Everyone was screaming, bodies piled across the streets as Shinrai methodically and with purpose slaughtered everyone he met. People Se didn't know, those he did, those he loved. And he could do nothing more than sit and cower in the corner; he couldn't make himself face his father. He couldn't do it!
It didn't matter how far Shinrai went, Se was always huddling a short distance away, in a small, fetal positioned ball of quivering yellow fur. He couldn't escape, he couldn't get away, all he could hear were screams and screams and. . . voices?
Voices flowed in the distant, familiar and unfamiliar. Fuzzy words danced at the edge of his consciousness and, with a gasp like one just saved from drowning, Se forced his way up and out of the dream to find a stranger standing over him and trying to argue with Ira. He blinked in dazed confusion.

"Don't touch him," Ira warned flatly, his dark ears going backwards in an obvious threat.
"He needs help," the doctor began to insist, but his words trailed off as he saw the patient sit up rather groggily on his own. He turned to stare authoritatively at the young man; he was, after all, an adult, and this colt was still only just into the verges of teenagehood. He could easily overwhelm the boy-- or so he told himself-- but he didn't want to chance scaring the children.
He would not, however, think about the strange looks the two horse boys sent to each other, nor their odd behaviours, nor the hybrid's frightening screams, nor the unusual physical aspects of all three of the kids.
Ira sent that strange, toothy grin back at the doctor again. "He needs to be left alone." The warning was more blatant this time. "We will take care of him."

Eir harrumphed under his breath, finally drawing his legs back beneath him. "I say you let Se have him," the young man said flatly. He hurt and this displeased him terribly. He shot Ira a dark, angry look that his eldest sibling either ignored completely or simply did not notice at all. Neither of the lack of reactions helped his injured pride. He growled under his breath, the sound feral and very non-horse-like.
The doctor jerked, and stared uneasily at the Yarrow Gardens equine, but Eir simply picked himself back up and stalked silently to one side of Ira, turning his own pale eyes onto the older Card.
The doctor found himself surrounded by three unforgiving stares and he knew his knees must be knocking together as he felt his heart race in the face of such undisguised hate and hostility. Yet none of the three seemed to be purposefully putting off the feelings.

Se didn't really have any idea was going on, but any time two of his most argumentative siblings sided together, it seemed incredibly important that he stand with them. He couldn't fully shake his nightmare, though, and another shudder trembled down his body. He could still see his father killing his siblings. Whenever his eyes closed, he saw the stallion eviscerating Helena. Not Xylia. Oh, light, please light, not Xylia. He could deal with almost anything, but not Xylia. She couldn't be dead. His body twitched again.
"Did. . . did anyone die?" The question came out hesitantly; he didn't dare ask specifically after Xylia. No one knew about the girl except Shinrai and he was determined to keep it that way and if there was any way he could make that man forget about the doe, he would do it in a heartbeat. Still, he had to know.

Ira flicked an ear towards their youngest sibling, though his eyes never left the adult whose expression had taken on a degree of horror at the yellow hybrid's question. The eldest there, however, wasn't in the least bit phased; this wasn't the first time Se had asked him something like this, especially not right after waking up. It was yet another reason Ira found the episodes so interesting.
"No, Se, no one has died." He smiled cheerfully at the doctor. "Not yet, at least." His head tilted to one side. "Of course, we're more than willing to help the good doctor with this 'not being dead' problem of his. You know, if he wanted us to."
The Card coughed and retreated back a step. "No, it's not like that. I just need to be certain the patient is okay. . ."
Ira smiled toothily yet again.

Eir's ears flattened when the doctor retreated yet another step. "Does this mean we don't get to eat him?" he asked flatly, eyeing the man's bulk thoughtfully. There was quick a bit of paunch in there, but it might be all right anyway. They could probably get around the large amount of fat if they chewed carefully.
Evidently that was the straw that broke the camel's back; the adult seemed to read what Eir was thinking in his gaze. With a noise of distress, the Card bolted from the room, leaving the three boys along. Eir snorted in disgust.
"Wot a pansy," the Yarrows boy said flatly, ears going back one last time before he turned towards the eldest. "Now wot, brilliant? He's going to get the cops or something." Personal experience was coming out now. He'd had the cops called on him quite a few times for just being himself.

Se shook his head again, trying to figure out what exactly was going on. He couldn't really remember what had happened or why he was here, and he wasn't certain if he trusted his brothers to tell him the truth about the circumstances surrounding it. But his head hurt. And he had the distinct feeling that he was ticked off at Eir for something.
"Let's just get out of here," Se said flatly. It wasn't that he necessarily wanted to agree with Eir, especially not since he was fairly certain that he was angry at that brother. His tail swished unhappily and he pushed himself off the bed. The world swayed dangerously and he quickly had to spread his legs to try and keep his balance. Oh, man, his head was absolutely pounding now. Blast it all. He tried to move towards the door, but it wasn't working very well alone.

Ira ignored the other cannibalistic boy for now, ears tilting towards Se and cataloging what he saw in the their youngest sibling. Se almost definitely had a concussion, and it seemed to still be affecting him. Ira's dark tail flicked from one side to the next thoughtfully then he moved over to his injured brother.
Ira slid under Se's left wing, causing the boy to flinch suddenly. Ira took a moment of pity on his brother and licked the yellow cheek. "Come on, let's get out of here." He said this as though it was entirely his idea and that neither of the other two boys had just said that they were ready to go.
He helped support Se's weight and began to walk with his youngest brother towards their exit. "Eir, open the door." He ordered their other sibling almost absently, obviously not expecting any resistance.

Eir snarled at his brothers, very nearly telling them to shove it up their tails, but. . . Survival demanded that they get out of there before the cops came. "Fine," the colt groused. "But that's it."
He stalked to the door and jerked it open. The pink and purple colt instinctively scanned the hallway, making sure that they were clear and alone. It was clear, with no sign of the doctor or anyone else, for that matter.
"It's clear," his voice was gruff as he slunk out into the hallway and quickly began doing reconnaissance, almost as though they were pulling an injured comrade out of a war zone. He could hear Se's hooves behind him louder than Ira's even though Ira was dealing with four rather than just two like Se. The little #*(% was so worthless. Ira was definitely wasting his time on the brat.

Se wanted to pull away from Ira and walk on his own, but he could barely stay up on his own, much less move. His head hurt so bad. He didn't realize that he was leaning as heavily against Ira as he actually was, but somehow they made it out of the door and down the stairs. The sun was way too bright for him now and he moved achingly slow his free wing to shade his eyes.
He had to tilt his head off to the side for it to do any good at all and that caused his feet to try and follow the direction of said head. Because of that, he felt his left wing, which was hung over Ira's back, tugging him back towards his eldest sibling.
"Where are we going?" he asked quietly, trying to follow Ira and not fall over all without looking.
