"Soon," Fetu replied absently to Davy's frustrated question. She felt about the same, really, with a much more healthy dose of paranoia to top things off. She had seen more during her time as an Officer than she might care to admit and it had given her a warier outlook on the city when things were going wrong. Very, very wrong.
Eventually she realized whan an annoyingly unhelpful answer that was. The girl helped her gain this insight. "That doesn't mean much of anything," Tabby told her with a small frown, young face looking up and to the side as she walked with Sabe.
"Maybe ten minutes," she tried instead, glad when the child seemed to take that. Young ones didn't have much concept of time anyway. Her own was being thrown off by how damn quickly the sky was darkening. Not that this was a bad thing for her in particular, but when night seemed to fall more quickly for the entire city then there was a problem and it suddenly became everybody's. Didn't it? She could only presume.
And that was when the problem started.
The little nose went up. Sniff. Sniff sniff sniff. Sniiiiiiiff. With a small, excited whine, Tabby's head craned this way and that, trying to detect the source of that incredible smell that suddenly wafted across the street. It smelled like sweet, delicious, buttery candy, the kind that she almost never got because it was expensive. The smell got bad - or good - enough that she started leaning towards it, almost dragging her makeshift 'guardian'. In a moment of sudden weakness, she slipped her hand out of the bird's and scampered towards the shop, her eyes wide with delight when she realized that the door was open. She missed the small shape entirely.
Fetu did not. Fetu saw the shape, and the girl, and the door, and the recipe for disaster that had just made itself apparent. Losing a set of parents was one thing. Losing someone's lost child was another. And she did not want to lose this child, not with how seemingly innocent and naive she was. Not with the city in whatever state it seemed to be in. No. Nooo, no. Absolutely not.
"Wait! Stop! Hold on! Hey - just wait a minute!" All of that seemed to be useless in the face of the child's blind enthusiasm. Was this girl just special? If so, she was going to sic someone from the station on her parents and watch the fireworks. Grinding her teeth in frustration, she glanced back at the other two, made a vague gesture at the shop, and then scurried after Tabby.

As the fingers slipped out of his clawed hand did he quickly turn his head to see where the child had started to run off to. He saw the candy shop and then that was when it hit him. The smells were all so fresh and he could almost taste them just from that alone. He started to take a step towards it but stopped to watch her go towards the door. He then quickly followed after her trying to stop her before she entered. After all, it was wrong to take something that doesn't belong to you in the first place, right?
"Hey child! Wait don't..." and she went through the door just as soon as the copper said the same thing... he saw what she wanted to do and nodded... lifting his cane in his hand ready for the worst if the case need be. All the while as his head started to clear up bit by bit, spells and regulations on them started to flood his mind waiting for the right moments if need be to use them.
He rushed after making sure that the other teen was going to come as well. It wouldn't be right to have everyone get sepperated again just to have to find them again and waste their time trying to figure out what was happening.
He would then step through the door after the copper.

Tabby continued on, heedless of the danger. The smell drew her in like a magnet! It was so incredible, like first thing in the morning by the market only a million times more full of sugar and delicious! She could see them gleaming in the window and see them even closer and more amazingly as soon as she ran inside. It made her almost vibrate with delight. Her attention was completely and utterly caught!
As Fetu ran inside after her, she grabbed for the girl's arm, but Tabby just slipped away like a squealing little eel and ran to press herself against the counter. Why had someone left this shop open and abandoned with merchandise still on display? As weird as anything else happening in the city right now. But the girl could apparently wriggle her arm inside and actually move the pastries, so-
What was that?!
The chipmunk froze as something darted past her into the shop, her skin crawling for a moment at the thought of vermin. She had woken up to more than her fair share of them while she was living as a nomad and she wasn't especially eager to renew her acquaintance. Also, she could imagine an irate shop owner appearing at any moment (if only!) and cursing them for starting an infestation.
"Tabby, you need to come back here," she hissed quietly, but the girl just gave her a Look and reached for another pastry.

((Tabby seems to have eaten something a little funny and then bolted out of the shoppe and away, lost in the fog and away to her Mommy...hopefully, and Davy seems to have wandered off and gotten lost somehow....))
Candy Nose: The little candy packet leaped off the table with enough force to quite literally punch them in the face. After experiencing an incredible pain for upwards of three minutes, the agony will vanish...as has any sign of the candy. Their nose, however, has become as bright a green as the taffy-looking substance and smells delightful! It...it's made of the taffy?!? Oh, that's just wrong. Once a day now, they are able to cause up to three people ranked King or lower (Or Does and Leverets) to only be able to smell and taste the overwhelming and overpowering scent of taffy, a flavor of the caster's choosing. The caster must have had a direct whiff of their intended victim's scent in order to cast this spell and it lasts up to 4 full hours once cast. The caster's nose is, however, taffy. If eaten...well, no one really wants to see what would go on if that happened, now do they?
((In the meantime, Conall wanders by...he sounds awfully miserable. Lucius and Malachoir caught him while they were enjoying a drink downtown. They recently made a deal with a rather...interesting Wolf from a Realm they didn't quite recognize by the name of Zacharias. He convinced them to invest in a little project that he promised would put Hearts and Spades on the map and...take care of the less valuable Courts... They caught the little Heart and have been, a bit roughly, keeping him in line until they can return him to his "proper owner" as they recognized him as a child of the Hearts King.))

Crap.Conall sniffed rather pathetically as he was being ushered somewhere. They had said something about the King of Hearts or something. He had left the other group only to find a more hostile set of people. And they didn't seem to want to take no for an answer. Not like he was the most threatening of people when he was a little lost and more than a little confused. "Where are we going?" he said as he tried to slow his pace. It would be annoying at least, and might get a straight answer out of someone. He could throw a tantrum, but that cane looked like a threat in itself. Suits only knew what the gentlemen was actually capable of doing to him. Especially on a strange night like this. He let out a rather pathetic sounding whimper combined with a mew. Why couldn't he just be left alone?

((Nafa, would you like the item? I'm playing Fetu off as though she wasn't affected by it. <3))
The look on the child's face after stuffing her maw with something sweet and sticky was enough to make Fetu balk for a moment, holding back in case...
In case what? She made an aggravated noise in the back of her throat and moved forward again, but it was far too late. With the most bizarre expression, the girl bolted from the shop and the Officer was left little option besides groaning and running back after her. By the time she made it outside, however, there was literally no trace of the girl named Tabby.
What?! Even with her sunglasses on to block any residual or sudden light, Fetu didn't think the girl could have darted away that fast. She literally didn't know which direction to go! Just like everyone else disappearing that evening. The fur along her spine prickled uncomfortably and itched beneath her exposed ribs, a sure sign of unease.
Before she could turn around to ask the Queen if he had some clue, or try to catch sight of the young Midori who didn't seem to be especially close at hand, a noise to the left caught and held her attention.
That... that didn't sound especially good. At all. Maybe she shouldn't have wished to find other people in this mess? With another shiver, she tucked closer to the side of the building and held very still in the dark, chill fog.

<<Sure I'll take it, thank you Jenn>>
Once he was in and started to look around for the little girl did he realize that something was up. He quickly looked around just to find out that he was just in time to get smacked in the face with something that smelled like taffy. It hurt something fierce as he quickly got up from the floor, his first concerns were that of the small child that seemed to have gone missing as he looked around for her. He ducked out of the shop to find that they were empty of both Tabby and the teen.
He raised his hand to his beak and slid it down, how could he have been soo careless? To have let two charges vanish like all the others. That was when he felt something kinda odd. He looked down his beak and low and behold... his nostrils were green... He slid back against the wall in amazement as he tried to wonder what it could be... and the smell... it was taffy... He took a tentatively light touch of his claw to touch it and found it sorta squishy.
He looked up to Fetu... "I do believe that I have a strong dislike for Taffy now..." he said with a bit of a chuckle as he reached down to collect his cane and walked up next to the officer. "Did they vanish like all the others?" he asked as he rubbed his now green nose holes... He then caught a glance of something moving down the street. He tapped the officer on the shoulder and pointed... "Do you see what I see?" he asked as he gripped his cane lightly in his hands.
Could this person be the cause of the fog here in the capital? And how apparently their bodies where else where and where they were here? Wondering souls... or replaced by something worse.

Malachior remained somewhat reserved for the majority of the night, allowing the conceited serpent to do most of the talking. It seemed to suit the narcissistic Tulgey, for he manged to fill the majority of the afternoon with some form of conversation or another with little input from the Spade King. It gave Malachior time to think, time to properly consider the investment he'd made with Zacharias. He knew of the man through the grapevine of his associates but the approval of one's friends did not lend perfect certainty and though he supported the man's ultimate goal there was no saying the course of events would not anger a certain Tulgey Queen with whom he kept close associations. Suits help him if he managed to indirectly anger the sadistic crow. Before he could begin to dwell on possibilities of the crow's vengeful anger, they stumbled upon Conall. Lucius recognized the strange Heart almost immediately as one of the Heart noble's children and Malachior welcomed the distraction from the man's surprising distaste for everything outside of himself. It was quickly decided that they would return the boy to his home at the Palace first thing in the morning -- whether or not the boy agreed. Lucius was obviously interested in getting in with the nobles and Malachior was intrigued to see how the whole bit would play out. Lucius sneered down his nose at the boy as he started whining and dragging his feet. Suits he despised children! "I will only say this once, so do not ask again. We'll be staying at a nearby inn for the evening and returning to the Court of Hearts in the morning to return you to your father." The serpent's words were cold and clipped with a look that insisted that no further questions be asked. It wasn't until they passed by a strange pair of cards that Lucius really became aware of how devoid of life the street was. The serpent arched a brow, examining the pair to discover a Hisstor Chipmunk with her ribs on the outside and a Kahmden Heron with bright green nostrils. How disturbing. The Tulgey sniffed in disgust and turned pointedly away. Ignore the foul miscreants and they would not bother him. Hopefully. Regardless, the best bet would be to pick up the pace and get to the Inn before they could be pestered by strange bums. He gave the youth a quick prod with his cane. "Now pick up the pace and stop dragging you're fit. We're nearly to the Inn."

Ow. Conall's automatic reaction was to hiss at the snake when he was prodded. If he was the son of a noble he didn't have to take the bullshit did he? Couldn't he actually use that to his advantage? They were pretty sure that he was, and Arkady had said something about it... with that other group. Hopefully Arkady was all right. He seemed nice.
"You do realize that I can tell my father everything you're doing to me and he'll believe me, right?" He said as he crossed his arms. He honestly had no idea if what he was saying was true or not, but it sounded like a decent threat. That was about the time when he noticed the other people. A rather strange looking Hisstor, which perked his interest, and a Club. His nose wrinkled in distaste. Maybe one of them would step up and stop them?
Conall decided to stop walking entirely. That would show the stupid snake to stop treating him like an idiot just because he was a child. He wasn't someone's property regardless of who his parents actually were.

Sabe hadn't caught sight of the other until he had made his presence known by seemingly bullying the other card. He couldn't identify the cards rank since he was wearing clothing, though he quickly dismissed the fact. This was a terrible time to be snooty or rich. Something was up and it was always safer to travel with others in times of crises.
So he decided to take a step forward, not in the way of the snake, but in order to make his presence known since the other seemed to want to side step him completely. He cleared his throat and spoke in nice even tones. "Excuse me sir." he said as he leaned lightly on his cane feeling the ebb of his past drunkenness fading away.
Things were getting bad so he guessed that he had to do something. His mind raced and that was when he noticed that the other bog dweller seemed to have stopped completely. Sabe thought that maybe there was some animosity between the two... maybe his kind nature took over, or his curse of getting into the middle of such affairs seemed to be working along side him today.
"I dare say that it is a rather foggy night... and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind helping me out." he said as he quickly formed the thoughts running through his mind. He guessed he would have to gamble on it... else this person was just going to walk away and seem to fade like the rest of the people he had seen. "Oh... where is my manors... I'm Sabe, Queen of the Court of Clubs, and this happens to be my first stroll through the capital." he said as he looked around. "I had thought I was going the right way when I found myself lost here... hopefully this kind officer seemed to be here as well and tried to help me... though... sadly to say its her first week on duty and the fog seemed to jumble up her direction." he said in the kindest way that he could muster... he knew all too well how these folk where, so he decided that he would attempt to keep them close being how it was right now.
He gave a smile at the two before speaking once more, "Mind helping me out? I think that there is a rather nice inn somewhere around here... though we just cannot seem to find it." He straitened up now his wings arched behind him folded down, his cane in his left hand ready to use at a moments notice.
