He listened to her story, ears flicking every now and again as she spoke. He enjoyed listening to the storied people had about growing up ... he didn't really have mmany... at least not before he went to Corvistowne. Well, even there he'd preferred to exist in the background... not wishing to cause anyone trouble. Except for Isolde it seemed, she had never really left him alone... but it hadn't really been an unpleasant thing. He was actually surprised when she blushed and apologize for reminiscing, why should she be sorry? She hadn't done anything wrong.
No no, don't apologize ... I enjoy hearing about people's families.
Honestly he liked happy stories, even if they were small and seemingly unnecessary. It made him feel as if.... someday he could have that. He used to not think about such things.... but the trio had changed that.
Um.... no... but I'd assume that if we follow this path... we'll get to one eventually?
Oy, he didn't want to go through the same thing that happened the last time he tried to read a map... that time he'd wound up in the Tulgy... and that hadn't been pleasant.

Ilana nodded. She was glad that she hadn't been talking his ears off. She wondered if she was really that attention starved. She supposed in a family of 5 it was very possible. She never really imagined she could talk so much, as she was always so quiet and reserved at home, but she attributed her sudden talkative nature to the fact that she just met someone new, instead of hanging around that same old people who knew all of her memories anyway.
She grew a bit nervous, though she concealled it well. Great, neither of them seemed to know where a town was. This could turn out badly, "I hope so...gosh...I should have brought a map or something." she said the last bit as if she was reprimanding herself for being so foolhardy as to not bring something so essential. A map would be invaluble right now, at least in her mind. She tried not to let it trouble her mind to much, she was sure that eventually they would run into some sort of town. Then she would get a map. And some food and water. That had truely been a dumb on her part.
As they walked through the forest, she gathered in the sights, and cataloged all the plants she saw along the way in her mind. None of them really had names, but she wanted to keep them in mind. Maybe along with a map she could purchase a plant identification book or parchment of some sort. That might be fun. Then another thing came to mind that might also prove to be fun, what with the long walk they seemed to have ahead of them. "I thought of a game we could play to pass the time." she said looking up at the much taller creature with a smile, before turning her attention back in front of her. "You said you enjoy hearing about peoples families and such. How about we share some memories? I figure if we are going to be travelling companions for a little while, maybe we should get to know each other a little better?" she looked up at him, seeing what his reaction to the suggestion would be for a fraction of a second. "I'll say a word...and you tell me the first memory that comes to mind....Um....." she looked around, trying to think of a word that might spark a memory...."Green!"

Maps don't... always help. Especially when you don't know how to read them.
He said this was a grin that was an off mixture of humor, awkwardness and a little bit of something darker mixed in. Oh yes, the last time he'd used a map had landed him in the Tulgey Wood, and that just wasn't an experience he wanted to repeat, even if he could have happened upon a much worse fate there.
Besides, it won't help at all alter, we won't be on any paths at all out in the forest.
He was trying to make the whole thing seem like ... well, not a big deal. It wasn't, not really, He'd done well finding his way out of places in the past, and stumbling upon them as well, so the severe lack of things that they had just ... wasn't anything new. Food and water, yes they'd need to pick that up but .... there'd be stuff out in the forest to, right?
The game ... sounded interesting, but he wasn't entirely sure about it. There were quite a lot of things about his past that hardly anyone knew and bringing them out into the open, especially to someone he'd just met, didn't seem like that great of an idea. But he'd play anyway, he wouldn't want to disappoint her.
Green .... Green .... um
He toyed with his cloak for a minute, enjoying the comfort of the stiff fabric ... and then it hit him. His cloak was green! There had to be some kind of pleasant memory attached to it.
Ah .... clear spring nights laying out on my cloak watching the stars with my bander..... not exactly a family story but .....
And he flashed her another smile instead of continuing to ramble.

She considered his opinion on maps, and nodded. "I suppose you are right. Still...I think I'd feel a little more comfortible owning one. I suppose that's silly....huh?" she said blushing. He was right after all, even if they did have a map, it would only show paths discovered...not any miniture paths they might find in the forest. She supposed that she would have to keep going on faith alone. Well, at least the rat seemed to know what he was doing. She felt as if she could trust him, so she let the worry drip out of her mind...
She saw the bit of uncomfortiblness in his eyes, and she felt badly. Maybe this fellow didn't feel as comfortible with her as she felt with him? She had to admit she had placed her trust in him rather quickly...but he did seem to give off a good air. Though that could just be because she didn't really know anyone. She could be walking into a trap or something...she could be considered almost to trusting. But no....despite the lowlander blood, she didn't think this rat was capable of causing harm.
She looked up at the sky as he spoke, the light blue of the day showing through the thick vegatation. She smiled, star gazing was something she liked to do with her brother sometimes. "You have a bander? What's it like? Where is it now?" she couldn't help but ask. She had always been curious about the creatures, but they were a little to scary for her to imagine owning one herself...
"Oh...I'm sorry...now it's your turn to tell me a word..." she said blushing slightly, after all...it was only fair he got to ask her some questions and things to...he seemed a little shy to deal with her barragement of questions.

Maps are well and good.... but what about ... .an adventure?
He grinned again, knowing that sounded terribly juvenile but .... everything was more of an adventure when you didn't have a map. Even a trip in the Capitol could be, if you'd never been to the place you were finding. Then again, last time he'd done that things had taken a hard left turn at some point ... but everything happened for a reason so he wasn't going to question the system.
At her bander questions he nodded his head, now Rhosy was something he could talk comfortably about! Even if she was a terribly feminine color ....
I do indeed! She's a cute little thing, if you don't mind a little sausage with legs that is. She's gotten to be quite the little beggar, and everyone feeds her table scraps. She's always been a rather sweet little thing though .... and she's presently in Corvistowne with my family. She's getting older and I didn't think she'd be all that thrilled to walk for hours a day. Although it might do her some good.
He chuckled lightly, feathered tail curling up into the tell tale happy shape of rats and mice. He was feeling more and more comfortable as they walked, thankful for the company and the conversation ... .even if it did intrude on his private nature. She wasn't trying to be spiteful or disrespectful and he couldn't deny the fact that he was interested in knowing more about her. It wasn't every day that a pretty girl talked to him .... and not to mention a kind hearted, intelligent plant loving one.
Hum .... what about .... clouds?

Ilana couldn't help giggling a bit, her eyes sparkling slightly as she looked at him, "You're sounding a bit like my brother Claudius. He's always been the adventuring type. It's loosened me up a bit as time has gone on, but I am still considered the worry wart of the family." She had to be, with the kind of needy family she had. It wasn't a bad thing that they were, it just meant more work for her, which could really be stressful at times. Now with everyone growing into adulthood and finding there own way, it had put a great deal of pressure off of her. She supposed she just wasn't used to it. Both she and the male looked perfectly healthy, they really had nothing to horrible to worry about if they found themselves in an adventure. Her smile stayed on her face for a while then.
She wondered mildly what her brother was up to. He had managed to be the last person in the family to leave, and after she had left she hadn't really heard from him. She hoped that wherever he was, that he was safe. She laughed at herself. See? There you go again, worrying about something else.
Ilana let it pass out of her mind, listening to his stories of banders. She had always thought they were pretty cute, though she couldn't help but feel nervous around them. After all, they were suppose to sometimes be really wild and vicious. She didn't want to see a bander like that...However, his seemed to be a bander of her dreams. Oh how she would love a little pudgey thing to dote upon. She giggled slightly along with him, "She sounds precious! Would it be to much for me to ask to one day meet her? I've always been rather curious about Banders..." she asked, emerald eyes asking along with her words.
She liked the change in his demenor. He had seemed even slightly anxious before, but now he appeared to be more comfortible, and happy even. This made her smile, she always liked when people around her felt comfortible. She supposed it was because it helped her to be the same way. But it felt like it was more then that even. She couldn't discribe the sensation. Then he told her a word, and she started to think.
It could be seen in her eyes, her thought process one of deep reflection. She smiled as she remembered something, then suddenly growing somber for a moment, "There is a man who lives with my mother. They aren't married or anything, but I think they really do care about eachother. When I was young, he had a bit of a drinking problem, and sometimes he was not always the best father figure. He never laid a hand on us, but his demenor was certainly unfortunate." she sighed a little. Igal had never harmed any of the children, but his drinking did make him a sad man to be around. It was so unfortunate to see him in such a state of inability to control such a horrible habit. A smile returned to her face slowly as she spoke again, "Slowly, he got better about it, and one day he took us out to the park. This was after he had started spending a great deal more time with us then at the bars. We went cloudwatching. He showed us how to use our imaginations to see things in the clouds. It was a wonderful day. My brother Aurelius and I sometimes go out and do that from time to time. Aurelius does it a great deal by himself to. It's a rather enjoyable and relaxing activity." she looked up at the sky, sheilded by trees, trying to make out some clouds above.
"Siblings!" she said, her head snapping back up to him.

I was a homebody until I got my bi-ped. I was rather content to stick around the house and clean up after everyone ... they're all so busy that it was the least I could do.
He really did enjoy living at home, his own home, which was still in the works really, was just so .... empty when the kids weren't around. And there wasn't much cleaning to do to take his mind off of things when they weren't around either since he was rather neat and tidy himself. What it really came down to was the fact that he'd gotten so used to being around others that being alone ... .was just strange and unwelcome.
Her question about meeting the bander did make him blush lightly, but he kept it from showing in his voice.
Rhoswyn loves everyone, especially if you slip her a snack. And, if you .... wanted to .... sure.
He laughed lightly at the thought and shook his head, he really did have to finish that recipe for those healthy snacks .... and find something to flavor them with that wouldn't make the whole thing unhealthy again. Yes, he did have other feminine hobbies besides roses ... but his recipes were the closest thing to a secret he had.
His tail swayed from side to side as he listened to her story, glad that the man had turned his life around and seemed to have turned into a rather decent father figure. And then there was her word for him, and his answer came much quicker this time around ... he had two specific cards in mind already. There were quite a few memories with each of them ... .but he became distinctly aware of the fact that he didn't have one with both of them. Perhaps he'd have to rectify that?
I'm actually... adopted but I've got quite a few siblings from that. Not close to many of them really, but Xylia and Isolde are the big exceptions.
He paused for a moment to collect something specific about each of the girls to share with her.
Xylia and I used to go to the park together .... she tried to show me how to swim but .... it didn't work so well, my wings were just to heavy when they got wet when I was younger. And Isolde and I used to bake or ... .well, she would bake and use me as a guinea pig for her recipes.

"That's very kind of you. I've always been a bit of a homebody myself, and everyone was always busy there to..." she looked up at him and his tall bi-pedal form. Bi-pedal was an extremely attractive form, she had to admit to herself. Her mother had it, and Igal had one to, and they were some of the prettiest people she knew, aside from the rat now she supposed. She blushed a little and turned away. "I sure would like to attain bi-pedal one day. It seems so useful, and graceful..."
She laughed a bit when he mentioned the bander might like her a great deal if she slipped it snacks, trying to move on from the embarrassing thought of Tavor's handsome bi-pedal form. "Oh, well, I might just be tempted to slip the little thing something in that case, I'm sorry to be unhelpful. Hehe...what does she like in particular? Maybe I could make her something that wouldn't be to fattening?" she noded a bit with another giggle, "I should really like to meet her!"
But now it was time to stop talking about herself and listen to the mix. She blushed a bit as she realized she had been talking mostly about herself the past few moments. So he was adopted? She could relate to that...Her mother and Igal had both been adopted after all. She suddenly seemed to have a new perspective on the mix, happy to know him. After all, her mom and Igal were some of the nicest people she knew (not just attractive). Maybe there was some theme with attractive, intellegent, nice adopted children. Then he gave two names...and her eyes opened a bit.
"Xylia? Isolde?" she said softly, looking at him as he went through his memories to find some about the two. So he knew them? "Xylia is my half sister! I haven't seen her in quite some time...our families were never...that close, but I've always remembered her as a very sweet girl. How is she now?" she smiled a bit, eager to here more about the family she never really saw. It was a shame that it had happened so awkwardly. If it had been different, they might have grown up to be really good friends. "Isolde...I know her only by name, I've never met her...but she's a friend of my brother's. He talks about her a good deal. She sounds like a wonderful girl as well!"
Then she suddenly remembered..."Oh...and you're turn to say a word now..."

Had he any inkling of what she was thinking he would have turned a rather brilliant shade of red right then and there, but he didn't and, well, didn't change any colors either. His bipedal form was far more useful and graceful then his animal form after all. He was primarily rat, and a small one at that, and thus things were hard to reach and, well, the gait that two legs gave him was a pretty big step up from the waddling one that vermin tended to have. He had other reasons for wanting it, but those ran along with the same things about his past that he didn't feel comfortable sharing quite yet.
It's rather useful! The height helps almost as much as having hands does.
He picked up his hands and looked at them for a moment, appreciating them briefly before dropping them back down to his sides and then chuckled as her own thoughts about healthy bander snacks seemed to mingle with his own.
I've tried so many different recipes and she turns up her nose at them. I think she knows .... since she'll eat pretty much anything besides my treats. Of course ... the kids don't help at all by sneaking her cookies.
He rolled his eyes a bit at that thought, he'd told them a thousand times not to feed the bander .... and they did just the opposite. He always knew when they did to, the pink tabby bander always had a certain smug look about her whenever she'd gotten something she knew she shouldn't have.
Her next comment caused his ears to perk up and his expression to brighten further. If she truly was a half sibling of Xylia then she couldn't be a bad person ... not at all!
Really, you are? What a small world!
His tail curled up further into it's happy little s shape and he continued.
Last I heard she was doing well, I should really go pay her a visit sometime. I haven't seen her in quite awhile myself! And a friend of your brothers, really? Yes, small world indeed!
He laughed lightly again before giving her a sheepish grin as she mentioned that it was his turn to give a word... .again.
Guess I'm not the greatest at this game ..... um ... rain!
