Eilwyn refrained from frowning. If Elyse said it was normal it must have been normal, but he had to wonder if babies were always this violent. He couldn't ask Ms. Calia since she was a bird... so he could ask Ms. Kelasia. It just seemed awkward though.
"Oh! Yes I got the caramel apples. I also got some chocolate and a few other things that you wanted before but I didn't have time to get. I'll go heat up the caramel for you." Eilwyn said cheerfully as he hurried to grab the other bags.
He had bought a variety of food she had been craving, along with "normal" things he bought for dinner. Things had gotten complicated since Elyse was pregnant, and he had to cook several meals to get things "right" so she could eat properly. The probably was eating healthy when cravings were involved.
He couldn't imagine this was going to get easier.

She gave his hand a reassuring squeeze before he got up to get the other bags. "You are wonderful, you know that?" During everything that had been going on Wyn had been a vital aspect of it. True, without him she would would not be in this condition but without him she would not have been able to get through it.
Watching him as he made his way - in her eyes confidently - around the apartment and kitchen she smiled contently. She was very lucky to have been able to win Wyn's heart. Reaching over to the coffee table she picked up the glass figure that was the first one Wyn had made her so long ago. Many things had changed since then.
Shifting more onto her back she brought the glass figure up in front of her, running her fingers down it, admiring the detail. Fluffing up the pillow resting under her head, she gave it a hug. Though it would not take him long to prepare the food she was suddenly feeling very tired. A little nap before food would not be that bad an idea.

It didn't take him long to set up everything in the kitchen. Heating up caramel was a small nightmare for the eagle as he struggle to get the right temperature that wouldn't set the pot on fire. After an epic battle he managed to get the right temperature. Carefully he dipped the apples in the caramel, placing them on wax paper once they were dipped.
Hopefully Elyse would want to eat them after all this effort.
After fifteen minutes or so the process was complete. He set everything on a tray and went to present them to Elyse.
He paused when he was about to speak. Peeking over the sofa he noticed that she was sleeping. Oh well, there was no reason to bother her then. Choking back a small sigh he sneaked back to the kitchen. He might as well put them in the ice box, she might be a while.

The nap did not last as long as she would have wanted or hoped. At about fifteen after Wyn had finished making the caramel apples Elyse was awoken by an increase of pain from the confined space in her abdomen.
Giving a gasp she tried her hardest to work her way through the pain. When the whichever child that had caused the pain settled down Elyse tried not to let fear overwhelm her. That had been the worst episode yet and she was sure that it would not be getting any lighter from there on.
Reaching over to the table next to her she grasped the small piece of marble. Once it was in hand she pulled an image of her father-in-law. Hopefully he had been staying near and would get here first. Someone would need to take care of and help Wyn if it was indeed time.
After sending a short message to the Selkie she reached out again this time to Temmin.

Theofilus had been working on the books in the shipping firm when he got the message. He dropped everything that he had been doing, and bolted as fast as he could possibly go, taking flight so he could get past all the foot traffic.
He would be there in fifteen minutes, hopefully that would be enough time to prevent a disaster.
--
Eilwyn was cleaning in the kitchen, he had yet to notice that Elyse was awake. He turned off the water, and brushed off one of the dishes he had been cleaning. Placing it in the drying rack, he decided that it would probably be a good time to check on Elyse.
Walking out into the dining from with a smile, he grinned.
And then his eyes widened, the grin disappearing. From the look of things Elyse was in pain. And... oh no.
"Are you all right?" he squeaked as he hurried over to her side.

She gave Wyn a weak smile, though she put all her effort into making it as authentic as she possibly could. Reaching out with the hand that was not currently clutching the small piece of marble, she took one of his hands in hers and gave it a gentle, reassuring squeeze. Taking charge of it she pulled it to rest on top of her tummy, laying her hand on top.
"They are just being a little rough in their shifting is all. Not enough room and they are restless to get out and see their loving parents."
Not wanting to move too much and cause the babes any further aggravation she reached out with her other paw that still grasped the stone. She waited till he held out a hand to take it and dropped it in his palm. "Place that over there, would you?" She motioned with a wave of her arm toward the table.

Eilwyn was not convinced in the slightest. He did however, follow the order without hesitation. He held out his hand and when Elyse let of he put it down on the table.
He glanced over at her, his expression was laced with nothing but worry. How could he not worry? It looked like she was going to explode any minute! She must have called the doctor! What was he supposed to do? The eagle could feel complete and utter panic well up inside him.
There was a frantic knock on the door. Eilwyn froze in the spot for a moment before running for it.
He swung the door open to find his father, panting on the other side, nearly on the ground. "Dad?"
"Eilwyn...." Theofilus began, struggling to catch his breath. "I need.... you to go to my office so you can contact.... Aderlass and tell him about.... Elyse."
The eagle was completely unsure of what to do.
"Seriously. Go. Now. I'm too old for this." Theofilus said as he watched his son jump with his good eye, and practically bolt out of the apartment past him. And then bolt back to give a quick apology to Elyse before departing.
When Theofilus made sure that Eilwyn was out of sight. He carefully shut the door and went over to Elyse with almost completely regained composure, he was still panting a bit. "Elyse, dear, you're not in too much pain are you?"

Elyse could tell that he was not completely convinced that everything was okay. Not that she could blame him in all honesty, but she was hoping to keep Wyn out of the worst of it. Her poor Wyn.
In response to the frantic knock on the door she gave Wyn a small, gentle push when she noticed that he seemed to freeze. Seeing that it was her father-in-law she gave a small internal sigh of relief. The Calvary were coming in. She even had to admire the speed in which he had managed to arrive.
If it had been pretty much any other instant for the play between father and son Elyse might have given into the need to giggle over the two of them. Especially when Theo used the argument of being to old. If he was anything like her Papa it was a complete and utter lie. Glancing back and forth between the two birds, she noticed that even though they were not blood related, there were traits that carried over from father to son regardless.
When Wyn quickly backtracked to give a quick apology she sent him a kiss. "I love you Wyn. Do not worry." She called out after him, determined that he remember those two things. As Theo came to sit next to her she gave him a brave smile.
"No too much," she replied to his question though when she gave a small wince she probably contradicted those words. "I contacted Temmin right after I got a hold of you, so he should be on his way. Do you want anything? Wyn bought some more of your favorite blend of tea" She offered.

Theofilus gave her a lopsided smile. Now wasn't the time for tea, but he would humor the poor woman who was in horrible pain. It wouldn't be long before the doctor showed up. And Eilwyn was going to take a while as he struggle to find the message that Theofilus had prepared for him in the first place.
"I think I'm fine without the tea, but if you would like some I suppose I could make it for you. Everything's going to be fine, either way." He gave her as smile as he reached down to squeeze her hand. "If you need me to do anything for you, I will."
Theofilus had to reassure himself everything would go fine. The doctor had been called, this was the time it was supposed to happen. They had done everything in their power to prevent something awful from happening, and Eilwyn was out of the way.
Everything was going to run smoothly.

She gave her father-in-law a warm smile. The amount of gratitude that she felt toward the sparrow could not be expressed in words. He honestly was a good soul. After all if he had not been wise enough to use his ability there was a distinct chance that she would not be around right now.
"I do not think that I could be tempted by that, though I do appreciate the offer." She worked on breathing and getting past the gut wrenching pain as the next wave passed over. When it was over she returned his hand squeeze giving words to her thanks. "I really appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to be here."
Her expression turned serious as she brought up the real topic that was on her mind. "Theofilus, should I die . . . " She was forced to trail off as the sparrow spoke up in protest. Giving a sigh, she silently hoped that what he said would be the truth of the matter but just in case her maternal instinct forced her to speak the last part regardless. "If something does go wrong, the lives of the children come first." She met his eyes directly as she said this.
