Mirriam turned to frown at not-Zane. Don't touch what, exactly? It was an odd thing to say. "There's nothing really here...maybe we should leave," she suggested hesitantly, because this was just getting creepy. The cold, heavy weight of grief still hung over her, making part of her feel like just curling up in a little ball of pain. But these Cards needed her. She turned back to Morgan when it spoke, landing on the cot beside him and reaching out a wing to gently touch its face, frowning in confusion. It couldn't move its neck? That wasn't good at all, and Mirriam's ears went back in worry.
"Morgan..." she started to say, and then gasped as it knocked the picture frame down with a clatter. She moved to quickly help it up, only dimly paying attention to the actions of Ez and Not-Zane just then, more focused on her sibling. "If it hurts, maybe you should lie down, for now," she suggested. "I think that usually helps pain go away." She leaned forward to nuzzle her leaf-shaped nose against Morgan's cheek.

((The "Zane" creature tilted its head as something about Ez changed...a small smile twitching its beak edges spoke worlds about how much the creature seemed to appreciate this, stepping forward curiously, though exceedingly hesitant, keeping its back to the door in case it needed to bolt.
"I, um...I suppose..." It muttered, before Gigi let out a wail. It leaped backwards, claws clicking at the floor before snapping its head to the left with a tiny cry as the picture frame clattered to the floor. "Careful! Careful, please!" It cried, obviously upset, but unwilling to move away from the door now that it had been spooked. The Bat spoke and it gave a worried, eager nod. "Maybe...maybe, yes. Um, maybe you should." It nodded, jerkily, indicating the door. "That...would be nice, really...except maybe...um." He gave Ez another sideways glance before slipping gingerly another step back, placing his hand on the doorknob.
"I don't want to, um...hold you...up?" It whimpers, looking desperately at the picture frame; torn between running away and getting to it.))

Of course the giraffe had to cry. Of course things just had to fall apart. The sparrow took a deep breath and struggled to remain calm. The thing could bolt, and he didn't know where that door went. What he he lost the only thing that could potentially tell them what was going on.
He tried to keep one eye on the fake Zane as he glanced over his shoulder. What were they doing back there? What was wrong with Morgan. Gah. One problem at a time please. Hopefully his diamond charm would help smooth things over with the creature, Mirriam could handle Morgan. Hopefully. The poor girl. Then there was Gigi.
"Oh, you won't hold us up," he said as he slowly extended a hand to the creature. He really hoped he wouldn't regret that. "Come on, we got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you tell us what happened? I mean did you notice that there's something wrong with your head?"
The giraffe could hear the sparrow with the corset speaking to her Not-Maybe-Mommy. He was suddenly being very nice. Did this mean that Maybe-Not-Mommy was Mommy? That didn't make sense did it. There was something wrong with Morgan, and Mirriam was upset and and... what was going on? Ez was mad at her. She was sure he was. He always seemed up set with her. And did that mean her Mommy was upset with her too? Well he would be wouldn't he. She had killed him. "Mommy really must hate me," she whimpered as she tried to cover her head and not make a scene.

((The creature hesitated for second, before continuing to try to slide out of the room. It spares a glance and a look of pity toward the Giraffe. "He doesn't um, hate you...little girl." He whispered, looking a bit overwhelmed. "I mean, um...I..." Scratching at the back of his head and ruffling his wings.
He stared at Ez's hand, then up at Ez, then back at the hand. "My head? Um....no? I'm sorry...I have to go." He whispered, trying to get out of the room.
The picture frame sparked a bit when it hit the floor, sending a little flash of light and causing the "Zane" to freeze, staring at it. "Don't break it..." He whimpered.))

Gigi sniffed as she struggled not to wail or anything. She barely heard the soft confused words of the thing that looked like Zane. She paused for a moment to stare at him. But why was he leaving? She tried to rub the tears out of her eyes. This just needed to be over. Things just needed to be explained.
Ez was doing his best to remain calm. This was the only lead they had, and it wanted to leave the room. He kept his hand out as he waited. It refused. And then it stopped moving when something clattered to the floor. There was a flash of some sort? Was that his imagination? Something flickered. Ez shot a quick glance in the direction--a picture frame?--before turning back to the mirror image of his brother. It seemed to be upset.
Who knew where the door led. The sparrow took a deep breath, deciding to activate a spell on the thing, however strange it was, and grab for "Zane's" wrist with the intent to drag him into the room and keep him there. (18)
King's Ability: Once a week, he is now able to cause one other person to look exactly like himself for a full minute. This change will affect everything (voice, taste buds...) except for their mind and magical abilities. Their rank will even mirror his while like this.
( OOC: .... my dice are on fire tonight. Also, I wholly disapprove of Ez's idea. )

((The creature shivered, gave another quick glance at everything in the room, and then began turning as though to flee when something hit it. A tingle spread all along its spine, evidenced by its shiver...and then, with a few pops, it changed. Into Ez.
Beak falling open, it gaped at its hands, then its new corset, then its new rank, then at Ez. Flaring its new wings it balked. "Doesn't work like that." It mumbled, seeming dazed, not even trying to move when Ez grabbed its hand, a grin spreading across the features. "It's better! It's so much better! How did you do it?! Can I, um, can I do it too?" Suddenly seeming to be exploding with excitement, it jumps in place and then tries to hug Ez, letting out a strangled chirp. "It's so much better than mine! How did you do it!?"))

Mirriam jumped a bit as the picture frame clattered the final few feet to the floor and let off a spark and a flash of light that made circles appear in front of her eyes. She blinked them away and looked around dizzily, large ears pressed back. She suppressed a small tremble. Part of her just wanted to take Morgan and get out of here, but another part of her wanted to help Ez because he was nice, and yet another part of her was curious about what exactly was going on. "Just...lie down," she whispered to Morgan, leaning over to give it a small kiss on its forehead like she could very vaguely recall her parents doing when she was young.
Her ears flicked as she turned and fluttered next to Gigi, intending to comfort the girl...when she heard what not-Zane was saying, and turned in confusion. Brown eyes widened as Not-Zane suddenly looked like Ez, and her ears flicked forward and then back, as she felt curiosity war with fear. Curiosity won out, and she listened to Not-Ez speak and wondered what he was talking about. Well, he certainly wasn't a Joker, since it seemed like somehow -Ez- had caused the creature to look like him.
This raised so many questions, and Mirriam opened her mouth to ask them, but thought better of it a moment later and closed it.

Gigi managed to see the young bat out of the corner of her eye. She perked a bit, rubbing a bit more out of her eyes. And then she saw something very strange. There were two Ez's. Her face twisted into confusion and her head tilted to the side.
The sparrow caught the not!Zane's arm with no effort. He blinked in mild confusion at the reaction he was getting. Honestly he was hoping to stun it. He didn't expect it to be so... happy. He let go of its wrist when it started getting... happier.
And he didn't have time to stop it from hugging him, he was far too confused. "Oh well I... um..." He said trying to muster up his diamond charm. It was quite clear that this thing wasn't Zane. "It's my King ability. I don't use it very often."
He lightly hugged the thing and patted him on the shoulder. "You're obviously not my brother, but you seem like a very sweet person. I'm sorry about earlier."
This was so very awkward.

Opening its mouth to hesitantly speak, Morgan stopped with his muzzle half-poised and craned its entire neck awkwardly to the side so that it could see what had just flashed like that. The picture frame? It was the only thing on the floor where the flash would have come from.
And the bird seemed to be paying a lot of attention to it. Embarrassment made its way through the mix's discomfort and confusion. "Sorry," it mumbled awkwardly. Mirriam's affection was received with further confusion, so different from her previous actions towards him and yet... welcome. Yes. Very welcome. If its neck wasn't frozen, it would have nudged at her lightly. But really, it was more likely to gore her at the moment without being able to see its antlers.
Taking a hesitant breath, it angled its body downward to retrieve the bizarre frame. It didn't want to break things on top of everything else. All of this chaos and such a confused mess... it didn't... no.
It attempted to delicately pick up the frame the the only means of dexterity available to it - its carefully extended mouth. Then it would put the little thing back on the table and flop on the bed, it was certain, to relax its neck. Or try to. Whatever was happening to it.

((When Morgan picked up the picture-frame, he felt a little catch on the back with his tongue...how odd...wonder if there's something in it?
Another spark went off after he set it down, smaller than before, though the new "Ez" doesn't seem to notice. The creature released Ez, running its hands over the back of its head and grinning so broadly that it nearly looked mad. "It doesn't hurt! That, um...that was amazing! How did you do it? I-" It stopped at the other Sparrow's words, looking a bit...abashed. "No...no, I'm not. I was supposed t-" It bit back the words. "It's ok...I'm just, um...well, who are you? Why are you in my room?"
It glances around at them all again, taking in Mirriam curiously. "Are you the only girl? I'm not supposed to work with girls."))
