Yes ... maybe it is.
He'd been in such a rut lately and that's part of why he'd decided to go to Kahmden in the first place to chase some possibly non-existent rose ... he just needed to do something.... different. He still worried about Anatolius, but with the kids around, or at the very least Nova, he didn't think the man would have enough time to think about the darker parts of his life. Then again that's the type that he was ... he worried about everyone at home at different time just ... some more then others. But he'd be putting his worries aside until he returned home, for now he would simply enjoy this vacation ... and new beginning.
Just don't let them offend you ... Cas is overly friendly, Kat is horribly shy and Vesper ... well ... she can be a little rude.
He couldn't shake the smile on his face ... not even when mentioning the odd ways of his children. Vesper's attitude was still a mystery to him but he had to guess it was his fault ... somehow. Attitudes weren't ... genetic were they? If they were then maybe ... that was one downfall of not knowing your parents ... not knowing what to expect.
A cheerful little laugh escaped his maw when she licked his cheek and he response was for him to put an arm around her somewhat cautiously. It was going to take him a little while more to relax and freely give affection ... but this had already been a big step toward him lightening up a bit.

She nodded slightly at his words, truely full of smiles. "Don't worry so much! I know how to handle my own against children. I was a child once you know...and so were my siblings...if four of them didn't train me for dealing with children I don't know what could have." she laughed a bit, trying to sooth the rat mix a bit. Tavor did seem to like it when she laughed, and really...the sound of it in her own head was soothing. Not just soothing...but exhilerating too. The whole situation was like a miniture rollercoaster ride. It wasn't fullblown just yet..but it was that wonderful blossoming feeling that the beginning usually had.
She was suprised when he joined her in giggling. It put a big smile across her features. Had she heard him laugh yet? Like this? If she had...she had forgotten. It was like experiencing everything all over again. She leaned into him and sighed happily as he wrapped his arm around her. It was cautious, but still, that was Tavor...and would be until he felt more comfortible with her. She knew it would take time...and she was happy to give it to him...as long as he stayed with her...
There of course...was always a part of her that would be impaitent. She just had to do her best to give him time and room anyway.

I just figured I'd give you a warning, they're actually pretty good kids for the most part.
He brushed his claws over the shoulder his hand cam to rest on and peered out over the the little lake, his feathered tail tip twitching every now and again. This was his version of a perfect evening, or date really ... he wasn't much into the whole... dinner and some kind of other activity type. He valued the simple things in life ... and it showed in just about everything he did.
We should probably get to sleep ... we should leave as early as we can tomorrow. Who knows when we'll run into a town.
He didn't want to go to sleep just yet, but it was the logical thing to do if they were to be traveling anywhere tomorrow. The earlier they got to bed the more sleep they could get before the sun came up and woke them.
Would you like to go back now... or... stay here?
It was a little chilly, yes, but his cape was big enough for the both of them to use and stay warm with ...

Ilana really couldn't have imagined a better first date. Really...there was something magically about just being out in the open and observing nature. There was so little time to be able to do that now adays it seemed, and you always and forever took it for granted when you were a child. Indeed, it was lovely...
She yawned a bit, excusing herself as she had no covered her mouth. Her eyelids were getting heavy, and her eyes stung with the need to sleep. Still she kept them open, not quite willing to say goodnight just yet, though her body was absolteu screaming at her to stop being an idiot and just to sleep. "I hate to say it...but you are right. Sleep is best now...the sooner we get on the road the sooner we will be able to find a town." she gave him a small smile, before yet another deeper yawn ripped through her. She shook her head a bit.
"To be honest...I think if we were to attempt to go back to the campsite i might collapse and fall asleep right there...do you think we will be ok out here?" she asked, feeling a small chill run up her spine from the cold.

If we move away from the water ... we'll be fine.
He worried that they might have made some move or roll in theri sleep and one, or both, might end up in the water at some point ... it wasn't a pleasant thought, especially for someone who was ... rather afraid of drowning in the first place. No ... if they could move a little ways away ... maybe near a tree or something, they'd be fine.
My cloak is warm ... not the most comfortable fabric ... but it's warm and keeps out breezes.
He turned his attention to their surroundings and glanced over the area for a suitable place to sleep ... aha! The grass was a little thick and a little longer over there .... perfect, it would be a little more cushion on the hard ground. he lifted a hand and pointed to where he was thinking they could go.
How about there?

She didn't need to be told twice. Ilana wasn't exactly the most still sleeper once she hit REM. Aurelius used to complain to her in the morning...and while she had gotten better...there was still the chance old habits would awaken and she could fling herself in the water unknowningly. Well...until she started drowning...
"It's ok...as long as I can snuggle up next to you it'll be fine. Your fur is nice and soft..." she said with a small tired yawn, emerald eyes half lidded as she absently moved her head to look at the location of his choosing. Yes...it did seem like a nice place to call it a night. It would wake them up slightly early...what with morning dew...but well...the sooner they got on the move the better... "That looks perfect to me..." she said before getting up, looking down at him for a moment before delicately walking over with thin deer legs over to the new sleeping spot, circling once before ploping herself down, knees first and rump last. Her legs were curled under her neatly...and she waited with her head up like a beacon for the rat to join her. Now that she was not so close to him...she could feel more of the chill in the air, and she shivered silently.

He blushed again, still not used to hearing such things from, well ... anyone. That was another thing he'd need to get used to as well, cause the compliments seemed to be a lasting part of her vocabulary. they weren't unpleasant ... he rather enjoyed them actually, he just .... had a hard time believing them.
He shifted down into his animal form and followed her over to the spot. He'd give off less body heat this way but he'd also take up far less space under the cloak and it could be shared much easier ... she also seemed to think this form was absolutely adorable... and it made his little white ears turn pink even to think about such a thing.
In his usual tentative manner he flopped down and inched his form toward hers until he felt his ribcage against some part of her. He adjusted himself so that he was holding down the side of the cloak that was to keep him warm and covered and flipped the other half over her as best he could ...
It wasn't long before it was warm again and he curled himself up as e was suddenly very sleepy.
Good night Ilana.
It really didn't take long for the little rat mix to fall sound asleep.
And, as he had his head fully tucked and out of the way ... the rather bright morning sunshine didn't even phase him.

She smiled as he downgraded to his animal form. He was very right about her thinking the form cute. Maybe it was because she had been an animal all her life...but it was like seeing his true form. Not to mention his little rodent scuttle was cheek pinchingly adorible. She was to tired to really comment on it however, and seeing him blush...it probably wasnt a good idea to aggrivate his embarrassment.
She hunkered down next to him, snuggling into him further, letting the warmth of her body mix with his, before grabbing her part of the cloak and tucking it underneath her so it would cover them both like a little burrito. The warmth came quickly, and she licked the top of his head gingerly before finally placing her head down on the ground and closing her eyes. "Good night, Tavor." she replied softly.
The first few days of their travels had been hard. They had found no sign of the rose, and well...as much as Ilana didn't want to complain about it, her leg would hurt quite a bit after a couple miles. It made travelling hard, but at least now they were moving. They had eventually found a town, askied about the rose and gathered more supplies. No one had seen the rose they were looking for, and after a while, they decided to head back to Capital City. Tavor needed to make sure the place hadn't collapsed in his absence...and Ilana was eager to meet his children and his bander.
After another couple day's travel....they found themselves were they wanted to be...back in the Captial. "Home sweet home..." Ilana said with a bit of a chuckle. "Though...I have to say...I enjoyed the forest a good deal..."

He was only mildly disappointed that they weren't able to find what they were looking for, but he wasn't surprised. He had been able to bring home the seeds of several strictly Kahmden varieties of rose that he didn't have as well as a few samples from some other things, including a few mushrooms for Brokat. He wasn't entirely sure why the boy liked fungi so very much but he wasn't about to trample one of his children's interests, especially not his shyest.
Being back in the capitol was bittersweet. Sure he lived here and half of his family was here ... but it just wasn't the great outdoors and there were far to many people lurking around. It took a little to hit but after they walked for a bit he did feel a bit of homesickness tugging at his heart ... all he wanted ot do is go back to his house and relax.
Not quite home sweet home yet.
He couldn't help but grin a bit, no ... he didn't consider the Capitol his home, his home just happened to be in the Capitol.
I'm glad you enjoyed your first real outing into the great outdoors. We're also a couple days early ... so you'll be able to get some good rest and relaxation in before meeting the little ones.

Ilana could see now that Tavor was not exactly as excited to be in the capital as she was. She had been so homesick, the thought of going home was all she could think about at that point. With the need to be home sated, she could now see how Tavor was reacting to being back. The poor thing, she wasn't sure how to make the situation better for him, but she supposed keeping quiet about her worry would be the best thing for now. She knew they could both easily get into a worry session over one another. That was the last thing she wanted.
"Yes, it was wonderful! I can see why you like doing it so often. Though...to be honest...I don't really know how much I learned about the people of Kahmden...but...I suppose...going into the forests is one of the better ways to go back to one's roots...more primal that way." she blushed a bit at her realization. Sure she had talked to people in the town, and she had gotten an ok idea of the land, but still...she wasn't quite sure how the region showed up in her...beyond the speckled coat that adorned her. It made her curious about Avington and what that trip would be like.
"That sounds lovely....where do you think your children are staying?" she asked. She knew that Tavor wouldn't leave them without a keeper or at least someone who would drop in to check on them once in a while, but still, she felt it was good to ask.
She wondered..."Are we....going our seperate ways?"
