Her ears kept moving, slowly pinpointing the exact location of the bird. Finally she opened her eyes, looking in the direction her ears and mind were telling her to...and she squinted. But then the sound moved, and she was back to nothing. She sighed a little bit, "I keep hearing it...but I can't see it." Maybe the creature knew they were looking for it. It was very likely, wildlife seemed to be alot smarter then cards sometimes. They still had primal senses that the cards had somehow almost completely abandoned in their evolution. She laughed a little, "Well...at least it isn't going away...We can still hear it sing anyway..." she said...then growing quiet, so that they could listen to the sounds of the forest...and the hiding bird above them.
She could hear the scuttling of bugs and rodents as they busied themselves on the floor of the forest, tree branches breaking and shaking and being blown by the wind somewhere off in the distance, and above the both of them, the sound of the little bird singing it's heart out. "Who do you think it's calling for? Or do you think it's just singing because it wants to?" she turned her head to look at him, an edge of her mouth delicately upturning into an almost unnoticable smile. She didn't correct his tail against her thigh...loving the feel of it...and wishing she was brave enough to touch him back.

It does have that thick expanse of leaves to flutter about it ... we might not ever see it.
But to be perfectly honest, he didn't mind. He was just enjoying being out in the woods, surrounded by nothing but nature and of course Ilana. Just laying here flat on his back and enjoying the earth's gifts with her made him happy, it was rare that he found someone who enjoyed such simple things that was willing to spend so much time with him. And he was starting to noticeably relax as they chatted about the little bird.
It's probably looking for it's mate ... it's late spring, but a clutch could still survive before it gets to hot.
He rested his tail on the ground against her, happy that she didn't seem to mind his careful little touches. He wanted to move in closer but .... he was far to shy for that. He could content himself with this, though, and a little smile had made it's way back to his maw.

She simply nodded. The trees were very thick. A sign of a healthy and flourishing forest. She liked the sound of that. Ilana couldn't help but feel relaxed as well. For once there was nothing awkward being talked about, nothing that was making them both blush and act like idiots. Not that Tavor acted like an idiot, but well...she most certainly did, which made her blush all the more whenever she did. The smell of pine was relaxing, and the only thing that she had to keep from doing was rolling up next to Tavor and snuggling into his side. She was to shy to do it, and in a way, just knowing they were touching in the smallest way was fine for her.
"Do you think that bird mated for life?" she asked, once again not really paying attention to what she was saying, though she really didn't catch any deeper meaning. It was an honest question. Most of the wildlife she knew about didn't mate for life, but she had heard that wolves..and some birds did. It seemed a perfectly innocent question in her mind. She turned her head to look at the water, watching as the top of the water reflected the rays of the sun through the trees, somtimes shinning like little stars along the clear waters. "I almost don't care that the water is to cold...It looks so horribly inviting...Don't you think?"

I'd have to see it ... then again ... I still might not know. I know flowers yeah .... not so much about birds.
He laughed softly, stretching out fully in the grass and he closed his eyes .... simply enjoying the sounds of the birds and the sunlight that was warming his body. He drew in a deep breath, relishing in the scents of the outdoors, before breathing it out again in a sigh of contentment. He lived for moments like this and well ... he almost forgot she was there ... almost.
Mmmm?
He tilted his head to the side and opened one eye to peer at her curiously for a moment before it hit him what she was talking about... the water! That's right ... they were filthy and part of the reason they'd come here was to bath and .... eat! He'd completely forgotten that they hadn't even had breakfast yet, and his stomach growled to emphasize the point. He opened his other eye after that and chuckled softly ....
Maybe breakfast first?
They'd probably get dirty hunting berries down anyhow, right?

She nodded a bit in reguards to the bird. She should have figured he wouldn't be able to tell without seeing. But she didn't know, she figured maybe the song would be a tell tale sign, but as Tavor said, he knew more about plants then birds. She continued to watch the stream sparkle. Not paying much attention to what Tavor was doing. She couldn't help it...she didn't like the way that the mud was clinging to her fur, and she wanted it cleaned.
When his stomach growled though, she turned to face him again. Maybe food wouldn't be a bad idea. Besides, they needed energy if they were going to travel to the nearest town any time soon. She started moving to get up, and nodded at Tavor, "Breakfast might be best...you sound hungry." she said with a small smile, looking around. She stood up and streched her legs again, looking down at Tavor as he lay on the ground, waiting for him to get up so they could start their berry finding quest. "Do you know what berries are native to this region?" maybe if she knew a little she could look around.

W-well I haven't eaten since .... suits, breakfast yesterday.
He blinked a bit in surprise as he sat up, little pieces of grass sticking to his fur. It really had been that long scone he'd eaten, hasn't it? He was surprised he was so coherent today ... especially after everything that had happened yesterday. Yes, food was top of the list for him right now.
Well ... no ... but I'm not completely useless! I can tell what's poisonous and what's not when we find some!
He laughed softly as he got up and brushed himself off a bit, not like it would do his appearance any good right now. He peered over at his cape, still dripping so ... not going to be dry anytime soon, damn. He looked around again ... well, at the very least most of the plants near by that weren't trees were bushes .... which could potentially have berries and .. .wait! He had a nose ... one that worked pretty well, especially when he was motivated. What motivation was better then hunger? At this moment... none.
He shifted down to his animal form, not even thinking twice about it really, and started sniffing at the air, tail tip twitching. Being this close to the ground would bring him more at their breakfast's level and he'd be able to catch the scent quicker. His little nose wiggled, whiskers doing the same and then he started to move, hoping Ilana would follow.

At the mention of yesterday's breakfast, Ilana's own stomach growled, as if to remind her that it was the last time she had eaten as well. She blushed. Guess they both had rumbling stomachs. "I'm....guilty of the same..." she said with a bit of an anxious chuckle. She cleared her throat a bit. At Tavor's next words her eyes went wide. Oh dear! She hadn't meant to give him that impression! She shook her head violently, "Oh no! I never thought you were! I was just wondering if there would be berries in particular that we should be looking for." she blushed a deep red with her embarassment.
She looked around again, trying to cover up her blushing a bit. After all, she and Tavor didn't need to go into another 'who can blush the most' contest, which she just knew would happen. They were both to shy for their own good. It was then that Tavor began changing shape, his bipedal form smoothly changing into his animal form, "Wow...you've really gotten shifting down to an art! That was so fluid!" she was impressed. She had always hoped to get her bipedal eventually...but it was coming along a lot slower then she had intended for it to.
Seeing Tavor in his animal form made Ilana smile very broadly, "Oh Tavor...you are so adorible!" she said as she began following him. He was so small! She wanted to pounce him and cuddle him like she had done with her brothers when she was small. The idea was all to tempting...

Her reaction should have made him feel guilty .. .but instead he laughed again and looked over his shoulder at her, smiling.
It was my attempt at humor love .. no worries!
He flicked his tail and went back to scanning for berries, completely oblivious to the little pet name's ability to be confused for anything else right now ... or perhaps he hadn't even realized he'd said it?
It gets easier when you've got a lot of practice.
Aha! He smelt something delicious.... and it was rather close to! He started to skitter toward the sent when his ears caught her compliment and he stopped mid-run .... which only made him fall flat on his face with an off. And, of course, he was blushing like mad all over again. She'd just called him adorable, hadn't she? Oh how he did not take compliments well ...

"Oh...well...I guess I should learn to take things less literally." she said, relieved that she had been wrong about insinuating horrible things. She still blushed nonetheless, but it quickly disappeared. She hadn't noticed the pet name. Her family used endearments often, and seeing how her and Tavor were...well...hopefully...friends, such a name would go by unnoticed. She followed close behind him looking around herself, sniffing here and there, and listening out for smaller animals that might be making chewing noises, trying to make herself as useful as possible. "I've been trying to learn how to shift into bipedal form....I'm...not very good. How long have you had your form?"
She noticed the excitment spread over Tavor. Maybe he had found something! She hurried up behind him, when suddenly he stopped dead in his tracks. She giggled as she didn't have enough time to stop and quickly leapt over him. She was feeling a bit playful, and as soon as she slowed, she turned around and put herself in a playbow, once again jumping over him with her graceful legs. She nudged him with her nose and jumped back. Again she giggled.

Um... since I was about 20 or so I guess.
He honestly didn't' really remember.. .he'd had it for awhile now. He'd practiced and practiced every day since he turned eighteen until he finally managed ... but he never was good at telling time. He knew seasons and such, but he didn't remember when things happened all that well.
When she first jumped over him he was terrified and trembled in fear for a moment before he, sort of, understood what was happening. He knew she wasn't going to hurt him, but her strange actions had him terribly curious. He stayed on the ground, tail curled and ears forward and when she went into that ply bow, well, he tilted his head turning into the picture of complete and utter confusion.
By all The Queens ... What are you doing Ilana?
He'd never learned how to play considering he'd pretty well been alone on the streets and ... worrying about a myriad of other things until he was roughly eleven. fending for your life on a daily basis just didn't leave much room for play so he had no idea what she was doing nor what he should be doing in return.
