The ferret jumped a bit when Christopher approached so fast, but turned his head slightly to see him and nearly rolled his eyes. So fast from annoyed to really pissed off.. where was the nice middle "peeved"? Peeved was a nice emotion. Oh well. If he left, Mia could try to go back to sleep.. not that it would happen anyways.
"Oh come off, it's not like you haven't insulted me in every possible manner already. I had to return the favor sometime, didn't I?" He said rhetorically, his brow raising. Christopher really shouldn't be so insulted, not after what he'd said to Mia a few weeks before. Mia thought he was being nice in comparision, actually..
He then smoothed out his expression. "Leave if you'd like, but whatever you do should be for him, not me. You leaving does not affect me, despite the fact that you seem to think it will." Mia stated, then began turning back to his work. He'd decided to not really care if Christopher came or not - Zether could stay with Vessatha or Saethre during the day, and he would do his best to make some time for him at night when possible, should his father decide it wasn't worth his time. He'd see more of a parental figure if Chris stayed, but Mia wasn't going to slash his own dignity to ensure it happened.
Making him suffer? Wasn't that what this was? Shit. What was he going to do, egg his bedroom? There wasn't much else Christopher could do to possibly make his life worse.. he hoped.

"MOOOMMAAAAAA!" A bouncy otter wailed as she sped through the hallways of Spades, mostly incoherent through her excitement. "Mommamommamomma GUESS WHAT." She continued yelling, despite the fact that the only people in sight were a few servants, one unfortunate noble (that covered his ears) and a few children that looked at her oddly. She zoomed into the kitchens and came to a flying halt no less than two inches away from her mother's knees, then sat up and grinned, nearly clapping her hands gleefully. "Momma! There you are. I nearly couldn't find you. GUESS WHAT I'M PREGNANT. Isn't that exciting?!" The mustalid gushed, rocking herself back and forth in her own excitement, completely oblivious to the rest of the world around her.

Vessatha heard the screeching long before she saw it. She began mentally preparing herself as soon as the whispers of 'Isn't that Saethre?' began to permeate the kitchens, and found her happy place within her mind as the yelling got louder and louder. Suits, did the girl not have an indoor voice? For that matter, did she know how to calmly and politely announce her presence?
Stupid question.
"For the love of- SAETHRE. Stop yelling, you stupid girl. Lysaras can hear you, so so can I!" She snapped, a hand rising to pinch the bridge of her nose to ward off the headache she knew was coming. Generally her children didn't give her headaches, but this particular one seemed to make a habit of it daily.
"You're- you're what? Oh for the love of fat bald midgets, why on earth would I be excited about that? What did you do, find the nearest druggie on the street and make a deal for babies?" The ferret inquired sarcastically, doing her best not to think of exactly who her daughter had found to procreate with. Dysthymia had been amusing, but this.. well, this was just a disaster waiting to happen.

Saethre blinked and mentally toned herself back a few notches. Momma always got mad when she yelled, but she tended to forget. Yelling simply became a habit when you had twenty children surrounding you at all times, none of which had volume control. "Sorry momma," She mumbled, her eyes still as bright as always.
At the mention of drug dealers, she frowned, then fidgeted a bit. Ira wasn't precisely into drugs.. but blood had a bit of a euphoric effect on him. Did that count? No, it couldn't, blood wasn't a drug! Phew, she was safe. "Of course not momma," She chided, having bypassed the situation in her head, "Ira is a perfectly nice man. You wouldn't like him, but momma Quinn would! Is she here today?" The otter asked, already looking around for the second half of her parentage.

"Babies EVERYWHERE!" a thrilled voice declared. Apparently Quinn had somehow managed to hear the "wonderful" news about Saethre's pregnancy, though she hadn't yet managed to get in (in any form) to play with her veryveryVERY first grandbaby. And more were on the way! The otter bounced in, scarf twisting and swirling and trailing happily through the air behind her, winged son under one arm. Chiari looked calm and rather resigned rather than actively upset, and did his best to at least help out with the being-hauled-around part of things by making sure to at least support himself a bit as his mother had tugged him along. Having procured the presence of her delightful mate, Quinn stopped - a respectful, stay-the-hell-out-of-my-personal-bubble-while-I'm-working-or-no-sex distance away - and placed the mixed boy in front of her, as if presenting a great gift to her beloved. "He's giving us grandbabies too!" Quinn was thrilled. Quinn was ecstatic. Quinn was also using her son as a shield, but that wasn't something she made obvious, because really, she was only making sure he got to recieve the full force of his other mother's joy and approval, right?

"Delightful," Vessatha replied sarcastically, desperately trying not to imagine who this Ira person was and just how badly he'd tainted her daughter. Then again, she was already pretty screwed up, so he couldn't have made it too worse. Still, the thought of some boy touching her daughter - no, no, best not to think of it. Anger wasn't going to help, the stupid girl was already pregnant.
When Quinn walked in she raised an eyebrow at the otter, and motioned at her for Saethre. "She's right there. Squee to her, please, while I go find where I left my sanity.." The ferret muttered, then looked like she was about to cry or pitch a fit when Ari's-impending-children were announced too. "You all are trying to kill me, aren't you? You want me to have a stress attack and suicide. You really do." Vessatha muttered, then rose an eyebrow at the only one of her children that was dec'd out in distinctly feminine wings. "Well, who's the mother, unless you managed to bring it upon yourself?" She asked. It was entirely possible, but she'd never thought of Chiari was particularly attracted to men.. despite his "pretty" wings.
Saethre let out a high-pitched sound of pure joy, then launched herself at her second mother, clinging for dear life. "MOMMA QUINN!" She shouted, rocking back and forth with her happy noises. "I haven't seen you in like a week! Did you hear I'm having BABIES? They'll be so pretty too! Their daddy's a horse and he has such pretty green fur!" Saethre gushed, oblivious to the fact that her brother had his news announced for him.
She had noticed his presence though, and detatched herself from her mother in order to give him his own mini-glomp. Couldn't let him think she didn't love him too, afterall.
Dysthymia walked into the kitchens with the intention of getting a sandwich. He wanted some ham and cheese, and then he wanted to go back to his work and continue ignoring the dismal failure that was his life at presence.
Upon seeing no less than both his parents and 3/4ths of his litter, he turned sheet white and tried to escape, but Vessatha already had his shoulder in the grip of her much more dextrous bipedal hands. "Shit! What are all of you doing here? I hate family reunions, and I have work to do." He scowled, doing his best to plant images of his sandwich into his mind. If he pretended they weren't there.. maybe they'd go away.
Unfortunately he caught snippets of Saethre's raving, and snorted a bit too loudly. "You're pregnant? Dear lord, are you trying to kill off our entire race?" He said sarcastically, not at all aware that it might earn him a nice bruise somewhere.

"But you're going to be a grandmamma too, just like me!" Quinn protested. She then let go of Ari's shoulders in time to catch her daughter and spin the girl around a few times, the scarf spiralling in the opposite direction of the spin, before she finally placed the girl back on her feet.
"That's wonderful, little one! He sound lovely; I would certainly love to meet him some time." Because adult or not, these were still her little babies, and if they were going to create life with someone else, she was damn well going to make sure that they were worthy of the life she had helped create. That meant she was going to make sure to meet up with Ari's partner as well, and most definitely Dysthymia's.
Speaking of the ferret...
"Hello, my little boy," she purred, slipping up behind him and practically pouring herself over his shoulder to peer at him. "When were you going to inform your darling Mama Quinn that she's a grandmama?"
--
Chiari brushed back his head-feelers/feathers - it was always an interesting sensation, and he still liked it even now - and smiled winsomely at his mother, wings fluttering just slightly as all three eyes sparkled.
"She's the most lovely deer, Mother," he explained. "A pretty little mix, but Corvistowne and Torquehelm, with the sweetest personality. I think you'd rather like her, really. She's quiet and not all that outgoing, despite being a Diamond, and quite the intelligent conversationalist when you get down to it. But she's not at all like an Esterberry - I heard Mia managed a fling with one of those?" He hadn't met his nephew yet, much less heard too much about him.
Then he turned to catch his sister and proceeded to lose at least part of his composure to grin and giggle like an idiot.
"We're gonna be parents, Sae! You're gonna be a momma and I'm gonna be a papa, and it's going to be awesome!" Or pure hell, at least for him, because it wasn't like either he or Helen really knew all that much about raising kids. "Can I bring my kids to you if I need to take a break or something?" Some part of him wondered if maybe he should grab one of the ubiquitous servants and send them to retrieve Aphasia, so then it really would be a full family reuinion. Another part wondered if they should move out of the kitchens.

"We're grandparents at the same time, Quinn darling," Vessatha replied dryly, too used to pointing out the obvious. She watched the dynamics of her family - despite one being missing - and couldn't help but be amused at the various levels of excitement and dread circling the room. Most of the dread was from Mia, but he was all too entertaining in his own right.
She eyed Chiari when he began describing this Helen and was somewhat relieved that she sounded remotely sane.. but was doubtful, because all of her children lied like mats. "Alright, smartass. When I meet her - not if - I'll determine that myself. And yes, yes, he did."
The ferret couldn't help it and grinned when the otter zeroed in on Mia. He hadn't told her? Vessa hadn't, figuring the dummy would be intelligent enough to inform Harlequinn, but this was obviously not the case. Eager to make him squirm just a tad more, she moved over to his other shoulder and peered over it in a similar manner, then chuckled into his ear before pulling Quinn off of him and practically collapsing on her in a hug. It wasn't nearly often enough that Quinn stayed for any length of time (which was partly her own fault for being so crabby) so she made use of it while she could.
"Absolutely!" Saethre cooed happily. "He lives in the Capital too, but he'll be at my house all the time. Just stop by!" The otter then danced herself in a little circle, her paw automatically resting on her belly. She wasn't showing even a little bit, but she knew her babies were in there - and she didn't need a test or a doctor to verify it. She just knew.
Saethre grinned and giggled with him, their grins scarily identical in the mirrored toothiness. "Yeah, it totally is!" She agreed, already picturing the five million ways her and Ira's genes could combine. "Sure! They can play with mine and be bestest friends! Mia brings Zether over sometimes, but he's so quiet.." She commented, her gaze sliding over to their being-tortured brother, then she shrugged.
Dysthymia was quite happily sulking in his almost-corner, and took a deep breath of relief once Vessatha warily let go of his shoulder to watch the family. Escape was so feasible, but he hadn't eaten since yesterday and he was hungry..
Lost in his thoughts he failed to notice Quinn moving over to him, and so he froze like stone when she slithered over him and began silkily questioning him. "Uhh.." He muttered, his expression turning to a grimace. "Soon, ma.. I was going to bring him to the Capital to show him to you, but I couldn't find you."
When Vessatha joined her at his other shoulder he froze again and immediately weaseled out from under them, rubbing in vain at his shoulders, which felt as though they would never rid themself of the crept-up-upon sensation. Thankfully their attention left him, and he could go sit next to his brother and glare at him. "I heard that, by the way. Don't think I didn't." He said threateningly, then sighed. "He's a real prickface. Trust me, I wish I would have been drunk." Mia said, not entirely sure if he meant it or not. A loss of memory would have been nice, though..

The canine's ears twitched as he walked down the hall. Dysthymia was not where he was supposed to be. For heaven's sakes that man never was in the right place when he needed him. And of course he couldn't find his son anywhere.... they boy had managed to figure out how to open doors rather quickly. Then again floating helped quite a bit.
Christopher mutter to himself as he slipped the book that he had been studying under his shoulder. Fine he would look for the ferret in the kitchen and discuss what he wanted to do for Zether's proper education. It was important and the ferret wasn't going to avoid it for much longer. Some servant had pointed him in the right direction so there was no escape.
The man opened the door and nearly dropped his book where he stood. For the love of Esterberry scholars why was Mia surrounded by so many people. And what was that meager little insult?
"Prickface? Is that the best your inferior mind can come up with?" He said flatly, completely ignoring the mass of people in the room.
