Eir's ears flattened dangerously against his skull even as his teeth bared, large and white in blatant amusement mixed with a threatening challenge. Se's whimpering and thrashing didn't distract him from staring at his eldest brother. "Oh, ho, Ira," the pink and purple equine answered in a hard tone of voice. "That was really funny. For a moment it sounded like you actually thought I'd do wot you told me to."
He rose and began to stalk slowly towards his genetically-similar brother. He didn't know and didn't care why they were the only two of their family who craved the flesh of intelligent creatures, but he did know that Ira was very careful just who ended up on his plate and who did not. "They're all just mindless cattle," the Gardens male said in a cajoling tone. "They're not worth anything." He glanced towards their sleeping brother and spat at the yellow fur. "He's not worth anything."

The cloaked figure stepped closer, and Se could hear the heavy echo of a hoof-fall yet again. It was like the distant droning of a funeral bell; the sound was a dirge to the living and Se felt fear thrill a chill up his spine yet again. He swiftly backed up a few steps. "Who are you?" his voice cracked in his fear as his tail tucked tightly between his hindlegs.
"Perseus." The figure stretched out a limb, hidden beneath the heavy cloak.
"Who are you?" the boy screamed his question again, fighting a need to turn tail and run, trying desperately to make himself stand and face this terrible fear.
"Perseus."
"My name is SE!" he yelled back, wanting to make the calm, monotone in the figure's voice to go away. He wanted some sign that it was alive.
A breeze swept across them, blowing the sleeve of the cloak back and Se's breath caught in his throat.

Ira moved in a flash, the lean, teal body slamming into the dark pink of his brother. His eyes were distant and cold as he pummeled the other colt with different-coloured hooves, his nostrils flared as he attacked over and over again with a predator's speed.
The eldest of all of Shinrai's children was equally unaware of where exactly their strange heritage had come from, though, to him, it seemed just as likely to have been a gift from the darling Daddy as anywhere else; regardless of Mommy dear's occasional muttered complaints about genetic experiments.
Nevertheless, he would not just sit and put up with Eir's blatant disregard of his authority; Ira rarely held his age over his siblings' heads, especially not since Eir had been born a higher rank than him. Still, he was the eldest and when he made a decision, he expected it to be obeyed by all of his siblings.

The attack was a surprise, and Eir didn't immediately register what was happening until it was already too late to dodge. Despite his time 'training' out on the streets and in the woods, despite his superiour rank and abilities, the Yarrow Gardens male was not immediately able to throw off his eldest sibling.
It took a few moments, and the receiving of one rather hard knock to the head, before Eir could really get his feet under him to return Ira's favour. With an ugly snarl that was more feral than anything else, Eir leapt at his eldest brother and tried to get a neck hold on the blue-green colt. Ira was proving strangely elusive, however, and Eir found himself just as often on the defensive as the offensive.
So much for the eldest boy being completely defenseless! Where in the world had Ira learned to fight like this?

The world was shades of grey except the bright slash of bubbling crimson that poured non-stop from the severed throat of one particularly black doe. He had a scream building, a scream of rage and denial, but no sound would come out. IT wasn't possible, it wasn't logical, it wasn't real; it couldn't be real.
Shaking his head desperately, the yellow hybrid backed swiftly away from the apparition. He turned only to run into the solid mass of muscle as Xylia's sightless eyes stared out from the still bleeding slash.
"Who are you?" he screamed again, backing up with is eyes locked desperately at the covered form.
The bone hand tossed out the head in a careless gesture, and Se made a sound in the back of his throat, some strange mixture of a scream and anger. Bone hand. . . no, it couldn't be. It reached for the hood.

Eir was clumsy in his dodging, though he still managed to score a few solid blows against Ira's prepared body. Very deliberately, however, Ira continue to beat down his brother, each blow finding some sort of mark, though they weren't all show stoppers. He didn't need them to be; all he needed to do was wear Eir down.
Confusion and further rage showed blatantly in Eir's lavender eyes, but Ira just pushed in faster and harder, forcing the pink and purple colt to really work on his defenses. The other boy barely had time to even attack anymore, and his blows became more and more erratic as anger and frustration began to eat at his control.
Ira gave a small, purely mental nod; Eir had too long been hunting those who could not or would not fight back. He'd forgotten how to truly hunt and kill.

Rage was hazing his eyes over with blood and Eir didn't even really notice when his mind stopped controlling his actions and he was just blindly throwing himself at his eldest brother in outright need to rip the older colt limb from limb. He could not, however, get in close enough to do so and that just made him even more frustrated and angry.
Giving a strangle cry, Eir slammed into Ira in a last ditch attempt to take the lithe, teal body down so he could rip out the equine throat. Everything hit slow motion like a brick wall.
As his pink and purple form flew at the teal one, he felt the initial touch, and he knew he had Ira now. But as Eir flew forward out of control, Ira's body was sliding off to the side, leaving Eir's to fend for itself. Instead of his brother, he slammed into the wall and his head did the same.

Se screamed, desperation wringing sheer panic and fear from his throat. He couldn't look away, couldn't close his eyes and his brain overloaded before he shifted the dream, unwilling to face this, unable to deal with it.
The hooded figure rippled, slipping a familiar yellow face away to bring forth a green one instead. Se hissed at the sighto f his father's face, latching onto it again as the cause of everything bad.
"Why did you kill her?" he snarled, tail tucking between his legs, feeling too small and too helpless to do anything.
"She had to die," Shinrai's voice held an odd, echo-y tone to it. His face turned yellow, but Se savagely twisted it back to green. "You all have to die."
Something like lightning arced from the bone fingers, and Se whimpered as he recoiled from it. But the screams that rend the air were not his.

Ira watched emotionlessly as Eir's whole body slammed into the wall, causing the room to shake. The other colt's head cracked against the wood and the teal horse stepped daintily forward as different coloured hooves tapped him right up to his younger brother's dazed form. Ira tsked lightly at the heavier-set equine.
"Aw, that's too bad, Eir. I guess you don't know your own strength." His lavender eyes hardened as he stared unfeelingly down at Eir. "Perhaps you should trust a little bit more in my judgment, hrms?"
He turned his back on his brother, anticipating the heavy footfalls that rushed up the stairs. The doctor flew back into the room, eyes frantic before he caught sight of the downed colt and the equine standing over him. "Wot happened?" the man gasped beginning to move towards Eir.
Ira gave a small, quick shake of his head. "He's fine. Tripped."

Eir bared his teeth at his eldest brother, but his body refused to work with him, the foul, cursed thing. When he got up, he was so going to kill Ira; he would start with that thrice *#($ed tongue and smug mouth and slowly work his way down. He was going to make Ira regret ever being born, much less being such a smart*## about everything.
The doctor rushed in, but even he had the good sense to stay away, especially when Eir initially snarled at his interruption. At Ira's words, however, Eir swiftly slipped into his acceptable social mask and gave another baring of his teeth that might-- in the right light and imbued heavily with alcohol-- look like a smile. "Silly. Me. I seemed to have. Tripped." He could barely keep the rage from shaking his voice.
The doctor hesitated, but his attention was grabbed again when Se gave a low cry. Shuffling the pair of conscious boys to a "Not in Danger" category, he returned to the hybrid's side.
