She relaxed a little bit. It had been clear that he wasn't some psychotic elitist bastard. Otherwise he probably wouldn't have saved her in the first place. She was "just a club" after all. Her nose wrinkled at the thought. Her family was open, sure, but the rest of the world was annoyingly close minded.
And he probably did think he was better than her. How couldn't he? He was on the top of the food chain. "It's good to hear, you know. I'm used to Hearts stomping on my self confidence." She waved a paw as they continued to trot towards their destination. "So... what is the court of Hearts like? I've never really been brave enough to visit, and I'm not sure that I believe half of the rumors. Are the roses as amazing as they say?"
Her extra long tail curled with curiosity.

Jovan smiled. She was really up front with everything and Jovan found that he really liked that about her. His tail would wag a little and he snorted at her comment. Suits weren't everything. She reaffirmed that with every step. Even if Clubs really were as bad off as some of the Hearts around the Court made them sound Jovan wouldn't have been able to believe it about this one. She was quick-witted and feisty... and cute... but he wasn't about to say anything about that.
"Suits will say what they will about each other," the horse-mix shrugged. "But regardless, you've got too much self-confidence to crush."
As the conversation switched, Jovan's tail picked up its wagging. "To be honest, I think they are. By size alone they're impressive, but they're also the biggest and reddest roses I've ever seen. You should see them sometime, they're worth the trip." Was she a fan of flowers?, he wondered. With all those floral mutations he would have to think so, but it was hard to judge a book by its cover.
He certainly didn't have a fondness for extra appendages though he had plenty of them.

Damn straight she had too much self confidence.
Her brother said it was going to get her killed.
She had no doubt in her mind that one day it was going to. Until that day she would enjoy prancing around and being full of herself. Even if someone tried to knock her down a peg or two. It was a bad policy to keep, but it was her's.
"Really?" she perked at the news of the flowers. "I... I would like to go sometime. I just don't think it's safe for me to go by myself and my brother is.... blind. The rest of my family is too wrapped up to think of visiting. And I don't think Clubs would be welcome on a regular basis."
But she wanted to see the rose. "And I guess it's pretty obvious that I have a think for flowers since I'm a walking green house... even though I smell mostly of chocolate." She was more like a walking Valentine. At least she could walk around smelling of romance.

Jovan felt the lights go on as she spoke. Of course she smelt like chocolate. That was the smell he'd been picking up earlier. He didn't enjoy that scent. His tail would wag a little as he spoke. "I think you smell great - I don't know a person who doesn't enjoy chocolate in some form or another."
His thoughts drifted momentarily. She really didn't have anyone to go with, did she? And he could see the potential problem with a Club going alone into the Rose Gardens... Well...
"Y'know... You've got no one to take you and I work at the Palace..." He grinned and, though he wasn't sure why, he felt a brush creeping along his cheeks. "I'd be more than happy to take you to see the Gardens." Why... did it almost feel as if he were asking her out? He wasn't inviting her to dinner or anything, just a little trip?

Eurwen stopped abruptly after he made the offer of taking her to the Court of Hearts to see the roses. Her eyes light up as she had to resist the urge to tackle him. Instead she hugged him awkwardly. Because there was no way she couldn't show her appreciation.
She let go fairly quickly so it wouldn't be awkward.
"Thank you! You're so impossibly sweet! We just met after you saved me and you're even kind enough to offer to take me to the Court of Hearts to see the roses. You have got to be the nicest Heart in all of the regions." Her tail twitched as it attempted to curl happily. She still hadn't gotten use to the thing.
She really hoped that he was actually nice and not trying to trick her into something regrettable. She was still a Club and he was still a Heart. But considering all that he had done she had no reason to be terribly suspicious.

Jovan's cheeks lit up to bright red as she embraced him and he returned the brief affection with a quick tentacle hug. When she stepped back, he was beaming. Above all else, Jovan enjoyed being helpful. Whether he was protecting someone or just lending a paw (or tentacle) it made him feel worthwhile and gave him a proper focus.
"Heh! You're welcome!" He tilted his head bashfully, still grinning widely. "I was going there anyway, it'd be selfish of me not to invite you." Plus, though he didn't entirely want to admit it, Eurwen was a pretty cute girl... Maybe if he got the chance to make a proper impression they might end up more than just an acquaintance.
He tilted his head toward the sky and made a face. It was getting kind of late and that wasn't always the best time to view flowers. The little voice in the back of his head urged him that rose gardens at night were actually very romantic, but he quickly tossed those thoughts aside. For now, he'd let Eurwen decide. "When would you like to go?"

Eurwen wasn't one for romance normally. Perhaps it was because she was always wrapped up in plots of how to make herself a better and more interesting person. Or maybe it was simply because she was wrapped up in herself too tightly?
However at this moment she blushed. She couldn't really understand why, but she was pretty impressed by the boy. He just seemed nice... and maybe he was a little more than just a "nice guy" after all he was a Heart.
Her family did approve of all suits....
"When....?" she said for a moment as she stared into space. "Ah... well. Could we make a stop at my lab first? I want to check up on my brother. And then maybe we could... leave tonight? I mean unless that's too much for you. The trip to the court of Hearts is a long one in a horse an carriage...."
She had some extra money stored away for such a trip.

The little hint of blush surprised him, but (though Jovan didn't want to admit it) he enjoyed the sight of it. It made him feel... oddly accomplished. He hid that down in the back of his mind for now, but the wag eventually broke free when she answered. More embarrassingly still, Jovan was quickly realizing that his goal was more selfish than he'd originally imagined. He wasn't just selflessly showing this girl around but trying to find reasons to keep from having to say goodbye.
He felt like a fool, but Eurwen would never catch hint of that as he trot along beside her.
"We can definitely do that," family always came first, of course, "and tonight is wonderful. I have the whole evening off, so -for once- I don't have any obligations." The trip was a long one, but it was one he'd been expecting to make. What of Eurwen though? He couldn't imagine helping her all the way out here and then stranding her at The Court of Hearts in the middle of the night.
"Do you have somewhere to stay over that way? It'd be rude of me to invite you all the way out there and not see to it that you were safe by the end of the trip."

Eurwen wanted to dance, or do something equally embarrassing. She was actually going to get to see the famous roses and she wouldn't be killed for being a Club on Heart property. It was probably an exaggeration to be so worried, since once upon a time there was a treaty and some nonsense. But really, who would want a smug low ranked mouse club running around the palace? And she would step out of line. It was in her nature.
"I'm so happy you're willing to take me!" She said cheerfully.
And then he brought up the subject of where she was going to stay after the visit. It would be too late for her to go home so.... "Well, I figured I would just stay at a cheap inn. There's bound to be a few near the palace right? It's not like I can impose on you."

Her pleasure brightened Jovan's day more than he thought possible. He loved to make people happy and this, this was just perfect. "I'm so glad! The gardens are really spectacular, you deserve to see 'em." She was a walking greenhouse, who better to appreciate the roses? And he did so love to see her joy.
Maybe it was just the chance to see more of her, or maybe he just liked being 'the hero' that much but her uncertain response probably made him happier than it should have. "It wouldn't be imposing at all." He smiled slightly, his tail giving a cheerful wag to emphasize his pleasure before he realized that it was probably just as ungentlemanly of him to invite a girl back to his room when he'd only just met her. Ack! Well, it would be up to her. "Not to be forward, I just feel bad for sending you to find a hotel after inviting you out all that way... but, if spending a night with a boy you've just met doesn't suit you I could always help you find a comfortable inn." He wasn't sure how many cheap inns they'd find close by, but he'd pay whatever difference was necessary.
