The mouse gave a coo and bounce of interest when Vishne suggested that they go look for seashells. From all that she had read about them they were suppose to be really pretty and when they were grounded to a fine powder were rumored to have healing properties.
She gave a small pout, however, when Venka decided that she was not going to participate in their seashell hunting. Her sister always seemed to tease them and taunt them about things, such as Iphis’ with his tea parties and now this. Papa said it was because she wanted to either join in their fun but was not willing to say so, or she was too much like Mommy Mnem and really did not care.
Watching Ven go sit under the tree she turned her attention to the other two. “Alright! Let’s go take a look and see wot we can find.” The mouse said in a cheerful tone before she trotted off leading the way to the shore.

Seashells? They wanted to go find seashells?
The canine-equine mix scoffed at her brother. “Why would there be sea-shells here? You only read that in a book, therefore sea-shells do not exist.”
What would be the interest in a shell anyway? They were just like stones, nothing more to them but pretty looks and what good would that do anyone?
Ignoring her siblings and their friends she went over to where there was shade from a tree and plopped herself down below it, content to just watch the others in their frail attempts. After a few more moments she laid down preparing herself for a nice nap if nothing interesting happened.
While she thought that searching for seashells was pointless and a waste of time she was secretly hoping that her brother would share his findings with her, maybe giving her one to keep. Just because she did not seem interested did not mean she was not.

Vishne stuck his tongue out at his sister as she wandered off to go lay down, thus defeating the whole purpose of being at the lake! Ah, well, it wasn't his problem. Well, actually, it probably was still his problem. Any issue that Venka had would eventually be his problem as well; she would make certain of that. The boy sighed and headed down towards the water without saying anything to his twin. She could be so annoying sometimes.
Still, as they approached the lake's edge, he forgot his frustration and it shifted instead to excitement. "Lookit, Kare, lookit!" He waggled a paw excitedly at the waves. "Do you like to swim?" The question had an equal amount of excitement, though the Yarrow Gardens male wasn't actually waiting for her answer. The blue canine raced on ahead of her, leaving the fox to stare bemusedly after him.

The purple fox sent Venka a long, thoughtful, and vaguely disapproving glance, before walking on past the Yarrow Gardens female without, well, without a word. Elyse didn't seem anymore pleased by Venka's little hissy fit, either and it seemed like Vishne was rather hurt by the girl's words. The little equine hybrid was just a little kill-joy and the fox was going to ignore her for now.
So when Vishne excitedly called to her, Kare obediently moved after him, though she certainly wasn't going to run as he had. Even the mouse seemed excited, and pink eyes followed Elyse's progress as a small smile touched her features. This was, thus far, one of the most fun things she'd done.
Violet paws moved carefully down the path, following after the other two kids. She came up to the water's edge next to where Vishne was playing in the waves.

Racing ahead of V and Kare, the female stoped every now and then to paw over a pretty rock or shell in hopes of finding a seashell. She had only seen small sketches of them in her books she was not quite sure what she was looking for. Picking up various items she shook her head when she discovered that they were not seashells.
As she bent down to look at one of the stones that had caught her attention, a splash from V reaching the water’s edge caught her off guard. Dropping the stone she had been looking at she gave a squeak before jumping away from the water. She gave V a disappointed look, though it was a playful one.
Seeing Kare standing at the waters edge she made her way to sit besides her, careful to remain out of the water’s target. It was not that she did not mind water, but rather she preferred to remain dry for the moment, at least.

It was a lovely day to lay in the shade, regardless of what the others might have thought. Closing her eyes she started to fall into a light nap.
After a few moments she shifted her position, rolling onto her side she gave a deep sigh. When Elyse gave a high squeak she peeked out of one eye before shrugging it off, seeing that it was nothing more then the female being a wuss, and settled into a more comfortable position.
She was not sure why Daddy brought them out the Marsh to do the ‘training’, though it did spark ideas. Maybe V and herself should go out wondering in the Marsh one day. It was too crowded in their house anyway, so she doubted they would be missed. Mommy would probably applaud them and say that it was another Quest and Daddy was probably going to be proud once they made it back.
Plotting out her plans she continued to lay under the three ignoring the other three.

He liked the water, but he made sure to keep to the shallow parts, lest he be pulled out into the middle of the small lake and drown or be gobbled up by lake monsters or sucked into another dimension by some magical whirlpool. Though perhaps another dimension would be preferable. Maybe people in other dimensions were nice.
He enjoyed about twelve seconds of gleeful, carefree frolicking before he stepped on something extremely sharp and unpleasant. He shrieked, hopped away, kicked at whatever he had stepped on, shrieked again, and burst into tears. Damn it, that hurt! And it was probably infected with all sorts of awful lake germs that would take over his body and cripple him before bringing out grim death.
It was terribly pretty, though, that bit of deep purple crystal. He stopped crying abruptly, and picked it up. He held it up triumphantly. "Look what I found!"

When Vishne went into his panicked, tearful mode, Kare was at a bit of a loss as to how she should respond; after all, she wasn't certain wot exactly had happened, where he was hurt, if at all, and she certainly didn't know anything about medicine if he was. So the violet-coloured fox simply came close to hover uncertainly and worriedly by his side as he kicked at wotever it was that had hurt him. This didn't seem like the best response to her; one would assume that it hurt his foot and then kicking it with a foot seemed unwise. Evidently it didn't make much of a difference, however, as V was just as swiftly distracted from his pain by wotever it was that had injured him.
Pink eyes blinked curiously at the deep purple stone and she sent him an impressed glance for finding it. Even if he had found it in his foot.

One moment they were all enjoying the happy antics of Vishne from the safety of the shore and then the next moment Vishne was crying out in pain. Though she knew that Vishne often blew things up to a bigger deal then they really were, but any outcry of pain always caught her attention.
“V! Is everything okay? Are you alright?” She called out a little concerned by his crying and thrashing about. And then suddenly he was bending down and pulling the item from the lake, holding it up proudly, she tilted her head to the side in question.
“Oh that is very pretty.” She cooed once she had gotten a good look at what it was that Vishne held in his paws. It was very pretty, that was for sure. Walking closer to the edge she waited for him to come near so they could get a closer look at it.
