O-of course not ...
He really didn't want to touch the subjects she was, quite possibly, hinting at and despite his best efforts .... the thought tinted his cheek all over again. Those subjects just .... weren't his cup of tea really. He was lightening up until she asked about his .... husband? Oh suits no .... that .... suits! That question made him completely stop and his tail became stiff for a moment before he was able to loosen up with a terribly uncomfortable cough, and quite possibly the fiercest blush he'd worn .... ever.
I-it's not like that .... we aren't .... suits ..... he's not .... I don't ...
And he couldn't even make a coherent sentence out of that. He didn't want to call it an accident or a mistake, cause that very much would mean that the children were to and he didn't think that and gads .... even his thoughts weren't entirely coherent. He brought two clawed fingertips up to his forehead and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath ... suits this subject was uncomfortable.
I'm not ... with anyone. I just ... want them to know ... their whole family.
Alright, good .... he'd gotten that out alright, he wasn't quite as tense anymore but .... that probably didn't make a very good impression on her. Gads, he didn't even like men. Well, not to a very high degree .... he'd willingly slept with one after all so that meant that he... sort of was, right? Whatever ....
He fiddled with his cape a bit more before starting toward what he presumed were houses once more and tried very hard not to seem .... bothered.

In this particular moment, she really wished she had hands, so that she could pull the foot she had so certainly choked herself with. Instead, she was content to have a look of complete horror on her face. What had she just done! She hadn't meant to make him so upset. She couldn't even open her mouth, it was as if it was sown shut so that it wouldn't be allowed to say anything stupid. She stopped when he did, lowering her head to the ground slightly, her ears floppy and her eyes wide with worry. Oh suits...how could she have been so stupid, she saw how fragile he seemed to be with some of their discussions! Why had she insisted on talking about things that might possibly have driven him into such a flustered state?
"I'm sorry...I...I'm such an idiot. I didn't mean to make you so uncomfortible...or well...I suppose I asked a great deal of uncomfortible questions...but I....um....suits.....I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed....I shouldn't have asked....please forgive me..." she asked...her own words and thoughts seeming to be as jumbled as his. Suits...she really was an idiot. She wanted to pat him, comfort him in his unease...but she decided against it. Somehow it would only make things more awkward...
Suits...what could she do or say to rectify such a mistake? She shook silently, unable to cope with the fact that she had messed up so badly. She was to open for him....but maybe...maybe thats what he needed? Maybe...she could tell him something...that...she had never told anyone? Then maybe...it would make up for her mistake? She was frantic as she spoke..."I guess...I just assumed...because...well...my mother and father werent married...and....well...their relationship was always strained...and...he never really spent time with any of us....I don't think...he knew what to do...not being married to my mother...and having 5 children....and...." she breathed deeply...beginning to feel slightly paniced..."I...guess...I....just wanted to know what a regular family was like....I guess...I just...pushed my ideal situation on you...without really thinking about it....thinking that....it doesn't always happen like that....that....more often then not....it's like...how my family is....." she could feel tears coming to her eyes. How many times had she cried at night wishing that her father would come and marry her mother and they could be a real family? How many times had she wished better for her family and her siblings. Maybe that was why she fantasized so much about being married and having children. She wanted to fix her own little perfect family....have them be blessed with the things she didn't have in a broken one. "Suits...I'm such an idiot...I'm so sorry...."
She plopped her butt down on the woodland floor...suits she had messed things up so badly...he probably thought she was a nutter. She blushed horribly as she fought back the tears she felt coming from her eyes. Her mind was a mantra of what an idiot she was being....maybe...they should seperate when they came to the next town...she had so horribly ruined the group dynamic now...making things so awkward....

He listened to her, well, ramble but he was so uncomfortable that it didn't do much at all. It sank in when he started to relax, but until then he was rather .... selfish, wasn't he? His ears drooped down to the sides of his head and he sighed lightly, looking back at her and ... only managing to make himself feel about a hundred times worse in doing so.
He stopped again, turning to fully face her and .... suits, he'd made her cry? He hadn't meant to do that, not at all .... he felt just .... awful. He'd never made anyone cry before, no, wait ... he had .... but he felt worse this time around.
Please don't cry .... it's alright. I'm just not used to being .... asked such things. I don't get out much .... and ..... I just don't..... suits I'm sorry.
His ears drooped even more as his expression sunk, he felt.... so very .... horrible.

Ilana rubbed at her eyes, fighting back the tears that threatened to fall, fighting back the thoughts of her idiocy, as she tried hard to regain herself...and save what little bit of face she didn't manage to ruin in front of her....traveling companion. She wondered if they should really truely split up at the next city. She didn't want to...she had hoped she would find someone nice to be her travelling companion...and Tavor had turned out wonderfully until she ruined everything...but she didn't want to make him uncomfortible anymore...
"Oh no...really...don't apologize...I'm just...an idiot...and...I should have...not gone there. I don't really geet out much either....you are probably..." she blushed, "The first real person I've met outside my family who....well...I could see being my friend....if I hadn't just ruined it so horribly just now. I guess...I don't know how to interact with people as much as I thought I did...." she whiped away the last of her tears looking up at him from her seat on the ground...feeling embarrassed.
She shut her eyes for a moment, then suddenly shook her head viciously, and looked back up at him...her eyes still nervous...but her face attempted to be friendly..."Well...we should go find those houses....it's getting dark..." she said looking up at the canopy of tall trees...seeing it turn grey in the sky up above them. Either rain was coming...or night...or both....and she didn't want to be cought out of a city under either circumstances...

Well, we're even on that. We're both social shut outs who've just stuck to our loved ones. You've done no harm, really, I'm just easy to put off is all ... I need to get over it.
and after that he gave her a genuine smile, he hadn't expected to have company at all on this little trip but ... it was far more fun this way, even with so many awkward subjects popping up.
He stepped over to her and knelt down, using his thumb to wipe a tear from her cheek that she had missed, managing to look her in the eyes and not blush .... or fumble his words, he was being sincere.
I's love to continue my search with you ... you're company is pleasant ... even if you do do ask me uncomfortable questions.
And then he grinned and followed her gaze up to the sky. It looked more, it really was hard to tell what was really coming through the canopy.
But the night is the best time to be out, would you like me to show you?
He turned back to her, still kneeling, and perked his ears forward again as he waited for her reply .... completely unaware of how awkward this might be for her.

His words were comforting, and the doe didn't feel the need to respond to his words. She simply nodded, content with the statement he had made about doing no harm. The way he said it made her believe it, and she had no reason to protest. As he smiled at her, she thanked him with her own smile, just as warm as him. He understood, and she appreciated it.
She watched as he bent down and touched her cheek, and she couldn't help but allow her cheeks to get a bit rosey. It was a rather endearing motion, one which she didn't expect from anyone but maybe her family. She was touched that he seemed to care so much. She wanted to say thank you, because she appreciated such a friendly gesture, but she couldn't manage to find her voice. It figures, she thought to herself, that the one time she could put her voice to some good other then rambling, she can't find anything to say.
At length she finally spoke, "Really? I could really use a companion...I'm not used to being so alone all the time....and well....you never know who you are going to run into by yourself. I'm happy...you like my company...I was really enjoying yours." she smiled sweetly at him, her voice was quiet.
She watched as he inspected the sky for himself. At his question, Ilana perked her ears forward as well, a look of intrege clearly on her features. "It won't be dangerous being out at night?" she asked, a little wary, but otherwised interested in seeing what he meant.

He tried to ignore the rose colored hue that touched her cheeks and keep it from effecting his own and, for once, it worked. He wasn't used to putting himself so ... close to someone, generally he preferred to respect their space but he couldn't help himself this time around. He didn't want to see her sad, and he didn't want her to leave just yet ... especially not with the adventure about to begin!
Well, it doesn't have to be past tense ... I'm still ... enjoying yours.
He chuckled lightly, suits that sounded corny, didn't it?
It can be, but it's also beautiful. Beautiful things always have the ability to be dangerous .... much like a rose and her thorns.
He stood back up and fumbled with his cape a moment before turning back and looking where they were going. If it was getting dark, it'd be best to get there as soon as possible to make sure they could get supplies before anything closed for the night, but he did look back at her with a smile.
Shall we?

She couldn't help but smile. It was a relief to be heard, corny or not. "No. You are right. I am also enjoying your company. You are a very nice man, and I'm happy to have met you. It's not everyday you meet someone who has the same interests as you. Or well...at least it isn't for me." she chuckled warily, a smile still on her face reguardless.
Ilana listened intently. It was true what he said. Beautiful things did seem to have the ability to turn dangerous, but she supposed thats what made them worth seeking in the first place. If it was easy, it would not be nearly as desirable, or as beautiful. They were made for those brave enough to go up against the dangers. She supposed if her companion was not worried, then she had no reason to be worried either. Besides...she was curious to see what he might show her.
She smiled warmly at him as he invited her to follow him, "Yes. Let's." she got up, her back legs wabbling a bit before she balanced herself and started forward, "Lead the way?"

I know what you mean ... not many people appreciate plants. It's a shame really.
When she agreed to come with him, he was rather happy to lead the way. That meant she wasn't going to sneak off and leave him, right? He hoped not. He knew it was potentially foolish, but he already deemed this deer a friend and it would make his heart sink rather quickly if she did a thing like that.
So he lead the way, eating up the time by talking about this or that, since he wasn't really good at their previous game .... and it shouldn't take long to get to their destination anyhow. It took roughly another twenty minutes to reach their target ... and his ears drooped when he saw what he'd actually smelt. It was a campfire, obviously from the previous night, and ..... the rooftops? Simply a group of darker leaved trees that he hadn't seen quite right through the canopy of ... other trees.
He stopped, tail almost touching the ground now .... and the sky was far darker then it had been before. They'd have to spend the night with no provisions it seemed. And well, he felt just awful. He was certain she was hungry ... or at least thirsty ... and he couldn't do a thing about it ...
Ilana .... I'm so sorry!

The rest of the way was pleasent enough. They had managed to get past all the awkwardness of the first few moments, and had been talking very happily and unembarrassed about plants. It was only when they came upon the abandoned campsite instead of a prefered town that the smile on Ilana's face faltered ever so slightly. Well...that certainly wasn't good. She shook her head however, eyeing the concerned look on his face. "Oh please. Don't be sorry! Sure it's not a town...but that can only mean we are getting closer...I'm sure tomarrow we will find the town we are seeking. For now...theres a fine bare bones set up of a camp." she said...trying to think possitively.
She looked at the night that seemed to be closing in around them, an owl in the distance hooting cought her attention, and she chuckled a bit at how startled she had been because of it. She wasn't horribly pleased that they had not found a nice bed to sleep on instead, but really...the place wasn't that bad. "It could be worse..." and before she could finish her sentiment she started to hear a rushing sound..."Do you hear that?" a second later cold water hit her body and she jumped, suddenly realizing she was in a shower. It was raining! She supposed thats what she got for opening her big mouth...
Her eyes narrowed in annoyance..."I should really learn to shut up...shouldn't I?"
