A growing paranoid had attached itself to the young man's feet and now a shadow seemed to follow him constantly. His front paws touched the ground lightly as hind hooves knocked a staccato of feeling against the paved street. He didn't know where he was; he'd stopped paying attention as soon as he left the house. His father hated it when he did this, but that was all right. His father might be dead. No... No, he wasn't dead. Not yet. That would change. Oh, yes, that was going to change. Not today! He reminded himself sharply. Later on. When he was ready. He was going to rock this whole world and then they'd see who was the bottom of the totem pole. He wasn't going to wait for them to recognize him; he was going to force them to. Somehow. Someday.

Normally when Se snuck out of the house, Iraishin would find a way to follow suit. Today, however, that particular equine was busy and distracted and a different equine decided it was time to find out wot the youngest brother had been up to. Eir didn't normally bother with his other siblings. Hadyn was fine, though growing strange as he aged. Ira was retarded but at least trustworthy. None of the others were even worth mentioning. But lately Se had been acting very oddly. Screaming himself awake at night, acting more morose than usual. And Eir was determined to find out wot was at the bottom of this, even if it meant briefly enduring a boring day of following his youngest sibling around. Which, so far, it looked like was going to be the schedule. Stupid Sese. The retarded little hybrid needed to get a life.

Se could barely remember the little rock he had once been so terribly attached to and now he didn't even think of it unless Xylia mentioned it. As far as he knew, only Xylia, Ira, and himself were aware of the ebony piece of stone and Ira had only checked once to see if he still had it. As soon as it was gone, Ira had stopped caring. Membrane wings rustled uneasily along his fur-lined back and Se wished Xylia was around today. She seemed to be the only one who didn't make him feel more nervous. Well, actually, Ira helped with the nervousness and paranoia as well, but Se was fairly certain that was based entirely upon the equine's ability to get on his nerves.
Stupid Ira. Stupid family.
But the dreams were getting worse and last night he'd watched Xylia die. A shudder ran up and down his hide. He never wanted to see that again, but he doubted that this particular wish could come true. Every night was filled with terrors and they were slowly growing worse and worse. The hybrid was at a loss for wot he should do.

Eir gave an annoyed snort as Se continued to wander the streets, evidently oblivious to everyone and everything around him. Where was the fun in this? The Yarrow Gardens cannibalistic male debated about just finding someone to rip into, but... *#%& it all!
He wanted to know wot was so terrible that little baby Se would wake up screaming like someone was eating him. Heh. Those screams were so nice. That frantic edge, the panic in the eyes as the little furry creature finally realized that they were being -eaten-. People seemed so offended by it; like being eaten was far worse than simply being killed or mauled. Stupid little Cards. They should appreciate the fact that they were going to a Greater Cause; something larger and far more important than their own puny, ridiculous little lives.
Where the *#$$ was Se going?! The colt growled under his breath, pawing briefly at the street with gold-tinged yellow hooves. If the baby hybrid was wasting his time, he was going to kill him.
And NOT eat him; HA.

Mixed feet continued their distracted path through the street, still unaware of his stalker. Perhaps he should seek out the doe? Make sure she really was okay? This thought perked him up slightly, and his head came up to take bearing of his surroundings.
Of course, the problem was that he wasn't entirely certain where she would be right now. It wasn't anywhere near nighttime, though, so at least she wouldn't be invisible to him. The other problem, the boy just realized, was that he didn't exactly know where he was at. Yellow ears flattened against his head and he paused in the street, wondering if he should try to backtrack or if that would simply get him more lost.
Despite all of his father's and El's efforts, Se still had a pretty lousy sense of direction. They stopped sending him out on forays into the Marsh because he notoriously got lost. Blast it all.

When Se stopped so suddenly, Eir instinctively slunk off to the side, making sure that his brother's view of him was obscured by a man's apple cart. His own lavender-toned eyes kept close watch on the baby of their family, especially when the yellow ears tilted backwards. Chances were high, however, that the stupid little runt was just lost. Se was notoriously retarded at their wildlife exercises; unlike him. Eir was probably the most talented of all the children out in the wilds of Outside the Capital City.
It wasn't through any deep set desire for parental affirmation, however; Eir just wanted to be good at sneaking up on people. He was understandably proud of himself for being excellent at just that.
Suddenly spying a Torquehelm boy staring longingly at the apples near him, Eir abruptly, yet brilliantly, came up with an idea. With a snort of amusement, the colt approached the feline quickly.

Still uncertain of how to go about getting un-lost, after all, you were supposed to remain in one place and wait to found, Se had almost decided to try backtracking when he had a sudden and unpleasant surprise.
Out of nowhere, something leap onto his back and sunk claws through his yellow fur with a loud, dark hiss. Se's head threw up into the air like his nose was on fire and he gave a snort of terror and shock. Wings flared out and he reacted; Se bucked and reared like some sort of wild bronco, his purple hooves smashing into the ground every few seconds with a heavy force before they flew back up into the air.
He vaguely heard screaming in the background and his mind flashed to his recent nightmares, sending the boy into a further frenzy of panic. The claws dug deeper into his back and he continued his crazy movements to dislodge his unwanted passenger.

Oh, ho, ho!!! This was even better than he had expected!!!! Eir fought the need to laugh hysterically as his littlest brother not only fell for the attack completely, but went into utter and total panic when the little kitty jumped onto his back. Hahaaa! For the promise of a few apples-- a promise he had no intention of keeping; thanks, Mom, for teaching him that particular trick-- the Torquehelmian had willingly gone to scare the hybrid out in the street.
Just for this brilliant performance, Eir would not eat the kid. Oh, man, this was just too good! He watched as the crowds parted for the wildly gyrating boy, trying to avoid being kicked by the purple hooves. It was met with little success, however, as Se's panic sent him flying around in his constant efforts to shake off his unknown assailant-rider. Eir felt tears coming to his eyes and he continued to snerk and chortle at his sibling.

After a few minutes of frantic bucking and running about, Se became aware of a running chant.
"Let me off, let me off, let me off, let me off, let me off, let me off, let me off--"
It took, however, a good thirty seconds before this really sunk in. That was certainly not the chant going through his head, so he slid to a suddenly tired halt. Springing from his back like a flea, he caught a glimpse of a black form tearing away in it's own panic. His ears flattened dangerously, especially when he realized that he was not only being watched, but stared at by the people on the street. He gave a sudden growl, baring his teeth at those who sought to be curious.
Accompanied by his strange, pupilless green eyes, Se swiftly found himself bare of all witnesses. Save one. The growl deepened in his chest and he stalked over to his brother. "Wot are you doing here?"

Eir bared his teeth right back at the baby and gave a low, cold laugh. "Wot's it to you, Sese? Nice... riding back there. I think he made it the full eight seconds. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new champeen."
Oh, ho! The little boy looked angry. Eir gave another laugh, stretching slightly before circling his youngest sibling slowly. Se didn't turn to watch him, but those big ears kept facing towards the other boy, twisting suddenly around when Eir got behind the hybrid. Eir lunged forward suddenly, yellow hooves thumping the ground near Se's feet. The hybrid jumped a little, before tensely turning his head to glare at his brother.
Eir laughed again before suddenly deciding to answer the question. "I was out for a walk, baby." He pulled a small pouting face at the winged mix. "Poor baby, can't even mope right. Something always happens to you, huh, Sese?"
