He shook his head. Honestly, it was silly saying something like that. He may have been the Queen of Diamonds but Elyse was family. He would drop anything for her or anyone else if they needed his help. And she needed it more than ever.
His heart skipped a beat when she mentioned death.
"You'll be fine, I promise you that Elyse," he said, reaching down to squeeze her paw. "I wouldn't lie to you about something this important. You're going to have a happy family, and be a wonderful mother."
Nothing could go wrong. He reassured himself. They doctor was on his way, and everything would be fine. She was going to be a happy mother, with a happy husband and a group full of happy children. Happy damnit.
The sparrow's head snapped around when he heard the knock on the door. He gave a small squeeze to Elyse's paw before running to get it. The doctor. Oh thank the Lakes and the stars above.

She looked over toward the door at the knock, giving a small sigh of relief. Now that the doctor was here, everything was definitely going to be okay. She returned the small squeeze that Theofilus had given to her paw.
~~~
It had definitely been a difficult birth but with the help of Temmin, everything had turned out to be okay. Resting, nicely tucked into bed, medication running blissfully through her veins to help dull the pain that had resulted from the c-section surgery needed to bring her kids into the world.
It was obvious from looking at the four precious children just why she had been dealing with so much pain as late. She repressed a small shiver at the idea of just what would have happened to her should her father-in law not have foreseen events.
Reaching over she brushed at the small mane that graced one of her daughters who had apparently inherited the ivy that graced her own body.
Babies.
Four very surprisingly special babies. They were completely and utterly unexpected. Each one of them had something different and amazing about them. Ivy growing out of them, one was pretty much made of smoke, glass ornamentation, and one lacked normal coloration. Three lovely girls and one boy.
The one thing that shocked Theofilus was the tiny little unusual cat girl who had no rank. It was wholly impossible but clearly possible if she was sitting right there in the basket. Confusing matters aside he had waited with Elyse for Eilwyn to return. Which took a while.
Eurwen wiggled to get closer to her mother. Her only brother whined and tried to get closer to his other siblings, only to find that one of them was very pointy and it was a bad idea.
The eagle walked in, shutting the door quietly behind him. He glanced around, happy to see that nothing had gone wrong. In theory. He prayed. His eyes light up when he saw his father.
"Congratulations," was all Theofilus managed as he took his son's hand and lead him into the room. "Elyse, your husband is here."
Eilwyn made a confused chirp as he was pulled into the room, he simply caught sight of all the colors of four bundles before his eyes fell on the medicated Elyse. "Wha...Wow?"
Elyse gave a fond smile to her four precious children. There were some surprising aspects to the four kids that she had not expected of them. Most of them had seemed to take after her realm, though there was also seemed to be a play on the usual colors.
Tilting her head to the side some she considered the one that was graced with glass. that one most definitely was to be blamed on her father, she thought. They were going to have a hard time making sure she did not hurt herself or others with it. Goodness, she was not even sure what would happen if the glass broke and she prayed that it never did.
The leaves, now those she would take full credit for, she thought with a smile as her own ivy leaves rustled on her arm.
She was just shifting her attention to the one who currently had no rank - something that even poor Elyse found as a shock and was not sure what to do about it - when her mate walked back in. Looking up she gave him a drugged-edged pleased smile.
It must be quite a shock for the poor guy, having to deal with all of this, then leaving to come home to a new litter of children. How she loved him.
"Come see our new children," she called as she motioned him forward.
Theofilus took this opportunity to pat his son on the back. "I'm going to be in the kitchen. I'll leave you two happy love birds alone." He quickly left the room to make some tea. And probably something to eat for the pair.
Eilwyn glanced at his father's departure before turning his attention to Elyse and the children.
He honestly hadn't expected this many. Either way the Eagle hurried up to Elyse's side. Glancing at the four children who were partial wrapped up. Ivy, glass and.... thorns? The glass child was definitely his fault and probably was the one that caused all the problems. Oh dear. Part of him wanted to apologize but that didn't seem like the right thing to do at a time like this.
"Are you all right?" Eilwyn asked, just to be sure. Once she had replied either way he asked cautiously, "H-have you decided on names for them yet?"
She gave her father-in-law another thankful smile as he made his way out of the room. She really was grateful that he had been there through the whole thing. She could only imagine how her father was going to react.
Holding a hand out to Wyn she gave him another warming smile. "I am doing fine, dear." The medication was most definitely doing their work. "Come, come, see." She looked down to adore her children again and give each of them a pet. She had never wanted to admit it but when she had been helping others give birth to their litters a small part of her had been slightly jealous in that she wanted her own.
Which she now had and she would hold dear.
She tried to cover a smile as the daughter with no rank batted softly at one of her sisters. "I had not wanted to name them till after I saw them, that way their names would be more appropriate. That and I was hoping that you wanted to name them with me."
He hurried over to Elyse's side, peering around her to see the children a bit better. His eyes scanned all of them before looking back at Elyse. He offered her a hand to hold, with a meek sort of smile on his beak.
He hadn't noticed that one of their children was missing a rank. He just noticed the large amount of leaves, glass ornamentation, and that one of the children was a rather odd combination of white and a wine color. That didn't seem right at all.
"I'm... not very good at naming, but I can try to help at least." He said, blushing under his feathers. "Though I do have an idea for one of them. It's a little odd, so I don't know how much you'll like it." Eilwyn would be the first to admit that he knew nothing about names. However he had come across interesting one's in all the stories that had been read to him as a child growing up.
She gave her mate a fond smile. Sometimes, the eagle really could be quite silly. After all, She was pretty sure that he would help pick wonderful names for all of their children. If the name was not really all that fitting well then, they would simply talk about it until they came to one that was more fitting and they both agreed with. "Well we won't know if I like it or not until you say it. So, how about you tell me wot name you are thinking of and we will find out." There were not really any names that were occurring to her right that moment, though she had an inking of one hopefully with some prodding will come. Wyn going first was sure to get the ball rolling. Nudging one of the children, gently and lovingly, she waited for her mate to speak up.
Eilwyn blushed slightly. All right, he would throw it out on the table and hope she didn't refuse. "Well... the only boy. I was thinking of Radzimierz. It's more of a name for a pure Highlander but... I think it would fit him well."The only boy. He looked to be a Highlander mix... but that didn't make much sense. Where would the red whine come from? And from the looks of it there where clear hints of Elyse's Corvie coloration. Maybe he was just some sort of strange mix? Though the little mouse child was clearly a Corvie mixed with Highlander. There was no doubt about that. She was an utterly adorable little mouse too. Actually, of the children she probably was the most normal. And she seemed to have a tiny amount of extra fuzz to indicate a mane. Children. It really was amazing.
"Radzimierz?" She intoned softly as she looked down to the lone male. It was kind of a strange name yet at the same time it was more than oddly fitting. "I think that that is an very fitting name for the boy. Radzimierz. I like it. Wot do you think we should name the female?"
She nudged the female that was decorated with glass ornamentation, to show which one was up for the next game of naming.
They were going to have an interesting time naming the female. Elyse was looking forward to naming it something after the work that Wyn did. Maybe he had a good name they could use.
"She looks half like one of your figurines that you make." Which was weird enough without thinking on how it might have passed on physically to one of their children. "Can you think of anything that would be fitting?"
