"The things I'd do for a pair of hands..." she said with mock begrudgement. She laughed a little as she picked up a hooved leg, waving the hoof a little in the air before setting it down again. "My brother and I agreed one day that Deer and other hooved animals need bipedals in order just to be a productive member of society. There is only so much you can do with them..." She stared up at him a bit, with a small smile, "I can still work in the garden i suppose...since it's such a one thing at a time type process...but...it would still be more helpful to have hands. My brother was getting art lessons from this kid he had met once....a genius. This kid crafted a working hand for him so he could use a brush! I was tempted to ask him to make me a pair so i could work in the garden better..."
"Hmmm." she hummed as she thought about how to rectify the situation with the bander, "Maybe there is something in there that she doesn't like? It could be a mental thing to. I would try filling the cookie jar with those treats you make for her...so then the kids would be unknowningly slipping them to her." she laughed a little at her idea. Sometimes tricking kids was the only way to get them to do what you wanted them to. She knew this was true for two of her brothers anyway. She imagined most kids weren't much different then the siblings she had grown with.
"It sure seems that way doesn't it? First two people you mention knowing are closely tied to me and my own family! What luck!" she laughed a little bit at the unlikely senario. It was good to hear that her siblings were doing well, especially since one in particular had been so upset that day he had found out that his father wasn't exclusively with his mother. She fretted silently, finally turning to him...trying to look as pleasent as possible, "You don't happen to know a buck by the name of Vertumnus do you?" she asked quietly.
She shook her head a bit, trying to get rid of the anxiety she was beginning to feel...and trying to sooth the rat's worries as well. There she went worry warting it up again. "Rain...not really a memory...but something neat! My brother Aurelius, since he was born, has always had this...strange mohawk of a mane along his spine. As he's grown older though...we all realized he gives off little electric shocks from it when it's misty or wet outside. I found out the hard way..." she laughed a little...and that helped to get rid of most of the edge, "I went to nuzzle him, and he shocked the entire length of my body. Didn't hurt me...but it sure was uncomfortible." she laughed again...obviously remembering the reaction that both of them had to such a strange event.
"I guess that did turn into a memory now didn't it? I suppose that happens when you keep rambling as I do..." she laughed sheepishly...she did feel as if she was talking a little to much, but she supposed the rat just wasn't as talkative as she was. "Take." she said, looking at him, obviously the word for him to relay.

He listened as she went on about hooves and hands and ... well, she had a point. He remembered seeing some of his 'siblings' have to get around with hooves for awhile, and then others had plain paws... which weren't much better. That was one good thing about having been a rodent .... more adept paws. The talk about the other boy ... the one that had made her brother a hand so he could paint, that sparked his interest a bit.
Was he a Corvistownian?
And then he paused, looking at the path .... it seems they had come to a fork in the road and he was investigating each direction carefully. His tail curled it's self in to a partial c shape and his whiskers shifted forward before he lifted his nose and appeared to be ... .scenting each trail like a canine might. Pale ears pulled themselves forward and he thought for a moment before heading down the path to the right. He had been listening to her the whole while though, and had to laugh at her bander comments.
I think she does it just to be a pain ... and I'm not sure if the kids would appreciate any replacements. But .... you're welcome to have a go at it if you'd like. They're all picky little things.
His tail curled it's self back up into more of an s shape, but his ears remained forward. Vertumnus? Hmmm .... the name was familiar but... there were an awful lot of his adopted siblings that he hadn't met.
I've heard about him, but I haven't met him, no. I'm afraid I haven't even met all of my own family... I'll have to try and do that someday.
The last sentence was said in an almost wistful manner. Yes, he'd definitely be trying to meet the lot of them .... even if they weren't all as nice as the ones he did know.
If it happened in the past, and it crosses your mind .... it's a memory my dear.
He tilted his head just enough for her to see the side of his muzzle and flashed her a smile to make sure that she didn't take any of that the wrong way. It was a fact, yes, but it was also meant to be a good natured prodding at the same time.
That word though ... wasn't the greatest of choices. The only things it immediately brought to mind were rather unpleasant and his expression faltered as he looked away .... oy, he really didn't want to go down any of those paths. His voice was .... a lot quieter then it had been moments ago.
Could you .... pick a different word please?

She looked as if she was deep in thought for a moment and shook her head decidedly, "I don't think he ever told me what his region was...to be honest. He lives in Capital City...which doesn't really help determine anything. Only thing I know is that the boy's name was Tristian...I believe...and that Aurelius said he had really golden curlly locks of hair that were quite beautiful..." she blushed a bit, suddenly feeling as if she shouldn't have said the last bit. "My brother tends to notice things like that....He's....got his own...issues..." she said, hoping he wouldn't ask anything more about it. It wasn't exactly a comfortible conversation any longer.
The subject didn't need to be changed. Soon they were at a fork in the road...and she looked at each way...a little puzzled. Soon she was sniffing the air a bit like he was doing. She pointed in the direction closest to him, "That way..." she said, already starting to head in that direction without even really asking the rat if he agreed. She was not being rude...simply making the choice easier for both of them...besides...he wanted an adventure. "This way smells more pleasent....and my brother always says...when in doubt...follow your nose..." she said turning back to look at him with a bit of a smile.
"Ah...a challange! I always accept cooking challanges. It's rather fun to do...even though I'm not quite good at it yet....comes with the territory of having hooves I think..." she said blushing slightly as her tail swished to and fro without much thought. She was sure she could find something that would appease everyone's needs...at least, she was confident enough in herself to believe it enough to try it.
She nodded a bit when Vertumnus was talked about. At least he was alive...he would have heard that he had died...right? "I only ask...because last we meet...it hadn't been a good day for him...I hope that now he is alright though." she let that subject die quickly to....she didn't like how every conversation was seemingly going south.
And yet again it seemed to...she blushed horribly, embarrassed that she had made him feel so uncomfortible. Of course take was a rather negative word to use...how silly of her to bring such a word up! "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to...." she stopped herself...and shook her head a bit to make herself stop worrying so much..."Music..."

Mmhmmm .... I can detect something cooking this way ... should mean we're approaching some sort of town or city.
And uncommon fact was that rats had a sense of smell that rivaled the average canine's and thus he was probably detecting something a bit more then she was about the path they'd both selected. The stronger of the scents, though, was flowers. Somewhere down this path there was at least a small patch, no roses ... .but .... they smelt heavenly.
If you could think of something like that, I'd be eternally grateful!
Ah, what a wonderful prospect.... something healthy, delicious and appealing to everyone. It seemed a little to good to be true, but they could dream right? A light flush touched his cheeks as he put a little more thought into his.... thought. At least he hadn't said that, or something similar, out loud ....
He still turned his head to flash her a comforting smile, obviously her family was important, even the distant ones ... he liked that.
I'm sure he's fine and you'll get to meet him again someday.
Now music was a subject he could think of something cute for and it brought a little smile to his face.
Not entirely sure if it counts as music .... but when Isolde was younger and would have a nightmare, or a bad day ... .really, I would sit with her and hum her a little tune to soothe her ... she'd usually fall asleep because of it.... works with the kids to .... usually.

"Really?" she said looking breifly to him before lifting her head higher to attempt to catch the scents he was getting. While her sense of smell was good, it was rather inferior to Tavor's own. All she smelt were flowers...and well...flowers seemed relatively harmless in the grand sceme of things. There could be much worse.
She simply smiled at him, content to finally close her mouth for a moment. Just enjoying the smells and the sounds of the forest as the two of them walked together. She was happy to give it a shot with the cookies. Children did need to eat healthy-ish things from time to time instead of sweets...and well...she had heard that it was extremely unhealthy for small animals...and banders...to get to overweight. Something about their lives being shortened. But she didn't want to think about such things now.
She was happy to let the moment slide without prodding into his previous sadness. It didn't seem right to poke around. Ilana smiled fondly at his memory, "I used to sing to my siblings too. Aurelius had always been such a light sleeper...and rather disturbed. He would wake up often...so I would have to sing him back to sleep often." she began to notice that of her siblings she spoke of Aurelius more then the others...she felt badly...Irving had needed her help to....but Inca had taken herself up as his charge long ago...and she had gone with Aurelius. It only made her realize then that the real one left out was Claudius. She sighed a little bit...hoping that her brother might be able to find what he was looking for...sometime soon...
"Children." she said, not wanting to remind Tavor that it was his turn to give her a word...she didn't want him to feel bad for continueing to forget...and besides...she was curious about all this talk of children he had.

Maybe you could sing for me sometime?
He enjoyed music, but hearing someone sing was something he had always loved and at first he thought nothing of the comment, it was one of those that just ran out of the mouth without any really, and then his old, bad habit of second guessing himself came up and he turned a rather nice shade of red again. He turned giving her a rather sheepish little look and brushed his fingertips over the back of his neck. It was an innocent comment but somehow .... it made him feel odd.
I-I mean ... you know ... if you .... w-wanted to.
And just about then he realized that he hadn't picked another word, and felt even worse about that. Why was he so awful at this game? It ... wasn't even a difficult one. However, it didn't seem that the doe minded too much and she'd just gone and picked another word for him without even giving him a dirty look ... and he was rather relieved, and it was a terribly easy word as well ... but it had far to many things attached to it to really hone in on a memory.
W-well ... I have three. All named after roses I thought were .... fitting of them. Casanova, Brokat and Vesper. I-if you did .... want to come to the Capitol with me.... at.. .um .. .some point, you'd be able to meet them a-and the bander.
Gads, he was stumbling all over his words again ... but why? He wasn't entirely sure why all this talk was flustering him so, but it was .... and he was growing steadily more embarrassed and ... .nervous? But ... he did remember this time, and managed a bit of a smile as well. Even if they'd just been talking about them off and on ...
Cookies.

Ilana looked at the rat a bit, about to agree that at some point she would sing to him, only hesitant because she wasn't a very confident singer. It grew all the more awkward however, when she saw him blush, and when he added the amendment to the request. She blushed a brilliant red as well, and found a small uncomfortible giggle escape her maw. "I wouldn't mind at all...but...um...I don't know how good of a singer I really am..." she wished she had a bipedal form, she would cover the embarrasment on her face with a hand. But no such luck, and she had to turn her head to look away from the rat for a moment while she regained her composure. Why had he been so nervous about his request? Why was she nervous?
It seemed the both of them were rather nervous people, and she supposed she would have to take that into consideration. She thought for a moment before speaking softly, "You know...as long as we are travelling together, and from what I have gathered from you so far, I would say you have no need to be nervous around me...If you have something you want to say, go ahead and say it...and try not to worry about conentations...we can laugh about it together after all...I say weird things all the time myself..." she said smiling a bit at him, shyly. She hoped that would allow him to be less blushy around her, and for her to be the same with him...at least now they were both on the same level. She hoped it would ease his nerves.
She continued to look at him as he spoke of his children, a more confident smile coming across her features, "Wow! Three children! They must be quite the handfuls..." she laughed, but she could feel a bit of her grow grey, a strange sensation...but she guessed why, "Are they with their mother right now? Or...father?" she asked next, since the children were obviously not among them, and she would hate to hear they had been left unattended, though she doubted someone like Tavor would be so irresponcible. As he stuttered, she found herself blushing, but this time she didn't look away, "I will most likely need to stop by before my next destination anyway at the City....and I would love to meet your children and bander!" she smiled widely despite the red tinged cheeks, "I love children...I've always hoped for some of my own one day..." she said...and immidiately began to regret saying such a thing.
Instead she troubled herself with thinking of a memory for cookies..."Once...around the time I first started cooking...I accidently poured to much salt into the cookies...thinking it was sugar and wanting to have the most sugary cookies I could possibly make...." she shook her head as she remembered the taste, "It wasn't pretty....and it tasted....foul...." she laughed a little.
There was a bit of a silence as the two of them seemed to blush back and fourth, "Enjoy..."

I'm sure you're voice is lovely.
He managed to get a grip on himself before all of his composure slipped into a puddle of goo on the ground right in front of his eyes. He'd worked so hard all these years to attain it and ... he just couldn't allow himself to let it slip completely. But suits if she didn't just make it awfully hard not to slip up. he'd just have to try harder.
At her next comment he simply nodded, trying to cover his lingering nervousness with a somewhat awkward looking smile. That was logical and if they could both do that .. .yes, things would be a lot less awkward. He uncurled his tail and then re-curled it in an attempt to let all the tension flow from his body, it sort of worked ... then again it would be rather strange not to have any at all ... at least for him.
It switches ... we all live in different places so they go between me, their grandparents and their father. I have to admit .... having the house to myself gets a bit lonely now.
His tail tip twitched a bit at that, but he refused to let the last comment bother him at all .... he really didn't want things to turn awkward again. Thankfully he had a nice little word to keep his mind off of things and he went and said the first thing that came to his mind... again.
Well ... I'm enjoying your company. Beyond that .... that's a pretty broad word.
And, instead of blushing and being odd all over again he simply fiddled with the material of his cloak with his purple claws for a moment before perking up and pointing ahead.
does that look like rooftops to you?

"Oh...you are to kind. I suppose, however, we shall find out the truth at some point." she laughed a bit, shrugging her sholders cutely as she took the compliment with a bit of a blush. She really wasn't sure how her voice sounded. Her family could just be being nice to her anyway. She gave him a small smile when he seemed to understand her request. "I'll do the same for you...if you ask me anything...I'll answer it...well...within reason..." she blushed again...and laughed...feeling as if she was already going back on her word...and decided to explain, "There are obviously some things that would be unladylike of me to speak about. Oh dear...I'm sorry..." she continued to blush and giggle nervously. Suits...why was she even bringing anything like that up.
She shook her head visibly...as if to try to shake such nonsense from her mind. She looked up at the rat as he spoke. Oh...so he....liked...men? She wouldn't have guessed, but she supposed that it came from a place of living in a realitively straight family. Not that she had any problems with homosexuality though...it was just not something she thought about often. After all, she was not a lesbian, and had her own dreams of having a family one day with some special man. She smiled a bit. She was glad such a nice man had already started realizing such a dream for himself. "It is nice that your children seem to get so much time with family. Family...I think...is extremely important. Um...pardon me...but if I may be so bold...how long have you been with your husband?" she asked, feeling a bit....badly for asking such a personal question, but her curiousity was killing her. After all, she wanted a husband and children one day..."I only ask because...well...I'd like to get married one day....and have children...but...well...I wonder when the appropriate time is to spring the idea on a loved one....I don't know if everyone is as eager to have children as I am." she said, not being able to help giggling as she spoke. She really did want children...after all...she loved all her siblings...she wanted to be able to mother again...and know that her children would feel the same way that her siblings had all seemed to feel for eachother. "Oh suits....this is probably a horribly uncomfortible conversation. I apologize...I seem to be on some sort of roll...maybe I should just stop talking..."
She smiled...unable to help how sweet his words were, "I'm so glad...I have to say...even with all the rather inappropriate conversations I am really enjoying your company as well. I don't have many friends outside my family..." and this was the truth.
She looked to where he indicated...narrowing her eyes a bit trying to get a better and less fuzzy look. "It seems that way...though...they could be pine trees? I really can't tell..." she said...her voice indicating her uncertainty. She was glad for a moment of objective speech...so that she could finally let her face have a break from all the blushing. If she kept this up...she might just pass out. "I suppose we will find out soon enough?" she said looking to him...the game momentarily forgotten.
