It was early in the morning, a time when the red mouse much preferred to be in bed fast asleep or sharing pleasant moments with Minh. Taking a sip from the large coffee mug in front of him, he tapped the pencil he held against the desk. He was in the back office of the Gallery-Shop hidden away from the front of the store, where all the items were actually held, though within easy access. Looking the door to his office he could watch the activities of the store itself. Asher was behind the counter currently, though no one would be able to see him besides the mouse, waiting and watching for customers, if anyone entered the store he was to notify Aderlass. They were currently short of staff their other full-timer had quit because he was heading back home. Though hopefully the problem would be shortly solved, since the new person he had hired was to arrive today. Leaning back in his chair he closed his eyes deciding to take a little nap till she arrived.

Vessatha had a job. It was a good one--and it hadn't been to hard to get, if you ignored the fact the day had just been weird in general. Aderlass seemed very nice, too, and nothing if not generous. The ferret had made sure she looked nice.. and it wasn't her fault if the fountain was a little dirty.. those things filtered, right? She'd eaten and slept somewhat decently, and was ready for a lovely day full of dealing with annoying customers. She'd worked in a bar, and nothing was worse than dealing with drunk people. She could handle anything after that. Actually, she could tolerate anything that brought money in--and if she wanted one of those apart..mints.. no.. mants? whatever, she would need money. Living in their silly excuse for a park was getting annoying. So she made her way through the city, following the directions Ader had given her, and Vessatha even managed to not get lost, which had to be a first for the poor directionally-challenged ferret. The Kahmdener was early by about ten minutes, but that was fine with her. The necessity of being on time had been (at least partially) drilled into her as a child, and now she was paranoid about being late.. so was always early. It wasn't really a bad thing, if you ignored all the time she usually ended up wasting. The ferret stopped in front of the shop and tilted her head, examining it. It was nice, and hopefully she'd like working there. A smile on her face, she pushed through the door, and went up to the counter. The store was empty, but surely someone was here..? "Aderlass? Hello?"

Asher gave a grin as a female entered the shop. Though she would not be able to see him, he still greeted her. “Good morning. I heard you would like to speak with Mr. Aderlass. Wait here I will go get him for you.” Giving a nod of his head he quickly scampered off, his three tails waving happily.
“Aderlass, you have someone here looking for you. A pink and spotted ferret.”
Stretching it took the mouse a moment to register the fox’s words. “Yes, yes. She is to be our new full-timer her, so you treat her nicely you hear. No pranks.” Receiving a nod from the lad, he continued. “Show her back here would you?”
“Yes, sir’ He made his way quickly back to where the ferret stood waiting.
“Follow me please, I will show you to his office.” The fox replied, knowing she could still not see him. He opened the part of the counter that folded upwards, letting her in, before skipping off in the direction to Aderlass’s office, humming a tune to key her in.

Startled by the sudden appearance of the fox, Vessatha took a few steps back, her eyes wide. After a moment she relaxed, and let out a short laugh at herself. "You startled me!" She commented, then moved forward toward him. "Sure, thanks."
As she waited she twiddled her paws a bit, and looked around the store. Idly she wondered how many other people worked here.. Aderlass had mentioned a few, and obviously the kid was one, but did anyone else? She was going to be working full-time, so she should be able to meet everyone.. which was a good thing, because she really needed to get to know more people in this crazy-big place.
Then Asher abruptly appeared.. and made her jump again, because she was facing away from him in order to eye an object on the counter. She grinned sheepishly, thinking she must look pretty stupid--she wasn't scared this easily, really! .. Okay, so she was. "Thanks," She said, and followed him in.

Glancing up from his desk when Asher and Vessatha entered, he smiled. “Good morning. Please, have a seat.” He waved towards a chair that sat next to his desk, along the side of it the back towards the wall. Asher stood at the door, glancing towards the shop area every now and then, waiting to see if Aderlass would need him for anything else.
He was glad to see that she had been able to clean up, not to be rude. He did not like to see anyone suffer unneeded wither they were okay with it or not. Her taking a job here was sure to help both of them out. It had been quite a day when he had first met her. A lot of interesting things seemed to happen to him on the days he was bored. He smiled at some of the memories.
“Can I interest you in some coffee or a Danish?”

"Thank you." Vessatha sat down, thankful that she actually knew how to use a chair now. It would be embarrassing to have to ask Aderlass, of all people, how to use one.. Zane was much easier. She was still learning what half the things in the city were, though, and what you could and couldn't do. Apparently walking into peoples houses wasn't accepted around here. Back home no one cared, as long as you didn't do something stupid like steal from them or something, and they usually appreciated a nice conversation in exchange.
How were you supposed to know what was a house and what wasn't, anyways? They all looked the same! It was meant to confuse her, that's what. Regardless!
Coffee? "You actually have coffee here? I've never tried it." Vessatha said in a surprised tone. Wasn't coffee really hard to get, and expensive? At least, it was in Kahmden.. "And what's a den.. den.. daneesh?"

He was more then a little shocked that she had never had coffee, or at least it appeared so from her speech. Coffee was something he made sure they had stock of; he would not be fit to be seen by their patrons otherwise. It seemed that she was lacking a little more then just money. No problem, it should be something easily fixed.
“It is a type of pastry,” he replied to her question, smiling kindly.
Turning towards Asher he said, “Go get her a cup of coffee and a Danish or two.”
Asher nodded his head in acknowledgement before skipping off to do as he was bid.
“Now, let's see . . . we should probably work out some of the smaller details, to make sure this is the job you will want to do, before I show you around the place. Feel free to ask any questions you may have at any time.” Nodding his head he turned when Asher had returned. Taking the plate and mug he placed them in front of the female nodding for her to start eating.
“Thank you, Asher. Let me know if you need me for any of the customers." He nodded at the lad before turning his attention back towards Vessatha.

Vessatha coughed lightly as he watched her, astonished. A light blush rose on her cheeks, but thankfully the color of her fur disguised that nicely. That, at least, was the benefit of being born from Kahmden--even full-body blushes were hidden from everyone but herself.
It wasn't her fault she didn't know what anything was. Someone else should try living in a forest for a few years and see what it did to their brains. It addled and scrambled and then mixed, just because it could, that's what it did.
".. Oh. Thanks.." She trailed off, and coughed again, averting her eyes temporarily. Sadly, the ferret wasn't entirely sure what a pastry was, other than something edible. Was it like a cake? She had no idea. But coffee! That was a luxury, there, and even if she'd never had it, she'd gladly drink it even if it tasted like mud.
"Honestly, any kind of work is what I want to do right now, but I'm willing to go over anything you want to. One question I do have is how long will my days be, what days, and what hours?" It was always nice to have details.. and free time.
Then the coffee and food arrived. She grabbed the mug first and hesitantly sniffed at it.. and then took a large gulp. It was heavenly. Her entire body relaxed nicely, and an expression close to blissful appeared on her face. Oh, she was getting some of this as soon as she got her home. Vessatha took one of the pastries, gently, as it looked as if it was about to fall appart.. and that was just as delicious, though in a more rich way than the coffee. She had absolutely no idea what flavor it was, other than some sort of berry.. but the sugar was a welcome addition to her body.
Ah, sugar, how we love thee..

He watched out of the corner of his eyes as she enjoyed the food that was placed before her. She really was an interesting creature, seemingly surprised and curious about anything and everything, though she did not seem to always admit it out loud. It was something he liked about her.
“Those are easily enough answered questions. I would prefer if you would be able to work from about eight until five, if you will not be able to we can arrange another set up that will work better. We currently have another full time worker employed at the moment, so I figured each of you could work every other day if you wished. You two can work out your scheduling of which days you would like, it’s okay with me, if say, one of you decides to work three days straight and the other the other three straight, since we are opened six out of the seven days during the week. Or if you each chose days you would always like to work. Just let me know if you two ever have any problems with any of the schedules, I understand that things come up.”
He paused to let her digest all the information as well, taking a sip from his coffee.
“As for pay, I figured that we could probably start off with ten gold an hour, for your pay. It will go up of course with time and if I see you are doing an extra find job here at the shop.”

Vessatha continued absently chewing on her danish as Aderlass began to talk, and interjected where she felt a comment was necessary. "Eight to five is fine," She said. It wasn't as if she had anything else going on, afterall, aside from being stalked. That, at least, took up Quinn's time, and not her own.
"It doesn't matter to me what days I work, I can work it out with them. What's their name, by the way?" Vessatha hadn't seen anybody but Asher--who she had a feeling he wasn't talking about--so figured it was just their day off, or they hadn't come in yet.
As Aderlass told her her pay, Vessa could only stare. Ten an hour? Was he nuts, or was that simply how much they paid in the city? She made four an hour at the bar, when they even remembered to pay her.. though one would hope Aderlass would be timely about that. "Ten is wonderful, thank you," She managed to get out after a few moments.
Ten would get her that apart..whatever.. very quickly.
