Mnem knew bugger-all about the interior of Corvistowne, but she could get them to the region, at least. She had a working knowledge of geography. And she could remember gossping maids pointing to the distance and whispering something about madhouses and lunatics and thank god that filth rarely comes here, I bet they marry men there.
"We take the south-east path out of the city," she said. "We'll skirt around the Court of Spades and sneak our way into Corvistowne. Be prepared for anything."
She didn't know what kind of boundaries the region would have. She imagined the borders lined with mines and mad-scientiest super-soldiers springing out of the ground to blow them up again. But that mental image was not particularly helpful, unless one were doing a case study on paranoia. So she kept it to herself.

It was something different to travel with Mnem. Nothing bad, but she definately had something of a feeling for it.
Hearing her plan for their journey he gave a nod of his head, agreeing with the plan. "That sounds like the most reasonable thing to do." Not that he would have been able to come up with a better plan himself. No, that he was going to leave completely to her unless something came up.
Goodness he hoped that nothing to cause that would come up. He also had never been to the Corvistowne realm, having only grown up in Morganberry and then later in life taveling to the Capital where he had met all of them. It as strange to think back on sometimes. A lot of things had changed in life in such a short while.
Be ready for anything, huh? It was looking to be an adventure.

The path out of the City was really nothing terribly remarkable--not particularly well-maintained but well-worn from travel to the Court of Spades and nearby realms, and passing fair as far as scenery went. There were a lot of trees. There were a couple of travelers that Mnem had no real interest in talking to, though some of them tried to engage her and Aderlass. She was politely curt and dismissive. They didn't need to know her business, and she didn't want to know theirs.
They walked away the day--Mnem did not allow for any real breaks and they would only sleep when it got too dark to travel safely. Perhaps that was a bit militant, but hey, what can you do when hunting down stolen botanical beauty.
When she finally decided it was perhaps time to stop traveling for the day, she heard the commotion for up ahead. A small band of wagons, it looked like, pulled by horses. What they carried, Mnem could not imagine. But the Cards driving them were clearly irate about something.
She dearly hoped they would shut up in time for her to get some rest.

He had never been so worn out in a day before.
Okay well that was a lie, he had had a day like this before but that had been a long day out. He was slightly out of shape and welcomed any stops that Mnem allowed with open arms.
When fellow travellers tried to make conversation with them he was less curt then Mnem, allowing for simple chatter then he - like Mnem - kept their actual plans to himself.
"Well that was a day" He sighed, leaning against a log, propping his feet up in hopes to allivate the soreness that seemed to consume them. Hearing the commtion as well he gave a groan. "Do you think they will quiet down any time soon?" He nearly growled. He was tired, exhausted, and had the startings of a foul mood, and was not going to put up with other people being inconsiderate.

"If not, we can always make them," she said cheerfully. They were putting her in an excellent mood to deal out a nice little dose of intense pain and agony. She gave them half an hour. This, she felt, was more than generous. Then she would start ripping out spines.
But then they got louder. Mnem's plans for patience went straight out the window--as they typically did. If these people insisted on being irritating, she was just going to have to deal with them. They had forced her hand, as far as she was concerned. If a couple of them ended up with broken faces, well--it was nothing less than what they deserved.
"Hmm," she said, looking thoughtfully at the party up ahead and then to Aderlass. Her small was small and more than a little mean. "Do you want to see what all the fuss is about?"

Forcing them to silence sounded like a very good plan to him. Especially when they unknowingly stepped over the time that the two of them had given for their noise. What in all the Realms could be allowing them to cause such noise. He was sure it had to have been illegal. If he was ever in a place of authority there would be an hour of silence, from sunset to sunrise. That would solve this problem.
"Yes, I would have to agree, I think they are in long need of some more company." Pulling himself to his feet he offered out his hand to her. The smile that graced his own face would not be that many steps up in friendliness.
Once they were both on their feet he motioned for her to lead the way. "Ladies first" He said with a small mock bow, though no insult was meant toward her. It was all toward the fun that looked to be in front of them.

It was a band of men, sure enough--not drunk, by the looks of it, but a combination of slight tipsiness and a lot of innate mean-spirit. They were yelling at some kid, a Club feline with bloodshot eyes and a body coiled and shaking with distress and a state Mnem, with her years of experience, could immediately identify as "completely high." The men were pushing the kid back and forth between them, a light attempt at roughing him up, and they were on about money. Mnem didn't need to guess what-for.
"I paid, man!" the Club moaned.
"Rate went up, kid. By fifteen percent. You got the merchandise, and now you're going to pay the rest of the price."
The kid kicked and flailed in a jerky, ineffective go at freeing himself. Mnem didn't feel sorry for the kid, quite--he had gotten the goods, as it were, of his own accord, no matter what had led him up to that point. But while Mnem was no stranger to unfair dealings, this was just a bit ridiculous. Shady transactions she could live with; this kind of mindless thuggery was an insult.
"Watch it, you low-ranked piece of shit," one of them growled at the thrashing brat.
Mnem sighed. Better get started on freeing the kid and ridding herself of a terrible sleep-killing nuisance.

Coming to the outer edge of the camp he caught the ends of their conversation. What in all the realms was going on here? Finally he caught sight of the Club being pushed around in the center of the crowd. When he managed to get a full view of the kid his eyes narrowed dangerously. Though he was not completely schooled in the drug world, thanks to his 'caring' mother, he was well aware of side effects.
Taking it all in he could feel his temper rise, this was not going to be a nice interaction. He would definitely make sure that these guys regretted keeping him up.
Without a word to Mnem he started toward the group, his pace sure and steady. "I am afraid that you will have to pardon me for interrupting all your fun." He greeted when he had gotten close enough that he would not have to outright yell.

The men turned to Aderlass with sneering expressions. None of them seemed to appreciate the intrusion, and all of them took aggressive stances immediately. They were ready for a confrontation, and they expected it to be over quickly.
"Back off, rat," one of them said. He had his hand knotted into the back of the kid's neck, holding the cowering thing in place. "Take the bitch with you. We're workin' out a business matter here."
"Didn't your mother ever tell you it was impolite to interrupt?" said another, smiling crooked and mean. The rest of the party laughed. The kid let out a low whine.
Mnem rolled her eyes. She was going to let Aderlass take care of them; judging by what they had just said, he would probably want to do the honors. She was content to kick back and watch a few idiots get their arses handed to them.
