he just hoped that it wouldn't be as bad. "Good point." He muttered as he let Rosemary take a final bite of her lunch. Maybe they should just cut sugar out of her diet. Of course, she would pester him until she gave him what everyone else was eating.
They had to get through lunch first without incident. That would be the plan. When everything was successful with the well behaved children and the girls had finished their meals and gone back to attacking one another. He figured it would be time for a bit of food for himself and Femi.
"I sprinkled some shaved nuts on the icing. I hope you like it." Kazifel said with a smile as he picked up a small piece of his own cake. He never was one for sugary things, but he could appreciate cake with strawberries. He did a nice job this time.

By simple fact of the two troublemakers attacking Kazifel when he came in the room, Femi had an easier job of feeding her two and set them back down to play so that she could quickly nibble away at her own sandwich. She tended to take lots of small bites and swallow them quickly, which was actually pretty funny to watch. She kept glancing over at the cake while she ate it, though, and happily took a piece after he did.
"You know how much I love nuts," she said with a giggle, licking at a part of the icing before biting down on a strawberry-covered mouthful. She made happy noises that probably would have embarrassed him had anyone else been over and wrapped her tail around his waist while sitting down. "Soooo good," she said, scooping up another bit of icing on her finger and licking it happily. "I haven't had cake in months!"

Kazifel couldn't help but chuckle. His tail wagged for a moment before Femi wrapped her tail around his waist. He was always distracted by her fluffy tail when it came down to it. "Well, it's a present from me. Since everything is going well I thought I'd give you a cake. And, I'm going to try cooking something different for dinner to night just for the two of us. And I'll make something simple for the kids."
In theory it wouldn't be that messy. Then again they were children, and it would be pretty interesting to see what stayed on his and Femi's plates that night.
There was a small whine and a nip at his ankle. He almost jumped, but caught himself. He glance down to see Rosemary, giving him a rather googly eyed look. Did children have the power to seek out junk food or was it just theirs? "You'll get a piece too, just let me finish mine."

That sounded awfully promising. If Femi had been a canine like him, it would have been the point at which her tail started wagging. As it was, she gave a pleased chitter and twined her fingers in his briefly before finishing her slice of cake.
She was getting looks from some of the kids, who'd noticed that Mommy and Daddy were eating something they hadn't had yet. Thyme sniffed the air and whined hopefully, her mane falling down to obscure her pleading eyes until she tossed it back impatiently. She went to stand next to Rosemary, figuring that if they both stared, it would come sooner. Femi giggled and swiped some of the leftover icing off of her plate, finishing it with pleasure.
Then she offered a bite of cake to Rosemary, to distract her from her father, and prepared for the onslaught of energy that she knew was coming once the pup was halfway through.
