No worries, it doesn't hurt at all. I promise.
And, as if by doing so it would make all his words so much more sincere, he laid his hand across above his heart and smiled warmly to her. That pleading look struck his insides like he'd been slapped in the face. No one he'd just met had ever looked at him like that, and.... he didn't like it. He didn't like worrying people. He'd done enough of that after he'd returned from the Lowlands .... and he still felt bad for that.
P-please don't worry ...
Her sudden shift of emotion was almost frightening, bu he managed to bit back the squeak of surprise that begged for release. So she was a fan of roses as well? Well, he'd just have to teach her about them then! His own ears perked up at the thought, finally.... someone who wouldn't poke any fun at his rather... feminine hobby. His voice betrayed just how excited he was.
Oh yes! I've actually come here to find a rather spectacular native breed of miniature rose. Would you like to help me find it?

Ilana still couldn't help but worry about the creature's rotting parts. She would never really stop worrying about it. Her mothering ways were horribly overpowering, which had gained her the nickname of 'mom' among her siblings. While it was meant to mock, she took it as a sort of badge. She knew she would just...always be that kind of worry wort of a person. This time however, she didn't continue to bug about it. He seemed sincere in his attempts to sooth her worry, and she simply nodded. Well, she would keep an eye on it while she was around at any rate. If it started to look bad...she could just insist.
But her mind was on greater things, partially why she said nothing. She didn't want to spoil the excited mood she found herself in. She couldn't help but leap a small height, a large toothy smile crossing her features. "I would love to learn more about the native plant life, if you would teach me... I originally came here on a bit of a quest to find out more about this place, and I do love plants...I would be happy...honored even... to help!" her tail wriggled like a little rutter, front legs pawing at the ground a bit as she spoke. She whipped her head around a bit, looking around for any sign of anything looking similar to a rose plant. "Is there anything you can tell me about the plant that might make finding it easier?"

She hadn't done any real harm in asking, he was just now, officially, more self conscious then he had been moments ago. To feel a bit better her flicked his tail and curled it the other direction, trying to hide the rot in the most inconspicuous manner possible. He didn't want to worry her, he didn't want to make her feel bad about saying something .... but he now felt a little... odd about having his rot show. At least his cape did a fair job of hiding the patch on his back.
At her excited antics his mood lifted fully, so she really wasn't all that put off by him? That was wonderful! He chuckled lightly, snowy ears lifting in interest.
I would be more then happy to have you're company!
He paused for a moment, smiling before he lifted an arm and extended a hand back in the direction from whence he came, there was a path there.... it would make finding their destination much easier.
After you.

She smiled broadly. It was always nice making new friends. She dearly loved her family, but it had gotten to the point where they were now the only people in her life. In truth she really didn't have many childhood friends other then her siblings. These trips were not only taken in search of herself, but also in search of some new aquaintences. She was happy to have met such a seemingly nice person as Tavor, and was finding herself lucky to have met someone also interested in plants! Her brothers always made her feel so strange for loving plants. There was something about them though...like someone who found an interest in Banders. They were alive...and lived simply and beautifully through each day. How could one not be interested?
"Why, thank you kind sir!" she said, addressing his gentlemanly gesture with her own damsel like one, each step prancing and leading her closer to where the rat had originally come from. Her tail flicked up and down happily, her eyes scanning for anything similar to a rose plant. Well, he hadn't answered her question...but she figured he would in good time. For now...she at least knew it was a miniture plant...

He was ... old fashioned in a way, and he'd been teased, even if it was lovingly, a time or two for doing such things. She not only seemed to appreciate the gesture, but returned it with one of her own and this pleased him greatly. What luck! Usually when he visited a new realm he was stared at from afar by a bunch of people before being approached by anyone. This was .... a nice change of pace. And, now that they were on their way, he could answer her question.
The highest they grow is about half my height, but that's rare. Most miniature roses get up to about .... here.
He made a motion with his hand to about 4 inches above his knee, indicating the height of the bush it's self.
Everything else looks like you're average rose only.... about a third of the size.
He sighed softly, a contented one, he did so love everything about roses!
The variety I'm most interested in finding is a soft shade of blue that looks as if it turns purple toward the inside.

Her heels kicked up as she walked, her gait happy and eager. She turned her head slightly as they walked, to see the size of the plant that Tavor indicated. She noded slightly with a small smile before turning back to look in front of her, her eyes scanning the ground for the plant he was slowly discribing. Her ears flicked back to hear him properly when he mentioned the color, and her eyes widened slightly. "Oh wow! That sounds beautiful! I really hope we find what you are looking for. What are they called? Do you know? What will you do when you find the plant?" she began asking a myriad of questions.
What a lovely sounding plant, "I've never seen blue roses before..." she said softly, talking more to herself then anything. Her emerald eyes searched as if her life depended on it. She would really love to see that plant, "How common is this plant? Does it grow in any special way in particular?" she couldn't help but bombard him. After all, she was only a novice, but she did have a large amount of interest in changing that, and Tavor seemed like someone who would be able to teach her a thing or two.

He continued down the path, tail flicking back and forth idly as the feathers ruffled ever so slightly from the movement. Her company was quickly becoming more appreciated, and she was asking such intelligent questions as well!
They're rather rare, and I've only heard about them... never seen them. I hope they exist though.
He peered around the area a bit ... if they were to find the roses, they'd need to travel into the woods.... however, he fully expected this adventure to take more ten a few days ... so they'd need somewhere to stay but, oh.... he'd bring that up in a moment.
No one's really quite sure about the details ... but I'd say they're probably more of a .. .feral variety. I think we'll have to go deep into the forest to even see one. But .... I hope to find one that's finished blooming recently and take the seeds .... I would love to grow my own.
The last part of his little rant was said in a wistful manner, oh how he would love to add something so rare and... pretty to his collection! Already he'd made sure to add the three roses his children were named after into it, but this one.... this one would be a rare treat indeed! But yes, there was that other matter to attend to.
However, I'm afraid this might take more then an afternoon to complete...

"I don't know if I've even heard of them before now..." she blushed a bit, showing off more of her novice knowledge, "But then again...I can't imagine I'm as knowledgable about plants as you are. I only know whatever I learned from home and being in the park for long hours of the day." she was glad she was in front of him so that he didn't have to see how red her cheeks were right now. She didn't know why, but she felt like he was a very easy person to talk to, like he wouldn't make fun of her for knowing so little. It made her mouth loose.
She stopped a bit, deciding that maybe being the head of the expedition wasn't the greatest idea, especially since she didn't know as much as him. She waited until they could walk along side each other, and watched the way his head turned and where he wanted to start heading. She nodded as he answered all her questions. She was curious to see how feral roses grew, she had only seen them in peoples gardens, where they were well taken care of and trimmed. She felt a bit silly next to someone who seemed to know so much. "Maybe we could take a plant back with us? Worse comes to worse, you could grow that, and see if it was pollenated while out in the forest?" she suggested. She would hate for them to find it but then not be able to find seeds and go empty handed. Especially since the male seemed so excited about it.
She looked up at him, and gave him a small smile. She imagined that a rare rose would take more then a day to find. It was like looking for anything rare. You had to really look. "If you will have me, I would be happy to search with you until we are successful in getting the plant's seeds...or at the very least a sample." she nodded a bit, her offer genuine.

I ... grew up with roses. I didn't know much about them until a few years ago though.
He really didn't want to explain his previous life in the Capitol, nor how he ended up living among roses with his bander. But his mind wasn't focusing on the bad parts of his past, he just remembered the roses... the wild roses. Well, they weren't quite so wild anymore, he'd had to tame them after all, but they were still his favorite... even if they weren't as pretty as some of the other varieties.
I think we should find a town first .... get some proper supplies. I'm afraid I .... forgot to get any before I left.
Another bit of color touched his cheeks as he admitted that... but suits he'd been so excited to leave! And, well, Casanova had been talking his ear off at the time as well. But... that was still no excuse for forgetting things of such importance on a long trip.

She nodded, listening to the rat quietly before she piped up herself, "That must have been nice. My family's garden was never very good. What with 5 kids to look after, my mom had her hands full with the responcibilities that come with that, and for a while Igal was no help, though you can't really blame him...he's had a hard life. I took up the job of keeping the front yard presentible as my chores. It's how I became so interested in plants. I have to say I got a pretty good deal compared to some of my siblings." she laughed in rememberance, her laughter sounding like a songbird "My brother, Claudius, had toliet duty." she laughed again. Suddenly she blushed brilliantly, "Oh gosh....I'm sorry, I suppose that was horribly boring and inappropriate..."
She kept quiet now, unsure if she had said to much. He silently cursed being so eager to make friends and being so loose tongued to strangers. But when he spoke again, she felt like she had to respond. "Agreed. All I have is some basic first aid and a bit of money. I didn't even pack food or drink...heh..." she blushed a bit at the realization. Had she really come so ill prepared? She supposed she was just excited and ready to get out of the house she had been cooped up in since she was born. There just were to many bodies in that household. She often wondered how healthy a situation like that was. "Do you know of any nearby towns?" she asked sheepishly, realizing she didn't really know where one was....
