The girl's tail curled. She eyed the mix breed with a curious expression. Was he actually inviting her to his room? Was there anything he intended to do with the offer? They had just met... and he did seem terribly over polite.
But she could dream right? Having an affair with a Heart while in the Palace after viewing the amazing roses? This was one of her unrealized fantasies that could make a fantastic romance novel. A small part of her wanted to skip as they walked along. "Well... I suppose I could stay with you. I just wouldn't want to impose when you've already saved my life..." She blushed as she looked at him. "You really are too kind, I'm having trouble believing that you're a Heart."
She leaned in closer to him, brushing up against his cheek with a very faint kiss.

Heh. She was really good at flattery wasn't she? Or maybe he wasn't used to compliments. He rubbed the back of his neck with a tentacle slightly and tossed his mane out of his eyes slightly. "You're not imposing at all. I want to be a guard, the least I should be able to do is protect you." He grinned down at her, not expecting the soft blush or the little kiss that followed it.
A look of pleasant surprise crossed his expression before his cheeks remembered to light up rosy pink. Suddenly he was completely tongue tied and his heart was jumping back and forth between heavy pounding and an awkward fluttering. He offered her a goofy little smile, trying to find his words again. "Thank you, Eurwen." He chuckled softly and wrapped a tentacle around her affectionately. "I think its the way more Heart's should be. Our abilities are equally suited to protecting than to attacking. People forget that."
His blush wasn't subsiding at all. He felt like such a little fool, so flustered over a girl's kiss. It was just a thank you kiss. Nothing more.

Maybe she could get more out of this? Maybe she could "thank him" in a special sort of way? It was probably a bad thing to manipulate him in such a way but she didn't want to pass up a chance like this. It wasn't every day she ran into someone who had tentacles and was sweet.
Both of which were rare traits, put together it was something else entirely. And somehow he was a Heart.
A win win situation. And she was going to be seeing the gardens.
So when he gave her a rather nice hug with his tentacle, she moved in a bit closer to give him a proper snuggle as a thanks. "You're welcome, though I only speak the truth. And I think you're right about Hearts.... and I think Clubs are sometimes entirely too proud to admit what they actually are good at."
Then she realized what street they were on. "Hold on one moment!" she said cheerfully as she slipped out of his reach and hurried over to a door. "Do you want to come inside for a bit.... it's not much... so I understand if you want to stay outside."

Jovan couldn't stop blushing and he was almost certain that Eurwen was trying to keep it that way. His brief hug had suddenly turned into a rather long embrace complete with a little snuggle. He swallowed a little nervously, but his tentacle didn't pull away either. This was.. kind of nice, having a girl acting so sweet toward him.
"It's unfortunately understandable on both ends. If they weren't being bullied by Hearts, they wouldn't have to be so headstrong sometimes." Honestly he didn't feel Hearts even had an excuse for their behavior, but ultimately they were all just living up to an expectation. Or maybe most of them really were as cruel as the stereotype suggested. He didn't even know.
Suddenly Eurwen was slipping away and Jovan blinked in surprise at the fact that he had been kind of... holding her... that whole time. Oh suits, what was he doing? Making a fool of himself, most likely. Still, when she invited him in he flashed a warm smile and managed to banish his blush at last. "Sure, why not! Can't be any more humble than my grandmother's home. She hasn't bought new furniture in over a generation."

Furniture? They barely had any of that. This was mostly a lab dedicated to her sibling's wonderful obsession with science. She may have been part Corvie, but science wasn't her particular cup of tea. The end result was something she could easily benefit from, so she helped her brother when it came down to it.
"Ha well, having proper furniture is more than this place has," she commented as she ushered the boy in. Maybe she would be lucky and her brother would be out with.... her. The thought almost made her choke.
She padded in behind the horse mix, calling out to double check. "Meir? Are you here?"
There was a moment of silence before a reply. "What is it Eurwen.. do you have any idea how late it is?"
"Not late enough for you to be in bed," she replied as she walked over to the spot where she had her money hidden. She glanced around for her brother, spotting him on the massive stack of pillows. She waved over to Jovan to come over to where she was.

Ahh... Stepping inside cleared up his brief confusion. So this was a proper lab and less of a living space (though the pillows suggested it was also used as such). He was certain that Grandmother would have lived in a similar setup if not for the pestering of others. The thought made him grin, until his eyes spotted Eurwen's brother among the pillows.
By the suits, that was a lot of wings.
He was tempted to say something and was partially hopeful that the other male would move so Jovan could get a clearer view of him. His brother's face was a mess of tentacles, but the sheer amount of little wings on Meir put them to shame.
Despite his curiosity, Jovan kept his mouth shut as he joined Eurwen where she was digging for money. He didn't want to be too disruptive if Meir had been sleeping or something, though the light clicking of his hooves in the otherwise quiet building had probably made enough of an entrance for him.

The mouse hybrid's empty eye sockets narrowed at the sound of hooves on the floor. What the hell had Eurwen brought back with her? All of his feathers puffed up as he stared in the direction of the sound. "Did you bring someone home with you?"
Eurwen didn't bother to look away from what she was doing. She pulled out a small change purse and started to slip the string it was attached to around her neck. Wearing things as necklaces was a good way to keep track of everything.
When she looked up she nearly jumped. Her brother could keep his feather up for quite sometime it seemed. Well that was nice. "Don't get so upset. He's trusty worthy. He's actually from the Court of Hearts."
At the mention of the courts the mouse hybrid's feathers seemed to sooth themselves. He still looked unhappy, and there seemed to be blood seeping out of his eye sockets. Ew. "Aren't you going to introduce him?"
"Maybe later!" She said brightly as she nudged the tentacled boy towards the door.

Jovan's brief flush of intrigue at seeing Eurwen's brother shift into better view was quickly squashed when he found himself peering into very empty eye sockets. Holy suits, that was not what he expected. His tentacles spasmed briefly at the surprise, but he quickly brought himself under control and reminded himself that he had seen more unusual things.
He hesitated slightly at the exchanged between the siblings, contemplating introducing himself before he noticed the blood seeping down the male's cheeks. Still not the weirdest thing he'd ever seen but he was getting closer by the second.
He let Eurwen usher him out of the lab with a great sense of relief. It seemed formalities were best saved for later as she said, if there was even to be a later. This was, after all, just a spontaneous encounter and most likely nothing more than that. Though he did enjoy what he'd seen of her so far.
Outside, Jovan glanced back at Eurwen and grinned slightly. "Is your brother always that irritable, or uh... is that just from waking him up?"

"He's just grumpy because I woke him up. Honestly most of the time he's ridiculously nice." She shrugged. "He's been having some problems with his experiments too, so that probably added to the whole thing. Strangers in the lab aren't something we usually do."
Actually she normally didn't bring anyone home. It was safer that way. "Things have changed a lot since our Mom moved back to the Courts. Our dad passed away and she just.... didn't want to be alone. It took a lot of convincing to get her to let us stay. And uh.... there was a good deal of dishonesty involved."
Blatant lying about the situation. She had only agreed to things because they were supposed to be living with their Uncle Malc. That was far from the case, and the head of one part of the family hadn't been informed of the uh... change of pace. So everything right now was balanced on eggshells.

Jovan chuckled softly as Eurwen spoke, nodding. "I can imagine how all of that would ruffle one's fur the wrong way." Especially considering how irritable his grandmother could get when you went poking down in her lab uninvited. That was something he hadn't made the mistake of twice.
As the ivy-covered mouse went on, however, Jovan's expression dampened a little. To the terribly honest and family-oriented little boy, the prospect of lying to one's mother was bad enough on its own but after their father had died no less? Well, surely they had reasons... Eurwen didn't exactly seem proud of the entire situation either, so Jovan couldn't bring himself to hold it against her.
"Ah... I'm sorry to hear all that. Especially about your dad, it must be hard... loosing family like that." Jovan couldn't imagine losing his family. Even his 'adopted' fathers. His tentacles squirmed a little but he kept on his original pace. He knew a little carriage station not too far from here that ran to the Court of Hearts even at this late hour. "But, you two seem to be doing alright at the moment?"
