Davy didn't look, he outright -stared- at Tabby. Was she crazy? She certainly seemed insane enough, talking about being able to see ghosts and somesuch. Not that Davy didn't believe in ghosts but… Not everyone who claimed such a thing necessarily was all right in the mind. His mother had only ever been able to see one without some help from the occult.
"So ya be seein' ghosts?" Davy asked the girl tentatively. Such a young girl. Maybe they were just imaginary friends. Or not. "Are you able to actually talk to em?"
Then it suddenly occurred to him. "Migad!" Davy exclaimed, reaching into a satchel to bring out a small tin box. within it, were several tufts of hair bound by different colored chords. He took a tightly coiled strand of pink and gave it a deep sniff.
(( Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, he can communicate with another Card he is acquainted with of any suit besides Diamond by sniffing a detached lock of their hair or patch of their fur. They will hear him in the back of their minds and may not at first realize that they're being contacted, but after a minute will doubtless notice the communication and can respond back. He receives their words as if spoken underwater, making them hard to understand on his end. He can hold a connection for up to ten minutes and cannot contact the same person more than once per day.
Contacting: Zuberi.
Just let me know if he's able to get through or not. XD And.. maybe might be good to know where Zuberi is at or if she even knows. XD))

Suits, was everyone mental tonight? The Queen seemed the most normal, but he was drunk and that was clear through smell alone. The child spouted nonsense about ghosts and seemed prone to rambling, and the Midori seemed a gullible sort to even begin to ask her that question.
And then sniff some hair. Hopefully that was an ability and not a fetish or a tick or something. The Officer closed her eyes for a moment and just breathed.
Tabby twisted around so that she could get a good, long look at the green chipmunk and then nodded fevently. "Ohhh yes, I can talk to them! But not all the time. Just sometimes. Mommy says I go all wonky when I do it and I believe him because people gave me weird looks when I did it once when one of the shopkeeps was sort of watching me. Asked if I was okay. Only... only I'm not supposed to talk about it to just anybody, but if you help me find my Mommy then you're not just anybody, you're somebody and probably somebody special and I would really, really, reeeeeeally appreciate it like forever!"
When he let out an exclamation, she jerked back and her eyes got wide. "What?!" she asked excitedly.

Zuberi didn't hear it at first... the persistent tickling at the back of her mind that she heard quite rarely. She blinked, looking over to Davy. "Did you say something?"
Davy shrugged, transfixed with some trinket she'd bought him in the Bazaar.
"Mom? Where are you?"
Zuberi stiffened in her seat, cutting her eyes back toward Davy. His lips weren't moving.
"Mom? I'm at the Bazaar! Where are you? Everyone is gone!"
"What.. wha'are you saying? You're sitting here. Right next to me. Right now on a carriage on the way home!" She thought frantically, cutting her enigmatic eyes toward her "son"
... Sitting.. Next to me. Carriage. Her voice was garbled, like she was underwater. He couldn't make out everything she was saying, but at least could hear the jist of it.
"... That isn't me."
Zuberi lurched backwards to look over her shoulder. They had just left the capital.. it should still be in sight, but it wasn't it was nothing but road and trees. Something was happening. "It's okay baby.. stay there. I'll come find you."
.... Murmuring. 'come find you.' "I don't think that would do much good. I think we're not -here- any more. It's like I'm ghosted.. but I'm not. But these people are as real as you and me. We're... going to have to find our way out."
Zuberi covered her mouth with a hand, keeping back the sobs that threatened to choke out of her. She needed to keep it together. She didn't want to tip off this.... creature next to her.
"Davy" looked up from his seat. "Everythin' alright, ma?"
"Fine. Everythin's... fine."
Near panic was on the real Davy's face now, one clawed finger lifted up to silence the others as he listened intently to his mother's voice. "Stay calm, mom. I'll find a way home. Keep an eye on this... other me. Let me know if he tries somethin' funny. Be safe."
Davy took a step back. from what... he wasn't sure. Numbly, he fumbled with his tin container and put it back in his satchel. "Guys. My mother says I'm in a carriage with her. Obviously, this isn't bein' the case. We are not -here- right now. We.. are somewhere else."

Fetu and Tabby were both treated to one side of a conversation. The copper could only assume - she had to assume, really, with how the night was going - that the young man used a Club ability to speak to his mother.
All this talk of ghosts and dopplegangers and being 'somewhere else' set her teeth on edge and her skin to prickling. Was everyone raving this evening?! Apparently.
But... but she did have to admit that the streets were abnormally quiet. And that people had disappeared from right beneath her nose. And that they were literally the only four people in the area just then. She really didn't know what to think.
"So we're not finding your mother right now. Fine. We still have to make some attempt to find this girl's. That entails walking. I'd like to head closer to the city center because it's arguably safer and more public there. If we can find anyone, it will be there." The rest of it would come as it came, and likely continue to drive her mildly over the edge.
Tabby wasn't over the edge. Tabby had calmed down somewhat from her anxiety before and was now more fascinated than anything else. This all sounded exciting. "So maybe Mommy's actually somewhere close by but he's in the real-person and not the here-now place? I thought I left the ghost-talking place. And you all seem really alive, so I guess I did. So maybe I learned how to go to a new place! Which means if I walk... huh. How does that work?" She pondered the dilemma, still somewhat attached to the Hisstor but now distracted and loosening her grip.

Davy snorted, crabbing his teeth together with agitation at the Copper. Just as his mother had told him, some authorities just tend to hear what they want to hear and deduce their own ideas of right and wrong. No wonder there wasn't much of an established police system in the village he was from. Wouldn't it be great if there were rulers who listened to the -people- for a change?
"It be what I'm t'inkin." Davy affirmed to the young girl. He really hated it that the person who seemed to be in the same boat as he was… was crazy. That didn't say much for his own state of mind.
He stood, resolute for a moment as he decided for himself whether this cop actually knew what the hell she was doing. Probably not, but even if finding this girl's parents were unlikely, perhaps there were others who were ported into this world. Either way, if there were ghosts or any other sort of monsters, it might be beneficial to amass their own army of real flesh and powers. Poltergeists could be a nasty thing.
"Alright. Sounds like a plan. Well yer Highness." He looked to the queen of clubs and gestured. "P'haps you can aid us with that nifty light of yours as we make our way into the depths of this town."

A thought occurred to Fetu as they began walking. She knew of a pub and inn near a very populated area of the city that might be a good place to settle the girl while they searched for her mother. Carting a child throughout the streets on a strange night wouldn't be a good idea. Whether they were in "another place" or not, they were more liable to find people where people generally congregated. Pubs in the evening seemed like a good candidate for that. And if it was deserted, they could just move on.
Besides, she vaguely remembered Rodney mentioning one of the employees as an informant of some sort. They might be able to help if they were... there.
Tabby let go of the chipmunk entirely for a minute, seeming to waver in her thoughts and actions. Animal forms needed to walk with all their feet. It wouldn't be nice of her to cling. Instead, she took the tall heron's hand and skipped along beside him. He had the light, anyway, and that made things better.
The streets were just so quiet...

Sabe looked to the teen and wondered at the words that he was speaking. To him it made no since at all. How could they be one place and not be there at all? Was there something happening in the city that he didn't know about or couldn't even understand? It was possiable.... suits... he knew that things that were told as children lore was fake... but he himself had meet a rabbit once, and that made him wonder at some of the other things that could be real as well. So maybe, just maybe... things were as the teen said.
Could they be their own spirits, in a different place and time?
He took his hand to his forehead as he he felt the headache tighten about his head... his eyes hurt and it just wasn't helping at all. Things were just too complicated at the moment. Nothing fit into the puzzle quite yet... and with that said: He would just have to take one step at a time.
He nodded to the child and the police woman and walked with the child in hand. Wait... when did the child grab his hand? He shook his feathers a bit and just left it to him still being intoxicated. At least the child stopped her wailing and decided to be in a more cheerful mood, which helped out much on his migraine.
"Yes... the center of town... Seeming that the pubs seem active and the inn's would be that one of them might be of use to settle down for a moment... and so I can get something to eat to get his alchole out of my system." he said as he let the ball of light follow just above his head as he walked with her in his left hand and his cane in his right.
He always made sure though to look around when possible... wouldn't help if something jumped out at him.

The further they walked, the more uneasy Fetu grew. She had been making her rounds through the Capitals for two hours now and things had not looked like this before. Things had been normal. There had been people. The further they walked, the more she felt disconnected from everything outside of their bizarre little group. For comfort and as an experiment of sorts, she murmured a halt to their group and then summoned her familiar. The Mome appeared as he normally would, giving her a glare and flumping down tiredly on the paved street. "Come stand close by and stay alert," she told him, an order which only strengthened the force of his evil glare but that he followed to the letter. At least magic wasn't thrown completely upside down. Familiars were still summonable. Too bad she was the only Spade. Her speed would only do her so much good if something... happened. Because she could not in good conscience leave this group behind for long, especially since she didn't know if help would be forthcoming. Her gloomy thoughts were apparently not shared by the young girl, who squealed happily when Mezra appeared on the street beside them and clapped her hands over her mouth once, gleefully. "I wish I had a summon," she said wistfully, watching him trundle along with the group as they resumed their previous pace. Once or twice Fetu could have sworn that she heard sounds coming from some of the alleys they passed. It made her fur twitch and shiver down her back. She sent Mezra out twice to investigate. Once he returned with a rodent carcass, which he was in the process of eating. The second time he returned calmly and with no particular emotion besides 'grump'.

Davy walked on, tail flicking in an alert manner that he usually wasn't in. As a Midori, he usually found it easier to lead a relaxed life that belied his more rodentlike nature.
"This… just idn't very fruitful a search so far." Davy said with an aggravated sigh. The streets were so -empty-. They hadn't even found so much as other stragglers. "How much further till we're there, anyhow?"
With how empty the streets were, he could hardly recognize them. It was as if without the normal life it had, it wasn't like the city he was more familiar with at all.
It probably isn't the same city. Davy thought to himself, looking over his shoulder warily. The drunk heron was stumbling along, tailed by the strange and simple minded little girl.
And the officer… well. She was doing her own thing, a strange little Mome scouting ahead and coming back with nothing. Idly, he branched out somewhat from the group, no more than a few paces to idly look down the dark alleyways to see if he saw something at a glance.

((The day seems to be getting prematurely darker and an interesting smell is wafting toward them...smells like...taffy? Weird. The smell seems especially tantalizing to Tabby...look out, she might follow it, and tracking someone in this "weather" looks like it might become impossible rather quickly. The smell seems to be emanating from a small shoppe on their left...a candy store? Ooooh! Awesome! Well, there's no one around, so who's to say they can't go in and have a poke around, right? Up to them. Regardless, it looks like Tabby wants in, it's full of candy and other delicious little pasties, all sitting out in the cases and along the counter. Freshly made and completely abandoned. The door was open when they approached it and- hey! What was that? Something small and black...maybe a tiny rat? Scurried in the door when they approached... Anyway, you should all see if you're going in or not, you're pretty close to your goal, but it does smell awfully nice in here...))
