"I'm sure you were going to, my pretty son," she purred, but anything else Quinn had been planning on saying was cut off as Vessatha pulled her into a hug, and really, her dear one was far more important than a silly little boy. Even if he was life created from her, and he'd created life of his own, and she was fairly sure that he hadn't actually been planning on telling her any time soon because when did any of her children tell her anything without her seeking them out and soliciting the information from them?
--
"You were meant to hear that, my silly brother!"[/color] Ari sang out, a rather ridiculous grin on his face from where he was still cuddling his sister. Their kids would grow up together and be bestest friends, just like she'd said, and they'd go on all sorts of adventures together, and there'd be silly stories about them laughing and learning lessons and becoming friends and all of the cheesy things he'd read in the teen books he'd found in the Library.
Or, you know, not.
And then Chiari was very very very distracted by the entrance of someone else into the kitchen, a rather handsome (if very arrogant) someone, and a someone that he rather suspected was the someone that Mia had been whining about. The comment cinched it.
--
Harlequinn moved before any of her children had the chance, having come to the same conclusion. Black eyes narrowing, she released her adored one and slinked up to the scholar in question, floating scarf suspiciously still in the air behind her.
"...are you the one who got my son pregnant?" Her voice was as flat as his had been.

Vessatha clung to her for a few minutes, and sighed when she was released. It was draining being around her children in mass quantities, she'd realised - they were all so talkative. She needed a freakin' nap after listening to them jabber for so long.
While she hadn't expected Christopher to join their little 'friendly' get-together, it didn't exactly surprise her. They were a rather static group and weren't hiding - the kitchens was a rather obvious place to choose. What had she come in here for, anyways? Wait, shit, she worked here.
The ferret grinned when Quinn decided to pretend to be the overprotective mama, and sat back to watch. A hearty dose of sarcasm might make her feel better.
Saethre idly listened to her brothers jabber, not inclined to participate. Mia gave her enough shit about existing that it was nice to not be the taunted one, for once. So she wrapped a hand around one of his floaty thingies and contented herself with poking at it and watching it bounce up and down. Ah, simple pleasures.
She too looked up when the Saluki entered, and was somewhat startled when a dead silence fell over them, only to be interrupted by Christopher's less-than-darling comment to Mia. Immediately she detatched herself from Chiari and began edging less than subtley over to the canine, staring in a bit too honest of a fashion. She deduced who he was immediately, but could only grin a bit to herself when Quinn asked the obvious.
Dysthymia merely sighed, not about to argue with Harlequinn. If she at least pretended to agree with him, that was fine. They were a family of ignorance anyways - ignorance of their own bloody problems. It seemed to work for them, albeit a tad dysfunctionally.
"So you'd like me to think," He retorted back to Ari with a grin. "I may be silly, but at least I'm not frilly." The ferret reached up to bat one of the feeler-y thingies that had begun adorning the otter's head. He was still a bit disturbed by it, but he'd come to the conclusion that if someone was willing to tolerate three eyes, fairy wings and sparkling fur wasn't exactly a huge second step.
Much to his chagrin, Christopher chose that exact moment to walk in. Mia was somewhat appeased that he appeared to be baffled at his family almost entirely all in one place, but just snorted at the comment. "What intelligence I may have once possessed is being sapped by these wonderful mustalids," He replied, too annoyed in general to bother being phased. The ferret rolled his eyes at Harlequinn, but didn't bother to intervene. Maybe it would be entertaining, maybe not.

Christopher raised an eyebrow at the woman who had suddenly closed the gap of space between them. He took in Mia's comment. That explained quite a bit didn't it? And if this person was his... mother or whatever then he could obviously see that Mia had obviously blessed with an intellect from Vessatha. Or at least that's where he got his sarcasm.
"No. I simply responded to the prick comment because I wanted to put my two cents in." He rolled his eyes briefly and turned to Mia. "I wanted to speak to you about Zether's education. I found quite a few people who would be capable of teaching him properly."
He noticed the blue otter edging towards him. Honestly the rest of Mia's family didn't understand the simple concept of personal space. He really hoped none of this weird would rub off on Zether. The very thought made the shudder inwardly. The other person in the room with three eyes was completely ignored.

No, "personal space" wasn't exactly a phrase that had ever entered into Quinn's vocabulary; or if it had, the routine cleaning device that got rid of information that it deemed useless had tossed it away, deleting it from her mind so that she really didn't pay too much attention to what was expected of her in leaving at least a little private area for people to be in. For that matter, she crept a little bit closer to Christopher, otter-body curling around as her scarf undulated gently in a non-existant breeze. "I see..." She had mild fish breath. Not bad, but it was there. Consider that she was close enough that the Saluki could probably smell this fact. Her body language hadn't changed at all from the vaguely threatening posture it had been in the moment she'd spotted him and figured his identity out. Unfortunately for her (well, more unfortunately for Christopher), she couldn't hold the attitude for any longer than that, and then promptly flung her arms out to catch the saluki in a no-holds-barred OMGglomp. "I'm so happy! My babies are settling down and creating Life and you helped and thank you and that means you're going to be around for the other babies being born right and have you met my Beautiful One, my Vessatha?" Breathing probably went somewhere in there. Probably. Maybe. -- Chiari, for his part, giggled at the antenna-batting, and then settled down to observe the proceedings. It was like watching a particularly fascinating play, and he wished vaguely that he could have some popcorn. For a second it occured to him that they were in the kitchens, but he didn't want to interrupt this particular scene for anything, and really, what had happened to all of the servers that were in here when he and Mama Quinn had shown up...? -- [ooc: Or rather, an adult-and-pierced version of him. Almost at it!] Aphasia hurried down the hallway as fast as he could go, right on the servent's heels. The poor rat hadn't been able to stutter out anything other than that something had happened relating to his family (and that it involved all of his family, which meant Quinn, which meant bad things probably were happening). He doubted anyone had been harmed; at least with them, any fighting tended to be loud, violent, and clue in everyone within a five mile radius (if they were being quiet). But still, something had happened, which was always incentive enough to send him, jangling unmusically, down the hallays toward the kitchens as fast as he could. The rat was nowhere in sight when he reached the door, but Aph didn't let that stop him and almost threw the door wide - it was partially open as was - and then skidded to a stop as he took in the scene. "...Mama Quinn, would you please let go of that poor man?"Welcome to the whole family, Christopher.

Fascinated, Vessatha simply stared as Quinn began 'stalking' him. Was it in her instincts to stalk things? Shouldn't it be the other way around, dog stalking random animal? Clearly someone's genetics got a tad screwy somewhere along the line, but she wasn't willing to make bets on whose.
She could only snort when the poor man got tackled. Vessa wasn't about to go passing judgement on whether or not he deserved it, but if he was going to associate with their son, he was going to have to get used to it. They were an odd family.
Saethre edged closer and closer, paying just enough attention to her mother to watch for the timing. She knew, just knew that Momma Quinn wanted to pounce him too, but it wouldn't do to have the lighter of the two - her, still, since she wasn't showing yet - be on the bottom. Plus, she might hurt the babies that way. If she was on top it would only be a light bounce! So the otter paced herself, and just as soon as Quinn threw herself at him, she launched herself in a similar manner, only wordlessly and with a huge, toothy grin.
Dysthymia wasn't sure if he was horrified or amused.
His brain bypassed the entire conversation - what one-sided version of it existed - and skipped right to the part where Christopher got glomped (for what other word was there for it?) by his mother and sister.
Hey, welcome to the family, here's a free tackle!
The ferret stared for about two seconds, then burst out laughing. He immediately sunk against the nearest wall, clutching his stomach while he laughed himself silent, then took a deep breath, wiped off a tear, and went to go help his brother clear the females off of Christopher. "Hey, Aph. Nice timing. Why don't we have a whole bloody reunion and go dig out some ancestors from Kahmden?" The ferret remarked bitterly while tugging on whatever limb he reached first.

Christopher was shocked to say the very least. Physical contact wasn't what he was expecting. His whole body tensed when the woman tackled him, along with the other one.
"Get. Off." He said in an unamused voice. He didn't struggle against the weight--he wasn't about to throw his back out because someone was being entirely too friendly.
Of course he had no doubts about where Mia got his personality. It didn't come from this parent. The canine really hoped against hope that his son wouldn't end up like the deranged woman that was so happily hugging him to death. Though, if he did turn out some shade of crazy he would know it absolutely wasn't his fault at all.
This still didn't change the current situation. Christopher knew full well that Mia was snickering over this and it would hang over his head for a long time. Somehow he would get pack at Mia for this. He didn't know how yet, but he would figure it out.

"Why would I want to do that?" Quinn's voice was genuinely confused. It was a happy time! They were in a happy hug, and her dear daughter had decided to join the hug, which was wonderful, and Mia was...well, he wasn't exactly joining them but he and Aph were in the same general vicinity of the hug, which was a good thing!
She jingled happily as she pulled him closer. If Christopher wasn't able to remove her (or get Mia and Aph to remove her) fairly soon, he'd probably find himself just a little short of breath.
--
Ari shifted to stand next to his mother (the red one, not the crazy one - though really, it could be argued that they were both a little insane), and watched the pile of three as it was sorted through by his brothers. Glancing up at Vessatha, he grinned and tried to appear at least a little calmer than the others.
"What do you think of him so far? Will he make a good addition to the family, or do you think he'll run?" He didn't know the man well enough to lay good money down yet, but considering he hadn't attempted to bolt away from under the pile that was his other mother and his sister, Ari thought he might actually survive, in one form or another. If Mia didn't kill him first, that was.
--
"Mama..." Aph sighed, exasperated. He should have known that it wasn't too dangerous, no matter what the rat had said when he'd pulled him down to the kitchens. "Mama Quinn, please get off of him." Who was he, anyway? Raising an eyebrow at Mia, he grabbed onto Sae gently, because she was on top, and began tugging her away first. "Is he a friend of yours?"

Vessatha stared, amused, at her mate's actions. She would go so far as to make sarcastic, borderline rude, comments at someone she'd just met, but physical contact just wasn't her style. Obviously, Quinn differed a bit there. She had to admit that it was highly entertaining to watch the Saluki being so blatantly uncomfortable; even better was that Mia was doing absolutely nothing to really help.
After a while though, the canine began looking angry, so she snickered and stepped forward slightly. "Quinn, let the boy breathe," She reprimanded lightly, then put a hand on the otter's shoulder. "Let's not asphixiate him before he's had a chance to hate us, hmm?" The ferret grinned down at Christopher in a delighted manner, then grabbed onto Quinn's arm and pulled hard enough to get her off.
After a few minutes, when it became obvious Quinn had no intention of moving without Vessatha's assistance, he gave up and went back to skulking around Aphasia. He had a feeling that he was going to pay for this later, regardless of it not being his fault; he tended to take the blame for things such as this. At his brother's question he blinked slowly, then coughed to cover his weak laugh. "Ah.. yeah. A friend." He replied significantly, wondering when Aph would pick up on the fact that Chris and Zether were of remarkably similar coloring, if you ignored the Torque and Kahmden. The purple and brown weren't easy to miss.
He sneaked a glance over at Chris, and was glad to see at least Quinn was off the man, if his sister wasn't. Saethre was at least smaller, since she was still in her animal, and her pregnancy hadn't added any significant weight. In theory, she'd be easy to remove.. but Christopher was just as skinny as he. It was too bad he only liked the skinny ones..

Christopher was mentally cursing, which was evident on his face. He smirked when Vessie gave him a rather sarcastic look. From what he had heard about her she was filled with sarcasm and a variety of other things. However he didn't expect her to be married to someone like this.
Someone who was utterly crazy and willing to crush the life out of him.
He was happy to get her off. His teeth were still bared. He looked down at the woman who was still clinging to him. "What part of get off do you not understand?"
He was sorely tempted to kick her in the face. The only problem was that she was latched on to him in such away that he couldn't move his legs properly. No, he had no problem kicking a pregnant woman if she was annoying and practically mauling him. This invasion of personal space was just.... argh.
Mia really was going to pay for this.
